Nice waiter, nice atmosphere, delicious food, friendly to dogs

I had breakfast and dinner here as part of the half-board package. It's okay, but nothing special. I've eaten at restaurants (even without Michelin stars) that were much more appealing.

For me, this is one of the best, if not the best, restaurant/hotel in the Lake District. Beautiful ambiance, friendly staff, and excellent food. Unfortunately, it's usually impossible to get in without a reservation during peak season. It's a bit pricey, but I'm happy to pay more for that. Keep up the good work...

Das Restaurant ist deutlich besser als das Gästehaus. Nicht unbedingt von der Einrichtung aber die Küche bringt sehr leckere Gerichte auf den Tisch. Der Service ist freundlich und aufmerksam.

In diesem Restaurant kann man a-la-carte-Essen oder aber auch (bei Übernachtung im Hotel mit Halbpension) täglich eines von zwei Menüs wählen. Die Speisenkarte ist ausreichend groß, die Getränkekarte, zumindest bei den Weinen, aber auch bei den Aperitifs, eher sehr überschaubar. Das Ambiente ist ausgesprochen gut, der Service (personenabhängig) schwankt zwischen ausgezeichnet und unakzeptabel. Reklamationen wurden vom dann eingeschaltetem erfahreneren Personal fast perfekt abgewickelt! Wer aus der Karte einen Wein einer bestimmten Rebsorte eines bestimmten Winzers einer bestimmten Weinbauregion wählt, muss beim Servieren damit rechnen, unangekündigt weder bei der Rebsorte, noch beim Winzer, noch bei der Weinbauregion seine Wahl wiederzufinden. Ob das an Sprachproblemen der (aus Kostengründen?) nicht ausreichend deutschsprachigen Bedienung lag, konnte nicht geklärt werden. Klar wurde, dass von den drei ausgewiesenen Weißweinen zwei nicht verfügbar waren. Aus diesem Grund gab es eben den einzigen verfügbaren Weißwein! Die Zubereitung der Gerichte war geschmacklich und auch visuell einwandfrei.
