Restaurant La Mula in Treis-Karden

I was so looking forward to visiting, as I wanted to eat there completely unbiased and without any preconceived notions. We had actually emailed them in advance, even though it was their day off, to request a reservation, and were very excited to receive a reply the next day confirming they were open. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case, so I called during opening hours. The table was reserved for 7:00 pm. Based on the advertising, I had expected something more typical of Italian hospitality. A smile to greet us would have made such a difference, but there was nothing we could muster. We were seated at a table that was very cramped in a corner. We considered leaving for five minutes because the greeting, the cramped table, and the lack of comfort made us uncomfortable. But everyone deserves a chance. The food arrived in two stages: a tuna pizza and the porcini mushroom carbonara seven minutes later, mind you, for two people. For me, as someone who works in the restaurant industry myself, this is unacceptable. One table is always served at a time. Unfortunately, the food didn't impress us, and the portion of spaghetti was, in my opinion, too small. Too bad, that's why there was no tip. As a side note, perhaps they should work on their hospitality 😉

The noodles tasted like a pre-made bag mixed with water. The staff weren't attentive. All in all, a solid 6.

Unfortunately disappointing – we can't understand the good reviews. We were there with a group of 8 people, and unfortunately, the food for 7 of us was absolutely disappointing. None of the dishes we ordered were convincing. The "baked macaroni" turned out to be simple penne with sauce that tasted neither fresh nor homemade – more like a convenience store meal. The schnitzels were dry and cooked so hard they were almost impossible to cut. The bruschetta appetizer was cold, the bread soft and soggy, the tomatoes coarsely chopped and poorly seasoned. The side salad came with a very unpleasant-tasting pre-made sauce. The spaghetti carbonara was served with an almost raw egg – that was really borderline. The only bright spot: One of the pizzas was okay – but nothing outstanding. Unfortunately, the service reacted rather unfriendly and unsympathetic to our polite criticism. What was particularly disappointing was that they advertised homemade pasta and fresh pizza dough, but we didn't notice any of that. Overall: For us, it was definitely not a culinary experience. We won't be back.

The service is friendly, and the atmosphere is cozy. As for the food, I found my pizza to be very dry. That's a matter of taste, of course. Reservations are recommended. Unfortunately, they close at 9 p.m., even on Saturdays. Keep this in mind when making a reservation.

A very nice restaurant, we were there with eight people. The service was friendly. Unfortunately, the food was only moderately satisfactory. The schnitzels were cold, as were the pizzas. The sauce for the Al Forno dishes was just poured over the pasta, then cheese on top, and that's it.

A good friend and I had pizza. She had one with ham and Parma cheese. Unfortunately, the pizza had been in the wood-fired oven for too long, and the ham was rock hard and partially burnt, making it inedible. My pizza with anchovies was okay. The crust was already charred and hard, as was part of the pizza base. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it ☹️

A truly fantastic and authentic pizzeria. Very friendly owners. We particularly like the stylish interior and the pleasant ambiance. Small but fine menu. Good wines. The pizza (stone-baked) is highly recommended! We always enjoy coming here.

The pizzeria looks very clean. However, we were very disappointed with the food. We picked up the food, but it wasn't worth the price. If someone had ordered the salad as a full meal, they wouldn't have been full. The price was far too high, not to mention the value for money of the pizzas. They were edible, but my husband and I weren't blown away.

We ordered a pizza with arugula, tomatoes, and mozzarella from the mobile pizza stand at the wine festival in Ernst. The waitress immediately demanded €16. After about 10 minutes, we were presented with a flatbread. On top of that were raw, roughly chopped tomatoes that looked like they had been cut by a visually impaired idiot on a circular saw. The arugula would have graced any organic waste bin. To top off the whole disaster, a huge ball of raw mozzarella was shoved into the middle of the pseudo-pizza, which had been cut into eight slices. When asked if we could get cutlery, the rude waitress simply replied "no" and moved on to the next victim. Conclusion: Never again!

After years of being a loyal customer, I'm very disappointed. Poor communication, no solution to a simple problem, and later that evening, I was rudely rejected for an order we always place. Customer service here is truly lacking.

Absolutely :-) Ate scaloppine and burrata and a salad with chanterelles... incredibly delicious, great attentive service... brilliant, many big city restaurateurs can still learn from this 😉

Super delicious and large ice cream portions

Had a wonderful meal with my sister. The beer and food were excellent. The whiskey was excellent again. A fantastic hostess and chef. I can't wait until October to eat there again. Best, Arjen

After 2 p.m., the kitchen is closed, despite peak season. Apparently, this has been the case for 30 years. How old-fashioned!

Restaurant La Mula exceeded all of my expectations. I had the Wiener Schnitzel, my wife has the salad with grilled salmon and my daughter has a pizza margherita. All were delicious and well made. The service was great too. There were no tables when we arrived but we were politely asked if we could wait a few minutes and a table inside opened up for us shortly afterwards. Since we didn’t have a reservation in the summer travel season, I was grateful that the hostess was so kind as to look after us.

The restaurant seems to be doing very well, which is a positive thing. We asked for a table. The inside was full. Outside, despite having free tables, they didn't want to offer us anything. It was raining, after all. When we told them we'd still like to sit outside, we were met with a rolling of the eyes. You don't want to impose yourself. I don't know how the food tastes. The service doesn't deserve its name.

Bad company with bad communication

In our high anticipation of our last visit, we were more than disappointed in 2025. We were treated very rudely when we reserved a table. It continued with the food. Well, we customers know by now that it's harder to find reliable staff than annoying customers. We say, keep it up, and you'll soon have fewer customers. It's a shame about the actually quite reasonable, albeit a bit overpriced, pizza. We'd rather stay away from you. Sorry, I'm working too hard for my money.

The meal was satisfying and well-prepared. We ordered a Mais insalata and a creamy sahne pasta with mushrooms and broccoli was rich and flavorful, balanced nicely with fresh herbs. The salad was fresh and colorful, though the dressing was a bit heavy. The crusty bread on the side was a great touch. Overall, a tasty and filling meal with good balance between comfort and freshness.

I came back here after seven years, and what can I say? The same friendly waiters and another great starter, a scampi cocktail with a pizza speciale. Truly delicious and rustically beautiful. Thanks and see you soon!

Delicious pizza and annoyed service - not the best combination

Toni and his team are great, and they've also beautifully renovated the restaurant's interior. And the homemade ice cream is amazing.

We were passing by and got to the restaurant 30 minutes before closing, and were able to get a table and some nice pizzas. The restaurant is busy, but the servers were still friendly and accommodating. I'm glad we stopped here for our dinner.

Had a great meal here last year during our annual weekend away. Perfect spot on a beautiful square, delicious REAL Italian food and friendly service. The price is also great!

We ate here today to celebrate my husband's birthday. The food is truly delicious!! I enjoyed the delicious food. Schweinefilet with sahne sauce I asked for gorgonzola sauce. The combination was too delicious. Really wow!!! Compliments to the chef.

Hello...and another year has passed and I was on my motorcycle again in Treis Karden. And again I was hungry and, like last year at around the same time, I wanted something very tasty to eat and I knew a very good address. Just for your information...I've eaten here with my wife from time to time...and honestly...it was always very tasty...I think as an Italian I can judge that quite well. But as a motorcyclist traveling alone, totally disappointed with the service. Maybe you don't want bikers or individual guests here. Like last year, I was told that everything was already reserved...even though there were no signs on the empty tables. Well, so far good...but when I was on the motorcycle, I noticed that the "Reserved signs" were quickly put up. Guys...then wait until you (I) are at least gone. I feel a bit "vera....." and will no longer visit this pizzeria every now and then (without a motorbike)....unfortunately and also a shame.

Very nice welcome. We were able to have a drink on the terrace before eating inside. We had two tables close together because there was no table of 6. Very nice atmosphere. The boss is smiling and pleasant. We ate very well. Please note, payment in currency only. No bank card.

We had 2 pizzas and a schnitzel. It was incredibly delicious. The schnitzel was freshly prepared (there were 2 normal sized ones) and very nicely presented. After all, the eye is with you. The pizzas from the stone oven were also great. The edge very crispy and thick, with a very flat bottom. They were topped with fresh ingredients. The schnitzel was accompanied by a fresh salad with a good dressing. They were all large portions, but were easy to eat thanks to the fresh ingredients. You were full, without that feeling of fullness. Very reasonably priced for today's times and the service was very good. Always with an eye for the customer, without being intrusive. We would be happy to come back.

Well, beer bottle dusty and sticky, already rusty from the crown cap. As a waitress, you should see this before you bring something like this to the guest's table. Bruschetta without taste, cutlery came some time after the meal.

Very disappointing started with the seat at the table being way too small, Starter bruschetta, not warm as you're used to, tomatoes ice cold bread, hardly seasoned. Pizza way too greasy. Too much cheese. There were two of us. the pizza rolls were also cold, The lasagne was very small for the price of €14.40 and had no taste at all, only tasted like dough and cheese. We won't be coming back.

My favorite Italian restaurant in Treis-Karden – highly recommended! I visit the pizzeria on the market square in Treis-Karden regularly and am always impressed. The pizza is simply fantastic – real Italian quality, with a crispy base and fresh ingredients. The salads are also crunchy and very tasty. I particularly like to think of the almond ice cream that used to be on offer – I ask for it every time, it was that good! The location of the pizzeria is perfect: centrally on the market square and only a ten-minute walk from the Moselle, a nice place to stop after a walk or a trip. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed, the price-performance ratio is good and the service from the Bartolini family was always friendly and courteous. Since I run a holiday apartment at the Stabenhof myself, I also recommend this pizzeria in Treis-Karden to my guests - and so far everyone has been thrilled. Authentic Italian cuisine in a pleasant environment – ​​a real insider tip for me!

The pizzeria in Treis-Karden, just a ten-minute walk from the Moselle, is a cozy place to eat. The decor is a bit outdated, but the friendly service and delicious coffee from the portafilter make up for it. The pizzas are really a highlight: crispy dough, fresh ingredients and an intense, full taste that is simply convincing! In addition, the food was ready quickly and the toilets were very clean.

The pizza is great, really Italian, and the salads are also very tasty. You can tell that because this restaurant is really busy. I'm looking forward to the ice in the summer, people have already told me about it.

Unfortunately, the staff has changed a lot, we used to always receive a warm welcome from the boss and we were very happy with everything. Nowadays you only find young, overwhelmed staff. We were last only after about 90 mln. served. We won't go there again for the time being.

Best pizza I have eaten in Germany. Very authentic! The dough alone is fantastic.

Having a “good” meal on the Moselle is not so easy in an area where tourist traps lurk on every corner. But La Mula is a hit. Very nice and friendly staff serve dishes that you won't quickly forget. There is one star less for the ambience - because cigarette smoke from the kitchen is very unpleasant and should no longer be the case these days. Otherwise: wonderful and thank you! for the great food.

I waited 20 minutes but wasn't served. The shop was open but apart from several waitresses there were no guests there. It was on a Monday on September 24 at 1:45 p.m You definitely don't need it!

We had dinner at La Mula and we were very satisfied. The pasta is homemade and the pizza was also very tasty. We were both more than full and if we stay in the area again, we would be happy to come back.

After a weekend in Treis Karden looking for something to eat, we ended up at La Mula. The first impression was very nice, the starter was tasty, so we expected it to continue like that... "far from it" Ordered the salad with house dressing, it came with balsamic 🤦🏼‍♀️, complained and then the right salad came...... Sorry, correction it came with house dressing with salad 🤨 The pizza wasn't really baked through and wasn't really tasty either, it was limp. Too bad, too bad. Well, we don't come here anymore anyway, but maybe we should rework the whole thing a little.

Yesterday, after a long day of travelling, we asked if we could get food. We were there just before the kitchen was going to close, but were told it was already closed. Today, we tried again. We went before 6pm. More than half of the chairs were empty and the staff were standing about idly as if they were not quite sure what to do with themselves. I asked if a table for two persons was free and the waitress turned us away after not really glancing at the list of table reservations. We find these incidents rather strange, since we often go out to good restaurants to eat and this has never happened to us before.

The food was great! We had a pizza with Parma and a pizza with salami, both of which tasted original to Italy. Very, very tasty, absolutely recommended. The salads looked delicious too! Very nice staff and also very child-friendly. Always happy 🤗

The worst Italian restaurant ever. The place was covered in flies. The staff didn't give a damn and blamed it on what I had ordered - a tasteless pizza. My companion had the pasta and it also tasted of nothing. She ordered a drink and it never came. AVOID

Always a wonderful stay at Family Bartolini, where you are beautifully situated in a quiet village on the Mosel with a beautiful view, friendly owners and staff, with delicious home-made dishes. You can also spend the night there in beautiful cozy rooms. Breakfast is no longer included, but the prices don't reflect that either. Price-quality is top and for breakfast you can always go to the bakery on the square. Delicious sandwiches and a full breakfast buffet for those who enjoy it

My pizza order was mixed up because we have two vegetarians, so they had to remove the salami from the salami pizza. This has happened many times. It's really tragic.

Food was very tasty, all fresh and homemade, we ordered pasta, pizza and antipasti, everything was simply delicious, service 3 stars because it was always late :) but most importantly 5 stars for the food, simply A1 and ultimately that's why you go there to eat a good pizza/pasta :)

We pre-ordered by phone and the food was ready for pickup within 20 minutes. The pizzas were very tasty, as was the bruschetta. Ingredients were all fresh. We were very satisfied.

Experiences can be so different in one day. Yesterday afternoon we just went to La Mula for an ice cream and 2 cappuccini. The ice cream was top class, the cappuccino was nothing to complain about, the service was friendly and nice. A reason for us to book a table for the evening. In the evening we had the opposite experience with other staff. Even the "greeting", which wasn't actually a greeting, was unfriendly - "Have you made a reservation?" The tone of voice alone conveyed to us "Guest, you're bothering me" The rolls we ordered were cold and the pizza was partly burnt. A paper foil was placed between the pizza and the pizza board, which was supposed to prevent the pizza board from getting too dirty, but the calzone liquid softened the foil so much that you had to constantly be careful not to eat any of the foil. We don't need that anymore. Treis-Karden has better restaurants to offer

Unfortunately, my rump steak was burnt. I would have better refused it, but I was too hungry. How a chef can produce something like that is a mystery to me. The good quality side salad was spoiled with cheap dressing, a shame. My wife's portion was noodles a children's portion. Not a single pizza roll. At a price of €16 it's just sad. Response to my application criticism not satisfactory. The pizzas looked good. It would have been better to have taken them. That left me with a bitter taste of burnt food in my mouth and a slight nausea in my stomach. My wife, on the other hand, was only slightly hungry. The taste was ok for her, but nothing more

A somewhat cramped restaurant with a sufficient selection of food, drinks and ice cream. The chosen seasonal pizza of the day tasted okay, but was unfortunately served lukewarm, just like the pizza rolls with herb butter ordered as a starter were cold. To the point of friendly service staff, it's more than just a fake smile, welcoming the guest honestly, sincerely and warmly, conveying the feeling that we are looking forward to your visit, it didn't come across that way. Even the trained eye couldn't find the right time to clear away the empty plates. The table lamps on our table and on the neighboring tables, which are part of the ambience, did not work due to a lack of appropriate charging. We will be back in the hope that this recession will be received positively by management.

The restaurant is very comfortably furnished, but I would have expected more from the pizza. The dough was ok, but the middle of the pizza wasn't quite cooked through and the topping could have used a moment more in the oven. The service was very friendly and the food was quick. I don't want to complain about that.
