We had Eritrean food for the first time today, and it was phenomenally delicious. Great service, excellent value, and a subtle flavor unlike anything we've ever tasted before. A must-try!

Very authentic and delicious (you actually eat with your hands) – you can tell the owners put a lot of heart and love into their food. I think it's great that the restaurant brings variety to Remscheid's culinary scene.

First time at the African restaurant. Everything is freshly cooked, so it takes a bit longer! The coffee roasting is interesting to watch. Eating with your fingers takes a bit of getting used to at first, but then it's fun!

This was our first time eating at this restaurant and we were very pleased. We received a friendly welcome, and the waitress helped us choose our dishes. It was delicious and an interesting new experience! The coffee ceremony is also highly recommended!

Yesterday we had a wonderful evening at an African-Eritrean restaurant and would like to share our positive experience. There were four of us there, and each of us treated ourselves to the set menu for two – a colorful mixed platter with five different dishes. Everything tasted truly outstanding: aromatic, richly spiced, and simply delicious! A note for anyone who doesn't tolerate spicy food very well: At least one person in the group should be prepared to eat spicy food, as some of the dishes are quite spicy. Traditionally, the food is eaten with the hands – along with the typical Eritrean flatbread (injera). However, cutlery is available upon request, which we gladly used. This way, we ate in a mix of traditional and European ways – a very pleasant combination. The prices are absolutely fair and more than appropriate for the experience. It was a bit frustrating that we couldn't enjoy one of the highlights because we didn't know it had to be pre-ordered: the traditional, freshly roasted coffee served with popcorn – definitely a real highlight! Important: This coffee must be ordered in advance, so it's best to mention it when making your reservation, so you won't end up like us ;) Conclusion: A great culinary experience with authentic flair, friendly service, and fair value.

My girlfriend and I visited the restaurant for a date and we were very positively surprised in all aspects. First of all, the food tasted incredibly good, we were completely full at the end. Everything was priced very fairly. The service was very friendly and accommodating and we felt very comfortable. In addition, the interior design was very nicely designed. My boyfriend and I went on a date here. The service was super friendly, very accommodating and we didn't wait long for the food. If we had any questions, everything was explained to us. There were even hygiene products in the women's bathroom that you could take if you needed them. Everything is clean and the food is really tasty. There is a place for very beautiful art on the wall in the interior. In terms of price-performance ratio, it is very worth it and I would recommend the restaurant to everyone <3

We were warmly welcomed and felt very comfortable. The restaurant was beautifully decorated! We ordered the vegetarian platter for two and we were more than happy with our choice. The food was delicious and just fun to eat! You could try a bit of everything and it was all delicious. You had to wait a bit for the food but it was worth it. The boss prepared everything fresh herself in the kitchen and you really enjoyed it. I recommend anyone who wants to try something new to come here.

The restaurant wasn't heated and the service was friendly but just wasn't attentive or present. You also had to wait almost 1 hour and 30 minutes for the food. Food was very tasty. Still wouldn't go there again

Very tasty food and very friendly service. The restaurant has a bar atmosphere in the front area, but that doesn't bother you. The rear, smaller room is a little more neutral. Everything is very clean and tidy. I've had Ethiopian or Eritrean food several times and this one was extremely good. My companion and I shared the mixed, vegetarian platter. Don't be fooled by the seemingly small quantity... The bread fills you up. And it's eaten with your fingers... It's best to let the friendly boss explain it to you

We really enjoyed the food. It wasn't our first time eating East African food and we weren't disappointed, a real win for Remscheid. Service also great! Unreserved recommendation.

The restaurant is not very large and relatively simple, but lovingly furnished. The food is awesome. Likewise the service and the employees. All in all, a high-quality culinary experience. You won't regret eating there

The second visit to the Ngsti-Eritrea restaurant was also pleasant and the food was again very good. It's just a shame that more guests don't find their way here, because it's actually an asset to Remscheid. So just try it out.

The food is very good. Just a little unusual to eat with your hands. They also have good drinks and the service is very friendly and helpful. There are also many vegetarian and vegan dishes.

Something completely different and super tasty. Everything came freshly prepared and hot to the table. Eating with your fingers was also a new experience, and it worked quite well except for the last bit. Very nicely furnished and decorated. Strangely, despite it being a Friday evening, it was very empty, which I don't understand. And unfortunately there was no coffee ceremony today, which was a shame, I would have liked to have tried it. But still 5 stars because of the good, exceptional food. Next time the coffee ceremony has to work :)

We wanted to “try out” something different than the usual restaurants and were pleasantly surprised. Very nice service, delicious food. We will be back definitely.

We found the restaurant by chance while looking for something to eat in the area. Because we weren't that hungry, we shared two starters and a mixed platter for two people with three people, and then had the coffee ceremony. The food tasted great and it was definitely enough. A wonderful evening

Today we returned to Ngstri Eritrea. The boss was completely alone in the shop today due to illness and still took very good care of the food and service. We ate the mixed platter of various vegetarian and meat dishes for three people and we enjoyed it very much. Eating with your hands (cutlery was offered) was a great authentic experience. The different dishes (chickpeas/lentils, spicy chicken, two types of beef stews, spinach, salad) were very tasty and different. The wine is delicious and the prices are really fair to affordable for today's times. We would be happy to come back when the opportunity arises and look forward to this exotic food in our city.

We ate at Ngsti-Eritrea. We ordered 4 dishes and 4 drinks. 3 dishes were delicious, one dish (stew) was unfortunately so extremely spicy that you could hardly eat it. It really hits the stomach. It said on the menu that it was spicy. But there is a huge difference between edible hot and not edible hot.

Es war ein Versuch, mal etwas anderes zu essen, als asiatisch oder die ganze europäische Schiene und der Verduch ist gelungen :-). Hatte Spinat mit Rindfleisch, dazu afrikanisches Bier - gegessen wird mit den Fingern mit dünnem Fladenbrot. Ein gelungener Abend der wiederholt wird. Kleines Restaurant und die Zeiten sind etwas merkwürdig, aber das Essen ist großartig!

Ein sehr nettes Restaurant. Sehr ursprüngliche eriträische Küche, Wir hatten gemischte Speisen auf Injera angerichtet. Lecker und ganz frisch. Der Service war sehr nett und zugewandt. Wenn wir wieder einmal im Remscheid sind, gerne wieder.

Begeistert hat uns der Abend in diesem kleinen Lokal. Weil es so authentisch Afrika ist. Wir freuen uns auf den Weihnachtsurlaub in Ostafrika und da war die Idee ein afrikanisches Reastaurant zu suchen, geboren. Und es hat abgeliefert! Der Geschmack, köstlich. Wir haben die große Platte bestellt und weil es einfach so lecker war, je eine weiters Gericht hinterherbestellt um mehr von diesen Speisen zu probieren. Zum Abschluss die Kaffeezeremonie probiert und mit der Afrikanischen Brille die ich als Fan dieser Kultur trage, möchte ich hiermit Danke für einen wunderschönen Abend sagen. Wer weltoffen und neugierig durchs Leben geht, muss hier einmal vorbeischauen. Wir werden es bestimmt öfter tun!

Super gutes Ost-Afrikanisches Essen, mal was ganz anderes. Außerdem Bierspezialitäten die es so in Deutschland nicht zu kaufen gibt. Sehr nette Inhaberin, es war allerdings ziemlich kalt, dass kann man allerdings bei den Energiepreisen niemanden verübeln, trotzdem 1 Stern Abzug im Bereich Ambiente dafür.

Das Essen ist ein Erlebnis wert. Wi kommen sehr oft hierhin zum essen. Der Service ist sehr sehr liebevoll, hilfsbereit und professionell. Das Restaurant ist sehr freundlich und schön eingerichtet wie im eigenen Wohnzimmer. Vielen vielen Dank, wie immer! 🫠

Liebevoll geführtes kleines Restaurant. In dem traditionell ohne Besteck gegessen wird. Mit ein wenig Übung klappt das auch gut. Ob vegetarisch oder mit Fleisch sehr lecker. Plant unbedingt Zeit für die Kaffeezeremonie nach dem Essen ein, sagt dafür der Inhaberin während des Essen bescheid. Wer Kaffee mag wird die Zeremonie auch mögen

Das Essen ist Mal was völlig anderes aber geschmacklich eine absolute Sensation. Wir haben zu viert eine Platte mit gemischten Gerichten bestellt und dachten zunächst: werden wir davon satt? Aber das Essen war so sättigend, dass wir hinterher kämpfen mussten. Die Bedienung ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Es wird auch viel zum Essen erklärt und man kann dabei was über die Kultur und das Essen in Eritrea lernen. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Wir waren sehr begeistert. Es war das erste Mal, dass wir so afrikanisch gegessen haben und fanden es super interessant und lecker! Viele vegetarische Optionen aber auch Fleischgerichte. Wir können es nur weiterempfehlen :)

Afrikanische Küche aus Eritrea und Äthiopien hatte ich bisher noch nie probiert, daher reizte mich das Restaurant schon lange. Ein paar Freundinnen kamen mit. Das Restaurant ist sehr klein, es gibt nur drei Tische für 4 Personen und 2 für zwei Personen. Wenn man sichergehen möchte, sollte man reservieren. Wir wurden freundlich begrüßt, die Karte bietet viele Gerichte mit Fleisch, aber auch vegetarische und veganer Speisen. Eine Beratung gab es nicht, war aber in unserem Fall auch gar nicht nötig. Wir wählten als Vorspeise Gefüllte Teigtaschen, einmal mit Spinat, einmal mit Hack. Unsere Hauptgänge waren der vegetarische Teller für 2, einmal Rindfleisch mit Zwiebeln und Peperoni in einem Tonschalengefäß und ein Hähnchengericht auf Injere, der Brot-Spezialität. Das Essen war superlecker, toll gewürzt, manchmal etwas schärfer als gedacht, aber alles total intensiv. Die Gerichte wurden liebevoll präsentiert und der Clou ohne Besteck, sondern mit den Fingern und dem Brot als Löffel zu essen war echt toll. Einzig, dass wir doch länger auf dem Trockenen saßen ist zu bemängeln. Hier schneiden sich die Inhaberinnen selbst ins Fleisch, denn nicht nur wir hätten mehr Getränke geordert, wenn wir mehr gefragt worden wären...Mit knapp 30 € pro Person ist das Vergnügen nicht ganz günstig, es aber geschmacklich mehr als wert.

So lecker. Besonders toll ist auch die große Auswahl an veganen Gerichten.

Habe das erste Mal dort gegessen und werde auf jeden Fall wiederkommen.

Eine komplett neue Erfahrung! Das Essen war perfekt: schön angerichtet, super lecker gewürzt und die Menge war auch perfekt. Besonders bemerkenswert war, das wirklich alles frisch zubereitet wurde. Ein weiteres Highlight war ohne Besteck zu essen :)

Das Essen hat mir und meiner Frau sehr gut geschmeckt und wir wurden darüber hinaus sehr freundlich bedient. Meiner Meinung nach könnte aber das Ambiente noch etwas schöner sein.

Das Essen war zeitnah auf dem Tisch und die Bedienung war sehr freundlich. Gut gewürzt aber leider musste man das Fleisch länger kauen... Ein bisschen mehr Wot hätte auch nicht geschadet. Wir kommen wieder und probieren dann auch mal andere Gerichte.
