Sehr gutes essen 🥘 und super bedient! Für große Gruppe geeignet

Der ganze Marktplatz ist wunderschön. Aber dieses Restaurant ist ein echter Geheimtipp. Das Essen war fantastisch. Der Service war gut. Ich hatte ein Bitburger Bier. Und als Krönung war der Apfelstrudel einfach himmlisch. Absolut empfehlenswert.

Zunächst sei erwähnt , das der Außenbereich sehr einladend und gemütlich ist . Man wird freundlich empfangen, fühlt sich gut aufgehoben und die Bedienung ist nett und bemüht . Die Wartezeit ist absolut OK und akzeptabel . Was aber gar nicht geht , ist die Art und Weise , wie auf eine freundlich und sachlich ausgedrückte Kritik reagiert wird. Es wäre möglicherweise zielführender , eine konstruktive Kritik anzunehmen , diese wenigstens zu überdenken und / oder ggf. zu ändern oder umzusetzen , anstatt Gäste (vor allen anderen ) derart impulsiv , forsch und respektlos zu behandeln . Wir waren sprachlos , entsetzt und enttäuscht.

Es hält, was es verspricht: viele Kartoffelgerichte in lokaler Atmosphäre. Und das, obwohl der Besitzer anscheinend aus Fulda stammt 😉

Absolut empfehlenswert. Man sitzt sehr angenehm in der wunderschönen Altstadt und wird vom Gastwirt selbst bedient mit einem angenehmen Schwätzchen. Essen einfach nur top. Preis-Leistungsverhältnis super.

Mein Mann und ich haben eine Nacht in Alsfeld verbracht und in Restaurant Kartoffelsack zu Abend gegessen. Es hat eine sehr schöne Lage direkt am Rathaus und wie konnten draußen sitzen. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und überaus zuvorkommend. Das Essen war sehr lecker, schön frisch und zu fairen Preisen. Wir waren rundum zufrieden 👍

Wir saßen draußen, direkt unterhalb der Kirche. Sehr angenehm dort, nicht an einer Durchgangsgasse. Die Servicekraft war sehr aufmerksam und freundlich auch englisch war für sie kein Problem. Das Essen war sehr lecker, Portionsgröße mehr als ausreichend, liebevoll angerichtet. Preisleistung meines Erachtens optimal. Der Chef persönlich bediente ebenfalls mit und war ein sehr guter Gastgeber, unterhielt sich auch mit den Gästen.

Sind gestern spontan zum WM Public Viewing eingekehrt: Überaus freundliches und aufmerksames Personal und ein Wirt aus Leidenschaft, dem das Wohlergehen seiner Gäste am Herzen liegt. Vielen Dank für die herzliche Gastfreundschaft!

Nach langer Zeit mal wieder hier gewesen. Immer noch genau so gut wie beim letzten mal. Draussen sitzen mitten in der Altstadt. Das erwartet man von Alsfeld nicht wirklich. Das Essen (Gröstl) war Mega lecker! Kanns nur Empfehlen. Das Personal ist auch sehr zuvorkommend und sehr Freundlich. Vielen Dank für den kulinarischen Hochgenuss

Das langweiligste Wiener Schnitzel, das wir je in Deutschland gegessen haben. Als Beilage gab es ein halbes Salatblatt, eine Zitronenscheibe und Bratkartoffeln. Dieses Gericht ist nicht zu empfehlen.

Sehr leckeres Essen, freundlicher Service, jedoch leider sehr frühe Schließzeiten: Freitagabend 21 Uhr, gewöhnungsbedürftig, schade, denn wir hätten gern etwas entspannter gegessen und auch noch einen Kaffee, Espresso getrunken, jedoch war der Kaffeeautomat um 20.45 Uhr bereits gereinigt.

Auf unserer Durchreise haben wir in der Altstadt von Alsfeld einen Zwischenstopp eingelegt. Beim Marktplatz sahen wir den Kartoffelsack und entschieden uns spontan einzukehren. Der Entscheid entschädigte uns für ein feines wunderbares Nachtessen. Das gleichnamige 🍺 mundete bestens zur Mahlzeit. Wir können das Restaurant nur empfehlen.

Wir waren gestern Abend dort Essen, Atmosphäre und Personal absolut super, auch die Jungen Servicekräfte, einfach super nett, freundlich und schnell. Essen war sehr gut, und schnell. Leider war der Chef sehr unfreundlich mit dem Personal und das vor den Gästen.

Wir waren beruflich in Alsfeld und schlenderten durch die wunderschön Altstadt, kehrten dann spontan in den Kartoffelsack ein. Der Service war super freundlich, flink & man fühlte sich sofort wohl. Das Essen schmeckte uns und war sogar etwas fürs Auge. Vielen lieben Dank.

Ich war mit meiner Familie essen und bin positiv überrascht ! Neben einer schöne Ambiente in der Alsfelder Innenstadt ist das Essen durchweg lecker. Die Bratkartoffeln waren gut gewürzt und die käsespätzle waren der Hammer. Immerwieder gerne !

Die Küche überzeugt mit traditionellen Gerichten, die frisch zubereitet und sehr geschmackvoll sind. Besonders hervorzuheben ist die gleichbleibend hohe Qualität und die angenehme Portionsgröße – perfekt für die Mittagspause. Der Service ist freundlich, aufmerksam und sorgt dafür, dass alles reibungslos läuft, auch wenn es mal etwas voller ist. Die gemütliche, klassische Atmosphäre rundet das Ganze ab und macht den Besuch jedes Mal sehr angenehm. Für ein entspanntes, gutes Mittagessen absolut empfehlenswert!

Ich habe mehrfach innerhalb eines Jahres hier in unterschiedlicher Gruppengröße gegessen, leider kann ich aufgrund dieser Erfahrungen keine Empfehlung abgeben. Pro: Das Essen kommt relativ schnell und in üppigen Portionen. Aussehen und Geschmack immer wieder gleich. Man weiß, was man bekommt. Contra: Das Essen allgemein ist fad. Salzlevel recht weit unten. Pfeffer oder andere typische Gewürze fehlen. Auch keinerlei Pep bei den Signatures oder regionaltypischen Gerichten. Bratkartoffeln in Form von 1-3cm großen Halbkugeln zum Beispiel, die die Pfanne nur kurz touchiert haben... Convienience-Food und TK-Ware, die durchaus optisch ansprechend, aber ohne Herausforderung oder Kreativität durch den Küchenchef zubereitet und dafür preislich unangemessen verkauft wird. Schade Kartoffelsack.

Einfach spitze. Essen bei Freunden. Kartoffelspätzle überbacken ein Genuss. Schnitzel wunderbar, Pommes auf Weltklasse-Niveau. Servicepersonal und Inhaber-Familie super-freundlich, hilfsbereit und schnell. Alles unkompliziert und 100% so wie wir uns das wünschen. Immer immer wieder!

Ein Schönes Restaurant ich gehe hier schon seit ungefähr 7 Jahren einmal im Jahr Essen und es ist immernoch schön.Ein kleiner Hinweis zum Service der erheblich ist freundlich ,aber die Hygiene ist hier ein ? Wenn ich soo erkältet bin und vermehrt Husten muss und mein ärmel nutze und die hände nicht desinfizieren was passiert dann mit den Speisen die ich serviere? Zumal ich lange Fingernägel habe? Obwohl auf deren homepage jede Menge Kritiken abgedruckt sind, finde ich keinen Link zur Abgabe einer Kritik. Habe daher dem Restaurant direkt per email meine Rezension mitgeteilt: "Hallo, leider waren wir von der Qualität des Essens (Kartoffel-Gratin mit pulled-pork + Ofenkartoffel m. Avocado-Creme u. Lachs) sehr enttäuscht. Das Gratin war fade, die Kartoffeln, die Soße und das pork schmeckten nicht frisch zubereitet-die Ofenkartoffel selbst war trocken und abgestanden, die Avocade-Creme konnte auch nicht überzeugen! Selbst der Milchkaffee vorneweg war sehr dünn und ... Wir werden wohl nicht mehr bei Ihnen einkehren. Anke + Rainer P.S. leider keine direkte Rezension möglich" Als absolute Unverschämtheit empfinde ich, dass, trotz Rückgabe des Kartoffel-Gratins, der volle Betrag in Rechnung gestellt wurde!

Das Ambietne ist toll, aber das war es dann leider auch. Grottige TK-Ware zu horenden Preisen. Die Bedienung ist leider nicht besonders freundlich. Selbst die Kartoffelgerichte kommen aus der Tiefkühltruhe was bei dem Namen der Gasttsätte echt ein Trauerspiel ist.... :( Ziemliche Enttäuschung....

Bei jedem Besuch in Alsfeld muss ich unbedingt im Kartoffelsack zu Mittag essen. Alles ist hervorragend, zum Beispiel das Rumpsteak, Schnitzel und die Salate mit ihren ganz besonderen Aromen. Der service ist ebenfalls super und sehr freundlich. Ich kann es nur empfehlen! 😉

Ein fantastisches Restaurant in der Altstadt. Das Ambiente ist sehr stimmungsvoll. Die Speisekarte bietet eine große Auswahl an Kartoffelgerichten. Der Krumpir ist hervorragend, ebenso wie das köstliche Tiroler Gröstl. Der Service ist sehr freundlich. Absolut empfehlenswert! 👌👌👌

Einfach mein lieblings Restaurant in Alsfeld

Die Lage des Restaurants ist gut. Allerdings war ich über das Essen sehr enttäuscht. Die veganen Rote Bete-Taler sind tiefgekühlt. Von einem Restaurant mit solchen Preisen könnte und darf man etwas anderes erwarten. Warum die veganen Gerichte dann auch noch mehr kosten als die mit Fleisch ist mir ein Rätsel. Völlig außer Verhältnis. Zu den Puffern gab es nämlich auch nur noch einen Salat. Damit war das Gericht auch insgesamt einfach zu trocken. Ein Dip hätte extra gekostet. An dieser Stelle auch kein guter Service. Ich fühle mich insgesamt einfach nur abgezockt. Schade. Gericht auf dem Bild, für 17,90€).

Wir hatten Schnitzel mit Champignonsoße. Einmal mit Pommes und einmal mit Klößen. Leider waren Pommes, Klöße und die Soße sehr nüchtern, das Schnitzel war okay. Das Ambiente war gut bürgerlich. Die Bedienung der Chef und auch Gäste waren sehr mit dem Handy beschäftigt und das nicht gerade leise. Leider waren die Bedienung auch sehr lustlos bei der Sache. Besonders die Bedienung mit dem Pinkfarbenen Handy.

Sehr freundliches Personal, auch Hunde sind hier sehr willkommen. Essen lecker und sehr zu empfehlen, gerne kommen wir wieder. MFG

Bei herbstlichem Wetter war ich im schönen Alsfeld spazieren und bin anschließend im Kartoffelsack eingekehrt... Ich wurde sehr freundlich empfangen und bedient und habe mein lecker Bier 🍺 und Essen genossen.👍

After three days in Alsfeld and a few disappointments with the food, this was a highlight for our tour group. Several different dishes, and each one was excellent. Added to that was the excellent service and a warm and attentive chef. I can only say, we'll be back. Excellent value for money.

Potato soup with potato sausage sounds good, but that means there are a maximum of seven slices (maybe less, I didn't count exactly), with three slices of bread—everyone can think of what they want. With a Coke, it's €10—oh well.

This restaurant is centrally located in Alsfeld. It's an excellent place to stop for a bite to eat while taking a walking tour through the beautiful old town. Our group (25 people) took advantage of this opportunity. We were not disappointed. The food was praised by everyone. The service was excellent, very friendly, and attentive. We will definitely visit the "Kartoffelsack" restaurant again on our next visit to Alsfeld.

I don't usually write reviews, but I'm stunned by this discrepancy between quality and price, and clearly a colossal overestimation of my own abilities. We hadn't eaten anything after breakfast and were looking forward to a good dinner. I decided to stay hungry after the first few bites. My husband had questionable-looking potato pancakes with an enormous amount of cinnamon sugar, along with a tiny portion of applesauce. When I asked if they were frozen, the waiter replied no, they make the potato pancakes themselves and then freeze them. Maybe. The appearance and consistency of the potato mixture suggested it was a convenience product, however. And quite obviously, the "homemade" pancakes, which thawed out, weren't actually fried in fat. Okay for a snack, but we thought we were in a restaurant specializing in potato dishes. It's a shame that a place with such a beautiful old town will be remembered as the place where you had the worst restaurant meal of your life.

Unfriendly and nonchalant staff, took almost 30 minutes before the staff was interested in taking the order. Luckily the food tasted good. We won't come here again.

This is a truly beautiful spot in Alsfeld. Quiet and romantic! We received very attentive and friendly service! The food was delicious and without any artificial preservatives! A proper restaurant with a very fair price/performance ratio and an interesting potato/schnitzel menu! I had the delicious cheese spaetzle made with potato flour! It was very busy, and rightly so! If we come back to Alsfeld, we'll go there!

Arrived on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 8:45 p.m. According to Google Maps, the kitchen was open until 9:00 p.m. A slightly stressed waitress answered my question about whether the kitchen was still open. No, the kitchen had already closed. No alternatives, such as a cold platter or something similar, were offered. Not good customer service. Please update your kitchen's opening hours.

We only got the menu after about 30 minutes. When the order was to be taken, it started with a sigh.

A very nice venue with a lovely outdoor area right next to the church. Quietly located, away from traffic and not far from the market area. The menu offers something for every palate. Portions are generous and very tasty. Customer-oriented service. A stop is definitely worth it.

There are also 2 different vegan meals to choose from 😉

Great location. You can sit in the shade, wonderfully cool, despite the almost 30-degree heat. Clean tables and comfortable chairs. Very friendly service, which isn't always the case these days. We really enjoyed the food: potato gratin with potato sausage and Tyrolean roast. The side salad was also beautifully prepared and delicious. We highly recommend this restaurant.

The chef seemed to be absent. There was still food. Gratin with potato sausage. I've eaten there before in Alsfeld, but unfortunately, I didn't have anything to eat. Everything was too dry and smothered with cheese. My tip: You can buy potato sausage in Alsfeld. The beer and Williams were excellent.

The restaurant is visually appealing, but the food leaves a lot to be desired... Tyrolean Gröstl, the recommendation of the day was a sea bream with a lot of bones, and my meal was a pork roll with Balkan sauce... the roll was covered in a thick, very hard-fried breading, the sauce consisted of mayo with a few slices of cucumber. The taste was nonexistent... only the side salad was okay. The prices are completely out of proportion, in my opinion!!!!! Sorry...

Great restaurant with lots of potato dishes or even a delicious sea bream.

We were there a few years ago and were very satisfied, but now, unfortunately, it's not what it used to be. The atmosphere is very nice, but unfortunately, the food isn't as good anymore. The food is either swimming in grease or is frozen, and that's how it tastes. Unfortunately, the fried potatoes are boiled rather than fried, and the potato pancakes are frozen. The tables are wiped with a wet sponge, not a dry one.

Very tasty food. The unique selling point for Alsfeld is the Kumpir, which is very tasty and highly recommended. The salad is also highly recommended; very fresh and delicious. Large portions, above all. Gladly. Again.

We stopped in quite spontaneously after a trip in the area. I had previously glanced at the (as we now know, outdated) menu on Google and seen a few pictures, but that was all I could do in such a short time. The largely positive reviews promised a pleasant end to our day. Unfortunately, that was absolutely not the case. The only positive things to note were the beautiful ambiance of this traditional restaurant and the truly friendly and attentive service. But that was it. The food was a disaster. The only thing that was appetizing was the presentation. The 'potato pancakes' – rösti from the freezer, served with enough cinnamon and sugar to bake an entire cake, but with barely any apple sauce. The potato spaetzle were spaetzle from a packet and not even properly cooked, prepared like at the snack bar around the corner. The fried potatoes were at best waving to the frying pan. They were more like slices of boiled potatoes tossed in oil, poorly seasoned. A million miles away from a Gröstl (a kind of German salad). The salad seemed barely washed and crunched with every bite. I've rarely eaten something so bad, and so expensive, too. Perhaps they should consider only cooking what they can and enjoy. It was a huge disappointment. If my lovely companion hadn't been so hungry, I probably would have returned the whole thing. It's such a shame; we were so looking forward to it. By the way, the pictures of the old menu should definitely be removed from Google; the current restaurant has absolutely nothing to do with it.

I ordered the "Alsfeld Paving Stones" (pork medallions with fried potatoes, mixed vegetables, and Madaira sauce). I got fried potatoes with onions, nicely presented in a pan, which were edible, mixed vegetables that were almost frozen, and a watery gravy that had no bearing on a sauce and had never tasted Madaira. The worst, however, was the pork medallion: of the four pieces of meat, three were irregularly cut, only one of which was a medallion. All four were absolutely cooked to death, and you could have played drums on them with a knife. They were truly cobblestones. Absolutely inedible. By the way: the service team didn't address my complaint and used a veranda table as a smoking area, so the smoke was transferred to the two or three adjacent tables. Overall, absolutely not recommended!!

A beautifully located restaurant with an outdoor terrace in the old town. Very friendly service and delicious food. We had the salad with rösti and spare ribs and were very satisfied. A definite recommendation.

We received a warm and friendly welcome. The service was friendly, prompt, and very attentive. We felt at home there, in the beer garden right behind the old town hall. The food portions were generous and filling. The food tasted very good. The price/performance ratio is still good here. We'll definitely be back again.

We read on Monday that they were only open until 8:30 p.m.! After calling, we were told we could still get food after 8 p.m., and now it's 9:30 p.m. and we're still sitting in the cozy outdoor seating area! The food is super delicious and plentiful!

We've rarely eaten so well outside. Very friendly service, no long waits. The price/performance ratio was completely satisfactory. Child-friendly. My family and I can only warmly recommend this restaurant. The outdoor area is lovely. We'll definitely stop by here again for dinner on our next vacation.

The spaetzle were from a bag and undercooked. The beef tasted like fish. The salad was a bit soggy... Still, it was halfway tasty, but we won't be coming back. The portions were relatively small... The service was very friendly, but you could tell they were just temporary staff.

On my second visit to the restaurant, I was invited to a birthday dinner at Kartoffelsack. My enthusiasm for the restaurant was definitely confirmed. I was already impressed by the Alsfeld pan on my first visit; the meat was of high quality and beautifully presented. The team was harmonious and accommodating. On my second visit, I had the spare ribs, which were very juicy and well-seasoned. The BBQ sauce was amazing, and the fried potatoes were traditionally prepared. You could tell the food was freshly prepared. The service staff were very friendly and the chefs were very welcoming; we felt extremely comfortable. We will definitely be back!

I recently ate here with a friend. It was busy, but the staff still made sure we got a table. Despite the busyness, the staff was extremely friendly, courteous, and attentive. The salad we ordered was fresh and crisp. The meat in the Tyrolean Gröstl was juicy and tender. My friend had the potato soup, which was perfectly tempered and delicious. Conclusion: Fresh variety and traditional dishes, competent staff, and a cozy atmosphere. Kudos to the Kartoffelsack team, we'll be back!
