Spännande koncept med potatis i alla rätter. Vi valde spätzle med ost o potatis o bakad potatis med grönsaker. Bägge rätterna var goda. Väl värt att svänga av autobahn!

Very nice location. The service was very friendly, even after 7 hours of work. We could tell the girl liked doing it. The food was really tasty. I had steak, my wife had rösti with salmon and salad. The potato sack beer is very drinkable, the espresso is small, strong, black and hot. Clear recommendation for further visits.

That was absolutely delicious. The Alsfeld pan with a 270g pork neck steak with homemade mashed potatoes, braised onions with lots of delicious bacon cubes was an absolute culinary delight. Top seasoned. According to the owner, who was an excellent host, there was a naturally cloudy cellar beer made especially for the restaurant from a Duisburg brewery. Yummy friends. We will definitely be happy to come back at Christmas for mulled wine and all the rest. The entire staff also did a great job. The village bull and the woman from the LDK say thank you🎉🖖🎊

A nice place in the old town. The tables are placed on a platform, so access with a wheelchair is difficult. The broth we ordered was of little essence, served with grated carrot and dumplings, probably made from groats, the soup had little seasoning, but that's a matter of taste. Personally, I think that it is not associated with the broths we are used to and I would not recommend it. Secondly, beef steak - medium rare, with fries and a mini salad. The fried fries smelled nice, but the steak... hmmm... the meat was dry and hard, tasteless, with a rubbery consistency. Bad part and he hasn't rested yet. I don't recommend it.

Unfortunately the kitchen was already closed at 6:30 p.m. Well, the Italian restaurant was pleased. It was full and guests had to be put off until later. So there would be demand.

Very nicely located between half-timbered houses and the church. We sat outside and it was very quiet. The menu offers everything a potato heart desires. The portions are large and it tastes really tasty. The staff is very friendly and quick. That was definitely worth it.

The service was very good! Attentive and very friendly staff. I ordered Kumpir with grilled vegetables, sheep's cheese and herb butter. I have rarely eaten such a delicious potato dish! This was not only a feast for the taste buds but also for the eyes! Kind regards to the chef!

Great, friendly and very attentive service staff. Salad with turkey breast strips was very tasty, the potato cheese spaetzle with fried onions was a dream. When the weather is nice, sitting outside in the historic city center is almost priceless. Prices are more than fair for the overall package offered. Unfortunately too far away to stop by🙈

A wonderful restaurant in the middle of the old town. Potatoes in all variations. The side salad with balsamic dressing was very appealing, decorated with blueberries and raspberries. The “Alsfelder Paving Stones” served in the pan with fried potatoes and fresh vegetables. The meat is very good and the vegetables are perfectly al dente! The service attentive and efficient. Kitchen from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and slightly beyond.

08/14/24, 2 people ate. 1 time Rösti with salmon and salad. This was well prepared and tasty too. 1x cream schnitzel with fries and a side salad. It wasn't clear whether the meat was in a pan or a deep fryer; it was very hard in consistency. The cream sauce was a ready-made sauce from the bag. Fries, well, that's how it went. Only the side salad for 5.50 euros was okay. Summary, one dish was ok, the second dish wasn't tasty. Conditions very attentive and also friendly.

Good home cooking is really recommended. The menu is taken out and the service is friendly and "on the ball". We sat outside on a warm summer evening. The only thing that was annoying was that other guests were listening loudly to videos and even making video calls. That seems to be “normal” there.

Our first time in the potato sack and we were really pleasantly surprised. A more than attentive service, all of our wishes were fulfilled and our satisfaction was asked several times. Despite the full house, they always found time for us. The portions (cheese spaetzle) and salad were very large. The salad is fresh and garnished with fruit. We will definitely come back on our next trip.

The food was delicious but the way the owner and his wife treated the waiting staff was downright degrading. Those poor girls were abused several times by them in front of the entire terrace. The arrogant man raised his voice several times and the run-down woman also humiliated the ladies at our table. Never again!

Very nice outdoor area, located close to the market square. Attractive menu with large and small dishes and very friendly service. The potato gratin was delicious and I enjoyed spending a while there with my dog, who was immediately provided with water, after a long tour of the city.

Wie auf der Hinreise in den Urlaub, hatten wir uns auch auf der Rückreise entschlossen hier einzukehren. Wir wurden nicht enttäuscht. Idyllisch im Herzen der Stadt gelegen (Parkplätze sind im Umfeld da) gab es sehr gutes Essen zu einem guten Preis. Mein Favorit: die Kartoffelsuppe & der Salat.

Well-prepared traditional food and very nice service. No children's menu but the option to order half a course for the children, schnitzel and fries were appreciated! Excellent outdoor seating right behind the main square with both sun and shade. Fresh toilets.

If you are in Alsfeld, you should eat here at least once. Since we had already been there twice in a group, we were able to try things out a bit and highly recommend the food. Service very nice and accommodating.

We had the Alsfeld paving stones. The meat was juicy, as it should be, the fried potatoes were crispy and the vegetables had a bite, which I personally prefer. The service was good, but could use a little more eye-opening. Other than that, I can't say anything negative. The outdoor area is slightly sloping, but this doesn't affect the ambience at all - quite the opposite. It has old town charm

Very unfriendly service, despite registering with a small menu for 25 people, we had to wait 90 minutes for the food. After asking why it was taking so long, we were told off in an unfriendly manner that there were more guests. The restaurant is absolutely not recommended!!!

We were traveling through in a coach with 24 people. DESPITE ordering the dishes in advance via email/phone, we had to wait a very long time for the food (1.5 hours). After all, all the dishes were served at the same time. The staff subsequently apologized for the waiting time. Eat: Schnitzel was good, salads were crisp, fresh and attractively presented, paving stones (pork fillet) were overcooked and very hard.

As a travel group of 24 people, we only received our food after 1.5 hours of waiting, despite pre-ordering. Pork loin was tough and dry. The arugula crunched when chewed. Service boss extremely unfriendly.

We have been here several times and are always very satisfied. It just takes a little longer if all the tables are occupied, that's normal. My special requests are always taken into account. I have always found the staff to be friendly, despite the stress.

We sat inside. There was no choosing a table. Despite many empty tables. There was a lot of traffic because there are two entrances. Very uncomfortable. I wouldn't have chosen this place. The food tasted very good. The pork fillet was fried a little too long. After our meal we would have liked to order another round of our drinks. Unfortunately there was no service to be found. Not even outside. When we finally saw a waitress, we just wanted to pay. It is now apparently common practice to show the amount to be paid on a cell phone. No question whether we want proof. ☹️😵‍💫😠

The location in the historic old town of Alsfeld is appealing. The staff is friendly but doesn't seem very competent. The food. Alsfelder Pfanne: neck steak okay, far too many bacon cubes, the mashed potatoes were okay but I can't define what was in it. Onion schnitzel, the fries and the onions were okay, the schnitzel was good snack quality. Salmon, the vegetables were crunchy but not very seasoned and the salmon was overcooked and very dry. Conclusion: there are definitely better restaurants. Small note, the people at the next table weren't very happy with the food either.

A great evening, the barbecue was great, fast friendly service and great music. We will be back definitely.

Have been to the potato sack several times. Food and service always top. The boss is very nice and it's easy to talk to him. The changing menus in particular deserve praise. This way it won't be boring. Keep it up !

When we visited, the cuisine didn't really suit our taste. Can you say it like that? Unfortunately, I didn't read the reviews that confirmed this until afterwards.

We were in Alsfeld for 4 days and dined there every day. The food was very appealing, tasty, the price was reasonable and the staff was friendly and attentive. Highly Recommended!

Ich war mit dem Fahrrad auf der Durchreise und habe hier richtig lecker gegessen, die Kartoffelfrikadellen mit Madeirajus und der Beilagensalat mit Schmanddressing sahen auch optisch sehr gut aus. Der junge Kellner war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Nicht so gut emfpand ich den Chef, er wirkte sehr hektisch und hat den jungen Kellner ständig angewiesen. Kommt für meine Begriffe vor den Gästen nicht so gut. Aufgrund der guten Küche empfehlenswert.

We come from Freiburg and happened to notice the potato sack restaurant while driving through. I was completely satisfied! We received a very warm welcome, the food arrived quickly and was simply top quality! The portions are very sufficient and the two of us only paid €44 for a main course and a drink. If we are near here again at some point, we will definitely come back. Thank you for the great stay! ☺️

It was my first time in the potato sack and I was disappointed. I had asparagus with potatoes, hollandaise sauce and ham. The asparagus and potatoes had no taste, the sauce was a packet sauce that was mixed with lumps. The ham came from the discounter pack (guess: round and pressed). All in all not tasty and at over €20 much too expensive. The restaurant cannot be recommended. Addition after the owner's answer: Unfortunately, the statement that I said before the restaurant that I enjoyed the food is not true. This statement is wrong and it is a great shame that such a measure is resorted to in the event of a bad review. We didn't let the food go back, we didn't finish it and informed the service about our experience. We also paid the full price for the meal. As guests, we behaved very fairly, so we are allowed to give an honest review. I rarely give bad reviews (only when they are justified) as you can see from my profile. As a customer, I don't feel valued, especially because of the reaction to my review. I rejected the cappuccino mentioned in the first question. After asking again, I accepted it. The intent of the reaction seems to be to erase the recession or make it look false. It would be better to put this energy into improving the quality of the food. The people who give similar reviews here would certainly be happy about that too. I would be happy to come back to the potato sack to get the price of the meal refunded (a total of €57.20 for two meals). I would also be pleased to receive a personal apology for the accusation of incorrect statements in the answer to my review.

I was back in a potato sack for the first time in almost 20 years and was extremely negatively surprised. Unfortunately the food was very bad. The pork medallions that came with the asparagus dish on the seasonal menu were definitely not fresh: the taste and smell were subterranean! We addressed the problem directly in the restaurant - the waitress apologized and brought a coffee, which, however, does not begin to compensate for the price of ~27 € for lunch. The medallions were not refunded nor were new ones offered. At the table next to us there was also a complaint about another dish (potato gratin), which suggests that it was unfortunately no exception. At least the atmosphere is like it was 20 years ago. In addition, only cash payment was possible - I can't say whether that was a temporary problem, but it led to additional annoyance.

Quick stop for lunch on a Sunday. We had the asparagus with hollandaise (they had a separate asparagus menu) which was very good, and a great weissburgunder to go with it. Reasonable prices too.

We had dinner with a dear friend. My matjes was excellent and obviously made with love. The two gentlemen had schnitzel. Obviously a finished product without salt. Under no circumstances was the schnitzel homemade. The potato soup tasted as if it had been made from ready-made powder. All in all, we will not recommend this location. It's a shame, because there used to always be good home cooking here. The customer always votes with his feet...

Quaint restaurant with a beautiful outdoor seating area directly opposite the church in the middle of the old town. Sunny and shady places are available. Also recommended for dog owners. Food is okay but the schnitzels are just average. The asparagus dish only had “Kinderschnitzel”. Service staff did a good job and did their best.

You can't handle criticism here. Years ago it was better.

Spontaneous lunch with asparagus, hollondaise sauce, potatoes and small schnitzel. It was fine for us, except for the schnitzel, which we wouldn't have wanted from the fryer. We had 4 different service staff who all asked about the drinks and food orders and wanted to take them. It was a bit confusing, but it was better to ask several times than not at all. The team will get there. Everyone was very polite. Card payment only from €30. This only worked after several attempts. We had a table outside, with lovely weather and the sound of the chimes.

The quality, the taste, the look and the service were perfect. If we vacation here again, we will definitely come back.

We give full marks!!!! We had a delicious meal and enjoyed the great service. The salad in particular was exceptional. Please pay attention to the table decorations, each table has differently folded napkins.

Restaurant is comfortably furnished. Foreign guests are also welcome. There is also a corner at the counter with a table for 2 people

I wonder what the gnocchi pan costs €16.90. Mini portion, on the other hand the spaetzle with salad and the baked potato also with salad, has the same price. Spaetzle from the bag, it was ok, but only because of the salad.
