Italy Restaurant in Munich (Schwabing district) is a traditional Italian restaurant serving classic dishes such as pasta, pizza and meat, as well as seasonal options. It offers a cozy atmosphere, good service and an excellent wine list. It is located near the Münchner Freiheit station and is a great choice for those looking for authentic Italian food in the city.

We've been going to "Italy" for years (decades). A Schwabing institution for fans of very good, unglamorous Italian cuisine with a focus on pasta, carne, pesce. In summer, the large terrace is a real asset to this restaurant, including football at important events. It's a human place, which means that even a waiter or a cook doesn't always have their best day, like the rest of us. But it's the long haul that counts. I hope we have a few more years to enjoy “Italy”. And for all tourists: Go there and enjoy!

Best Italian place in Munich for me. No Non Sense and false chique.

We have been to Italy so many times, now I would finally like to write a review and thank Sebastiano and his team for their work and performance! The authentic cuisine, the professional staff and the carefree atmosphere (especially in summer when the summer garden is open) have kept us coming back for many years. This restaurant is always quite busy, both at lunch and in the evening. Doesn't that speak for itself?

Had a reservation for this evening, March 21st, 2025 for 2 people at 7:30 p.m. The waiter put the menu in front of us, served the neighboring tables without paying us any attention, and then left at 7:45 p.m. It's a shame that there is no ZERO in the rating

Finally a classic “around the corner Italian” pizza again. The Neapolitan style is all honorable, but every now and then you just need a pizza like you used to!

We have known the restaurant for over 30 years and come from Stuttgart to Munich once or twice a year for a short city break. Our daughter is now 25 years old and penne arrabiata is her favorite dish. The salad is great, the spaghetti, etc. of the finest and have a perfect price/performance ratio for Munich. The male waiters have all been with the company for what feels like an eternity, which is the true appreciation for the employees, which unfortunately leaves something to be desired in our country

We showed up 1 hour before closing time to have dinner. We were given an uncovered table at the back of the restaurant and before we sat down we were asked directly about drinks and food. We then said we needed some more time. Less than a minute later the service staff came again (same person) and asked the same question again about what we would like to drink and eat. This happened four times until we ordered under little pressure. If we were eating, the same waiter would already put the chairs up and want to clear away from us. He was polite, but you could tell he wasn't in the mood and wanted to get off work quickly. He also came directly to us and wanted to settle the matter. When we paid with a credit card, we still wanted to give him a small tip in cash. He replied to just leave it on the table. We then refrained from doing so and left the restaurant. Conclusion: poor service, unfriendly and no hint of professional staff. At this time this is really sad. Not recommended.

The food is really excellent! I personally recommend the linguine with prawns and porcini mushrooms, they were great!

We ordered and it took 1.5 hours for a delivery that was originally estimated to be half that. The food was obviously cold and the quality was pretty poor. The pizza was definitely a frozen pizza We definitely wouldn't recommend it and wouldn't order again! This pizza cost €20.00

Poor service, simple, very old-fashioned atmosphere. Vitello Tonnato was quite good, as was the bread. The two pasta dishes were bad. Linguini with chanterelles… that was pasta without sauce with canned mushrooms and a chanterelle. ..and the ones with truffles had various black flakes on them, truffles probably more...less. Better than the other dish, but you don't go to a restaurant for something like that. If I have to go here again... it could happen unintentionally... I'm hoping for the pizza, I haven't tried it

Been going there for 30 years. Nice family business where there is hardly any change in the staff. Fast friendly service. Typical Italian restaurant. Price performance very good. Quantities are good enough. I can recommend everything there, especially the pasta (especially linguine with scampi), the starters and the Aperol. Nice covered terrace. Usually very well attended (which says it all) and it is therefore advisable to make a reservation. I like the atmosphere and feel very comfortable there.

Real Italian restaurant with very good price-performance ratio. Both pizza and pasta were very good, carbonara highly recommended, tiramisu too. Rustic atmosphere for more sedate ages, children are welcome.

The worst Italian food I ever eaten. Pasta was overcooked, low quality ingredients. Everything tasted like ready-made food from the supermarket. The portion was big so if you just want to eat a lot you can come here

Went to dinner in Italy this evening, we had 2 pasta dishes and a pizza, pizza was exactly how a pizza should be, crispy and super tasty. The two pasta dishes were also on point, firm to the bite, the prawns were juicy and not fried to death, the three dishes were extremely tasty, at fair prices. Definitely coming back.

I ended up here by chance, to eat some carbs before the Munich marathon. I found a traditional and welcoming place, excellent service and really tasty dishes. A very good ragout. All Italians and it shows!!

A feeling of harmony. We already know the people and we talk to each other. The food is inexpensive but good. You can do something good for yourself in Munich. The restaurant is well attended. We say thank you!

We like Italy for its pizza. But the other Italian dishes are also really good. It is pleasing that the prices here are still moderate.

I've been here a few time and the food was quite good, only issue was the server that was not so friendly and even ask for a tip at the end. There was 9 of us n we gave a 10% tip despite his bad attitude and impatience. I will still come back for the food, but hope he change his attitude next time. We may be asians, but we are still customers. So don't give stupid excuses that you were busy and could not attend to us, when u were just setting other tables and looking busy when it wasnt even peak dining hrs. For a restaurant to be really welcoming, get your priorities right and take care of the customers 1st.

The food here was very disappointing! I have rarely eaten worse. The lasagne was simply a warm frozen lasagne and the pizza tasted like Dr. Oetker almost fresher. The service was miserable. The table had already been cleared even though my daughter was still eating. Something like that is simply not acceptable! Unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant!

Super friendly, long-established Italian. Highly recommended daily menu: I've never had so many chanterelles on my noodles. And the fact that there were two more people in the end was a creative and really nice solution. An absolute discovery after actually living just a few blocks away for 12 years...

I went with co workers to try a new restaurant that one of them recommended. There were a lot of great options, but I went with the carbonara pasta and it was probably one of the best if not the best carbonaras I have ever had. I also ordered a beer and my meal was less than 20 euros. It was inexpensive in my opinion and I enjoyed my meal. I definitely recommend this place!

A real Italian in Munich since 1970 in the same management as the old staff. Classics on the menu and daily menu depending on the season. Perfect service and a family atmosphere, even though it has been full every day for 45 years. Keep it up!!!!!

Looking for a restaurant at short notice on July 12th at 9:30 p.m. Italy was very close. It was our luck to stop there. The service, the food and the ambience were great. The next evening we enjoyed a nightcap there. If we come to Munich again, Italy will be our destination!

I have known Italy for several decades now. This was the hottest Italian restaurant in Schwabing in the 70s. Then nostalgic feelings arise.

I was at this restaurant recently and I'm sorry to say it was a disappointment. When I ordered a pizza, I was looking forward to a freshly made, delicious pizza. Instead I was served a frozen pizza that was hardly better than what you can buy in a supermarket for a few euros. The dough was tough and tasteless, the toppings seemed bland and artificial. For the price the restaurant charges, I definitely expected more. The pizza also didn't have the typical freshness and flavor that you would expect from a well-made, freshly baked pizza. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant if you are looking for real, fresh pizza. There are many other places where you can get much better quality for your money.

Staff extremely unfriendly. I got two beers at the bar to have a quick drink with a friend at the small tables facing the street. In the meantime, one of the waiters sat down and smoked next to my friend who was already waiting at the table outside. When I asked to please stand up so I could sit down (table with 2 chairs), I was insulted in Italian and he left. It doesn't work at all!!!

The servers have a lot of experience but they are not very pleasant. They know how to strongly remind the French not to forget to tip. I have been coming there regularly for 6 years and unfortunately I see no progress in the attitude of the servers, they have been the same for many years.

This is my son's favorite restaurant as he loves shellfish pasta (pongole). The atmosphere of the shop is calm, but the space is lively and bright. Although there were some young people, there were many older couples and ladies, which I thought was nice☺️. It was very delicious. I will go again 😊

The atmosphere is wonderful, the pizza and pasta are delicious, the table wine is delicious, the service is good. Closed on Mondays, reservation required.

Was there for the first time yesterday and was very pleasantly surprised. It's a classic Italian with very fair prices. Will come again.

Etwas aus der Zeit gefallen - was aber überhaupt nicht schlimm ist. Es macht immer super viel Spaß, sehr freundlicher und guter Service und die Minestrone ist einfach überragend 🙂

Klassischer Italiener mit sehr gutem Essen (außer der Pizza, die ist nichts besonderes). Nette Ambiente, der Service ist gut, manche Mitarbeiter sind jedoch nicht sehr herzlich. Hervorragendes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis!

Ein spontaner Besuch hat die Crew nicht durcheinander gebracht, obwohl es sehr voll im Restaurant war, und die Schnelligkeit und Freundlchkeit sucht seinesgleichen. Das Essen war auch SUPER.... Also zusammengefasst, BESSER geht nicht.

Die Margherita Pizza hatte keine Tomatensoße (bzw. Sehr sehr wenig), war also im Grunde nur Teig und Käse, was absolut unverständlich ist. Der Käse war auch noch ziemlich geschmacklos, also alles in allem sehr enttäuschend...
