Indian Temple Restaurant in Hamburg

Zwar gibt es in der Fuhlsbüttler Straße jede Menge Restaurants. Wer aber einfach am "Indian Temple" vorbeigeht, verpasst eine außergewöhnlich gute Küche. Das Essen ist frisch und fein gewürzt - und zwar nicht zu scharf. Wer es etwas schärfer möchte, der kann zwischen verschiedenen "Stufen" wählen. Die Auswahl umfasst Fisch, Fleisch und vegetarische Gerichte. Bei der Zubereitung stimmt jedes Detail - das gilt auch für die Beilagen und für die Getränke. Der Safran-Reis schmeckt außergewöhnlich gut. Und der Geschmack des Getränks "Mango-Lassi" ist ein Genuß. Während der Woche gibt es Mittagstisch - immer mit einer kleinen Vorspeise. Wenn das Wetter mitspielt, kann man draußen sitzen. Drinnen ist's gemütlich - die gesamte Einrichtung ist auf "Tempel" abgestimmt. Originell sind die sanitären Anlagen - denn selbst der Vorraum ist wie ein Tempel tapeziert und sogar die Fliesen haben indisches Dekor. Insofern passt hier alles - wer hier ißt, taucht für eine kurze Zeit ab in die Welt Indiens. Und die Freundlichkeit des Teams, das hier arbeitet, rundet das Ganze noch ab. Ich habe das Restaurant über Empfehlungen kennengelernt und gehe immer wieder gern hierher.

Sehr gutes indisches Restaurant mit großer vegetarischer Auswahl (und veganen Optionen), schönem Ambiente und gutem Service. Auf der Karte stehen typische nordindische Gerichte, vor allem Curries in vielen Variationen, aber auch Brote, Reisgerichte und Tikka Gerichte sowie weitere Optionen. Dabei sind sehr viele Gerichte vegetarisch und einige auch vegan (im Einzelfall lieber nachfragen). Ich hatte das Mattar Paneer und meine Begleitung Chicken Tikka Masala. Die Gerichte waren beide super lecker und meinem Wunsch, das Essen indisch scharf zu bekommen, wurde auch entsprochen. Dazu hatten wir Naan, was schön saftig war. Die Portionsgrößen waren auch gut. Preislich liegt das Essen auf einem fairen Niveau, für die Qualität ein gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Der Service war auch super freundlich, der Kellner ist immer für einen Spruch zu haben. Hier fühlt man sich wohl. Insgesamt kann ich das Indian Temple Restaurant daher sehr weiterempfehlen.

Gemischter Eindruck, aber insgesamt enttäuschend. Der Kellner hat während des Services laut zur Musik mitgesungen, was unprofessionell wirkte. Positiv war, dass die Soßen sehr gut erklärt und schön präsentiert wurden. Die Bemerkung, dass wir „erstmals mit Naan anfangen sollen“, wirkte bevormundend. Zusätzlich hat der Kellner ungefragt sehr private Dinge erzählt, was ebenfalls unpassend war und nicht zu einem professionellen Service passt. Insgesamt kein überzeugendes Erlebnis.

My favourite indian food place!! Every time i eat there i get the chicken makhani which is absolutely delicious and not spicy (unless you want it to be) with the garlic naan. The service is really good and everyone is very polite so i would definitely recommend this place!!

A very nice little Indian restaurant with consistently friendly and attentive service and delicious food. It's a shame that the pan is only served in the evenings.

Food was good but not I got actual indian taste i order mix veg but they only give broccoli and bell peppers not other vegetables and gravy is also not good

We are regulars at this place. Though there are many restaurants in walking distance to my appartment - even including 2 Indian places - we prefer to drive to this place. The food is delicious, I'd even say it is currently unmatched anywhere in Hamburg. Family run business, friendly atmosphere. Just be aware, it can be a bit drafty (I feel cold very easily and always carry a light jacket just in case).

"I went to this restaurant yesterday with my colleagues. The food was average compared to Indian standards. One disappointing aspect was the portion of rice — although we ordered three full main dishes, we were served a very small portion of rice for all of us. When we asked for more, they provided just one small extra serving and charged us for it separately. I found this quite unreasonable. Also, the prices for simple snacks like papadam were surprisingly high."

We went there for lunch today for the first time. It's small, cozy, and clean. It's lovingly decorated with lamps on the tables. The lunch menu is filling and delicious. We were lucky enough to be served by the owner, who was very friendly and accommodating. We even had a pleasant chat with him before leaving. It's perfect for small celebrations. I can only warmly recommend the India Temple! The food is simply fantastic - every dish is fresh, aromatic and perfectly seasoned. The selection of traditional Indian dishes in particular leaves nothing to be desired. The flavors are intense but balanced, and you can immediately tell that only high-quality ingredients are used here. What makes the visit even more memorable is the outstanding service. Manu, the owner, is incredibly friendly and accommodating. He makes you feel welcome straight away and looks after every guest with a lot of heart and passion. You can tell that he cares about the well-being of his guests. I will definitely be back and would recommend India Temple to anyone who wants to enjoy authentic Indian cuisine in a cozy and welcoming atmosphere!

Most boring Indian food I've ever eaten, no choice between mild or spicy, so the food feels unseasoned German, no Indian flavor noticeable, some delivery services can do that better.

Unfortunately, I cannot agree with the numerous positive experiences. We initially didn't receive some orders and had to ask for them several times. We only received our main courses after about 1 1/2 hours. The food was lightly seasoned and had hardly any flavor compared to other Indian restaurants. Some of the fat had already separated from the sauce, so it was likely that it had been heated for too long. Since we had already lost our appetite, we had it packed, but the rice was not added as a side dish. Overall, it was a very disappointing evening. To make matters worse, we all had gastrointestinal problems, so I would strongly advise against this restaurant.

Underground Indian: The chicken curry swims in oil and is seasoned dispassionately. The chicken korma tasted like hollandaise sauce with frozen vegetables and a pinch of curry powder. Everyone can do this better at home and save themselves a shameful 15-16 euros for this impudence. Not recommended.

We had dinner here today. First something positive: The food and the kitchen were great! Extremely tasty and plentiful - more rice can be added free of charge upon request. When it comes to food, we would always come back and recommend it to everyone. Unfortunately, there was a very unpleasant situation with the waitress who, after a discussion with another guest, claimed that the Ukraine war “wasn't bad” and was a media spin. But since we went to the restaurant and not to the debating club, we avoided this discussion as much as possible. The behavior is completely inappropriate for a service worker and this confused opinion about the free media and the Urkaine war should be urgently reconsidered.

First-class restaurant with great food and a nice, funny waiter. What else can you say? Simply great.

The staff is very friendly and takes care of the guest. The store itself is rather small inside. As a traditional Rogan Josh eater, I have always been very satisfied with the food - although I have always noticed that the dish is “filled up” a bit with potatoes. There isn't a lot of meat in there. However, I noticed it very negatively with the Chicken Korma - which I took as an exception last time. Unfortunately, there was a large portion of frozen vegetables here - typical Indian carrots with a wave cut, beans, cauliflower. Unfortunately, this had nothing to do with authentic food and the original recipe.

The food was quite okay. Not particularly good, but more than okay, hence 4 out of 5 stars. My mango lassi was also in this area. The staff was extremely friendly and always tried to communicate on a personal level. The atmosphere was very pleasant. Not overloaded but not too simple either. It was: perfect.

Nice atmosphere, typically Indian furnishings, pleasant lighting. Service good. We personally didn't like a few comments. The food was good, nicely prepared. Despite ordering once spicy and once normal, normal was as hot as spicy and therefore too spicy for me. You should also allow plenty of time during normal meal times. It's well-filled at 7-8 p.m. and takes a little longer. We waited about 1 hour for the main course. Overall good, not outstanding.

Small but very fine Indian authentic restaurant, we celebrated our parents' anniversary there and were thrilled by the atmosphere. The restaurant manager was extremely friendly and humorously accompanied us throughout the evening. We really had a lot of fun. War Samstag mit einer Freundin da aufgrund der guten Bewertungen. Wir sind leider sehr enttäuscht. Das Essen war überhaupt nicht gewürzt, Spinat schmeckte angebrannt. Wir haben es komplett zurückgegeben. Dazu muss ich sagen das die Vorspeise gut war, die Linsensuppe war auch in Ordnung. Aber der Hauptgang war unserer Meinun nach leider ungenießbar. Wir haben zwar 25% Nachlass beim Bezahlen bekommen, dennoch sind wir sehr enttäuscht.

Kleiner gemütlicher Inder in meiner Nachbarschaft. Wir waren hier mit Freunden. Preise sind hier noch angemessen und die jungen Servicekräfte unaufdringlich und sehr freundlich. Kann ich empfehlen.

Kleines und putziges Restaurant, das Essen ist sehr gut. Die Naan frisch, das Madras sehr gut gewürzt. Wer den Gurkensalat bestellt um ein wenig Abkühlung zu bekommen, leider falsch. Dieser ist recht scharf und gut gewürzt. Reservierung ist fast schon Pflicht!

Absolutely delicious… very creamy

Wir dachten bisher wir haben ja noch nie irgendwo schlecht indisch gegessen - aber das Essen hier hat dem ganzen nochmal die Krone aufgesetzt. Es war absolut fantastisch! Service top und absolut auf Zack - einziger Punkt, der wie ich finde unbedingt angepasst werden sollte, ist die Möglichkeit mit Karte zahlen zu können. Ansonsten rundum perfekt.

Leider ist das Kartenlesegerät auffallend häufig defekt. „Heute nur Barzahlung“, das nervt etwas, insbesondere wenn man dann extra zur HASPA nach neben laufen muss. Sonst hätte ich 5 Sterne gegeben.

Ich hätte mir gewünscht, dass bereits zu Beginn einmal gesagt wird, dass keine Kartenzahlung möglich ist. So ist es immer unangenehm, wenn man eigentlich jmd einladen möchte und auf einmal alle zusammen legen müssen um die Rechnung in Bar zu begleichen.

Super freundliches Personal und sehr gutes Essen. Den schärfegrad der Gerichte kann man wählen. Wir waren mit der gesamten Familie dort und sehr zufrieden.

In diesem Restaurant wird man von Beginn an von einem freundlichen Team empfangen. Besonders positiv ist mir der Mittagstisch aufgefallen, bei dem man leckeres Essen zu einem guten Preis bekommt. Alle Speisen, die ich probiert habe, waren frisch und hatten das richtige Maß an Würze – würzig, aber nicht zu scharf. Wer gern indisch isst oder es mal probieren möchte, sollte hier vorbeischauen. Es lohnt sich.

Super leckeres Essen, toller und freundlicher Service kann ich nur weiter empfehlen!
