Restaurant Olympia in Dresden

This Greek restaurant is no longer run by Greeks. The owners looked like Indians, but the waitress was Greek, and he seemed annoyed.

I had made an online reservation for my son's birthday. However, the door was locked because the restaurant is closed on Wednesdays. The website doesn't specify a closing day, and I received a reservation confirmation. I was, of course, extremely disappointed. The website and online reservation system urgently need to be improved!

Delivery via Uber Eats: Ordered food as a test to see if it was worth visiting the place. Conclusion: rather no. Food was well packaged and arrived quite quickly. At least it was still warm. Had gyros in Metaxa sauce with fries (I'll leave out the fries review because delivered fries are always ungrateful) and gratinated feta as a starter. Unfortunately, Metaxa sauce has no note whatsoever. Watery and pretty tasteless. Baked feta also like from the supermarket. It was okay and you could eat it, but no advertising for a restaurant visit. There are at least two Greeks in the area who are significantly better. The delivery prices are also too high for the quality and portion sizes.

The food was very good, but the service was unfortunately unfriendly. We arrived with a voucher booklet, so we didn't get any ouzo as a farewell gift. The marketing concept behind the voucher booklet was unfortunately very misguided. If it weren't for this, we would definitely have come again.

It should be a nice evening for two. But not in this restaurant. We had reserved beforehand and showed up on time. The welcome wasn't exactly friendly. Something like that... oh dear guests. We were assigned a table and brought the menu. When we got our drinks, we pointed out to the waiter that we had a gourmet voucher. He laughed and said that it couldn't be redeemed on a Friday or weekend. We had read the redemption conditions beforehand and everything was correct. We then wanted to show him the page of the gourmet voucher booklet but he refused. He insisted on his opinion and was quite unpleasant towards us. We then got up and left the restaurant. We will never go there again. It's an impudence if you allow yourself to be included in the gourmet voucher booklet and then don't even know the terms and conditions.

There was a large group of us and we were all there with the gourmet block (eat two meals, get one free). After this information, the waiter was more than unfriendly…. Restrictions from the buffet, not only in terms of food but also in terms of time... are not possible. The “normal” dishes were okay in terms of taste, but unfortunately not particularly worth mentioning. If you take part in such activities, you know what to expect! We still brought in a lot of sales with drinks, appetizers, etc... We were there in November last year and were also very happy with the Schlemmerblock (which we have been using for many years in Dresden and nationwide, always to our satisfaction), otherwise we wouldn't have come again. But definitely NOT AGAIN!!

I can only agree with the negative comments here. The food got here after 1.5 hours, was absolutely cold and limp AND the driver refused to bring the food up so I had to go downstairs with a sprained foot to pick it up. After there was no tip based on the delivery person's performance, he mumbled something (probably an insult) in a language I didn't know. Absolutely disgusting behavior. Never again.

The food from the buffet was very tasty and the service was friendly. However, the price of the buffet is a bit high. Still very good restaurant.

Sooooo we arrived at this restaurant at 8:10 p.m., showed our gourmet block and were immediately told what we were allowed to eat in the buffet. We didn't experience this on our first visit. We were allowed to choose everything once and not overdo it. So let's eat a salad, but not everything, and if it's warm, it's best to keep your plate half full. And for dessert either ice cream or yoghurt or cake. Unfortunately, not everything was there at this time. The side dishes such as fries and potato wedges were empty. The Cordon Bleu was empty. There were no more cucumbers, tomatoes and sauces at the salad buffet. And unfortunately the yoghurt was gone for dessert. Please ask if there is anything new to come. Unfortunately we received a very unfriendly response. So we were here for the second and last time. Table no.15 . In general, everyone would be very unfriendly today. We didn't know it the first time. Oh and the employees also take their food from the buffet and, for example, dip their bread in the tzatziki and the sauces from the warm buffet and then put it in their mouths. Very hygienic. We reserved a table online. Since we couldn't find the price per person on the homepage, we wanted to ask again by phone. We were informed that there was no more space available at the time we had booked. Although we had a written confirmation including a booking number, we were told: "It's better to order a table on the phone instead of online"

Update February 14, 2025 🌟🌟 What can I say, I've always enjoyed being here over the last few years. Only this time we were put in the basement, which is rather bad with a buffet because you have to go past the toilet and up the stairs before you get to the buffet. I have to say the service, the girls are nice and attentive but the men are quite unfriendly. In terms of food, it's ok but the buffet is rather sparsely refilled. Since you're sitting in the basement, you obviously don't notice when things are being refilled upstairs! In terms of price, I'm excited to see what we'll have to pay! 30 euros per person is absolutely not recommended by us. 5 years ago there were 4 stars 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 The staff was very accommodating. Buffet was super tasty and there was something for everyone. Food was good in itself, once you got the right one. Our reservation wasn't taken properly, so we had a seat in the middle of the room and ended up sitting in the way. The service was very confused and came across as very overwhelmed. We waited three quarters of an hour. The invoice was incorrect. The buffet is certainly worth it but the service is not enjoyable.

It was really nice again, nice staff and delicious food. Were warmly welcomed. Everything was clean, nothing to complain about. Come again.

You can't accuse the staff of being overly friendly. The voucher from the gourmet block was checked with skepticism, it was probably only set up for a buffet. The taste of the food was OK, but not exactly exorbitant for a Greek restaurant and the prices quoted. There was no ouzo either. The restaurant didn't do any advertising for itself with the voucher booklet!

Unfortunately no longer recommended since the change of operator. A larger group went to the buffet. Service was unfortunately subpar, although perhaps... At most 3 more tables were occupied and there were enough staff present. We didn't ask for more drinks, the dirty plates were now piling up on our table... which was also noticed, but continued to be ignored. The food is okay, but very creamy; whoever can tolerate it ;)... Unfortunately there was no feel-good atmosphere. Too bad. First time review via Lieferando: Ordered 2 dishes...think a little extra charge because of Lieferando... Food came in the specified time: both suppliers were very nice... "Olympia" is the only Greek restaurant far and wide that offers an all-you-can-eat buffet. The selection is generous, refills are quick and attention is paid to order and cleanliness. Prices have now reached a level that can no longer be estimated. It is all the more incomprehensible that blackened olives are offered instead of real ones. That doesn't fit at all with the otherwise extremely tasty, fresh food on offer. The rather worn seating furniture is also noticeable. The fact that the service is more cold than friendly hardly seems worth mentioning. The house is always full (and quite loud); you do your job, the guests come and go... Oh yes, finding a parking space nearby is not exactly easy. Just downtown. It's probably not the store's fault.

Greek cuisine and this food don't know each other. Have never met each other. Service, friendliness and customer service have nothing in common with the reality there. No wonder the store is constantly empty.

Four of us went out to eat today and wanted to redeem mobile vouchers because we were told that you can only redeem them from Monday to Thursday, even though it isn't written anywhere. I forwarded the problem to Schlemmerblock (VMG Vertriebs-Marketing-Gesellschaft). There wasn't even an ouzo with the bill, as is usual with Greeks, which is a shame. The food was tasty, but you shouldn't be very hungry here.

We were guests there on Christmas Day. Unfortunately, we experienced more than poor service from the waiters there. We had a mishap, a glass accidentally fell over. Despite there being fewer guests, no one from the staff came to help us. For a buffet, which was of a small standard, we paid €34.90 per person. The waiter told us the price when we collected it, it wasn't obvious at first glance. When we served ourselves at the buffet, the service staff regularly stood behind us and checked how much food we were eating. Unfortunately not recommended in our opinion, there are definitely better restaurants in Dresden.

I was in the restaurant on Christmas Day on December 26th, even though the price of the buffet has increased due to the special buffet, I think it's quite okay for the number of buffets. Seit 15 Jahren gehen wir regelmäßig in dieses Restaurant. Bei absolut jedem Besuch ist das Personal sehr freundlich und die Speisen hervorragend. Der letzte Besuch war am 25.11.2024. Das Restaurant Olympia in Dresden ist sehr zu empfehlen.

We were allowed to fill the plate once for the starter, main course and dessert - not all you can eat as usual. This meant that the gourmet block was rather inconvenient but well, what do you want to do. The taste of the food was typically Greek. Tasty but also very rich. Service was very reserved this time. Ambiance is just a bit poor. All in all, 4/5 * is completely okay. There is still room for improvement. Maybe next time.

Many of us had already ordered delivery to our homes, as I said, there was a lot going on that day, many also had it delivered to their homes, no complaints. A young lady calls us after they have eaten the food (or not) and said on the phone that she would refund the money, so the waiter said that the order could be given out again. Well, he couldn't have said anything more. The thing is, after the whole conversation, you write such a bad review just because you didn't get your money back... I honestly find it very sad! It's also a serious thing that only those people tasted bad the food, I mean there was a lot going on that day, a few more people could have written something bad about it, but oh well. We were there with the gourmet block - which was rejected on Friday evening. Unfortunately, it wasn't written anywhere. We stayed there anyway and ordered from the menu. When I got salt/pepper from the buffet to season it - it was taken away from me - it was probably decorative - the spice that was supplied was also more decorative 😅. Unfortunately, neither of us tolerated the food well... The facility could also use a backup.

Meine Frau und ich wollten einen schönen Abend verbringen, doch wir wurden sehr enttäuscht 😞 der Kellner hat uns sehr unfreundlich behandelt, wir haben uns nicht wohl gefühlt, auch wurde der Gutschein vom Schlemmerblock nicht eingelöst, angeblich würde dieser Freitag und Samstag nicht gelten, das stimmt so nicht, es ist im Schlemmerblock nicht vermerkt, der Gutschein gilt an jedem Tag in der Woche, noch etwas ist an unfreundlichkeit nicht zu überbieten, meine Frau hat sich erdreistet eine Pfeffer und Salzmühle mit an den Tisch zu nehmen, sie wurde vom Kellner regelrecht verfolgt, als sie am Tisch ankam hat der Kellner in einer Art und Weise die Mühlen wortlos ohne Erklärung vom Tisch gerissen, sowas geht garnicht, man fühlt sich als Gast nicht wertgeschätzt, ausserdem war das Zaziki von einer schlechten Qualität so dass mir noch am Samstag davon total schlecht war. Fazit, uns als Gäste sehen die nie wieder, es gibt bessere und freundliche Griechische Restaurants in Dresden und Umgebung

How terrible can delivery service be? Bifteki with feta doesn't deserve the name, meat almost cold, not good quality. The cheapest packaging that doesn't keep you warm is used for delivery. . There was just a hint of feta 5g or less in the meat. The meat and tomato rice had a neutral taste. Very small portion, had to eat a cheese sandwich afterwards. Farmer's salad was just as bland and tasteless. Seldom eaten so badly. And that for 30€! Has the owner changed somehow? That used to be way better. This won't happen to us again.

We have enjoyed staying here again and again for decades. After the change of ownership, there is now a clear reduction in the quality of the food and service, and the buffet is no longer so generous with refills. Of course the prices only go up. It was the last visit for us.

It was our first time at Olympia and what we immediately noticed was that the furniture was outdated and very worn, especially the benches. The salad selection at the buffet wasn't really great. It was only refilled when it was empty and what is out of the question for me is that it smells like old fat and the squid rings also taste like old fat.

The third star is only given because the service is friendly... We had the food delivered and I can't say it was tasty at all. The food was cold. There was suflaki which had more fat than meat, which I didn't know at all. The gyro with metaxa sauce had more fatty pieces in it than meat. The savings on rice were more than exorbitant. The garlic bread wasn't even crispy, as if it had just been put on the grill for a short time. We also ordered extra zarziki which was forgotten but we still had to pay. (But we didn't notice it until a little later.) Conclusion: We don't recommend it. It used to be really tasty but today it was anything but tasty. At least the customers are treated very friendly

Olive oil, herbs, olives. It's too expensive for that. However, garlic is not spared. The starter “Saganaki” was disappointing: This is 1 breaded and fried feta, without any side dish or sauce for €8.50. - The restaurant and the beer garden are very nicely decorated but it is far too warm inside in the summer (feels like 40 degrees).

Don't expect much from the dessert, it was ok. But given the price-performance ratio you have to give it some thought. Here you can eat as much as you want at the buffet for €22.90. That really speaks for itself. In addition, we had a voucher through the Schlemmerbook that the 2nd person eats for free. We also showed it right at the beginning. It also worked without any problems. The entire service, including always quickly clearing away old dishes, was impeccable. The traces of time have not gone unnoticed on the interior. But everything was clean and we are looking forward to the next visit because we will definitely come back. Addendum: Were there a second time now. This al with friends who also had a gourmet book. Now, however, this was refused to allow us to serve ourselves fully at the buffet. Now it said. With Schlemmerbook a salad plate, a main course plate and one dessert. Our repeated advice that we were only there a few weeks ago and that there were no restrictions was completely ignored. So it's a gamble here and this time it was a very bad experience in terms of service. Due to the uncertainty of how guests and the Schlemmerbook are treated here, we can no longer give a very good recommendation.

The service at Olympia Restaurant in Dresden is really great. I went there with my family and I'm so glad I chose this restaurant because the food was delicious and the staff are really hospitable. I recommend everyone to go there with their family.

The restaurant offers a daily buffet (€22.90/person). There is a large selection of different Greek specialties, with a salad bar and dessert. The staff, especially the assistants, are very friendly. You should definitely reserve in advance.

We wanted to try a new restaurant and since we hadn't been to a Greek restaurant for a long time, it was Olympia. First of all, I thought it was great how easy it was to reserve a table online. The restaurant was busy when we arrived. But the staff was very friendly and competent and seemed to have everything well under control. We were quickly shown to our table and despite the many guests it felt cozy (I've had a completely different experience elsewhere). The decor is tasteful and there is a play area for children in the basement, as I saw on the way to the toilet. We ate all you can eat, although our 8-year-old daughter was asked about her age and then only cost half the price. There was a large selection of many delicious dishes at the buffet. There was a hot buffet, a salad buffet and a sweet buffet. It was always refilled immediately, so that despite the many guests you were never left with empty containers. We ate very well, everything was very tasty. And once again a big compliment to the lovely waitresses, who always had a smile on their faces despite the stress and hustle and bustle. We would be happy to come by again soon.

I've been eating at Olympia regularly for years, always for the evening buffet and have never been disappointed. The staff is very friendly and attentive without being intrusive, as I unfortunately know from other restaurants. The food selection at the buffet leaves nothing to be desired, there are a number of salads, delicious meat dishes and many different vegetable variations and side dishes. You always feel welcome and the quality of service has never suffered due to the large number of visitors; a reservation makes sense. Gladly again and again. :)

Calamari partly not through. Fries were listed as a free side dish, but I still had to pay extra for them. My bill was split into 2 bills - fries said on both, free on one, chargeable on the other, along with 2 of my drinks. But only one portion was ordered. Looks like fraud to me...

My vouchers for the all-you-can-eat buffet, which I had purchased through Groupon just 6 days before and had already paid for, were not accepted because there was supposedly no longer an active business relationship with Groupon. No concession or accommodation from the employees. The restaurant manager only told the waiters that I had to get the money back via Groupon. Thank you too! Since I had invited several older guests to the Olympia, we had no choice but to resort to the à la carte menu. Eating from the all-you-can-eat buffet at the original price of €21.90 per person (!) really wouldn't have been worth it given the expected consumption of the older people. The fact is: If I had been there alone or just with my wife, I would have preferred another restaurant in the area. Whatever has led to the collaboration between Groupon and OLYMPIA being suspended, at least for the moment, it is unacceptable that the customer has to suffer as a result and is caught off guard in such a way. Unpleasant, yes, in front of mine Guests being turned away so abruptly. There could have been some concession from the management in the form that we could, for example, have taken part in the buffet at the price stated on Groupon (€16.50). But there was no way there either. But the food itself tasted good. However, the menu is very clear, which may have something to do with the buffet. Wir wollten mit dem Schlemmerblock Gutschein essen gehen. Laut Gutschein ist ein Hauptgericht gratis. Uns wurde erzählt, dass der nur für das Buffet zählt und man nur einmal den Teller (zusammen mit Salat und Nachtisch) füllen darf. Ich fühlte mich letztendlich betrogen. Der indische Grschäftsführer erzählte eine Geschichte das der Fehler beim Schlemmerblock liegt etc.. also nicht einsichtig. Wir haben dann einfach a la Vater bestellt, muss aber auch sagen, dass der Suvlaki Teller nur mit Reis nicht sehr ergiebig war… Ich bin etwas anderes vom Griechen gewohnt.. schade!

We were there on a Saturday from 7:30 p.m. We had the choice between buffet and a la carte. Since the buffet was almost empty, we opted for a la carte dishes. The salads at the front were quite okay. Starters tasted good, but there were few. The main courses were very tasty and plentiful, but the bread was hand-fetched from the buffet by the waiter. The plates were put away just as you were putting the last bite into your mouth. When paying by card, €4 more was deducted than we should have paid, which unfortunately we only noticed later.

We went to the Olympia today to eat because we discovered the restaurant in the Schlemmerblock. The service was also very nice at first and when we asked for the voucher we were immediately looked at strangely. We were told that only a buffet was possible (which isn't a bad thing), but then you were only allowed to take one plate per person for salad and main course and a small plate of dessert. That's it. When you went to the buffet you were observed very closely to make sure you didn't take more than one plate and didn't go to the buffet more than once. The food was OK, but nothing special.

I ordered online. When the food wasn't there after 40 minutes, I called. It said delivery would take place in 20 minutes. After another 30 minutes I called again. Suddenly they said there was no home delivery at all. Apparently they don't know anything about the services they offer online.

Eat like the gods on Mount Olympus. The Olympia is a nice Greek restaurant with a nice buffet. The selection of dishes is very classic and offers everything you would expect from a Greek restaurant. If you don't feel like the buffet, you can also choose dishes from the menu. The staff is friendly and serves quite quickly. In fact, the Olympia is furnished quite simply - without appearing bare. You won't find opulent statues and kitschy Greek decorations - but that's not a bad thing. We are there every now and then and will be there more often in the future. 4/5

I found the play area in the basement a bit unloving. Ambience and cuisine highly recommended.

We were there for the buffet. Was delicious. The staggered prices are also easy on the wallet, especially with children.

Unfriendly service, Attention voucher book users: the voucher is only valid for the buffet and you can only take one plate here. Then they left. Wasted money for the restaurant with 3 additional full-paying guests

Uns hat es gestern sehr gut gefallen. Die Speisen wurden immer wieder frisch aufgefüllt, es gab 4 Beilagen zur Auswahl und reichlich Fleisch und Fisch. Es hat sehr gut geschmeckt.Auch das Salatangebot ist reichlich genauso wie das Dessert, alles sehr schmackhaft. Der weite Weg nach DD hat sich gelohnt und wir kommen wieder. Wir waren sehr zufrieden und können es nur weiter empfehlen. Dafür das es Buffet gibt ist die Speisekarte sehr übersichtlich, da weiss man das es frisch ist.

Die Gaststätte ist gemütlich und für einen Familienabend sehr gut geeignet. Der Service könnte bisschen besser sein. Leider wurde unsere online abgeschlosse Reservierung nicht angenommen obwohl diese (durch ein Formular) bestätigt wurde. Wozu dann ein Internetauftritt mit möglichen Reservierungen?

Wir haben heute zum zweiten Mal Essen zum Liefern bestellt. Das Essen kam warm an und war sehr lecker. Der Fahrer (Omar) war außerdem über-pünktlich und sehr freundlich!

Das Buffet war echt gut und es gab reichlich Auswahl, gerade an Fleisch! Aber auch die Salatbar war gut gefüllt. Gerne wieder

Wir waren zu Silvester dort. :) Toller Service, leckeres Buffet 😊 Leider wurde der Ouzo vergessen, lag wahrscheinlich am Stress 😀

Wir hatten Silvester für 17 Personen gebucht und als wir da waren wurde uns gesagt, es gibt nur Buffet, obwohl in der Speisekarte die Speisen angeboten worden. Für einen Erwachsenen kam das Buffet 30 Euro und Kinder 17,50€ Wir sind dann alle wieder gegangen. Das war definitiv zu teuer. Wir waren schon oft in diesem Restaurant, das war gestern das letzte Mal.

Es war ein super schöner Abend.

Wenig Parkplätze, trotz vorheriger Bestellung wurde der Tisch erst bei unserem Eintreffen in entsprechende Größe zusammengestellt. Zum Mittagessen gab es ein Buffet. Mit Austeilen der Speisekarte hätte die kurze Info "bitte nur Getränke wählen" erfolgen können. Man wusste nicht ob man die Speisen lt. Karte doch bestellen kann und es gibt einen Unterschied zu der Speisekarte im Internet... . Das Essen ist sehr gut.

...das Essen war lecker und immer genug wieder aufgefüllt. Das Servicepersonal hat immer gleich die schmutzigen Teller wieder vom Tisch entfernt und war sehr aufmerksam, auch was das Bringen von Getränken betraf. Ich war erst skeptisch, weil es zu Weihnachten kein typisches Weihnachtsessen beim Griechen gab, aber das leckere Essen und die zufriedene Verwandtschaft haben uns das schnell vergessen lassen.

Einfach der beste Grieche den ich kenne.☝️Und der Preis stimmt.
