Restaurant Oriental Gourmet in Gronau (Westf.)

It was once again very tasty, although I think it was much better years ago. Were there for the first time with our little daughter and friends. As is often the case with small children, I had to change her diaper every now and then. There is space in the disabled toilet, so there was enough space. Super. However, the folding changing option is a disaster. The screws aren't completely in the wall, the thing wobbles like crazy and unfortunately it's also crooked, so my daughter kept sliding towards me. I was actually thinking about changing her on the floor (dirty) with my changing mat because I was afraid that the thing would break out of the wall. Something should definitely be done!!! Now the time at the table is also limited, since we haven't seen our friends for a long time, we had finished eating and there wasn't much going on, we asked if we could sit a little longer, yes, but only if we per Pay person €5/hour. That was clearly too much for us. We would have paid €5 per table. But precisely because over half of the tables were already empty, it was incomprehensible.

Since the change of ownership, the quality there has declined rapidly. The change of ownership is only mentioned sporadically on the entrance door on an overview of the "Gourmet Palast" of the increased prices, as on a waiter's pad handwritten the details of the new owner, such as the current name "Gourmet Palast". However, nothing there is gourmet, most of the meat is very dry and the fried rice could have killed someone. The service doesn't understand a word of German and for the price of around 30 euros you can clearly expect more and would be better off investing elsewhere.

Tested the lunch buffet and found it to be sufficient and good. For 18 euros per person you had the opportunity to eat for 2.5 hours and non-alcoholic drinks were also included. However, if you attach great importance to fresh preparation from the grill, you should not use the restaurant at lunchtime, as it is not available. For us, the selection of prepared dishes was completely sufficient.

Had dinner there with 8 people. Unfortunately it is true that it has deteriorated significantly compared to before. As many have already reported, the plates were still dirty and you had to look for clean ones. After half an hour they tried to remove the dirty ones after complaints. With so many complaints here, I don't understand how to sort them out or finally get a new dishwasher that works. Sometimes the food is lukewarm, but how do you want to keep it warm when 90 percent of people are no longer able to close the lid again. There were enough and sufficient drinks. Most people only enjoyed some of the food. But it's all you can eat and it's clear that you can't expect top quality for the price - it's Chinese fast food. Unfortunately after the change of ownership it got worse. But I think the new owners also have completely different conditions ahead of them, all costs are exploding. Electricity, gas, purchasing, you just have to cut back.

Went here on recommendation. Upon entering, it was already messy, cold (heating broken), and there were a number of patio heaters inside. Dirty dishes were found several times among the clean ones. The grill was not used. Only the griddle was in operation. We had to wait almost an hour for the first portion. The food was burnt in some places and oil was dripping off. A number of dishes from the buffet and the sushi were okay, but the fried rice, for example, was rock hard and way too greasy. Apparently they have a new owner and things haven't been good since. Once and never again here.

Dirty dishes, no heating so very cold, patio heaters set up in the restaurant, cakes frozen. That was probably our last visit.

Update after 6 years: The heater is - as can be read in other reviews: defective. The camping heaters were scattered around, some of them empty - as guests we were freezing. The food has deteriorated significantly after the last review 6 years ago. In some cases, even in warming containers, food is no longer hot, but just warm. In the past, you could simply "draw" drinks yourself and only have the glasses on the table. Now you get the bottle yourself and apparently have to bring it back to the boxes yourself. The choice of food seems to have become less. Chocolate fountain with burnt chocolate sauce. You can check this by smearing the chocolate on a plate with your finger. You will see small grains, which are the pieces of burnt chocolate. The tastes of the rice and pasta buffets left something to be desired. Too little whistle - too little love for food. It's a shame but we won't be visiting you anymore. You can't raise the price to €30 and then serve the guest a cold environment. Food was lukewarm, cakes tasted like nothing, hot sauces didn't even feel peppery. Too bad for the money.

The whole family was so excited about the buffet. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed, even though they kindly pointed out the change of ownership at the beginning as an excuse for the slight price increase. Hopefully these were just teething problems.

The waitresses had probably had a bad day during our visit, seemed very annoyed and unfortunately weren't friendly either. What absolutely didn't work for me was that you had to pay 2.50 euros for leftover food on your plate. A tally list is kept for each plate. For families who want to let their children try something, it can quickly become significantly more expensive. When I asked, it was explained to me that this also applies to children and that they should only take what they like. The intention of this measure is completely understandable to me, but it still ruined my visit.

Unfortunately, the alcoholic drinks are no longer all inclusive and with the free non-alcoholic drinks you have to wait ages for a waitress to come. The quality of the food and the taste have also decreased significantly. Won't see us again any time soon. An 11 year old boy who only ate chips, ice cream and fruit from a chocolate fountain was charged like an adult.

We were very disappointed at the beginning of December with the other owner of the shop because the shop was overcrowded with guests and the food was always replenished. There is almost no salad buffet anymore; Lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, corn...dressing bowls empty. I had to mix something from the vinegar/oil bottles. All the food was empty, no Dim Sun. When I asked if it would be refilled, there was no response; 20 minutes later everything is still empty. There were hardly any desserts and confectionery was completely empty. At 8 p.m. the coffee machine was already cleaned, so there was no more coffee. For 3 hours the price for an (empty) buffet is €30 per person. increased. This is a disgrace for the performance!

New Year's Eve in the Gourmet Temple has significantly lost quality compared to last year. Too many guests at the same time, so the buffet was very empty. The service really tried to accommodate. Went there for lunch today. Definitely won't go there again. I've rarely eaten so badly. The quality of the food leaves a lot to be desired. The duck I had was not edible. It was old, dry and tasted like rancid frying fat. The noodles didn't seem very fresh either, but you could eat them. The sushi had nothing to do with real sushi. At least the fruit was tasty. It's actually clear that you can't expect much for 17 euros. Next time I'll go and get a currywurst french fries from the snack bar.

It's quite nice here. The tables are arranged in such a way that you have the feeling of being among yourself. It would just be very nice if the staff would smile a little more every now and then. But overall it's pretty nice.

Unfortunately, this restaurant has declined greatly. A few years ago I was thrilled - the food was fresh, delicious and prepared with love. But on Tuesday evening the disappointment was great. The dishes seemed bland, the taste was bland, and the quality left a lot to be desired. It's a real shame to see a once good restaurant losing its standard. Been there again after a long time and probably for the last time. No plates available, food wasn't refilled in a timely manner, so the pots were constantly empty. The staff takes a plate away from you even though there is still food on it and you haven't finished eating yet. The food itself wasn't tasty either. Alcoholic drinks are not included in the price and overall it is more like a canteen. It's a shame, but for the money you can eat better somewhere else.

Well, it used to be tastier. Has worn off quite a bit. The freshly prepared meat was tough and some of the food at the buffet was cold.

We've eaten there several times, but we didn't like it. Hardly any vegetables, all very greasy sauces and no more salads. You also had to wait a long time for drinks.

The vending machine for sparkling water was better because you could sometimes get half a glass. We were there with several people who had the same opinion.

The food has become pretty bad compared to before. There is only 1 row of meat dishes and the rest is something breaded. The individual dishes are often not well done, the sauce is weak and there is no variety left. The only thing that's still tasty is the grill bar. The chocolate fountain hardly tasted like chocolate.

Although it was just under €18, we were ripped off for just under €30 last night, stuffed as we were. Not at all: too loud, too “untasty”. What makes it stand out again is definitely the service staff, who tirelessly bring drinks, take them away, clear tables, smile and keep the place running. There is little here for vegetarians or vegans. Even the vegetarian dishes had way too few vegetables. And there was a general selection of vegetables: nothing!

We come from Emsland. I have never experienced such a good all you can eat restaurant. There were so-called flowers given for Mother's Day. Thank you

Furnishings in the typical Chinese buffet restaurant style, but still pretty. Although it was sparsely attended, it was difficult to make out the waiters. Some of the unused plates were not clean. Sushi is poor even by buffet restaurant standards. The food tasted rather average. Offer of prepared vegetable dishes sparse. Unfortunately there was a hair in the fried rice. The presentation of the food with the glass lids and the large selection of fruits were positive. Maybe we had a bad day, but I don't want to risk a second visit.

I've been here several times. Delicious, extremely clean and nice staff. Price matches what you get. Huge offer!! Keep it up, I'll come back

Today we went to the buffet here for the first time in a long time and we bitterly regretted it. The buffet was from 12-2:30 p.m. and when we arrived at 1 p.m., many food containers were already empty. Sushi was then made at our request (the chef said he didn't have time for that!!!). The selection of sushi was rather meager. With difficulty I got another piece of fish (we don't eat meat), my husband checked several times within an hour, but the container for fish and shrimp remained empty. At 2 p.m. I asked again and after the service staff rolled their eyes, a piece was made “especially for us”. It was totally oily and full of soy sauce. I am of the opinion that if I pay the same price as all other visitors, I am entitled to the same meal. We ate little and not very well. For dessert, however, I ate delicious fresh fruit, which had already been put away at 2:10 p.m. when my husband wanted to get some! The service and quality of the food urgently needs to be improved. We were definitely here for the last time. Too bad!

I would give 0 stars if I could. The food is either completely burnt, dry, or too salty. I don't expect much from an "all you can eat" restaurant, but the food should at least be edible if you pay €23. Never again.

Had a great meal here. Delicious dishes, there is something for everyone. The products are of good quality and the staff is friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is 1 star less and gives room for development, because it is a bit messy in some places and the fluorescent lighting gives a cool impression. As far as good, there's nothing to complain about, an average Asian restaurant - plenty of choice at the buffet.

There were three of us there, we all had to vomit several times at the motorway service station.

I'm not a fan of negative reviews, but unfortunately I have to share my summary of the evening. We were just passing through and just wanted something quick to eat, so we chose this restaurant because €23 for an hour all-inclusive is unbeatable. The service was very friendly, the restaurant was spacious and modernly furnished, everything was clean and the food actually tasted good, but unfortunately the receipt came at the end. After we paid and were about 20 minutes on the way home, my wife got sick so we had to stop. She vomited several times and had extreme stomach cramps. Another 15 minutes later it was my turn and I threw up several times at a rest stop. It could definitely just be the food there as we only ate a little fruit all day. It's a shame because everything else was really fine.

We treated ourselves to a long weekend in Gronau/Enschede. We ate here on Friday (August 2nd, 2024). The food selection was very varied. Drinks are included in the price. The dessert selection was more than perfect. Except for the sushi, we enjoyed it so far. (The sushi rice was too sweet, but that's a matter of taste.) It was great that the sushi was freshly prepared on site. But why only 2 stars? ▪️The plates were always wet. I had the bad luck 3 times that the large, warm plates still had sauce and leftover food stuck to them. I find this hygienically questionable because it is a sign that the employee at the dishwasher is not working cleanly. Several plates are removed from the dishwasher belt/basket in an uncontrolled manner and without drying, sticking together. (Yes, I can judge that because I have worked in the catering industry long enough) ▪️The fruit selection was sensational. Unfortunately, the work there was also negligent. The prickly pears were not washed or pretreated. We were in the restaurant and still in the hotel busy removing the fine spines of the fruit with tweezers. There were 2 small children crying in the toilet because their hands were completely full of spikes. ▪️I found the clearing situation of the empties very disturbing. There was a loud clinking noise when things were being collected on a canteen trolley. And now it's getting disgusting. The tables next to us were occupied by several people. When they got up, the wagon was used again. The waste separation took place right next to us. I was able to get into the plastic bowls next to me!! look in because the car was standing in the aisle with the edge of the table in contact. Scratching loudly, the leftover food was slapped in there with the cutlery. It's a shame, we won't be coming back because of these experiences. Especially since the guests have probably adapted to the ambience. Just like at a party, the confectionery is scooped onto the plate using freshly licked fingers without tongs. No, it wasn't the children! The fruit is first tried at the buffet, smacking loudly, and then the plate is shoveled until some falls onto the buffet. Here, too, it is adults who are behaving completely wrong.

Very disappointed. The food doesn't taste good. BBQ buffet is fried with so much fat, just completely covered in fat, never experienced anything like that. In general the selection is poor and many pots are empty. You'd better go somewhere else.

I was there with my girlfriend for a few days, there were better times, so I prefer to drive a little further to the other all you can eat buffet. Some of the food was very salty and milky, so you couldn't eat it. Luckily we weren't charged an extra €5 because we returned a total of 1 plate. The dessert was unappetizing because there were flies flying around in the fruit cupboard, and sometimes you couldn't eat whole strawberries, and the ice cream didn't work either. As you can see in the photo, for me strawberry ice cream is reddish and not orange or in color. Let's see if something changes at some point

I can highly recommend this restaurant. The buffet is large and the selection is varied. The selection of drinks is also great and I don't have to start with the desserts - everything is very, very tasty. 🙂‍↕️😋 The staff are polite and the atmosphere is cozy and invites you to a good evening. I've been there twice and wasn't disappointed once. 👍

No wok, but baking trays. Wide choice of fish and meat. Enough choice with the ready-made dishes, but unfortunately they are not refilled immediately. The grill plate also didn't have much to offer and was not always cooked crispy. The desserts are plentiful and not bad. But.....all in all it is not worth repeating for me.

Been there again after a long time. Honestly disappointed and not worth the money. Many pots empty, no rice, no pasta, no sauces. Fish counter selection limited and sometimes no longer there. The fact that the drinks are delivered is also counterproductive. The staff is overwhelmed and just racing. The toilets are dirty, no flushing, loose fittings and the toilets are clogged. It used to be better. We definitely won't go there again.

Overall, the restaurant is worth a visit! If you like an Asian buffet, there is a lot on offer here. Nevertheless, there are points of criticism. The food, e.g. B. the pasta was cold - this is of course due to the fact that many visitors open the containers and sometimes don't close them again. In addition, the buffet offer €23 per person is limited to 60 minutes. After that you get 5€ on top. 60 minutes is a bit too short to eat comfortably. Here 1.5 hours would be much more relaxing. So points deducted for that. Overall, a recommendation if you are willing to pay the extra price.

Very bad restaurant, I paid a lot €28 and the food was old as if from the previous day and the service was also bad, The service is also bad. Little food and even if something runs out it takes a very long time to refill. I don't recommend anyone to go there. Every time I visit the restaurant it gets worse and worse, even though it should be the other way around. But this time it was very bad.

Bij binnenkomst zag het er netjes uit, maar hoe verder je naar binnen loopt hoe meer bergafwaarts het word. Het eten is allemaal koud of rouw of niet gaar! I'm shocked by the bad reviews. Guys... what's wrong with you? We just dined here and it is amazing. What a selection, what great service and please... What delicious food. Drinks are included and simply wonderful with children. Enough space in the restaurant and at the buffet. It's incredible. We'll be back and I'm so glad I wasn't put off.

I haven't been to Oriental Gourmet in a while. We finally got around to it again through a family meal. I have to say I was always very positive about the restaurant and really enjoyed eating there. However, on my last visit I was disappointed to find that the quality of the food had deteriorated significantly. The shrimp (except for one variety with beans and broccoli) were as firm as rubber. The chicken there was really tough. Both the rice and the noodles were completely overcooked. The taste of the sweet and sour sauce couldn't even be compared to the ones I've used before. In addition, the staff was completely confused that day and gave us strange looks when we wanted an additional water bottle for the family. It's a shame because I'll have to wait again before my next visit.
