The Deutsches Haus restaurant completely surprised us. From the outside, it's a pretty building located right on Haussee, but you don't know for sure whether it's open or closed. The opening hours are clearly posted on the door, but when you actually go inside, you find the place packed. The food, service, and view were simply amazing—"WOW!" Thank you for the wonderful experience at your restaurant. Highly recommended. We had five different meals with six people, and everyone loved it 😁. We'd be happy to go again.

On September 28, we were guests at the Deutsches Haus with 31 people. The food—from the menu—was served perfectly hot, appetizing, and delicious, almost simultaneously. The kitchen and service teams worked very well. All our guests felt at home. Thank you.

Great location right on the lake in Feldberg! The price/performance ratio was very good, but the food was good, which was a pleasant surprise. Service was a bit hesitant but friendly! The ribs were very good.

We visited twice for dinner and were seated and served very nicely. The food was plentiful and delicious. The view from the terrace is sensational. There are also additional seating areas below the terrace. You can sit right by the water and receive friendly service there, too. We felt very comfortable. Thank you again.

We were guests on the beautiful lakeside terrace at lunchtime. The service was very fast and friendly, and you won't leave this restaurant hungry. Very large, delicious portions, good German home cooking—the name "Deutsches Haus" says it all. Everything inside also looked very inviting, with a full view of the beautiful Haussee.

We only visited the restaurant; excellent service and very good food. Beautiful location on the outskirts of Feldberg.

We had reserved a table, but the greeting wasn't particularly friendly. When we expressed that we would like to keep a card at the table so we could order more drinks and possibly dessert later, we were very rudely informed that cards weren't allowed at the table because they would be stolen, and there were no desserts on the menu anyway. After a long wait, our orders were taken. The food arrived very quickly. I had a schnitzel with chanterelle mushrooms. I assumed I'd get a perfect schnitzel for that price. Unfortunately, after half of it, I noticed that the remaining meat was very tough and marbled, making it unpalatable. I was offered a new portion or a free coffee. There was no apology when I paid. Note: The restaurant wasn't full, and the service didn't seem stressed. Furthermore, there was only one server who was truly unfriendly. The view is beautiful, but the terrace barrier needs to be cleaned and rid of spiders. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this restaurant as rehabilitation guests.

We didn't make a reservation but there was still a table available. Unfortunately the food was very bad and they served fried potatoes instead of chips. The fried potatoes were already several hours old, the meat was tough and the price-performance ratio did not match the food. The two waiters were nice but totally overwhelmed.

Service and view were excellent, but the restaurant could use a bit more aesthetically pleasing table setting—no tablecloths and neon green napkins. The food was good; we had breaded fish fillet and, unfortunately, a very underseasoned steak au four. Overall, though, the value for money was okay.

We were at the restaurant. We had reserved a table. When we arrived, the question came: "Inside" or "terrace"? We then said that we had reserved on the terrace, to which they replied, "Yes, then," and left us standing. So we found a table on our own. It took a little too long for our order to be taken. One person asked if fried potatoes could be served as a side dish instead of fries. To which they replied unfriendly: "We don't do that." Fried potatoes were also part of the menu. Everyone else ordered exactly the dish listed on the menu. So, no 20 different special requests. The food arrived. It tasted delicious, but unfortunately, the schnitzel was very tough and marbled for our taste. The other dishes and ingredients were good. The answer: It wasn't busy that evening. We had already discussed the terrace seating on the phone, and the question was perfectly fine, even if it only consisted of those two words. What isn't okay, however, is simply leaving us standing there after the answer. I'm used to being escorted to the table as a guest. I can't imagine that changing the side dish was that difficult. But there, too, it's about the reaction and the response. I'm pleased that the schnitzel is otherwise consistently rated as very good. Unfortunately, we just got the two bad schnitzels. That can happen. The food was otherwise good, as I wrote.

We were only there for dinner. The staff was knowledgeable and very friendly. The food was delicious, with generous portions. The view of the lake was excellent, even in bad weather thanks to the large glass frontage, or in good weather thanks to the lovely terrace.

I was there for dinner. The service was friendly and the order was taken quickly. The food was fine for me - the roulade was good, as were the dumplings. The cook was a bit frugal with the red cabbage, but that was bearable. However, the chairs were not in order. Saggy and hard, as the tables have obviously been in use for a long time, it doesn't fit with the otherwise very nice ambience of the restaurant. This also includes cleaning rags and items of clothing in the entrance area - that doesn't make a good impression on me. The location right on the lake is of course great, and you can enjoy it through the large window front. All in all, I rate the visit as “quite okay” and the service and food as good.

Since Google doesn't post my detailed review, here's the short version. Service: Rude, unfriendly, and irritated, no effort to get a table. Location: Great, right on the lake.

We had dinner there and were warmly greeted. The doors were open in freezing temperatures. It's a big, bright, uncomfortable room that doesn't seem inviting. However, the chairs were just as hard and uncomfortable and not appropriate for the hotel. The drinks menu is sufficient at first glance, but is carelessly made so that you don't really want to read the menu, let alone invite the guest to drink. The menu has enough variety, but is just as carelessly designed that it is incredibly difficult to choose given the high prices for this location. I received a plate filled to the brim with food. It was tasty, just lacked a little spice (personal opinion). Conclusion: For me it was the first and last visit. I felt like I was in a hospital cafeteria because the walls are so sterile and there is no interior design at all. Overpriced and average food. The staff is friendly and helpful.

5 stars alone are not enough for this ambience, plus the very good food and the warm friendliness in the restaurant. You are truly welcome here as a guest.

Since there aren't many restaurants in Feldberg where you can sit comfortably this time of year, we ate at the German House on two days. Great staff. Great food. Great service. Great location.

He worked the bar and provided the guests with delicious food and always had a nice word to say. Really very commendable. The food was super tasty. We arrived in Feldberg around 9:45 a.m. today. We wanted to have breakfast at the German House, as we still had time before our appointment. There were only two of us, and we politely asked if there was a possibility. To our surprise, we were turned away. Even a cup of coffee wasn't available. They said this was only available for hotel guests. A very special form of hospitality! What a shame.

Unfortunately, you're seated – I wasn't allowed to sit at the counter for a cup of café crème, as a tourist? But someone was already sitting at the counter – local, employee? "We don't want that..." I left the place immediately. Otherwise, it seems like a nice mid-priced restaurant; great location by the lake... -- Addendum: Thank you for your reply. Upgraded to 4 stars. 030125 :-)

We stayed here for a few days and would definitely come back again. We had two rooms on the second floor, one with a lake view and a small balcony, the other with a view of the church. Both rooms were nicely decorated, clean and equipped with modern and spacious bathrooms. The breakfast was more than sufficient - there was a wide selection of various types of bread and rolls, cheese and sausage, as well as jams, boiled eggs, muesli, fruit and vegetables and various juices. Tea and coffee are brought directly to the table. We also ate in the restaurant every evening and here too the food was always very tasty and the portions were very large. From the restaurant you have a great view of the Haussee and when the weather is nice you can also sit and eat outside. The staff is consistently friendly, courteous and helpful.

Disaster, tell your BOSS, his food is disgusting and his staff is abusive. I tolerated the bad food for years but “petting” myself and saying that the boss doesn’t want YOU to go out on the terrace with your drink…

We called to order seats and were told it wasn't necessary. When we arrived at 5:30 p.m. there were still enough seats available. We wanted to take a seat on the terrace, three tables were free. Unfortunately we weren't allowed to do this because the terrace is only for house guests, which we weren't told on the phone. Too bad

We spontaneously went to the restaurant on August 24th, 2024 after a long boat tour. Unfortunately we hadn't made a reservation in advance, but we were lucky and were able to sit at a table for two on the great terrace. An incredible view of the Haussee. The service was great! The food was great (served on warmed plates). Thank you very much and we would love to come back. :-)

Super nice hosts. Help you with every wish. We arrived earlier and asked if we could still have breakfast. Although we weren't supposed to come until 1 p.m. We were allowed to help ourselves at the breakfast buffet. That was very, very nice. Thank you so much. The view of the water was amazing. We came across this location by chance and were amazed by the wonderful view from the lakeside terrace. The food, in our case the fish, was fresh, very tasty and excellently prepared. It was easy to get over the fact that you had to wait a bit. We found the time to get the menu and pay too long. Especially since there weren't too many guests there. Nevertheless, full recommendation for this historic house with the super good Thuringian chef!

Very nice lakeside terrace on the Feldberger Haussee with a good selection of food and super friendly staff. The portions are large and very tasty. The price performance ratio is very good! We particularly loved the spiced meat, which was served in a large bowl with lots of cheese topping.

If you think you are in these price categories, you should take a look at other providers in this price range. The breakfast is very poor...

We announced our arrival by phone and reserved a table for two people. When we arrived we were told that reservations would only be accepted for groups of four or more people. Fortunately, a suitable table was found in the interior. The quality of the food was average.

Recommended to visit a restaurant

We got a place twice even without registering. What bothered me was that smoking was allowed there. Although it was in the outside area of ​​the terrace, but since all the doors were logically open, it also moved in and when you sit on the terrace and eat, there are five people at the neighboring table... Be considerate of the smokers and see the other food, well the food bothers them Zero smoking! The staff should have an influence or you should plan the smoking area every day according to the wind direction... or just skip smoking! The taste of the food was very good and it was enough to fill up even those who were hungry. For my level, the price is still close to my pain limit.... which is €20 for the Hamburger Schnitzel. Otherwise everyone is friendly, good food, nice view... as long as there isn't a cloud of smoke passing by...

I would love to give 0 stars, but the beautiful bathroom changed my mind again. But that was the only good thing about this store. Terrible service, who acted passive aggressively towards us and didn't even take 20 seconds to give a small child a new pen because hers was already broken. The restaurant's pencil box was less than 5 meters from the counter. Another couple was informed about the existence of a dish that came after us, but nothing was mentioned to us about the same dish and so it was a big disappointment. When you think of salmon fillet, you don't think of marinated fish, do you? Right, neither do we. The asparagus was undercooked, stringy and woody. It was asparagus season, but apparently the kitchen pays more attention to quantity than quality. The glasses we drank from were all cracked and even our little one drank from a cracked glass. What is that? Aren't we sitting here in a restaurant? Absolute impudence. And then massive prices that made the food taste even more disgusting. By the way, I don't think the potatoes were real either (I had the open potato in a foil, but it wasn't hard, didn't have the right shape and was just mushy) - deformed, molded mashed potatoes from the package from the discounter are more likely. I'll never set foot in it again, except for the bathroom, where the construction workers did a great job. If we had gotten the money back, I would have wanted additional interest for damages on top because this stay was unreasonable. We ate there on June 1st, 2024. And then an answer as if you were making it all up, thank you very much. This shows that the bad reviews are not fake.

My burger was just great 👌, The Potato Dippers are a few levels better than the usual fries 🤤 The service was a bit slow at first, but in the end it was great because we were loaned an umbrella. 😊👍

Went there for diving and then eating. Great performances from both areas and the food was super tasty.

The restaurant is located directly on the lake with a lakeside terrace. The service is friendly and attentive and customer requests are fulfilled immediately. The toilets are also clean and well maintained. All the dishes we had (group of 4) were delicious and the portions were more than sufficient. We can really recommend the restaurant. We can't say anything about the hotel, which the house is, as we only ate there.

I was there for lunch today. I know the restaurant and knew that there was good food in a great outdoor setting. It's asparagus season, so I opted for the season ticket. I had a fantastic asparagus cream soup which tasted excellent. The soup is characterized by a slightly sour note, enough salt and crunchy asparagus pieces. There was also fresh white bread. Even my grandma (the best cook) couldn't do it any better. For the main course I had schnitzel with asparagus. I can only recommend it. The menu states that the asparagus is offered al dente. Generally I prefer asparagus soft but here it was perfect. The asparagus was thick, fresh, tasty not watery and very cleanly peeled. The hollandaise sauce was nice and thick and appetizing. The schnitzel shouldn't go unmentioned either - crispy, delicious breading coated the soft, juicy meat. It doesn't get any better. The friendly and helpful service staff (my napkin had blown off my lap and I didn't notice it. But the waitress saw it and handed me a new one with a friendly smile) round off the pleasant picture perfectly. I haven't eaten so well and pleasantly in Germany for a long time. You feel very welcome. Thank you for the nice break. You'll be happy to come back there.

A very cozy restaurant. However, if you are a “foreigner” this is not recommended. I can say from experience that when you travel with "Ur Feldbergern" the service is much better than when you travel without them. Example: On the way, with the "Ur Feldbergern" mentioned, perfect service. People ask for drinks even though the glass is not completely empty, and people ask about their impression of the meal while eating. Absolutely 5 stars elsewhere, even more if possible. Without Feldberger accompaniment: You wait about 10 minutes for your drinks, even though you order them straight away. And you can say that only about a third of the guest room is occupied. Ok, you can say that's still ok. The food is delicious and in absolutely sufficient portions (you will definitely be full afterwards). But if the drink is empty and sits on the table for 20 minutes without a waiter caring, I don't think this is ok. At the next table there were “Urfeldbergers” who were constantly being asked if everything was OK and if they wanted anything else, while I wasn’t asked at all. Conclusion: Food and drink absolutely recommended, really great, but the service shouldn't make any differences between the guests, that's not possible. Update November 1st, 2023: Thank you for this answer from the German House team. I'm pleased to hear that this unequal treatment between guests was an issue for the team. I would like to make an appointment to change this perception (and have this explained to me). Unfortunately, I'm only in Feldberg during the current week, so a clarifying conversation like this would be possible there. Since I unfortunately don't know who gave the answer from the German House team, I would be happy to receive a suggestion for a date. Update: A few more visits were made and subjectively things have improved. You are greeted in a friendly manner and the service also makes an effort and something has happened.

Das Eis schmeckt gut. Die Lage zum draußen sitzen ist direkt an der Straße und nicht so unser wohlfühl Charakter. Als Personal ist nur eine Person die dort alles rocken muss. Diese hatte mächtig zu tun alle zufrieden stellend zu bedienen. Die Preise sind enorm hoch.

ausgesprochen netter Service, der zwar freundlich darauf hinweist, das noch / bereits geschlossen ist (waren um 12.00 und 18.10 Uhr da), haben trotzdem ein Eis im Becher bekommen. Das Eis selbst gibt es im Becher, wird abgewogen und nach Gewicht bezahlt. Si kann man mehrere Sorten probieren.Es gibt die Standardsorten, aber auch ungewöhnliche, die auch wechseln. Sehr lecker und unbedingt einen Besuch wert.
