The quality of the food seems to depend a lot on which chef is on duty: for example, the asparagus was woody and not fully cooked.

We reserved a table at 6:30 p.m. and were not informed by anyone that we had to leave the restaurant at 8:15 p.m. because of a group. We were basically thrown out on the street even though we would have ordered more.

Friendly staff, the price was a bit expensive, the food was good. We were very satisfied, and the problem with the dessert was also resolved very hospitably. The atmosphere is very nice and the toilets are clean. We parked in the parking garage nearby. The walk was about 8-10 minutes.

When we were looking for a restaurant with Swabian cuisine, this restaurant was recommended to us. And it was worth it. Top service and very tasty food. The cheese spaetzle is great and the meat is on point. Will definitely come by again.

Very good Swabian cuisine. We ate there on two consecutive days. Particularly recommended are onion roast, beef liver and Maultaschen. A little expensive, but also very good.

Easter Sunday lunch for 12 people; All around positive feedback on the various starters and main courses. Reservation is recommended. You should park, for example, on Uhlandstrasse or in various parking garages. Older people or those who are not so good on foot can drive up in the car and then park elsewhere. However, the Burgsteig is quite narrow, steep and busy. Other than that we will be back.

2 beautiful outdoor terraces and a pleasant winter garden invite you to relax. It's a bit dark inside. Very attentive and nice service. The food is delicious, down-to-earth, without any fuss.

And the service was great: beyond friendly, warm and very attentive. - In the meantime I have eaten in the restaurant several times with guests from the university and every time everyone was thrilled - including me! :-)

Probably the best restaurant we tried in Tübingen. All the regional specialty dishes, different from what is understood as typical German food, have exceptional quality in the raw materials and preparation. The service is friendly and fast, with a great atmosphere. The prices are not high for the quality of the food either, it is well worth coming and trying it.

The guest room is beautifully and comfortably furnished. The menu also sounds very varied and ambitious. Unfortunately, the reality is completely different. It starts with the service, which is very clumsy, uninformed and not really attentive. As it became clear over the course of the evening, it is primarily students who come to the table. Although there were plenty of other service staff, who were obviously better trained, at the front of the counter area. Many simple questions about the food and drinks could not be answered by our waitress and he had to keep going back to the counter. That makes a very bad impression. We had the wild garlic cream soup with beetroot chips. The soup was not a cream soup, but a pure pureed wild garlic soup. Tasted good, but the cream was missing. The card and what comes next should match, as the guest also has certain expectations. The beetroot chips were certainly crispy, but they were in the soup and were just a mushy mass. This is a blatant craftsmanship error. The second starter, beetroot carpaccio with caramelized goat cheese, obviously came out of the fridge fully prepared and had been stored for hours. The goat cheese was cold, the caramel crust was not freshly caramelized. Just a very cold cheese. The beetroot slices tasted like nothing, and the worst thing was, everything was covered with a convenience balsamic cream from the bottle, so you couldn't taste the olive oil-lemon marinade mentioned on the menu. It was simply poorly crafted and a disaster, and that for 16 euros. My Swabian platter was completely carelessly prepared, with lots of convenience products such as a hollandaise sauce from the tetra pack (which everyone knows) and fried onions from the bag. At the level postulated by the restaurant itself, homemade fried onions should be a given. The pork fillet was fried to death and the cheese spaetzle came with sticky, dried cheese. Here the claim of the house does not match reality at all. The second main course, Maultaschen with potato salad, was actually announced by the waiter with a side salad. He obviously didn't know how the dish was served either. There was no salad with it. The Maultaschen were completely dry, there was no brown butter or any sauce or broth. The two aperitifs we had were good, but we decided against wine or anything else after first impressions. I also had a pear spritzer, which was advertised brilliantly on the menu, but hardly tasted like pear at all. Here the mixing ratio was not right at all. All in all a very disappointing experience. And at very high prices. Unfortunately not recommended.

We had a wonderful evening with not only delicious food but also excellent service.

Everything was perfect, to say something that could be improved, the waiting time to serve the dishes was about 20 minutes, but we had ordered everything at the same time and it is possible that this was the cause of it. Service, quality of ingredients and quality cuisine.

It was very nice, the staff was polite and accommodating! The food was a bit salty, both the soup and the roulade.

A beautiful location for our wedding day

Der Gastraum ist wunderschön und gemütlich eingerichtet. Auch die Speisekarte klingt sehr abwechslungsreich und ambitioniert. Leider ist die Realität, dann aber eine ganz andere. Es fängt mit dem Service an, der sehr unbeholfen, nicht informiert und nicht wirklich aufmerksam ist. Wie sich im Laufe des Abends herausgestellt hat, sind es vor allem Studenten, die an den Tisch kommen. Obwohl es genug andere Servicekräfte, die offensichtlich besser ausgebildet sind, vorne am Tresenbereich gab. Viele einfache Fragen zum Essen und zu den Getränken konnten von unserer Servicekraft nicht beantwortet werden, er musste immer wieder zum Tresen zurück. Das macht einen sehr schlechten Eindruck. Wir hatten die Bärlauchrahmsuppe, mit rote Bete Chips. Die Suppe war keine Rahmsuppe, sondern eine pure pürierte Bärlauchsuppe. Schmeckte gut, aber der Rahm fehlte. Karte und das was dann kommt, sollten schon übereinstimmen, da der Gast ja auch eine bestimmte Erwartungshaltung hat. Die rote Bete Chips waren bestimmt mal knusprig, lagen aber in der Suppe und waren nur noch eine matschige Masse. Das ist ein krasser handwerklicher Fehler. Die zweite Vorspeise, Carpaccio von Bete mit karamellisieren Ziegenkäse kam offensichtlich fertig zubereitet und seit Stunden lagernd aus dem Kühlschrank. Der Ziegenkäse war kalt, die Karamellkruste nicht frisch karamellisiert. Einfach nur ein sehr kalter Käse. Die Bete Scheiben schmeckten nach gar nichts, und das Schlimmste war, alles war übergossen mit einer Convenience Balsamicocreme aus der Flasche, so dass man die auf der Karte erwähnte Olivenöl-Zitronenöl Marinade nicht schmecken konnte. Das war einfach handwerklich schlecht gemacht und eine Katastrophe, und das für 16 Euro. Meine Schwabenplatte war völlig lieblos angerichtet, mit vielen Convenience Produkten wie zum Beispiel einer Sauce Hollandaise aus der Tetrapackung (die jeder kennt) und Röstzwiebeln aus der Tüte. Auf dem Restaurant selbst postulierten Niveau sollten selbst gemachte Röstzwiebeln eine Selbstverständlichkeit sein. Das Schweinefilet war tot gebraten, und die Käsespätzle kamen mit pappigen, angetrockneten Käse. Hier stimmt der Anspruch des Hauses mit der Realität überhaupt nicht überein. Das zweite Hauptgericht Maultaschen mit Kartoffelsalat wurden eigentlich mit einem Beilagensalat vom Kellner angekündigt. Er wusste offensichtlich auch nicht, wie das Gericht serviert wird. Es gab keinen Salat dazu. Die Maultaschen waren total trocken, es gab keine braune Butter oder irgendeine Soße oder Brühe dazu. Fie beiden Aperitifs, die wir hatten, waren gut, wir haben dann aber auf Wein oder anderes nach den ersten Eindrücken verzichtet. Ich hatte noch eine Birnenschorle, die großartig angekündigt war in der Karte, aber kaum noch Birne schmeckte. Hier stimmte das Mischungsverhältnis überhaupt nicht. Alles in allem eine sehr enttäuschende Erfahrung. Und das bei sehr gehobenen Preisen. Leider nicht zu empfehlen.

The food was truly delicious, and the portions were generous. The bread and the wild garlic cream that accompanied it were also delicious. The bread was even warm. Everything was a bit on the expensive side, but the great location also plays a role. If possible, reserve a table in the winter garden, where you have a fantastic view of the "Ammer" side of Tübingen.

After two visits I would now like to leave my personal review. The menu is extremely extensive, but my focus was primarily on the classic Maultaschen. As someone not from the region, they were a whole new taste experience - and I highly recommend them! The variety of different Maultaschen menus doesn't make it easy to choose, but that's exactly what speaks for the quality and creativity of the cuisine. The ambience is another highlight: stylishly furnished rooms and a wonderful view over the city. The service was extremely friendly and accommodating on both visits. We also stayed overnight in the hotel and were able to enjoy breakfast in the restaurant - a rich buffet with a large selection of delicacies. An all-round successful experience with excellent cuisine and a stylish ambience. The only small disadvantage: Due to the high demand, a reservation is almost mandatory, especially on weekends.

I recently had lunch here with my family and we really enjoyed it! The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and the service was exceptionally friendly and attentive - we really felt very comfortable. The menu offers an excellent selection of local dishes that are great for both meat lovers and vegetarians. Everything was freshly prepared and tasted excellent. The portions were generous and the price was completely justified. We had a wonderful time and I will definitely come back. Highly recommended!

On our first visit to Tübingen, my wife and I chose the Mauganeschle as our "restaurant of choice"... and we absolutely did not regret it. From the location to the ambiance/beautiful view of Tübingen and the friendly staff to the delicious food and drinks, we loved everything. We also found the value for money to be reasonable. So, full marks—and keep it up!

TOP! We made reservations at short notice for 20 people during the trade fair. We sat in a beautiful vaulted room, the service was first class, the food was very high quality and delicious. The entire stay can be rated as very good, THANK YOU!

The starter was good (mixed salad / pancake soup / smoked trout fillet). Unfortunately, the main course (roast dumplings / onion roast with spaetzle) arrived at our place almost cold. It was therefore probably heated with infrared, which caused the Maultaschen to dry out a bit). Overall, the visit was unfortunately disappointing.

Gut finde ich, dass vegetarische und vegane Speisen angeboten werden. Das Personal war freundlich und bemüht. Allerdings waren die Linsen zu weich, die Preise für Getränke saftig.

It was a very nice evening with good food, only the sauce for the meat had a bit of a binding effect (gluten), and fantastic Maultaschen. The wine selection was very good and the service was warm and extremely friendly (but not fake, but honest!). Absolutely recommended!

Swabian kitchen classics and more in an exposed location The Hotel-Restaurant Mauganeschtle is a feel-good place in Tübingen. It is located in the historic castle hotel, which is located next to the lower gate of the Hohentübingen castle complex. The well-kept, listed hotel restaurant surprises with its modern, stylish interior a 2-tier garden terrace with a great view of Tübingen's old town. The guests are mostly locals and university members who enjoy the summer evening on the terrace. The student service is quick and exceptionally friendly - we experienced this surprisingly often in Tübingen. The menu is a mixture of traditional Swabian cuisine, some of which have been creatively prepared. The traditionally prepared Maultaschen tasted excellent. The taste was perfectly rounded off by the butter crumbs and melted onions and the texture of the dumplings and filling were also very good. Another defining taste experience was the homemade sloppy potato salad - inimitable Swabian. The daily special “potato dumplings with fresh summer truffles” alone was a culinary disappointment for us. The potato filling consisted of a thick layer of dry mashed potatoes and the (cheese?) cream sauce was far too greasy and heavy for a warm summer evening. To enhance the aroma of the thin slices of truffles, the kitchen apparently used truffle oil - a fact that would infuriate every gourmet and lover of Piedmontese and Istrian truffles. It is well known that the pungent synthetic aroma has absolutely nothing to do with the delicate taste of real truffles. Conclusion: Beautiful, stylish restaurant with a unique garden terrace and very good Swabian classics. The less Swabian dish of the day failed to convince us either with its consistency or taste.

This restaurant is probably intended for young people. Everything is very tight. We sat on bar stools (very uncomfortable) to eat. I never knew Maultaschen with dark sauce. Wasn't necessarily my case. However, the beer was very good

After our civil wedding at Mauganeschtle, we had lunch in the winter garden with our 40 guests. In addition to a champagne reception, a three-course menu that could be put together individually, we were then able to enjoy the cake we had brought with us. The planning in advance with Mr. Tisci was professional, uncomplicated and very personal. All of our wishes were taken into account. We were able to have a say in everything from the individual drinks at the champagne reception to the menu options and allergies and a gluten-free or vegan diet were also taken into account. On the day of the wedding, the service was incredibly attentive and friendly without being intrusive. Everything was implemented as discussed, from the place cards and decorations to the food. The menu itself was an absolute delight! Every single dish was perfectly prepared, beautifully presented and a taste highlight. A big compliment to the entire team and Mr. Tisci for this unforgettable experience! We can recommend this restaurant to anyone who is planning a celebration - or just wants excellent food. Thank you very much for everything!

At first glance it's a nice atmosphere, but some things in the restaurant and in the toilets need to be addressed. Side dishes on the menu only butter spaetzle. When the waitress asked if there was anything with potatoes, she regretfully said no, but fries were then served at the neighboring table. Only after we mentioned again that we would also like fries was the side dish changed. The food (onion roast and veal Maultashan) was good, but nothing special. Drinking very expensive!

Christmas dinner was excellent, game fish and goose.

The service was great, very friendly and attentive. Unfortunately I have to say that the taste of the food was very different. From very good to completely bland. The spelled noodles with winter vegetables with herb mushrooms and almond cream were spirelli with zucchini and a few small pieces of herb mushrooms without sauce for over €19. The lentil croquettes on potato and truffle puree were tasty, but at over €24 they were rather plain and lacking in pizzazz. I can't judge the meat dishes. Unfortunately we were rather disappointed with the food.

Expensive is not always good! At first we craved the chestnut soup, which was offered in front of the restaurant, only when we asked what was with the chestnut soup did we find out that there was no more. The replacement: A small, watery pumpkin soup 7 €😳! The Schlössletöpfle that followed was just carelessly prepared. The onion roast, very small 30€ 🤪! The biggest problem was that all the dishes were peppery - someone was given kilos of green pepper and tried to add it to our food. It was also noticeable that the sauces on the plates that had just been brought to the table were already forming a skin... Without words 😶 We're definitely not coming back!

Very tasty food from the Christmas menu (please have Maultaschen next time), parking space for disabled grandparents in front of the door (not at all a given in Tübingen), unfortunately very loud due to a disturbing second group in the vaulted cellar, which also led to a bit of confusion in the service (one person “forgotten by the kitchen”, wine with the main course arrived late). Still the right choice for a family Christmas dinner - and of course we'll be back!

Great food. I had the seasonal beef carpaccio as starter and the Maultaschen with green pepper as main. Excellent. You can order sparkling water in a carafe instead of a bottle. The water tastes great, it's environmentally friendly and cheaper than the bottle. I didn't like the seasonal aperitif I had, but that was the only aspect of dinner which was not excellent. I recommend to reserve a table for dinner
