The food was delicious. The lamb chops were especially great. But the fries, the gyros, and everything else were simply delicious too. The service was quick, attentive, and very friendly. The prices are totally reasonable. The only downside is that, if I saw correctly, you can only get into the restaurant via the large staircase. So, it's inconvenient with a stroller, wheelchair, etc. But there are also comfortable seats outside. We'll be back! :-)

A cozy Greek restaurant with friendly service. The moussaka lacked cinnamon, and the meat dish, with its very marbled gyro, wasn't particularly convincing. I also didn't like the fact that, despite the generous price, you had to pay extra for the side dishes. But there are plenty of other dishes on the menu, and we were probably just having a bad day.

I've visited this restaurant several times in the past and have never been disappointed! The food is delicious (the feta cheese is my favorite) and the staff is very accommodating 😊 I'd be happy to come back again.

We ate at Oikos for the first time yesterday. The host greeted us very warmly and with a touch of humor. After we finally decided what to eat (the selection is fantastic and vast, and finally something completely different from the usual "gyros baked with Metaxa sauce"), our colorful selection of appetizers arrived, along with gyros and delicious lemon potatoes. We can recommend all of the appetizers without exception. Every appetizer—whether the goat cheese, the sesame balls, the eggplant puree, or the appetizer plate—was a taste experience. We have found our new favorite Greek restaurant in Hanover and would love to come back with this friendly team! Thank you for the great evening.

We were here for the first time today. But definitely not the last. The menu offers so much variety. There's still a lot to discover. From the appetizer platter to the stuffed pork tenderloin, the stuffed calamari with spinach as a side dish, and finally the dessert, everything was excellent. As some have already written: Finally, some creative Greek cuisine. The staff, as well as the chef, were very attentive and friendly. Everything ran smoothly.

We specifically asked if we could eat inside because it was already too chilly outside that evening. However, after a while, we had to get the menu ourselves and still hadn't been served after 18 minutes, so we left. Therefore, service only gets 1 point. I can't comment on the food: We didn't get any. Conclusion: Probably more for regulars.

Great location, both inside and out! Within walking distance of Hannover Zoo! Delicious starters, such as zucchini and salad, and tasty main courses, such as octopus and grilled liver, with a delicious rosé (Nautilus). A very friendly host and attentive service round out the very positive experience, as does the Greek mocha.

Excellent authentic Greek food, served in a less "standard" way than some competitors. Fresh bread for starters. Homemade fries, souvlaki beautifully grilled and seasoned. Pleasant, friendly staff; restaurant in close proximity to Hermann-Löns-Park and Tiergarten. We will be back.

I was thrilled! The food was incredibly delicious – we were especially impressed by the gyros and the fresh meze appetizers. The portions were generous, the meat tender and well-seasoned. The service was very friendly and attentive, and you immediately feel welcome. The atmosphere is cozy and typically Greek – including Greek music in the background. I'll definitely be back!

The best restaurant in Hannover!

Definitely NOT a recommendation! The service is unfortunately abysmally bad.... We wanted to eat here with eight people. After being deliberately ignored for over half an hour, we finally got four menus for eight people. We ordered after another 20-30 minutes. After another long wait, five of the eight orders were brought. Two people were told that the main course they had ordered was unfortunately no longer available – after a total of almost 1.5 hours of waiting! It's a shame the kitchen can't properly handle such a small group. We probably won't be coming back here anytime soon, even though the food here is undoubtedly delicious – when it's actually served....

Best Greek restaurant in Hanover 💙

Food overall was ok. Presentation left a lot to be desired though. I was served a beetroot-walnut 'salad' that consisted of beetroot chunks from a can. The walnuts were finely chopped, drowned in oil. Both were served on a large plate next to each other, looking forlorn and disconnected. Overall, the food was tasty but didn't have the 'wow factor'. The hot chips were overcooked and too salty. The gambas were overpriced for what they were. Service: The owner was very friendly and checking in evety now and then. The service staff was somewhat inattentive, some drinking glasses were dirty, and it was a challenge to get the staff's attention at times. A full 15-minute wait to be able to settle the bill isn't that comfortable either. Atmosphere: great and friendly atmosphere sitting outside. Only downside was the lack of cooling. There was neither a fan nor any water vapour to make the humid 36 degrees more comfortable. Therefore, it was boiling hot. The inside didn't have an a/c either.

We had dinner as a group this week and were able to spend a wonderful time outside in the garden. The ambiance is fantastic, and Odysseus is the kind of host you could wish for. As for the food itself, there's only one thing to say: breathtaking! Excellent! We tried a variety of outstanding mezedes, and everything was a taste explosion. The attentive team always served new dishes at the right time. Mezedes served at the table also bring a lot of conviviality to the group! An all-around perfect concept and dishes you can't find everywhere. Full marks to Odysseus and the team!

Poor service, okay food. We (four people) visited the restaurant on June 20, 2025. The wait was far too long. In addition to the main courses, we ordered two dips, which should have arrived after 10 minutes. When we asked if the waitress could ask in the kitchen how long it would take, we were told that it was too loud there and she couldn't ask. We didn't get our food until an hour after ordering; our dips were forgotten and only brought after we asked again. Unfortunately, the food wasn't anything special either. We received no apology for the long wait. Another table of four people next to us also had a long wait; they had also ordered dips. Another table next to us, who had also ordered expensive wine, ordered the same dips half an hour after the four people and received them immediately, while the table with the four people still had nothing. The focus seems to be clear 💸 It's a shame, but we won't be visiting this restaurant again any time soon!

I was here a few weeks ago. The food was excellent, with a huge selection and something for everyone. There were eight of us, and everyone loved it. The service was fantastic and the chef was incredibly friendly, who shared a lot about the ideas behind the dishes. Excellent value for money. Highly recommended.

Four of us went to Oikos for a birthday dinner today. Based on the excellent reviews, we had high expectations. Unfortunately, after this evening, we absolutely cannot confirm that. The service staff is so poor, we've never experienced anything like it. After a friendly greeting, we were allowed to choose a table in the relatively empty beer garden (about 30% occupied). After a full 25 minutes, the "boss"—that's what the other server called her—took our drink order. After the drinks were brought, the food was ordered. When we ordered, we were told that they didn't have bifteki today. Okay, so that's just how it is, but they could have said that beforehand when we handed over the menu! However, 20 minutes later, a bifteki was served at the neighboring table. After we attempted to clarify the situation, the owner himself came and apologized for the inconvenience. He tried to explain the situation to us and promised us a "bifteki." ``` What was served next, however, was the icing on the cake!!! The bifteki that was served was still completely raw in the middle!!! After our complaint, the food was taken back without a word and, without a word of apology, was delivered again after about 30 minutes. The other guests had, of course, already finished their meals. In summary, the following can be said about this visit: 1. The service staff is abysmal (they'd rather go around the corner for a smoke). 2. The service staff's German skills are very poor. This leads to misunderstandings and communication is very difficult. 3. The wine glasses (we had two) are probably tarnished and not properly polished by the dishwashing liquid. 4. The mezedes and main course were ordered separately, and they were explicitly advised to serve them separately. In other words, the mezedes should be served first, and only when they were ready should the main course be served. Of course, almost everything was served together. 5. The food itself, except for the raw bifteki, was good but not as outstanding as expected. 6. To top it all off, we were offered an ouzo. Of course, that didn't arrive either.

Excellent Greek fare away from the often meat-heavy restaurants with the twelfth inconsequential Zeus plate. That's not to say there aren't great meat dishes... A journey in terms of taste, some things outside of what you normally get. From our point of view, very authentic and worth a visit. Be brave in the menu, it's worth it 👍

This restaurant is overrated. Food was ok. The main dishes came in small portions. Seems regular and simple where you can get the same quality in any Turkish restaurant with less price. The whole area indoors was smoky and it was coming from the kitchen therefore your clothing will smell after the end of your stay. Service above all was extremely disappointing. The waitress made us wait nearly 20mins before anyone could come to take orders of drinks. The table seating was very uncomfortable and too small or cramped. Would not recommend it to anyone. Or rather find another Greek restaurant in Hanover which are plenty.

We came here for a company dinner and had a really great evening! From the first moment we were warmly welcomed and immediately felt at home. The restaurant is modern, but at the same time very cozy. You can immediately tell that it was designed with great attention to detail and Greek culture. The absolute highlight of the evening was the food! We ordered a selection of different dishes and were pleasantly surprised because EVERYTHING tasted very good! We were particularly impressed by the fish platter with octopus - the octopus was incredibly tender and perfectly seasoned. Without a doubt the best octopus I have ever eaten! The staff was very friendly and attentive, and the operator took personal care of us and introduced us to the philosophy of Greek cuisine. That made the evening particularly nice. :) We would definitely come back at any time and can only warmly recommend the restaurant!

🚨 My truthful 3-star review, in which I rated the food eaten and was amused by the arrogant responses to the negative Google reviews, had the restaurant deleted for "defamation" (it was restored after an objection and proof of my visit). Apparently some others too, because there are no more reviews below 4 stars. Weird, weird, but fits the tone of the answers here. It's a shame when you don't seem to tolerate criticism. We would have liked to come back, but we do not support such dubious attempts to prevent truthful criticism and thus deceive customers.

Ich hatte bei Google die folgende 3-Sterne-Rezension anlässlich meines Besuchs am 03.09.2022 hinterlassen: "Unsere Vorspeisen und auch das Moussaka waren sehr lecker, doch das Bifteki hatte leider eine merkwürdige Konsistenz und war kaum gewürzt, das kennen wir von anderen Griechen deutlich besser. Der Service ist super organisiert und auf Zack. Wollte ursprünglich 4 Sterne vergeben, doch für die arroganten, unprofessionellen Antworten des Inhabers auf die negativen Rezensionen hier gibt es einen Stern Abzug. Schade." Das nahm das Lokal im Februar 2025 zum Anlass, meine Rezension von Google löschen zu lassen (nach Einspruch und Beweis meines Besuchs wurde sie wiederhergestellt). Mir scheint, es wurden auch andere Google-Rezensionen entfernt, denn es findet sich keine Rezension unter 4 Sternen mehr. Komisch, komisch, aber passt zum arroganten Ton in den Antworten auf Google-Rezensionen unter 5 Sternen. Schade, wenn man keine Kritik zu vertragen scheint. Wir wären gerne wiedergekommen, aber unterstützen auf uns sehr dubios wirkende Versuche, wahrheitsgemäße Kritik zu unterbinden und damit Kunden zu täuschen, nicht.

Every time I go to Hannover, I come straight to oikos. Everything homemade. I highly recommend. Unique in Hanover and unique experience. I adore.

Our visit was fabulous! The restaurant is well located and easy to reach by public transport. The furnishings are seasonally coordinated, harmonious and just right. Fortunately, there are no boring white sculptures here. The meals were good. The portions are generous. Unfortunately we didn't like the coleslaw. However, the owner noticed this independently and deleted the item from the invoice. We'd love to come back.

We went to the Oikos restaurant in November with a larger group to celebrate our birthday. We had already selected the dishes during a nice preliminary discussion. We were all very impressed with the food, service and ambience. We will definitely come back! Thank you!

Das Restaurant Oikos in Hannover-Kirchrode bietet eine moderne griechische Küche in gemütlichem Ambiente mit freundlichem Service und großem Außenbereich. Vorweg wird selbstgebackenes Weißbrot mit Olivenöl gereicht. Die Vorspeisen, wie „Fetakäse im Ofen gebacken“ (7,90 €) und „Flogeres“ (6,90 €), sind schmackhaft, auch wenn Letztere etwas zu lange frittiert wurden. Hauptgerichte wie „Piato Ena“ (17,90 €), „Hähnchenbrustfiletspieße“ (12,90 €) und „Lachanika“ (6,90 €) überzeugen, wobei das Gemüse für meinen Geschmack etwas zu bissfest waren. Die Getränke sind preislich angemessen und zum Abschluss gibt es einen Ouzo aufs Haus. es werden alle gängigen Kreditkarten akzeptiert. Das Oikos ist daher eine klare Empfehlung und es war nicht unser letzter Besuch.

First impression from the outside is really very nice, even in winter it is important that the outside area is well maintained. From the inside the whole thing is confirmed, very cozy, modern and inviting! The furniture is also high quality and comfortable, nothing is worse than when the tables wobble and the chairs barely stay standing. Unfortunately we stood in the entrance area for a few minutes, were obviously noticed by 2-3 service staff but were left standing. Unfortunately, it's always a bit counterproductive to the start of a beautiful evening. Unfortunately, the service generally seemed a bit stressed, which is why cutlery was forgotten to be put down, drinks were served incorrectly and the table was cleared over the counter with the announcement that the plates should be handed over. I would have simply wished that people would come back to the table after dinner, also to check whether everything was fine. Unfortunately, this was completely missing. Now we (2 people) were there between Christmas and New Year's Eve, so you have to take that into account. We had a really nice evening with really great food and drinks, you can tell straight away that high-quality food is used here and they put a lot of thought into having a modern and attractive menu! Very, very high praise! We will always come back.

We were there for the very first time and not for the last time. Simply delicious food, great ambience, super friendly service. The food is really amazing. Finally not a completely overloaded plate, but really great food at a high level. The modular composition is perfect. Finally I can eat something other than just fries and/or rice with my meat. The side dishes are enough for 2 people. We'll be back.

The bottom line is unfortunately disappointing. We ordered olives & pepperoni and a salad in advance - so far so good. Unfortunately the main courses were not good. Cold gyros, over-salted spinach. Tomato rice and leg of lamb were “okay.” Oregano was sprinkled over all the dishes, even if the taste of some of it didn’t harmonize at all. Side dishes and drinks are unreasonably expensive. We told the service afterwards what we liked and what we didn't like. But I don't think it was passed on because we were asked three more times if it tasted good.

Very modern atmosphere! Super friendly staff! In my opinion the food deserves more than 5 stars! All the dishes we ordered were fresh and delicious! The highlight was the warm starter: chickpea balls coated in nuts and refined with honey. This is a MUST that everyone should try. Hats off to the inventor of this dish! I didn't like the food at all 🙁 The dish had no spices and no taste. Very small portion. The waitress was standing at the door, very strange? What was awesome was the waiter who took the order. The nails were very disgusting I've lost my appetite. People aren't honest, if it doesn't taste good you should give your opinion. And we also told the boss personally. Most customers just don't have an ass in their pants.

We visited the oikos on what was probably the last warm summer evening. The outside area was well filled. The decor is reminiscent of a Greek tavern, which I really like. The staff is calm without being intrusive. Our order came after a short time, with a short break between each course. The portions were plentiful and the quality was absolutely delicious. Special requests will be addressed without hesitation. The prices are reasonable given the quality.

Yesterday we went back to the Oikos restaurant in Kirchrode. We sat outside at a large table for six, which was very pleasant given the nice weather. As always, the owner's service was at the highest level - almost like in a star restaurant. The personal recommendations and the constant introduction of new products are particularly impressive. This time, for example, I discovered freshly squeezed Greek apple juice - a real treat! The food was also excellent again. I particularly appreciate that you can order meat and side dishes individually. I chose a green salad with a delicious lemon and olive oil dressing, which was given a great touch by the spring onions. Of course, the tzatziki was a must for everyone – an absolute classic. The baked feta was of excellent quality, and my grill plate left nothing to be desired: tender chicken, very good gyros, liver and a kind of bratwurst with leeks. In terms of price, the Oikos is on the higher side, especially if you want to try a lot. But there are also ways to eat cheaper. Overall, a wonderful place for anyone who appreciates fine Greek cuisine. Conclusion: 5 out of 5 Tzaziki – definitely a recommendation for lovers of Greek cuisine!

My daughter invited my wife and me to dinner at OIKOS when her youngest granddaughter was starting school. After a very good and tasty starter (1 portion of tzatziki), I ordered "veal liver braised in the pan on onions" and the "beetroot salad". Unfortunately, the liver was not edible, the tendons had not been cleaned from the liver, not even remotely. The salad was served with an indefinable brown dressing, without any taste, simply inedible. The complaint addressed to the service staff was probably not forwarded or ignored by the owner. I can definitely not recommend this restaurant; For me it's simply puzzling and absolutely incomprehensible how the other reviews have more or less only positive content. 2 points for the location. I'm sorry!

Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio is very inadequate. For example the lamb skewer for €20. Rice and vegetables have to be ordered separately for around another twelve euros. Quality of the lamb not okay. Tastes extremely like lamb. Usually it has just a hint and subtle taste of lamb. Vegetables, rather neutral in taste with a lot of oil. Tomato rice was good. For the price, I expect S. Schumi to have significantly better quality and more flair for the side dishes. And we mentioned this to the waitress, but apart from saying it was a pity, unfortunately nothing came back.

Because of the reaction. Yes, the Kritharaki are not on the menu as a side dish, but there were dishes with the noodles. The staff is great and the food too. Only 4 stars because there was no coleslaw and no Kritharaki noodles at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

I was at Oikos with a friend on Sunday. We wanted to enjoy the beautiful atmosphere (outside) with delicious food. Unfortunately, only the ambience was nice. The food was carelessly placed on the plate and side dishes had to be paid for separately. My girlfriend had 3! Scampis swimming in plenty of tomato sauce. The spinach that came with it was almost raw. My chicken skewers lay lonely on a plate. Needless to say, the prices were unreasonable. The manager of the house was very stressed and not very friendly. Conclusion for both of us: never again Oikos!

Possibly the best Greek restaurant in the region, at least we haven't met a better one yet. Both in terms of the ambience and the quality of the perfectly prepared and sometimes exceptional dishes, we are at a top level here! We have eaten here several times. The food is really tasty, but the boss really noticed us negatively today. My mother is gluten intolerant and told the waitress this at the beginning. Unfortunately, we hadn't read that there was bulgur in the salad we ordered, so the waitress volunteered to tell us! Offered to exchange the salad. We said it wouldn't be a big deal if it didn't work and we would still keep the salad, but she insisted on exchanging it. The original salad was apparently thrown away untouched (the boss's statement). In the end both dishes were on the bill even though my mother hadn't even touched the first one. The original salad cost €16. After discussing it with the chef, he justified himself by saying that the dish had been thrown away and that he would therefore have made a “minus”. Of course we would have kept the salad if we had known that we would have to pay €16 for it. Why should we throw away €16?! Then we would have taken it with us or eaten it?! The waitress could have also informed us that we would still have to pay for the salad and that she would not exchange it for free, as was claimed. After discussions, the boss asked for half the price (8€). Which of course is still cheeky for a salad that we didn't eat?! We won't be coming back and will also advise our friends not to eat here. There are enough other restaurants. A pity.

We had lunch with our two children. First of all, you have to say, super child-friendly. Food was also very tasty. The only thing I didn't really like were the fresh fries, they probably should have been fried a little longer, but I still ate them :). The restaurant is recommended. We will come back without children and then eat more in peace :)

What a culinary highlight! A pleasant contrast to the usual Greek food. Delicious starter (Tarama), very fresh vegetables and great salad, delicious lamb skewers. Everything in a nice atmosphere on the terrace. We recommend!

Wir waren leider nicht zufrieden. Vorab: das Personal ist wirklich sehr nett. Wir hatten verschiedene Kleinigkeiten, das lag vor allem daran, dass es keine richtigen Hauptgerichte gibt, sondern man sich alles selbst zusammenstellt. Das Fleisch war okay, der Käse aufgrund eines Honigmantels sehr schwer zu Essenzen zu schneiden. Die Beilagen (Reis und Kartoffeln) waren sehr ölig und nicht wirklich lecker. Zur Vorspeise gab es Rote Beete mit Walnuss, das waren einfach Rote Beete Würfel mit ein paar Krümeln, und dafür etwas zu teuer.

A really great refuge for a warm evening outdoors, far away from the loud hustle and bustle of the city center with really good food and a very diverse menu! So we repeatedly ordered and enjoyed the numerous and very tasty "Mezedes" as "Greek tapas" and were very enthusiastic about both the variety in terms of warm/cold and the specially selected cheese variations. The fact that you receive excellent Greek care and a very warm welcome makes the visit all the more beautiful and authentic. The boss and team are very approachable and are happy to tell you a little more about the story behind the individual dishes. The recommended wines are also always very tasty and go perfectly with a lovely evening on the terrace with all the delicacies. The ambience is really excellent, both inside and out! For us, it's always worth a bike ride out of the city area - and hopefully it won't be overcrowded soon! :P

Guter Grieche mit feiner Küche und außerordentlich freundlichem Personal. Das Tsatsiki nicht zu knoblauchlastig, ein wunderbarer, warmer Schafskäse mit Gemüse, gegrillter Oktopus mit Grillgemüse ohne Schnickschnack, gegrillter Thunfisch - alles lecker, die Preise angemessen. Auch erwähnenswert das exzellente Olivenöl und das hausgemachte Brot. Leider nur zu Besuch in Hannover, sonst wären wir öfter hier.

Immer wieder, egal ob mit dem Mann, der Freundin oder in Familie und großer Runde, es ist für uns ein perfekter Platz! Danke an das Team für ganz viele tolle Stunden bei Euch!!

The service was great!!! The ambience is also great. We had a really big table. We hadn't finished the starters yet when the main course arrived. I criticized that. To be honest, the reaction wasn't great. The boss said: We always do it like that, what's finished goes out. And added: “You’ve probably never been to Greece.” That annoyed me a bit. Found that pretty impossible.

Slightly more upscale restaurant. However, the higher price is justified for this incredibly delicious meal.

My first visit today convinced me. Delicious food and well-chilled drinks.
