We always enjoy coming here! The food is delicious. A lovely and cozy restaurant with a great terrace and a diverse clientele. Everyone is on first-name terms—you have to like that...but depending on the situation, it might be inappropriate.

This was our second time having breakfast here. The food is very good and high-quality. Everything is freshly prepared. My last breakfast was sirloin steak, which was cooked to perfection and went perfectly with the Béarnaise sauce. The service is friendly, uncomplicated, and quick. Even small requests are fulfilled. We will definitely have breakfast here more often.

(Updated Sept 2025) -- I can recommend April—especially for its location and spacious terrace—but the restaurant needs to improve both food consistency and service, which was sometimes off-putting. Meal quality : My guest loved her fish soup, and my Malfatti was good, though served lukewarm for some ingredients. The most frustrating part was inconsistent, occasionally abrasive (!) service: • Despite confirming my reservation in person that morning, no table was ready when I arrived. I was initially seated near the entrance/exit but was helped by a friendly waiter to a quieter spot. • While service improved over the evening, some staff members had an off-putting attitude, which my guest also noticed. • Most oddly, I received a “no-show” email after leaving, claiming I hadn’t turned up and suggesting I “do better next time” (see screenshot). This has happened twice, and I’ve asked them to fix this automated message—it’s inappropriate to insult a customer. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, and I still recommend April, but they need to focus on food consistency and reliable, courteous service.

Although the restaurant was moderately busy—which remained the same throughout the evening—we, two women, were initially seated at one of the two worst tables, which we found rather unwelcoming. The food was good, albeit overpriced. The wine by the glass, however—by no means anything special—was completely overpriced at over €9 (if you add up the 0.15 liters). We won't be going back for a while. It's a shame, because the outdoor seating is very nice.

We had an early lunch on a Monday. The place has a great atmosphere, casual yet elegant. The staff was super friendly and didn’t frown upon our approximate German. The waitering was done professionally. The food was delicate and the portions were well-sized. We look forward to coming back !

I always enjoy eating there. Unfortunately, April has moved. I thought the old location was much better than the new one. The food, however, hasn't changed, and that's why people go there. The breakfast is always excellent. The jam, in particular, is fantastic.

April has been a staple in Schöneberg for me for years. Even after the move, the excellent cuisine and the warm, attentive team haven't changed. Everything is just right here – from the fresh, lovingly prepared dishes to the warm atmosphere that makes you feel immediately welcome. I especially like that you can enjoy a delicious meal here at any time of day – whether you're feeling peckish or just want to relax. Highly recommended! Dogs are also welcome here – another plus. 🐾

I'm really disappointed. The service was a bit lackluster at times, the price/performance ratio wasn't right. My yogurt muesli was plain yogurt with sugared berries from a jar (for over €11), the iced cappuccino was completely forgettable (that's really not rocket science), and scrambled eggs with a roll were €12 (?!?!). I remembered it being better in Lenzig's time.

Love the avocado bread for breakfast! Super fresh and delicious ingredients, and the large fresh orange juice was also delicious and really generous. All in all, a perfect start to the day.

Stomach ache from the food! Caution! When the manager is there, the food tastes good and you can visit this restaurant. When he's not there, the employees just joke around among themselves, make you wait, and are very unprofessional. When I asked, "Is there egg in it?" a tall, brown-haired man replied, "I don't know." If you don't know, who's going to? The Italian waiter pulls a face if you only give a small tip because he made you wait a long time. I had extreme stomach ache from the food when I was there a few days ago and the manager wasn't there. It's a real shame, that was my friend's and my last visit.

We rented the back room of the restaurant after our civil wedding, and it was absolutely fantastic. The service was excellent, the brunch was amazing, and we had a really good time with 35 guests.

Despite the somewhat smelly neighborhood, we found a great restaurant here. The breakfast, featuring various egg dishes and themed plates, was excellent. The staff was extremely service-oriented. The atmosphere was fantastic. Parking was difficult.

We were here with our wedding guests. They all raved about the excellent food. We received a very warm welcome and felt very well looked after. An all-around positive experience and highly recommended.

Great – we used to go to Lenzig every now and then, which probably also had something to do with April. The food and the location are truly top-notch. The evening menu changes monthly – the classics remain the same. We had the schnitzel and labneh: 10/10. The portions are really large (prices are fair considering the portion size), and I can't understand the complaints about the service in some reviews.

We spent a week in Berlin and enjoyed by far our best dinner of the week at "April." The restaurant's selected dishes are beyond delicious and lovingly prepared. This restaurant also impressed us in every way, even in terms of price. The next time we're in Berlin, we'll definitely reserve a table at "April." A big compliment to the service and especially to the kitchen.

Worse day by day. Not necessarily because of the food, that's acceptable. (Or also: If you like overpriced but average food, this is the place for you.) I am particularly dismayed by the unfriendliness and arrogance of the staff (especially one person). Tables are not wiped down, there is no friendly greeting and special concerns are not addressed. No matter how atmospheric the furnishings are, this store is unfortunately no longer an asset to the neighborhood.

An attempt in the new location or old branch. Small menu now, but tasty dishes, the wines are decent, but at 0.15l not worth the price. The young service tried hard and friendly, but some weaknesses. From the old team in Winterfeldtstr. no one is there anymore, the original APRIL is simply missing.

We went for the first time in April and really enjoyed it. The prices are rather high, but the portions are large according to the price! Price/performance was right for us. The service was very nice and we would like to come back.

Meine Freundin und ich haben uns an einem Samstag im Februar um 15.30 Uhr in dem Café getroffen. Um 17.15 Uhr kam der Kellner und erklärte in kurz angebundenem Ton, wir müssten jetzt gehen, der Tisch sei für 17.30 Uhr reserviert. Wir sagten, dass man uns nicht darauf hingewiesen hätte und wir evtl. noch etwas hätten essen wollten. Daraufhin meinte er, es sei alles voll. Auf vielen Tisch standen „Reserviert“- Schilder, auf vielen anderen, auch auf unserem, nicht. Das sei eine schlechte Kommunikation, wandten wir ein, woraufhin er meinte, wir seien schließlich auch schon zwei Stunden da. Der Satz fiel im Laufe des folgenden Wortwechsels mehrmals: „Sie sitzen hier schon zwei Stunden.“ Weder im Lokal noch auf der Website gibt es einen Hinweis, dass die Aufenthaltsdauer begrenzt ist. Als wir das Verhalten unverschämt nannten und nach dem Management fragten, sagte er, er sei Teil des Managements, und unterstellte mir, ihn beleidigt zu haben, mit einem Begriff, der gar nicht gefallen war. Dann sagte er, er wolle den Chef holen, damit er uns Hausverbot erteile. Als wir gingen, warf er uns hinterher: „Ich will Sie hier nie wieder sehen.“ Das wird er nicht. Das Café gehörte bislang zu den Lokalen, die wir 20 Jahre lang immer wieder besucht haben. Den Tisch für acht Personen, den meine Freundin für den nächsten Tag reserviert hatte, hat sie abbestellt.

We ate very tasty schnitzels in the April restaurant and were served by two friendly service employees. There was also good, cold draft beer and a pleasant atmosphere. It wasn't a problem to stay there longer than the reserved time slot of 1.5 hours.

Despite the move, the address retains all its charm: the warmth of its decoration, the quality of its dishes but above all the welcome of its staff. During each of our trips to Berlin, April is a must!

Wonderful place to meet friends and family. Every time I visit Berlin, I make it my business to stop in for breakfast. I knew the place in its former life as Lenzig.

Wir waren in der Vergangenheit abends einige Male im Lenzig. Der Laden ist sehr gut gelegen und von innen auch nett. Das Essen war immer solides Mittelmaß und etwas langweilig, dafür aber völlig überteuert. Jetzt wo das April mit drin ist, wollten wir dem Laden zum frühstücken eine Chance geben und sind mit Kinderwagen und unserem schlafenden 9-Monate alten Sohn dort hin. Es waren viele Tische frei. Wir wurden mit der Aussage begrüßt, dass es mit Kinderwagen schwierig sei. Der Vorschlag war dann ernsthaft, dass wir das schlafende Kind entweder aus dem Kinderwagen nehmen oder ihn alleine an der Garderobe stehen lassen. Direkt neben der Garderobe war ein 2-er Tisch frei, wo wir uns dann hinsetzten, weil wir den unfreundlichen Kellner so verstanden hatten, dass es ok sei. Eine Kellnerin brachte die Karten und wir wollten gerade bestellen als wir von dem unfreundlichen Kellner aufgefordert wurden den Tisch zu verlassen, weil dort in 50 min eine Resevierung sei und jemand mit Hund kommen würde, der genau dort sitzen wolle. Eine alternative Lösung an einem der zahlreichen freien Tische wurde uns nicht vorgeschlagen, woraufhin wir gingen. So eine Unverschämtheit ist mir noch nicht untergekommen.

There were four of us and it was our first time in the April restaurant and we were completely thrilled. The ambience was extremely pleasant - a perfect mix of comfort and style. The service was excellent: friendly, attentive and quick. I had the risotto which was simply fantastic – perfectly cooked and full of flavour. The wine list also left nothing to be desired, it was extremely extensive and offered something to suit every taste. Overall, a wonderful evening with excellent cuisine and great service. We would definitely like to come back!

I still know the shop from Winterfeldtstrasse. The new restaurant has lost nothing to the quality of the food. The breakfast options have changed slightly, which I personally really like. The basis has remained. I actually like the atmosphere in the restaurant better than before. A difference between a person behind the counter and a service person bothered me and found you inappropriate. I would love to come back and am happy that April is still there.

The food is all salty and expensive. The restaurant is very noisy, there has been no renovation for a long time - the chairs are old and dirty, the paint has fallen off the walls, the chandeliers are crooked. The menu is old and dirty. I'll never come again.

The new APRIL! I loved APRIL until it had to close due to new homeowners. Thank God the operating family has a second restaurant, LENZIG. Now APRIL has moved into LENZIG and if you look closely you will immediately recognize the individual handwriting. Glad you still exist! 😍 The perfect place for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Coffee great, tea great, service great.

Unfortunately not recommended. We made reservations for 3 people via Google (and received confirmation), one person got sick. I called 3 days in advance to unregister the 3rd person, I was told my reservation wasn't in the system, they often have it on Google. The very nice person I spoke to said, no problem, and we made a new reservation half an hour later. When we arrived for this appointment, another gentleman shouted at us that we were late. We were supposed to sit at a table right by the door, it was also really loud. We politely declined, were warmly welcomed at a restaurant in the immediate vicinity and ate and drank very well.

Yesterday I was a bit confused as to why the former Lenzig restaurant is now called "april". The old restaurant "april" at Winterfeldstrasse 56 in Berlin-Schöneberg had to close due to high rents and has now moved to Eisenacher Strasse 75 in Berlin-Schöneberg. The food (duck with dumplings and red cabbage) was still very tasty. I definitely recommend making a reservation, the restaurant was packed on Tuesday evening in December.

As a non-Berliner, I only go 3-4 times a year in April, but that has been the case for 30 years. It was nice to have had the French waiter to say goodbye today. He just said "No - see you in spring" what a nice person. Take good care of him and everyone else you care about!

Were loyal guests for many years and were there often. It's closing soon. We won't miss it. The service is now terribly unfriendly and inflexible. It's certainly not easy to find good staff, but the people there are now so bossy and listless at work that the good food doesn't make up for it. As expensive as going to a restaurant is now, I expect to be treated just as kindly as I try to treat my fellow human beings with respect.

These complement the breakfast perfectly and leave nothing to be desired. The consistently high quality extends through breakfast, lunch and dinner. We were guests yesterday. It's a nice atmosphere. Our food requests were responded to in an extremely inflexible manner. Carrot puree as an additional side dish is not possible because it would then be missing from another dish. There were no various extra vegetables (also grilled). When asked, they said they didn't have any grilled eggplant. It seems as if the food is delivered or pre-prepared. Kind of weird The first dishes had already been cleared away while others were still eating. I think it's part of etiquette now. Apparently not.

Be it breakfast, lunch or dinner, April has never disappointed us in service, taste or ambience. Thank you for the great culinary experiences we always have with you!

We went to Lenzig for breakfast and had a nice selection of different dishes. We were served in a very friendly and attentive manner, the breakfast was visually very appealing and the food served was all fresh, very tasty and rich. We found the price-performance ratio to be absolutely reasonable. The only annoying thing was that our table on the terrace wobbled a lot when someone walked past it - we had to be careful that the coffee didn't spill over. Otherwise, we will definitely go there again soon for breakfast.

We came here to eat and drink on a warm spring day. The Caribbean fish soup tastes mainly of yellow curry powder, i.e. what you can buy in the shaker, a bit of coconut and a bit of fish. A strong fish stock and perhaps a better curry would enhance the dish. The tarte flambée was good, but ordinary and the price-performance ratio was unfortunately subpar. €15.50 for a small tarte flambée is significantly more expensive than in many other restaurants (even the Renger-Patzsch is cheaper). But that applies to all dishes, even the medium-sized fish soup with three shrimps and four pieces of fish is, in my opinion, far too expensive at €15.50. At least there was some bread with it, but I was still hungry afterwards. The wines were all great, the beer was good, but surprisingly expensive at over €6.80 per half liter (0.4l for €5.5). But the fruit spritzer also costs an impressive €5.90 per 0.5l. The location, especially the terrace, is great and very comfortable. The service was friendly and quite quick in a professional manner. Unfortunately, this doesn't compensate for the poor price-performance ratio, so we won't be visiting the restaurant again.

Nice service, but we found the food rather disappointing. Barely seasoned and mine was almost cold. At €21 per dish, the value for money is simply not right! 6.90 for a large spritzer is also an announcement. I'd love to come back for brunch, maybe it would be more suitable! P.S.
