Parking is just a problem. However, good access by S-Bahn.

Our visit to Hügoloss was a successful evening. Although we came during the week without a reservation, we easily got a place on the beautiful terrace with a wonderful view of Lake Baldeney. A real plus point, the view is great. The service was friendly and attentive. Our orders were taken quickly and the food came to the table without a long wait. The food itself was very good and the portions were generous. As far as value for money goes, we found it reasonable. A little tip: On the weekend, I would definitely recommend making a reservation in advance, as the restaurant is sure to be fully booked quickly due to the great location. According to the homepage, reservations should be made two days in advance. Overall, I can highly recommend it – be it for a relaxed evening for two or a meeting with friends.

In January I reserved a table for August due to a special event. We were assigned the last table in the plump ☀️. When we wanted to exchange it we were treated very rudely and rudely. We should find someone else Everyone had reservations. I pointed out that we had already made a reservation in January and then we were allowed to go to another table in the shade. From then on the waiter was very unfriendly. When we ordered a cocktail and wanted to play a little cards while we were there, we were forbidden to do so. Would not be allowed in restaurants. All in all a nice location with a great view. Unfortunately mediocre food and very unfriendly staff. Not recommended.Unfortunately!

The view is of course beautiful. However, the food is more than bad. As soon as you see the plates you can tell how little effort has been put into them, there's nothing that catches the eye. Food doesn't really taste good, I'm used to something different from Greek. Not really fresh. But I think the service is even worse. Totally unfriendly, the people who work there don't care at all. You get the feeling that as a guest you are more of a nuisance than someone trying to get rid of you. The people who work there are anything but warm. Never again ! I don't understand the good reviews here at all, everyone in our circle of friends feels the same way!

Nice Greek restaurant with great views. The food is typical Greek standard, the portions are generous and tasty. The prices are fair and the price-performance ratio is right. The wonderful view is particularly impressive. Overall, a recommendable restaurant with down-to-earth Greek cuisine in beautiful surroundings.

The food was good. Greek cuisine and a few extras. The Metaxa sauce was really good, I can only recommend it. Nice staff and a nice view over the lake. The food is good value for money, the drinks are a bit expensive. Unfortunately, ketchup and mayo come in sachets.

Das Restaurant bietet einen tollen Blick auf den Baldeneysee. Das war es dann mit dem Positiven. Der Service ist nicht wirklich vorhanden. Extras wie z.B. Reis und Pommes als Beilage ging nicht. Ich musste mich entscheiden. Wir sind vom Griechen ebenfalls gewöhnt einen Ouzo zu bekommen, auch hier Fehlanzeige. Das Essen war wirklich grottig. Der Gyrosteller beim Brückengrill ist deutlich besser als in diesem Restaurant. Ich würde fast sagen, dass es der schlechteste Grieche ist, den ich überhaupt besuchg habe. Zusätzlich alles sehr lieblos. Der Spielplatz ist sehr ungepflegt. Komplett zugewachse. Den Kindern reicht das Unkraut bis über die Knie. Wir kommen garantiert nicht wieder.

We were very disappointed. For years we enjoyed being guests in the Hügoloss restaurant with its fantastic view over Lake Baldeney, as the food, service and ambience were more than very good. We don't know if there has been a change of ownership, but last night it was just the opposite, unfortunately. When we arrived, we were rudely directed to a table by a "service employee" ("you can look for yourself"). Visually, this employee was anything but appealing (shorts, baggy shirt, dirty apron). The food came quickly, the meat was well fried, but everything had no taste or spices, we had to ask for salt/pepper, ketchup/mayonnaise were just thrown on the table in sachets; The way it was presented was completely careless, so we didn't finish it!!!!! The music in the main room was no longer of Greek origin at all, we felt more like we were in a gym with the boom-bum beat, terrible! It's a shame that such a beautiful restaurant is giving up its flair and therefore sales. Otherwise you had to make a reservation to get a table, yesterday it was almost empty.

It was a bit like a "big chip shop with a nice view"... and unfortunately the food left a lot to be desired for the money. It was my first time there and I was really disappointed 🙁

Really good Greek restaurant! With a great ambience up on the slope above Lake Baldeney with a view of it. Very accommodating and friendly staff, as you would expect from the Greeks. Food is great! Very authentic Greek cuisine very very tasty! The furnishings in the ambience are a bit old (awnings, etc.) which is why only 4 stars here 🌟 otherwise the Hügoloss is worth every good star given here!

Were there today, unfortunately a reservation was not possible because the phone was broken. The table facing the lake only worked in the second row. But it was ok. The food was great and the staff was also very quick and friendly.

Quite good! The food was very tasty and plentiful. I found the service to be a bit slow (even though there wasn't much going on) and somehow not really noticeable (you can see well or badly). But still feel free to come back! The location on the lake is really great, especially when the weather is good.

The ambience and view are of course wonderful! Starter plate for 22€ but completely overpriced for what is on offer, I can only advise against it. The main courses were all OK and tasty, but overall not a highlight.

I don't understand all the good reviews at all. I can remember that this restaurant offered a better quality of food a few years ago, but I would say that for a long time now it has only thrived on the great location above Lake Baldeney with a very beautiful view. But that was about it. Some of the food is at the lowest level. The meat is dry and tough. Sometimes very over-seasoned. Overall, the dishes are presented very carelessly. In addition, the labeling of allergens is a catastrophe!!! This urgently needs to be improved. I think I'll soon prefer to sit in a dark restaurant in the basement with no view - if that's what I like. In any case, there are some much better Greek restaurants than this one.

Unfortunately I didn't like the food at all, the gyros were pretty dry and the bifteki wasn't cooked through. Food used to be better. Staff is very friendly. Ambience rather simple, not really comfortable.

We have been customers of Hügoloss for years, everything is great and we often eat the chicken dishes or sometimes the rump steak. Service great, atmosphere great. Even a small play area on the terrace for the children. The view is awesome anyway

The food is so well... I had the beef liver. There were no fried onions, just a little fried and packed in sauce. The liver tasted ok, but the quality was rather poor. The staff was friendly. The view over Lake Baldeney is very nice. Otherwise it was pretty simple, but we also sat outside.

Wir waren mit 8 Personen im Hügoloss und waren einstimmig der Meinung, dass wir schon lange nicht mehr so schlecht gegessen haben. Nachdem wir die Getränke bekommen hatten, wurde das Essen aufgenommen. Der Mitarbeiter war absolut unfreundlich und hat einen Gast aus unserer Gruppe barsch angesprochen, da dieser sich noch nicht für ein Gericht entschieden hatte. Das Essen war sehr schlecht. Die Einrichtung im Restaurant darüber hinaus lieblos und ungemütlich.

My husband and I spent our birthday there in 2020 with several guests. The table was beautifully set up, really celebratory. Our main waiter, Efthemios (?) was very attentive and friendly! The food, as always, was delicious and everyone received their dishes at the same time! All the other waiters are always very friendly. Every time we are very satisfied and go home with a smile! See you next time in just under 2 weeks 😊🇬🇷🇩🇪!!! Update June 1, 2024: Were there again yesterday for the 6th time. I wanted salmon fillet Solomos, but with a baked potato. We had to pay 8.70 (!!!!) for the baked potato in addition to the 23.50 euros for the salmon fillet because it is no longer a normal side dish. I immediately leaned on it. That's usury! Nope, what great times those were when Yanni Kokkinidis still managed the restaurant! In addition, the side panels on the large terrace were down, even though the weather was nice and dry! That's why smoking should no longer be allowed there. Ok, I understand that IN the restaurant, but not outside on the terrace! So you probably have 6 fewer regular guests. In general, the restaurant wasn't well attended for a Friday evening!

Unfortunately, the second time I had diarrhea after eating at Hügoloss. Last night it was beef liver. The restaurant thrives on its location. The side salad has shrunk to the size of a (child's) hand - just iceberg lettuce, a quarter of a tomato and a green pepper. The quality used to be significantly better.

The food was okay but the way it looked on the plate was as if my 2 year old grandchild had served it.

Location, location, location...! The view of the Baldeneysee lake is unique. The ambience has the charm of a garden furniture exhibition, but is well thought out. The food and service are just average and therefore marginally priced.

Unfortunately, really underground! I'll start with the ambience, that's the first thing that catches your eye negatively. The restaurant has a great location with a view of the lake, but that's about it. The tables are completely bare, completely loveless, no flowers, no candles, places not set but the cutlery in containers. Even when you sit there are no placemats or anything like that laid out so that a bit of a feel-good atmosphere could be created. Zero stars for this. We continue with the service: Completely confused. Cheaply printed menus are not given in the hand but rather placed on the table. In our case, the staff unfortunately had no idea who of the people at the table had already ordered drinks and simply walked away, so unfortunately they had to leave several times. Friendliness wasn't really part of it either, so there are no service staff working here who particularly love their job, I would say. Zero stars. What was really disappointing was the food, which was at best cafeteria level. Side salad = three leaves of iceberg, a quarter of a tomato, a slice of cucumber, poured over with the ready-made dressing. Deep fried calamari = totally rubbery, impossible to bite through, not crispy at all. Vegetables as a side dish = frozen imperial vegetables, which really has NOTHING to do with Greek cuisine! Zsatziki from the big Metro bucket. There were hardly any eggplants in the moussaka. Everything was done carelessly. I've seen reviews here with photos in which at least a few herbs were sprinkled over the plates for the eye, we didn't have anything like that in any of our dishes. A disaster! I have to note that the cheapest prices should have been a warning to me in advance, because at this top location the quality inevitably suffers at 14-19 euros per dish. But I didn't expect something like that. I definitely cannot recommend this restaurant.

Leider wirklich unterirdisch! Ich beginne mal mit dem Ambiente, das ist das erst was einem negativ ins Auge sticht. Das Restaurant hat eine tolle Lage mit Blick auf den See, das war es dann aber auch schon an positiv Nennenswertem. Die Tische sind komplett kahl, völlig lieblos, keine Blumen, keine Kerzen, Plätze nicht eingedeckt sondern das Besteck in Behältern. Auch wenn man sitzt werden keine Platzdeckchen o.ä. ausgelegt so dass ein bisschen Wohlfühlatmosphäre entstehen könnte. Hierfür null Sterne. Weiter geht es mit dem Service: Völlig konfus. Billig gedruckte Speisekarten werden nicht in die Hand gegeben sondern auf den Tisch gelegt. Das Personal hatte in unserem Fall leider keinen Überblick darüber, wer von den Personen am Tisch schon Getränke bestellt hat und ging einfach weg, so mussten sie dann leider mehrfach gehen. Freundlichkeit war jetzt auch nicht so richtig mit dabei, also hier arbeiten keine Servicekräfte die ihren Job besonders lieben, behaupte ich mal. Null Sterne. Wirklich enttäuschend war aber vor allem das Essen, das allerhöchstens Kantinen-Niveau hatte. Beilagensalat = drei Blätter Eisberg, eine viertel Tomate, eine Scheibe Gurke, überschüttet mit fertigen Dressing. Frittierte Calamares = totales Gummi, nicht durchbeißbar, überhaupt nicht knusprig. Gemüse als Beilage = TK Kaisergemüse, was mit griechischer Küche wirklich NICHTS zu tun hat! Zsaziki aus dem großen Metro Eimer. In der Moussaka waren Auberginen kaum auffindbar. Alles lieblos angerichtet. Ich habe hier Rezensionen mit Fotos gesehen, auf denen zumindest ein paar Kräuter über die Teller gestreut waren fürs Aug, so etwas gab es bei uns bei keinem der Gerichte. Eine Katastrophe! Ich muss anmerken, dass die günstigsten Preise mir im Vorfeld eine Warnung hätten sein müssen, denn bei dieser Top Lage muss bei 14-19 Euro pro Gericht die Qualität zwangsläufig leiden. Aber so etwas hatte ich nicht erwartet. Ich kann dieses Restaurant definitiv nicht empfehlen.

I went there with my son after visiting Villa Hügel! The food is very tasty and the service is good too! At the beginning we waited a little longer for our drinks! After visiting Villa Hügel, I can highly recommend this restaurant!

You can already smell the scent of freshly grilled delicacies outside. We were lucky to get a place for two at the weekend, so reserve early. The service is very quick and friendly. Just try the memory card. Unfortunately we were too hungry to take photos of the food, but the restaurant is right next to the train station.

We wanted to eat there on Thursdays at 8 p.m. and would be sent home because the kitchen was already closed. The time before, the restaurant was simply closed, even though we had reserved online (with confirmation). There was nowhere on the internet that the restaurant was closed that day. We don't go there anymore.

Very nice panoramic view of Lake Baldeney. Prices are okay, my husband was impressed by the tenderness of the meat, which is prepared on the charcoal grill. Parking is available, although not excessive. Ambience clean, but could be modernized here and there. There is currently no changing table, but a new one is coming.

Located above the Baldeneysee on the Essen Hügel S-Bahn, the outside tables offer a beautiful view of the Baldeneysee. Traditional menu and pleasant atmosphere. Visible barbecue area and separate common room if necessary.

I don't have to go to Baldeneysee for the money, fries with liver and a little bit of salad, and non-alcoholic wheat instead of normal, which would be claimed "is normal or"🙈😔😤

Wir waren die letzten Jahre vor Eigentümerwechsel oft und gerne im Hügoloss. Als wir im Januar nun an einem Mittwochnachmittag hier ankamen, machte das Restaurant einen geschlossenen Eindruck, kein Auto auf dem Parkplatz, kein Hinweis darauf, dass es geöffnet hat (eine einfache Kreidetafel an der Treppe unten würde reichen), die Türen oben im Eingangsbereich waren sämtlich geschlossen. Wir haben es trotzdem gewagt und waren während unseres Aufenthaltes die einzigen Gäste in dem riesigen Restaurant!! Bei Betreten des Lokals konnte sich das herumstehende Personal gerade mal ein missmutiges "Hallo" entlocken. Wir suchten uns selber einen Tisch. Was uns sofort optisch im Vergleich zu früher auffiel, war die Kantinenatmosphäre von nackten Holztischen ohne Tischdecke oder anderweitige Eindeckung. Das Essen war soweit gut und reichlich (dafür habe ich die zwei von fünf Punkten vergeben), aber recht lieblos auf dem Teller angerichtet. Pommes und Fleisch eben. Eine kleine Salatgarnitur auf dem Teller würde für's Auge etwas her machen. Insgesamt wurde im Vergleich zu früher vieles eingespart, von den Tischdecken über die Oliven im Vorweg-Salat angefangen bis hin zum Begrüßungsschnaps. Von früher waren wir ein gutgelauntes, engagiertes und aufmerksames Serviceteam gewöhnt, das schon mal den ein oder anderen lockeren Spruch auf den Lippen hatte. Man kannte sich. Nun sieht man in brummelige, mißmutige Gesichter. Es wurde nicht gefragt, ob man noch ein zweites Getränk oder ein Dessert haben möchte, gerade mal ein "Hat es geschmeckt?" hat sich der Chef abringen können. Die beanstandeten Toiletten haben wir nicht aufgesucht, werden das aber bei Gelegenheit noch einmal testen. Wenn der Service weiter so mit den Gästen agiert, gebe ich dem ganzen Lokal nicht zwei Saisons bis es an die Wand gefahren sein wird, was schade wäre um ein in die Jahre gekommenes, ehemals erstklassiges Restaurant in bester Lage und mit Top-Aussicht auf den Baldeneysee.

Given another chance, Restaurant cold and empty, we didn't order olives for a week because of the supplier. Drinks on the table without a tablecloth and without a beer mat. When we ordered a fish platter for 52 euros, can we use something else instead of the calamari, no, not possible. Served on a cold plate without a warming plate. So eat and pay faster. Oh well, the restaurant also saves itself on a welcome or closing ouzo. So the restaurant should be renamed a rest house, there is no trace of hospitality here. It's a shame what has become of a really great restaurant. 02/02/2024

I came to eat here today on the recommendation of colleagues. Everything was fresh and perfectly prepared. The portions would be generous for the price with such a great view. Supper location. Ein fantastisches Erlebnis! Das griechische Restaurant hat meine Erwartungen übertroffen. Das Ambiente war einladend und gemütlich. Das Essen war köstlich - frische Zutaten und authentische Aromen, die mich direkt nach Griechenland zurückversetzt haben. Der Service war hervorragend, das Personal war freundlich, aufmerksam und kenntnisreich über die Gerichte. Absolut empfehlenswert für jeden, der die griechische Küche liebt. Wir haben dem HÜGOLOSS seit vielen Jahren die Treue gehalten - auch während der CORONA Pandemie sind wir mit FFP2 Masken gekommen. Damals war noch Ioannis Kokkinidis der Chef. Wichtig waren für uns der ganzjährige Holzkohle Grill , der Panorama Blick auf den Baldeney See und die gute Erreichbarkeit ( S-Bahn Haltestelle und kostenlose Parkplätze). Aber gestern Freitag 17.11. war wohl unser letztes Treffen dort. Im Restaurant war es kalt. Wir mussten die Jacken und den Schal anbehalten. Es zog durch die Schiebetüren zum See hin. Es gab keinen kostenlosen Ouzo mehr zum Abschluss. Die Toiletten wurden wohl im Ansatz renoviert. Aber sind nicht fertiggestellt worden. Außerdem gab es schon beim Empfang "eine unerfreuliche Begrüßung nach dem Motto: 'Wir sind voll! Obwohl ich schon lange vorher den Tisch reserviert hatte.'. Hätte ich nur für mich einen Tisch reserviert gehabt, hätte ich mich auf dem Absatz umgedreht und wäre wieder gegangen ! Aber meine Gäste kamen aus Bonn, Düsseldorf und Neuss. Fazit: Wir werden uns von nun an woanders treffen >> z.B im Restaurant HÜLSMANNSHOF, Lehnsgrund 14 A, 45149 Essen >> auf der Margarethenhöhe. Sehr gute saisonale Speisekarte, gute Autobahn-Anbindung, viele kostenlose Parkplätze, toller Service und historisches Fachwerkhaus. Selber testen kommt am besten !

Das Essen hier ist super ohne Beanstandung 👌 Ebenso wie der Ausblick auf den Baldeney See, der ist einmalig und allein einen Besuch wert 🙏😌 Service auch sehr aufmerksam und schnell 😎 Seit einiger Zeit leidet aber der Zustand des Restaurants.. leider ist der wunderschöne Treppenaufgang gesperrt. Beim runter und hoch spazieren hat man sich dort immer an Griechenland erinnert gefühlt. 🌞 Ebenso fallen einige Stellen im Innenraum und auf der Terrasse auf, welche liebe bedürfen. In den Toiletten steht bereits Material zur Renovierung, wir hoffen das Beste 🙏😉 die letzten Jahre waren ja auch für alle nicht einfach ☝️

Der Ladenbesitzer , Betreiber what ever : keinen Cent wert ! Unprofessionel, begrüßt nichtmal, redet abwertend. Eine „null Bock Einstellung“ - „alles egal irgendwie“. Wir haben eine Taufe in den Räumlichkeiten feiern wollen und haben uns für diese Lokalität entschieden. Wir waren mit 70 Personen vor Ort. Was soll ich Euch sagen?! Wir haben im hinteren Bereich einen abgetrennten „Gartenlaube“ ähnlichen Bereich erhalten, der ziemlich kalt war. Es war stark am regnen, dieser wurde in keinster Weise abgedichtet. Es war kaum auszuhalten. Wir wollten das nicht kritisieren, allerdings wollten wir vom Geschäftsführer wissen, wie sowas passieren kann. Es war so lieblos. Dreckig, kalt. Es sollte für uns ein schöner Tag werden. Der allerdings nicht genießbar war. Es gibt schlimmeres, um Gottes Willen. Sowas ist für uns eigentlich nicht der Rede Wert, es kann passieren. Wir sind alles nur Menschen. Wir wollten nur hören, wie seine Haltung dazu ist. Der Geschäftsführer hat folgendes dazu gesagt : „Meine Laufkundschaft ist uns wichtiger als ihr, was wollt ihr“. Diesen Satz verstehe ich nicht so ganz. Ich mein, so spricht kein Professioneller Unternehmer. Abwertende Haltung.Er hat sich angegriffen gefühlt. Ein erwachsener Mann, der keine Einsicht zeigt und stattdessen solch eine abwertende Aussage von sich gibt. Fremdschämend ! Das Essen enttäuschend zudem auch. Was nicht das Hauptproblem darstellte. Die tolle Aussicht rettet diesen Laden auch nicht.

Für Essen, Aussicht und auch den Kellner 5 von 5 Sternen 👍 Aber an den stämmigen Herrn mit Bart im Eingangsbereich - der Empfang könnte etwas herzlicher sein. Nicht böse gemeint, einfach nur als konstruktive Kritik. Habe mich nicht sonderlich willkommen gefühlt.

Das Essen war so Frisch und lecker, das personal war sehr freundlich.. Das interblisimo war wunderschön die aussicht traumhaft..

Der Besuch war leider sehr ernüchternd. Von der Terasse hat man einen schönen Ausblick. Das Lokal war nur an 3 Tischen belegt. Die Ansprache durch das Personal teils sehr distanzlos. Erst fragte ich, ob freie Platzwahl sei, dies wurde bejaht, dann sagte ein anderer Mitarbeiter, die offene Terasse sei geschlossen, bot uns einen anderen Tisch an, dieser war vollgestellt mit benutztem Gläsern und Geschirr. Wir entschieden uns dann für einen anderen Platz. Die Ausgabe der Speisekarte und das Abwischen des gewählten ebenfalls dreckigen Tisches erfolgte dann ganz schnell, dies war dann auch der vollständige Service. Nach fast 15 Minuten Warten um unsere Getränkebestellung aufzugeben, kam der Kellner beim Anrichten einer der anderen 3 Tische an uns vorbei und sagte, er käme gleich. Das Essen wurde dort mit insgesamt 3 Bedienungen hingebracht, hiervon konnte sich anscheinund auch niemand unsere Bestellung annehmen. Es erfolgte weiteres Warten. Schliesslich sind wir aufgestanden und gegangen. Dies ist nicht einmal aufgefallen.

Sehr sehr lecker, sehr netter service. Der süße shaban war sehr hilfsbereit. Kann ich sehr gerne weiterempfehlen. Der Ausblick ist auch 1 a.

Der gegrillte Oktopus zur Vorspeise ist ein Gedicht. Tolle Lage, tolles Lokal, sehr leckeres Essen. Sehr freundlicher, aufmerksamer Service, der auch für einen netten Smalltalk Zeit hat.

Es war schönes Wetter und wir konnten draußen sitzen und die Aussicht genießen. Die Bedienung war schnell und das Essen lecker. Wir haben allerdings eine nicht bestellte Soße erhalten und auf einem Gericht war die Beilage etwas wenig. Dies haben wir angesprochen und haben dann einen Nachschlag bekommen.

Bedienung unfreundlich, keier hat gefragt, ob es geschmeckt hat. Beim abräumen kam nur die Frage "Fertig" ? Mein Gyros war mit Knorpel durchzogen ? Wahrscheinlich billig Eingekauft. Auf der Damentoilette keine Möglichkeit die Hände abzutrocknen, weder Papier Handtücher noch ein Handfön ! Es gibt aber auch was positives, wenn man am Fenster sitzt. Der tolle Blick auf den Baldeneysee.
