Very nice ambience, very nice service and very nice food.

We were there for breakfast. Food was ok, but nothing beyond that. Service only comes when called and doesn't ask if anything is missing/drinks etc. The ambience is a bit cold and loveless. Maybe better in the evening or outside when you can't see the flaws. Slightly musty smell. With goodwill 3 stars instead of 2.

So far everything is good there. The food was tasty, even if it was a bit too greasy for my taste, but as we all know, tastes are different. The paths to the tables are a bit narrow when you come in and sit on the gallery on the left, you have to pass the tables on the left and right. And if someone sits at the table on the left a little further away from the table, it's really difficult. You can't get past it with two people. If someone comes towards you, e.g. you have to go back to the waiter. Otherwise pretty good there.

My recommendation! Great perfectly grilled steak with baked potatoes. Wonderful. The service staff was very attentive and friendly. I would go there again if it wasn't so far away. 100 km, visiting friend. 7 out of 5 stars.

I was in this restaurant with a larger group in the summer and was honestly very disappointed, especially with the treatment of vegan guests. Despite being an Italian restaurant, there are no vegan options on the menu, which is unusual for most restaurants of this type these days. First of all, I noticed that some dishes were incorrectly marked as vegetarian (dishes with fish). I wanted to order a simple dish – a pasta arrabiata without cheese – and just to be on the safe side I asked if it would be vegan. The waitress, who was quite unfriendly, informed me that there was egg in the noodles. This surprised me, but I accepted it. Next I tried ordering a pizza without cheese. Again, I was told that there was egg in the pizza dough. I found that unusual and mentioned it because egg in pizza dough isn't exactly typical. However, the waitress reacted quite rudely. All I can eat is air with a side dish of passive-aggressive service. I finally found out where humor and hospitality retired: here! To be honest, I don't know a single restaurant, neither in Germany nor in Italy, that puts eggs in their pizza dough because it simply doesn't belong there. Maybe the waitress is misinformed, it would just be stupid since she says she has been working in this restaurant for over 20 years. In any case, if you're looking for an authentic (and good) pizza, you've come to the wrong place, here you can only get pancakes. In the end, all I could do was order a portion of fries as there seemed to be no other option available for me. I wasn't prepared to spend more money at a restaurant that was so inflexible and so rude to guests with special dietary needs. What was particularly shocking was that I found out later that the waitress had made fun of me, with statements like "As a vegan, it's your own fault and you just have to look at where you get your food from. You can't expect a restaurant to take that into account and offers vegan dishes." And not even privately, but she said it to a friend who was there with me, who of course told me about it. I find this unacceptable and highly unprofessional. She also complained that it wasn't normal for a restaurant to offer vegan options - but that wasn't a problem in the restaurant right next door and there were numerous dishes on offer. I want to emphasize: I wasn't asking for specific vegan dishes, but rather wanted simple adaptations of existing dishes - something that is easily possible in many restaurants. But here it almost seems as if people are actively trying to make vegan options extra complicated. Conclusion: If you're in the mood for egg, frustration and a waitress who gossips about you while you're still sitting in the restaurant, then you've come to the right place. However, if you want to feel welcome as a vegan, allergy sufferer or someone with special requests, it's better to go somewhere else, for example to the restaurant next door. The attitude and treatment of guests really leaves a lot to be desired. Ingredients such as eggs or milk in particular can be life-threatening for allergy sufferers - a well-run restaurant should not only be willing to be considerate, or at least friendly, but also be able to provide clear and correct information about the ingredients.

Nice service and the pizza dough was very tasty! I had pizza with mushrooms where there was a little too much cheese on it for my taste. But everyone thinks that differently.

Nice varied menu with lunch and monthly specials. There was a special Oktoberfest-themed menu for our visit. The dishes came very quickly and were all very tasty and filling. We can give our clear recommendation.

We were invited for a birthday... Food was well...not really great. The drinks came in bottles, unfortunately the glasses that came with them were dull and dirty. Fries were very hard. Jägerschnitzel had more of a tomato sauce... But the tiramisu was very tasty 😋 Toilets in the basement are rather creepy with masses of spiders in the corners... Cleaning recommended...

I was looking forward to ordering a Jägerschnitzel with fried potatoes and was bitterly disappointed with the sauce........this was made with tomato paste.......sorry that doesn't work at all.......

Very nice location and very nice and friendly staff. We celebrated a birthday there and we were able to round it off very well in this restaurant. We'd love to come back again.

Certainly a choice in Ratzeburg. If you're willing to drive a bit, you'll find better options. All in all, it's an okay location and the food is solidly good.

Fast, friendly service, tasty food at a reasonable price

The food was very good and filling. We had the hamburger padfish and the rower's plate. There are only 2 stars for the service because the parmesan with the pasta was charged separately at 5.50 euros without us ordering it or without it being marked on the menu. Open communication would have been desirable.

Sitting outside is exciting: the traffic ranges from rural (three fat tractors with huge manure tanks, hay deliveries...) to cruising (big AMG with correspondingly important drivers who park directly opposite), in between the lady from the local public order office who spends half the hour with us Parking disc tirelessly enforced. Staff very friendly throughout, everyone! Wide range, which is great for mixed groups: from sour meat to tarte flambée and baked potatoes, a lot of selection of pizza and pasta to a specialty menu that gave us terrific spaghetti with chanterelles. Recommendation.

Unfortunately, you can't agree with the mostly positive reviews... Food is rather mediocre, salad is limp and doesn't look very fresh. You might get full, but unfortunately the restaurant is far from being a 'highlight'...

In visita al paese abbiamo cercato un posto dove mangiare. Siamo entrati in questo locale senza leggere alcuna recensione anche perché non mi è parso che il paese offra molte alternative. Le mie aspettative erano piuttosto basse. Quando poi ho visto il menu con tantissimi piatti le mie aspettative sono ulteriormente calate (diffido dei ristoranti che hanno troppe opzioni). Ed invece mi sono proprio sbagliato. Ho ordinato delle ribs ed erano ottime. Buona birra, servizio cordiale e prezzo ottimo. Insomma una buona soluzione per una sosta.

Food was okay but nothing special. The atmosphere doesn't seem very comfortable. Unfortunately, the service for us wasn't really friendly and gave the impression of being in a bad mood - unfortunately we don't feel the need to repeat it.

We went out to eat with the family and were very happy that we spontaneously got a table... unfortunately the joy faded extremely quickly. Because we first waited 30 minutes for our drinks and then had to wait over an hour and a half for our food. When the food finally came, half of it was lukewarm and far too little for the price.

A great restaurant in the middle of beautiful Ratzeburg. It offers nice places outside and a stylish indoor area that still has a real pub charm. The food is very good and when you order a schnitzel you really get real schnitzel meat and not pressed meat. The price-performance ratio is also unique. The service is also very attentive and not intrusive. Food came to the table quickly and hot too. All in all a very nice restaurant where you can go again and again.

We were able to enjoy a very good breakfast in the Lavastein restaurant in the beautiful old town of Ratzeburg. The service was friendly, if a bit cheeky. ;-) But that was okay too. The breakfast was very generous for its price, really sufficient and very tasty. We had a beautiful sunny morning and were allowed to sit outside. Very nice.

Always worth a visit. Whether in summer or winter, indoors or outdoors, we love being guests at Lavastein. The Pizza Parma has been my undefeated favorite since the first visit ;)

The food was very good. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. The ambience is just a pub. It was just very, very warm in there and you couldn't open a window.

Of course we also had to fortify ourselves on our Ratzeburg tour and we chose the lava stone for this purpose. It was definitely a good choice because the service was in a great mood and the food was also great. When the weather was good, we sat outside and enjoyed one or two ice-cold beers.
