Restaurant Lübke's Speicher in Lübeck

We should have known; back home in Cologne, we don't go to eat in the Old Town, right by the water, because that's where the tourists get ripped off. But here in Lübeck, we're the stupid tourists and unfortunately let ourselves be blinded by the beautiful location on the Trave River with a view of the passing boats. Two of the four chairs at our table were damaged (the plastic "wickerwork" seats were ripped apart), but there were only two of us, so it was okay. A quick walk inside, and everything looks even more messy and run-down. The air in the women's restroom is reminiscent of Cologne's Old Town during Carnival, but there wasn't much going on. My Alster beer tasted exactly like my husband's Pilsner. At two neighboring tables, everyone also thought they'd gotten regular beer and hadn't tasted any soda. No matter, I don't have to drive anymore. Both of the servers were quick, and the young lady, in particular, was friendly. I had the herring, traditionally served with, not in, a "cream" sauce. It was too little and very thin, more watery than creamy. It came with a few lettuce leaves without any dressing and some truly delicious fried potatoes. My husband can confirm the latter. We should have read the reviews for his grilled shovel beforehand. The beef was overcooked and tasted like fish, even though the waiter assured us they cooked the fish on one side and the meat on the other. But maybe in the same fat? All in all, a truly disappointing experience. What a pity about the good location.

I give it 0 points! The food is simply assault! From the beginning. I've never been so disappointed. I wanted to invite my family over, but had reserved a table especially for me! Special occasion! First, a quick trip to the ladies' room... Hygiene is a complete foreign concept here!!! Ugh! Then, we placed our order outside on shabby chairs at shabby tables. A very friendly young woman took four different food orders. Full of anticipation for a delicious meal, we were soon disabused of that notion. The grilled shovel was served on the old wooden bowls from days gone by... The beef was inedible, I'm guessing rotten meat! The chef offered to cook again! No thanks! Lost my appetite! Hawaiian schnitzel, the breading twice as thick as the meat. Cold. The grilled turkey schnitzel was only lightly blanched! Cold. The herb butter on the meat was rock hard. Doesn't melt. The accompanying frozen vegetables were mushy and poorly seasoned under the meat. The baked potato was probably cooked two days ago, now sliced, heated, and topped with disgusting sour cream. The fries were cold! The schnitzel garlic sauce was indefinable. Terribly bad. A complete disaster all around!!! The waitress apologized, saying the chef is new and is trying things out... :( Well, for the price of 5 meals, one was canceled due to inedibility, including 5 drinks, which leaves €105. Oh, the salad that accompanied the garlic schnitzel was garnished with yellow, wilted arugula. I'm so extremely disappointed and feel so cheated out of my time and money. Not to mention that I didn't leave the restaurant feeling full, because 3 plates were returned almost entirely. What a nerve from the chef! This is a clear case: No one in the kitchen is passionate about what they do, and when they use expired food, it leads to a complete disaster! I'm not going there again for the life of me!

Not recommended. The wrong food was delivered. Ordered a cold fish platter for two people, but got a fried fish platter. Unfortunately, we took it for the sake of the owner and because we were hungry. The fish was good, some of the frozen vegetables were still cold and very, very firm to the bite. The potatoes were still raw inside. The vegetables and potatoes tasted of nothing but raw. We complained and received new, soft potatoes, with the response, "That can't be right." When we paid, we were charged the full amount for the more expensive, incorrectly delivered platter, without any apology. Never again!

The sanitary facilities are a disaster. You wouldn't want to eat anything here.

I spontaneously stopped by for dinner while on vacation. The young waitress was nice, but the man with very short hair was unfriendly. He didn't greet us or say goodbye. He brought us drinks without saying a word. We didn't feel comfortable and don't know what was wrong with him.

We had a wonderful evening right on the Obertrave River. The location itself is stunning. With a view of the water, you're sitting in one of the most beautiful corners of Lübeck. Especially in the evenings, when the lights reflect in the water. The ambiance is cozy yet stylish, making you feel immediately welcome. The food, too, is simply outstanding. Fresh, regional, and prepared with attention to detail. A big compliment also goes to the service team! Attentive, warm, and always with a smile. You can immediately tell that the work here is done with passion. We highly recommend Lübkes Speicher. A place where ambiance, cuisine, and hospitality are a perfect match.

Apple strudel in a Turkish restaurant? Never! It's reheated, apparently from the microwave.

We just had dinner at this restaurant. The portion size of my main course was the same as an appetizer. When I asked the waiter about it, he said that people eat less in the summer. He at least offered me a small second helping of fried potatoes, which were delicious. My fish was unfortunately too salty. My wife's salad was swimming in dressing, and the baguette was hard. Overall, it wasn't a real treat and definitely not enough to fill you up. Unfortunately, the prices are correspondingly high.

We had dinner with friends at Lübke's Speicher. The reservation went smoothly, and we received a friendly welcome. Unfortunately, the portions of the pan-fried fish weren't exactly generous. The fried potatoes were well hidden under the fish, but the food was still tasty. Card payments weren't possible that evening, but that wasn't a problem for us. Another guest complained about the surcharge for card payments in another review.

Not recommended. The food is made from cans and bags. No salad dressing, just balsamic vinegar, and that's it.

Unfortunately, that's a bit difficult with children. However, it must be said that the food was definitely freshly prepared, which explains the longer wait.

I was there on Saturday. Unfortunately, I wasn't satisfied. I had to wait over 20 minutes to be served, another 25 minutes for drinks, and was served very bland food (fish fried to death) and potatoes with large brown spots. I was practically ignored. I didn't get anything more than an "Oh, sorry." Unfortunately, the service and quality weren't good for the price. The stuffed jalapenos in the snack basket were just plain cheese nuggets with jalapenos inside. (Frozen goods). Only the ambiance outside by the water was good. It's a shame.

Stay away from card payments! The food was good, although the price was a bit high for the portion size, but here you also pay for the location. Unfortunately, the card terminal operator's 10% service fee is passed on to the guest WITHOUT prior notice! That's completely unacceptable! And even after we noticed it, there was no apology. We probably won't eat there again.

Delicious, inexpensive and super friendly

Four of us had a reservation on a Saturday evening and sat outside. The ambiance, right on the water, was very nice, as expected. The rest of our stay, unfortunately, was less so. After a good 30 minutes of waiting, the last remaining dishes from the previous guests were removed, and we were able to order drinks and food. After another 15-20 minutes, the drinks arrived. The appetizers we ordered were tasty overall, but there was a dark lump of something unidentifiable from the deep fryer in one of the snack baskets. That should have been noticeable. The smoked herring fillets were very tasty, as was the small salad that accompanied them. The meat on the grilled herring fillet, however, was unfortunately very dry, and the accompanying sauce was very thick, which detracted from the flavor. The two Lübkes fish platters we ordered left a lot to be desired. The fish was relatively tasteless, very soft and mushy; unfortunately, it couldn't be described as freshly fried. The spinach and potatoes were generally very tasty. On one of the plates, there was a potato with a very large black spot on one side. Given its size, the kitchen should have noticed it; the food shouldn't have been served like that! When clearing the table, the waiter admitted he'd seen it, but unfortunately, he didn't offer a word of apology. Overall, we regret to say we won't be eating here again. It's a shame, really; the location and ambiance of the restaurant are otherwise very nice.

There were two of us there in the evening. Despite making an online reservation, we were sent outside at 7 p.m. in 18 degree temperatures, after not really being noticed in the entrance area, with the words. “Find a table outside.” After asking several times if we could get a table inside (50% of the tables were unoccupied), we were given a table inside. The tablecloth was dirty and the paper napkin too. The food came quite quickly, the quality was not outstanding, beef was very tough, vegetables were still hard and the pike perch fillet was very burnt on one side. The toilets were very very dirty. Toilet paper was lying around on the floor and the floor was sticky with dirt. The only positive thing was the nice young waitress. We tried very hard, but unfortunately it didn't turn things around. It's a shame, 20 years ago it was a great restaurant with delicious food.

Unfortunately I made the mistake of ordering the grill shovel online there... After a long delay, instead of turkey, beef, pork I got a piece of beef, tough and cold, the side dish of fried potatoes were not only cold but also completely watered down by the watery beans and unfortunately far from good fried potatoes. Overall, the price/performance ratio is not justified and the repeated attempt to consult and clarify by telephone immediately after delivery only ends up on the answering machine despite the restaurant being open, is pushed away immediately after the dial tone and even after the answer is given on the answering machine there is no call back. I can do anything but recommend this place as a supplier...the expectations according to the menu were high...but every fast food chain delivers worse food of better quality

Rustic home-style restaurant. We sat outside in the sunshine. Inside it looked cozy but smelled a lot like a kitchen. Cleanliness and service was ok. The food was rather average. We had a rump steak which was medium fried. The herb butter with it tasted strange. We also had the grill shovel with several types of meat drowned in mushroom sauce. The vegetables were very soft and bathed in ready-made hollandaise. If you don't expect too much and want classic German food you can go here

Wir waren Silvester in diesem Restaurant an der Obertrave mit Charme und Atmosphäre. Es gab ein 4-Gänge-Menü. Leider war der Service im vollen Lokal nur zu Zweit, der Küchenchef musste mit servieren. Dennoch wurden wir relativ schnell und sehr freundlich bedient. Allerdings waren die Speisen alle nur lauwarm. Geschmacklich war alles stimmig und von guter Qualität. Lediglich der Lachs war zu trocken. Ich kann verstehen dass das Personal nach diesem Abend geschafft war und abschließen wollte. Aber es war stillos, dass man nach 22h laute Musik zum Auskehren der Gäste nutzte und alle fluchtartig in die Silvesternacht trieb. Alles in allem kann ich daher nur 3 Sterne vergeben

Went there for dinner yesterday. The panfish was underseasoned, but you can add more seasoning, but otherwise it was tasty and well cooked (still slightly glassy on the inside). The fried potatoes with it could have done with a little more, but they tasted really good. The game goulash with butter spaetzle was unfortunately a disappointment. The meat was nice and tender, but unfortunately so many cloves were used that the taste was always present in the mouth and was more in the foreground. This was kindly acknowledged when it was mentioned, but I doubt that it reached the kitchen. The “butter spaetzle” were fried to death in the pan without any hint of butter. We had hoped to save the evening with hot churches or an apple strudel, but unfortunately that backfired. The hot cherries were more of a hot red jelly with a small amount of cherries. With the apple strudel, the dough casing was rather rubbery and they had the brilliant idea of ​​putting a strong chocolate sauce on top in decorative loops, which overshadowed the taste in a disturbing way like the cloves did with the game goulash. Otherwise the service was quick and friendly, The ambience is a bit inconsistent, but still cozy.

We were there for Christmas dinner. Table was ordered. It was very crowded. Had to wait a while until the table was released. Then you stand at the entrance as ordered and not picked up 😂 well, it's full and stressful. We were then shown where we should sit down. It took a while until we got the tickets and could place the order. We opted for a full menu. It took almost an hour to get the starter. As I said, it was very crowded and everyone had to wait a long time. It took a very long time until the next course. However, the food was excellent! Afterwards we noticed that the red cabbage with the wild boar saddle with slip noodles was missing from the plates. The creme brulee was also out, but there were still alternatives for dessert. If our table had been occupied again after 2 hours, we would not have been able to eat, as the individual 3 courses took a long time to complete. We can't judge whether it was due to too few employees, as there was no statement about such a thing, not even at the neighboring tables. The answer was always food coming soon. The wait didn't bother us because we had time. There was no small gift from the kitchen such as coffee or schnapps or a greeting from the kitchen or an apology for the long wait. The atmosphere is rustic. Wine rack on the edge of the wardrobe is very dusty. Cloakroom also stores paper towels for the sanitary facilities. You can get to them in a side corridor. Then you recoil from the sight. The thought of a train station toilet immediately came to mind. Even when it's at full capacity, a toilet shouldn't look like this. Dusty dirt edges on the lower folded up toilet lid. Floor dirty. And such a very dirty, calcified sink drain. Yuck. I was able to wipe some of the dirt out with a paper towel. So cleaning it is no excuse for looking like that, it doesn't happen in a matter of hours! The men's toilet door has to be closed, otherwise you'll pee with your back turned to an occupied table where you're eating. Not nice either... As I said, the food was excellent, thanks to the chef. The rest wasn't so good that we can come back again or recommend it with conviction. The meal for 2 people with drinks was worth 100 euros. However, the rest does not correspond to this value. Too bad.

Sehr ansprechender Gastraum. Die Bedienung war aufmerksam. Das Essen meiner Begleitung nach deren Aussage schmackhaft. Das überbackene Gemüse, das ich bestellt hatte leider so gar nicht. Es bestand aus vorwiegend grünen, noch sehr knackigen Bohnen, ca. drei Brokkoliröschen und zwei Karottenscheiben, die in einer undefinierbaren Brühe/Sauce schwammen. Überzogen war alles mit einer dicken Käseschicht, die noch nicht einmal richtig geschmolzen war.

Was pleasantly surprised by this place. We managed to get 8 tables without having booked anything. We ordered the soup which was delicious, also the schnitzel was good. They accepted both that we could split the bill and pay by card.

I haven't been there for ages and the storage shovel should actually be ordered again. But the delicious dishes from the Christmas menu were irresistible. If we still lived in Lübeck, it could become our regular pub.

Das Essen war grottenschlecht, Tk Fisch, überforderte Bedienung, Gastraum war voller Getränke kekisten, nie wieder.

Eine von vielen Gaststätten an der Trave, drinnen und im Aussenbereich sehr gemütlich. Die Speisen sind sehr wohlschmeckend besonders die Fischgerichte. Der Inhaber für ein gutes Gespräch dankbar.

Also ganz so schlimm, wie einige Bewertungen hier tun, ist es nicht. Die Lage ist an einem Sommerabend großartig. Schattig, am Wasser gelegen, an einer sehr ruhigen Straße gelegen. Das Personal war sehr aufmerksam, freundlich und schnell. Das Essen war durchaus in Ordnung. Man muss sicherlich nicht deswegen hin, aber das Gesamtpaket hat uns gestern sehr gut gefallen.

Vis uit de vriezer, beetje opgebakken, vreselijk! Rauwe tomaten erop en een paar gekookte aardappelen ernaast gedumpt. Totaal geen smaak en geen waar voor je geld.

Fisch aus der Tiefkühltruhe....wir hatten 1x kabeljau mit kartoffeln und gemüse, 1x pann fisch mit bratkartoffeln und dillsauce...wir sind wirklich nicht anspruchsvoll, aber das gemüse war zerkocht und ungewürzt, die dillsauce buttrig und der Fisch nur kurz angebraten...für 60 Euro inkl. Getränke echt ne frechheit ....

Das Essen wurde schnell serviert. Wir hatten Fisch dieser war sehr gut. Beilagen waren frisch und knackig. Die Bedienug war freundlich obwohl sehr viel los war.

Das Restaurant ist schön gelegen mit Außenplätzen. Leider ist das schon alles, was gut war. Der Service war nicht gut und das Essen wurde auf jeden Fall von keinem gelernten Koch gemacht. Alles wurde lieblos angerichtet und es waren Fertigwaren die aufgewärmt wurden. Wir können das Restaurant nicht weiterempfehlen.

Somewhat longer waiting time than expected - almost half of the tables had guests. Fish&Chips and Schnitzel were served without sauce or similar. We saw others having the same dish served with lemon and remoulade. Only got it when we asked. One of the more expensive cafes and the only place where we were asked if we wanted to add a tip.

The shady guest garden is located directly on the water. There is a street between the restaurant and the guest garden, but there are hardly any vehicles on the road.

The food “Lübkes Grillschaufel”! Simply fantastic!!! The fried potatoes and vegetables are a poem! The meat was also very good! Plus you sit on the Trave. Just beautiful !!! Water was also brought for my dogs! I almost forgot about it. The service is very friendly and quick!

We ate the pan fish twice, the fish was tasty, but the potatoes were unfortunately still very firm. Very nice place on the Trave. The waffle didn't taste fresh. Cappu was delicious. The toilet rooms, however, urgently need renovation. They have already been impressively documented with pictures. Hope the kitchen looks better.
