We ordered 4 different dishes and they were all excellent. Even though the price is a bit expensive, it is worth it, it is really successful

This restaurant in Potsdam is really great. The interior design is nice. Music selections are very good. And most importantly, their dishes appeal to both the eye and the palate. The employees were also very attentive and friendly. I've already added it to my favourites. 🌼

The Laila restaurant is located at Lindenstraße 56, 14467 Potsdam. This is a good Persian restaurant. The ambience and atmosphere there is very pleasant. There are also good guests here. I drank good beers there and ate a Tandori as Bamyan. Both were very delicious. The staff is very friendly, helpful, socially competent and very valuable. We were very enthusiastic, the food was great (mixed starter plate, grill plate and surprise plate) and the service was even better. Very attentive, polite, friendly and funny. I can recommend it without reservation.

Das Zentrum Potsdams ist ganz besonders: in allen Straßenzügen etwa gleich hohe kleine Häuser mit je zwei Stockwerken und manchmal einer zusätzlichen Gaube, alte Laternen, altes Kopfsteinpflaster. Am Ende dieses Altstadt-Areals sind jeweils unübersehbare historische Bauwerke (Brandenburger Tor, Jägertor), in der Mitte Sperrpoller, um durchrauschenden Durchgangsverkehr zu unterbinden. Es gibt also nur Anlieger- und Gelegenheitsverkehr, Fußgänger dürfen auch auf der Straße gehen. Der Clou jedoch: etwa 50 verschiedene Restaurants auf engstem Raum mit allen möglichen Angeboten -- Steakhaus, Weinlokal, deutsche, französische, griechische, spanische, russische, libanesische und persische Küche, Thai-Restaurant, Inder, kroatische Kost und was es noch so gibt. Wir entschieden uns für persische Küche. Fast sämtliche Lokalitäten sind in kleinen Räumen mit jeweils geringem Platzangebot und so wurden wir zunächst abgewiesen, aber dann fand sich doch noch ein kleines Tischchen. Alles im Laila ist sehr eng, im Toilettenraum sogar so sehr, daß man sich kaum bewegen kann. Auffallend war an diesem Abend von Anbeginn die herzliche Gastfreundlichkeit des Servicepersonals. Da ich als Hauptspeise ein laut Karte Linsen enthaltendes Gericht bestellen wollte, wählte ich als Vorspeise, um etwaige Verdauungsprobleme zu vermeiden, nicht eine von mir sonst bevorzugte orientalische Linsensuppe, sondern eine Tomatensuppe. Die war mit durchaus reicher Geschmacksnote, harmonisch abgeschmeckt und insofern köstlich. Danach "Kufte": Das ist nicht viel anders als die in der Türkei als "Köfte" bezeichneten gut gewürzten Hackbällchen, hier serviert mit geschroteten gelben Linsen, Tomatensoße und Reis. Es war eine recht ordentliche Portion, das Fleisch von sehr guter Qualität, alles wohlschmeckend und soweit empfehlenswert. Aber persisch??? Von den Linsen habe ich nichts bemerkt, also blieb Gehacktes in Tomatensoße mit Reis, wie es so ähnlich überall serviert wird, vielleicht mit einer homöopathischen Dosis persischer Gewürze. Ich habe einmal in einer anderen Stadt persisch gegessen, dort duftete es schon bei Ankunft wunderbar nach orientalischen Zutaten und das Essen schmeckte himmlisch, authentisch und natürlich auch etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig. Schade trotz bester Qualität, daß man sich hier offenbar davor scheut, so wie ja auch in zahlreichen Asia-Restaurants hierzulande eine Kost geboten wird, die mit echter Landesküche der jeweiligen Herkunft weniger zu tun hat als vielmehr eine Annäherung an den hiesigen Standardgeschmack anstrebt. Um mehr Gäste anzulocken? Ich weiß es nicht. Meine Begleiterin hatte "Sereschk Palau" bestellt, bestehend aus Safranreis, kandierten Orangenschalen, Berberitzen, Lamm- und Kalbfleisch, Spinat und Salat. Klingt interessant. Ich habe es nicht probiert, ihr hat es durchaus gut geschmeckt, aber auch sie fragte mich angesichts des doch wenig orientalisch geprägten Geschmackserlebnisses, was daran typisch persisch sein sollte. Ich konnte ihre Frage nicht beantworten. Aber wie auch immer: Das Essen schmeckt ungeachtet dessen hier sehr gut. Größtes Manko: Es wird nur Barzahlung akzeptiert. Willkommen im MIttelalter?

Really incredibly delicious authentic food. All the waitresses were super nice and talked to us and told us about the origins of the restaurant. As native Iranians, we are definitely convinced and would love to come back!

Ambiance, service and food are all great! Nice waiters, very attentive and quick. The food is uniquely good. Sufficiently large portions, well seasoned and very tasty. After a good hour we had our starters and the main course, even though the restaurant was completely full inside and well outside too. The only point of criticism: €5.90 for a large beer/drink is outrageously high and no longer in line with the market.

In short, for me one of the best restaurants in Potsdam. We have lived here for 7 years and have tried a few restaurants but this is one of the best, along with the cooking room. Reservations definitely make sense! We were there from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday and it still became noticeably more crowded. But the two waiters were super friendly and we had to try the large surprise platter for two people since it was our first time there. The food tasted really good. For dessert there were figs and a mocha. We both left the restaurant and were satisfied. And in this case we will definitely come back! Thank you Laila

Food, service and ambience at its best

A really great restaurant, highly recommended! Top service, good advice, incredibly good cuisine, really tasty, the location is fantastic outside in the summer, but unfortunately now in the fall, hence the point deduction, the next room was very drafty, so I immediately got a cold. But I absolutely recommend it!!! Thank you!!!

Excellent service, very good advice on changing the selected dishes and side dishes to avoid allergic reactions in connection with certain spices - in other words - comprehensive knowledge of the ingredients used was available. We enjoyed it very much.

The attitude of the staff was polite and friendly, the environment was beautiful, the food was expensive in my opinion, and it was small in size but they had delicious sauces, I was a little surprised by the food service because we had to ask for spoons and forks.

Five of us were there for the first time. It was the best meal we have ever eaten in a restaurant. The lamb was tender and well seasoned, the rice was a dream. No matter what we ate, it was all very good. Large portions and beautifully presented to the eye. Unfortunately we didn't manage to do everything. They wrapped it up nicely for us and we took it with us. The service was friendly and attentive and quick. We would like to go there more often but we live at the other end of Germany. The oriental ambience was also very nice. 5 stars in all areas 🥰👍

I haven't eaten so well in a long time 😊.The rice and sauce were delicious, the chicken was very tender. We actually wanted another dish, but we had already run out, which wasn't a bad thing at all. You get full, but don't feel full. We'll definitely be back!!! 😃

I give it five stars with full confidence. For me, the food is one of the top things I have ever eaten in this culinary area. The service was also top notch. With reservations (my recommendation) we had great seats, very attentive service and great advice on choosing our dishes. No deduction in the rating, but the lack of card payment options (we had already noticed before) and the still water were discussed at the table. It could have been bottled tap water, which wouldn't be a bad thing - except for the price. No matter what, we were all full and very satisfied. Thank you very much and see you next time...🙋🏻‍♂️

The restaurant is very nicely decorated, with outside seating. We were greeted very warmly with a cold drink, the staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. The portions of the dishes are generous and the dishes are prepared with a lot of love. In addition, the dishes are very beautiful! We'd love to come back :)

This is definitely NOT a Persian restaurant by any means! The food is not authentic, and the taste isn’t the one that you’d expect.

The restaurant is not Persian, it has a very limited Afghan (maybe) menu with Indian rice instead of Persian rice. The taste was not authentic at all. The name and design of the restaurant is Arabic and the food is not Persian. The staff are checking on you annoyingly as if they are want you to leave the table asap.

Bis jemand uns einen reservierten Tisch geben konnte bzw sich zuständig fühlte war die Stimmung für den Abend schon etwas gesenkt. Leider konnte das Essen und der Service am Tisch die Stimmung nich verbessern. Das nur Barzahlungen akzeptiert werden, (kein Hinweis auf Webseite oder bevor man das Restaurant betritt) ist nicht zeitgemäß.

None of the foods were Persian, maybe Afghan food but if you desire a Persien food this place is not a recommended place to go. Personell were nice but the food and quality couldn’t satisfy us!

The food was amazing. It was fresh and served promptly. Presentation was pretty satisfactory too. I specially liked the green chutney with grill. It was tangy and spicy. The rice tasted good. We ordered grill for two. Note: they only take cash. It costed 70€ for two.

Very nice restaurant with a great atmosphere and very good and authentic food!

Wir hatten langfristig im Vorfeld einen Tisch bestellt, wir waren 8 erwachsene Personen und feierten einen Geburtstag. Meine telefonische Bitte, einen Platz für das Geburtstagskind etwas besonders zu gestalten (vielleicht mit einer Blume, einer Kerze oder einer Serviette) wurde kurz und barsch damit abgelehnt, dass sie so etwas nicht machen, und Blumen ständen eh auf dem Tisch. Wir kamen pünktlich an, standen über 5 Minuten im Hauseingang herum, wurden dann an unseren Tisch geführt, auf dem keine einzige Blume stand, keine Kerze, nichts. Die Inneneinrichtung des Restaurants ist allerding sehr schön (bis auf den Umstand, dass man auf dem Weg zur Toilette sehr eng an einem bestzten Tisch vorbei muss und dort böse Blicke erntet). Wir bestellten unser Essen, mein Mann wollte als einziger zusätzlich eine Vorspeise, die zusammen mit den Hauptspeisen kommen sollte. Die Vorspeise wurde leider vergessen, kann ja mal passieren... Das Essen war tatsächlich ganz hervorragend, ein wahres Geschmackserlebnis, jeder Bissen ein Genuß. Die Küche hätte locker 6 Sterne verdient, wenn es die gäbe. Der Service war zwar höflich, wirkte aber irgendwie lust- und respektlos und keinesfalls herzlich. Leider darf man auch nur 2h bleiben. Als die Rechnung kam, stand die vergessene Vorspeise mit drauf. Mein Mann bat darum, diese raus zu nehmen, da sie ja nicht serviert wurde. Da hat der Kellner die Augen gerollt. Ich weiß nicht, ob wir nochmal wieder kommen. Das Essen ist ist wirklich episch. Leider passt der Service nicht dazu.

This is an Afghan restaurant, not a Persian one! The interior, the design, the plates, the music, and most importantly the menu items were all Afghan or Arabic! How is that possible?! A disappointing experience if you are looking for an authentic Persian restaurant!

Lovely Iranian/Afghan food made with love. And according to traditional recipes. Friendly service and efficient operation. We got 2 grill plates that came with manto (Afghan dumpling), babakanosh and various sauces. My sister ordered vegetarian ghormesabzi. All food was cooked to perfection 👌

Very tasty sambosas, with great dips, delicious mango lassis and a great interior decoration from the restaurant to the toilet decorated with love. We find the drinks (Lassi and Spezi) too expensive at around €6 each for 0.4l. The service was friendly.

Food was good, a bit heavy in the amount of capsicum in every dish. Grilled vegetables were disappointing - too much olives, too little variety of actually ‘grilled’ veggies (the capsicum were just slightly cooked in oil). But the most disappointing thing is that when ordering STILL water that comes in an obviously multiple used refilled bottle which had SPARKLING written on it and the waiter confirmed it was still and then being charged €7 which is regular price if it would be the real stuff and not just refilled!!! That’s cheating on the customers.

The Indian restaurant is located in the Dutch quarter in Potsdam. We sat in the counter area, which is sometimes a little restless and a little cramped... We became very! We were kindly served by the waiter behind the counter and made a few recommendations, such as wine. The mantis were tasty, but perhaps could have used a few different sauces. So that they could develop their aromas more individually. The starter was just great! We would definitely come here again 💫

The location is beautifully oriental. Seating outside is ok. The food was really good, the portions were rather small for the price. There was no alternative for children. Drinks menu manageable. The staff was nice, but they weren't asked often. The restaurant was also busy that evening. Price performance is good, just not for the big hungry. No card payment possible!!!

Excellent food from an area that can really be described as exotic: Persian restaurants are not as numerous in this country as Chinese or Italian ones. Everything is freshly prepared. That's why you have to allow a little time before the food is brought. You can shorten this with a delicious black tea flavored with rose water that comes from the samovar.

We had the starter platter for 4 people, it was varied and ok, so good value for money. On the other hand, the surprise platter for 2 people was different, very disappointing. There was a bowl of lamb and 4 steamed dumplings. The rest on the plate was RICE for a price of 44 euros. Now that was disappointing. A pity. There were waiters who explained the plate and others who didn't.

Laila is a small but stylish restaurant. We immediately felt very comfortable here. The staff is attentive without being intrusive. The food is good and harmonious. It's a good place to end the day in Potsdam. Please note: only cash payment is possible and that is no longer acceptable these days. Therefore I can only give it 4 stars.

Nice service Prices above average But good food

The restaurant was also busy at lunchtime on a Tuesday. The ambience is nice and subtle oriental music sets the mood. The dishes were all very inviting and were also very tasty. I particularly liked that the rice was still good to eat even without the sauce. Because it wasn't dry or sticky, but pleasantly light and fluffy. The braised figs as a dessert are also good to share if you are already full from the main course but would like something sweet afterwards. The Mocha Café is also very decoratively arranged. The bags are decorative on the small tray. It also makes the enjoyment a comfortable experience all around

Went there to eat from Berlin about 3 days ago based on a recommendation...the starters were really great! The food was also good but actually not outstanding for the price. There are some better taste shops in Berlin than this one. Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed with the ghormeh sabzi and the lentil soup was also rather bland. Had to ask for a piece of lemon and extra salt to give it a little more flavor. The kubideh (minced meat skewers) and the manti were really great! Prices are rather high, but I think they are normal for Potsdam. Overall, the restaurant is a great place. P.s I'm really impressed with the toilets😁
