Restaurant Helena in Quedlinburg

We ate in the restaurant again as tourists after New Year's Eve 2023. The portions are smaller and carelessly prepared. Not even a piece of tomato or a slice of cucumber on the plate. Otherwise there was always a small salad with it. For a souflaki with just rice and zatziki, €19.50 is quite steep. When we asked, we were only told that there was no longer any salad. We paid almost 50 euros for gyros and souflaki with a drink each. Very overpriced compared to other restaurants and we will not visit again

We were in Quedlinburg for a weekend and happened to drop by on a Friday evening and got a nice place. We went straight back today on Sunday after a visit to the Christmas market. We haven't been greeted so warmly in a long time. We also got a very nice table. If I could give more than 5 stars I would give even more. Keep it up, you're great.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Four of us ate here. We had reserved a table in advance. The ambience of the restaurant is really nice and inviting. The food was really really very tasty. The gyro was excellent, as was the souvlaki or pork steak. I haven't eaten so well at a Greek restaurant for a long time. PS: Beforehand there was an ouzo for everyone 😉

The atmosphere in the restaurant is nice and familiar. The service is friendly. Unfortunately olives were extremely salty. That wasn't good for the stomach.

As many here have already written before me, there is actually no longer a salad as a starter. There weren't even any greens on the main course. (Lettuce leaf, cucumber or tomato as you know it) That's a real shame. I had ordered gyros, and it was really carelessly prepared, the fries were just on top of the tzatziki, and the gyros weren't really hot either! So nice is something different. Service was present at the beginning but later you had to go to the staff yourself and ask for the bill because no one came. The ambience was kept quite dark, but that was quite nice. What should also be mentioned is that the toilets are very narrow! Really narrow! They can't do anything about that, I know, but sometimes this information is helpful for one or the other

We got a table straight away without a reservation. This restaurant has a very nice ambience, both outside and inside. Our food came very, very quickly. The food was carelessly slapped onto the plate. For that price you can at least ask for a lettuce leaf or a piece of tomato. After all, the eye eats too. The fries were extremely salty and the gyro was very gristly. Criticism wasn't really accepted. We will not recommend this restaurant.

The gratinated chili peppers with garlic were oversalted, garlic potatoes were not on offer, and there was no salad plate. In terms of taste, it tasted like ready-made sauce, which was a shame because it really was a great atmosphere.

Pretty little restaurant, centrally located. Friendly staff. It wasn't that crowded at lunchtime and the food came in the usual time. Unfortunately and surprisingly, there was no salad and therefore nothing fresh on the plate (I've never experienced that at a Greek restaurant) and No ouzo either (it's not important to me personally, but that's just the way we know it). The food itself was good average, with 2 drinks 55 euros. Together, more like: well...

Great restaurant, delicious food

We were looking forward to visiting the restaurant with 6 people. We had something to celebrate. Sitting outside on a Sunday evening in the summer was great. When ordering I asked a few questions about the sauce and the answers were strange but good. Then I was the only one who got the food. I had chosen 2 starters as my main course. Then I started so that it wouldn't get cold. The feta cheese was breaded, unfortunately cold inside and warm on the outside. The grilled zucchini was very bitter. I complained about this. The waiter didn't understand me. Another asked what was wrong with it and accepted it. I ordered a baked potato. The others got their food one by one. Children were partly satisfied, adults partly too. I got the potato and unfortunately it was borderline raw. My brother-in-law then ate them. Overall mediocre food in an atmosphere that could be better.

The amount of food you get has decreased. Prices have become higher. Absolutely overpriced. “Platon” has a better offer with better prices.

We were there last night, won't be coming back. It's bad if your food doesn't look reasonable, very, very dark for a restaurant. But it was great that the dog was allowed and also got its portion of water.

We were at Helena with a group of nine people and everyone was very happy with their food. The selection of vegetarian dishes and starters is limited and could offer more variety. The service was very attentive and extremely friendly. The orders were served quickly and at the same time. The restaurant seems a bit cramped and could be lit a bit brighter. Overall it was a pleasant evening and the restaurant is recommended. Like most restaurants in Quendlinburg, the price is well above the normal price range of comparable Greek restaurants.

We agree with many people regarding food that is overpriced. There is no longer a salad as a starter, which is standard in every other Greek restaurant. Unfortunately, this was also our last visit there (although we were looking forward to it, based on previous positive experiences), as the service was unfriendly and the food was too salty. Too bad!

The food was served quickly, but very overpriced. Normally every Greek restaurant comes with a salad, but this was not served. 18.50 € for a slice of chicken and a mini portion of fries, plus a tablespoon of rice... I can't recommend it... unfriendly service. Better run a few meters further.

The food was very good, gyros and my skewer were delicious and the meat was very juicy. The garlic bread with tzatziki was exactly how I liked it. 👍

We called and got a table straight away despite the holiday. The restaurant is lovingly furnished, the service is very attentive and friendly. Definitely recommended!

Unfortunately, no card payment is possible in a world where we are writing the 21st century and cash payments will soon be “made easier” through card payments. A very narrow, seemingly makeshift place where people with perhaps a little more space also “need more room to sit”. The service was very quick and there was also a time limit for placing. Unfortunately not again even though we were customers there for years.

We were there for dinner at the beginning of August. Unfortunately, we were forgotten and when we asked, the boss was very unfriendly to us. It would just take a while because there was so much going on. We shouldn't have done that to us. Everyone who came after us had finished their food when ours came. Ours The people sitting next to us were already asking "what we had ordered" because it was taking so long. We hadn't ordered anything special. The boss didn't apologize, but rather became loud and portrayed us as impatient. Unfortunately, the trouble was compounded by bad food. Small portions without salad. The liver wasn't done. The ouzo extended with water. We won't go there again!!!

Unfortunately you can't pay by card there yet. A hint would be good. The waiter didn't know, wanted to ask and forgot. The food and wine were very good and there was little waiting despite there being a lot of guests.

Firstly it is located at a cosy place & rather quiet. Secondly the lady owner is so sweet & helpful. They even have an English speaking waiter, so it's so easy to order & ask, even an English menu. We ordered lamb with pikant sauce, so yummy & lamb fillet with french fries. It's totally recommended! Definitely highly recommended! Price wise, it's a little costly, but it's worthy!

A great restaurant with a very friendly team. The four of us came here spontaneously and immediately felt at home. Anyone who knows please and thank you will immediately notice that they are welcome. The portions are super tasty and absolutely sufficient! There was an ouzo with the first round of drinks and a second when paying. If we come to Quedlinburg again, we will definitely go to the Helena tavern!

Friendly staff and very tasty food

After a while we went to this Greek place again, which was actually always our favorite Greek place. We were actually just disappointed from the first minute. Drinks were stale and non-carbonated, gyros which now cost €22 😳 and no salad included. The children's menu was also completely exorbitant in terms of prices. 5 nuggets for €9.50 and 4 fish fingers for €9 .50€. Our starters were completely forgotten but were included on the bill. It wasn't full for a Friday evening. Previously, you couldn't even get a table for two people on a Friday evening.

Expensive (from around €20 per dish) and definitely NOT worth it! Not a well-trained service that clears the plates even though others are still eating, carelessly arranged plates and the meat, fries and rice are quite bland. No card payment possible…!

Ate there for the first time on our holiday and the food was good so you can't complain, but the people are very small for the prices. In addition, our food was forgotten. After almost an hour we became aware of it and saw that we were finally getting our food. Unfortunately there was nothing except a “sorry”. Perhaps a drink could have been taken off the bill as a courtesy.

Das Restaurant wirkt sehr einladend und lässt auf eine gemütliche Einkehr hoffen. Wir hatten eine telefonische Reservierung für 6 Personen zu 18.00 Uhr, um uns in unserem Kurzulaub mit ehemaligen Schulfreunden zu treffen. Bestellungen wurden zügig entgegengenommen und sowohl Getränke als auch die einzelnen Speisen zügig serviert. Das Essen war schmackhaft, allerdings haben wir Beilagen vermisst. Unmittelbar nach dem Essen und der Bestellung der 2. Getränkerunde wurden wir plötzlich aufgefordert, den Tisch zu räumen und im Freien Platz zu nehmen, da neue Gäste kämen. Wir waren so perplex, dass wir der Aufforderung gefolgt sind. Draußen regnete es in Strömen, so dass die Schirme zum Schutz nicht ausreichten. Der Abend war für uns "gelaufen". Vom Personal keinerlei Entschudigung.

I used to enjoy eating here but yesterday was definitely my last visit there. I understand that the catering industry is struggling with various problems and that prices have increased. But slapping the food onto the plate so carelessly is very disrespectful to the paying customer. I was also slightly worried that my husband wouldn't be full. So much more expensive and so much less on the plate, so with all the love (no more salad in advance, OK - but you don't immediately become impoverished if two three cucumbers and/or tomatoes decorate the plate a bit). There's nothing bad to say about the staff, everyone was friendly and we didn't have to wait long. Overall very disappointing. Too bad

Dafür waren unansehnliche Zwiebeln Scheiben drauf . Das Essen war wie aus dem Imbiss . Keine Schönheit .Preis-Leistungs- Verhältnise war Null . Wir Haben für das Essen 18,50€ bezahlt , viel zu Teuer. Nir Bargeld möglich???? Mit ein Döner wären wir besser verfahren um hätten über 10€ gespart!

We dropped by at 9 PM for a beer. AFTER our beers got served, they informed us they only accept cash. My travel companion had to then use 25 min to go back and forth from our hotel to collect cash in order to pay while his beer got stale. We could also use an ATM in the city center with a transaction fee of 5 € + your own banks fee + conversion rate. By the time my travelcompanion was back it was 21:50 and they close at 22:00 and the place was almost empry, so we just left the beers and walked away. I wish they would tell you up front when they only accept cash so you can avoid places like this. Who doesn't accept card in 2024 anyway? Where I am from we associate "cash only" with suspicious activities like money laundry, tax evasion, etc.

We ate there as a couple, 2 meals (without a starter) and 2 cokes for an incredible €50. The menu was extensive, prices were already on the upper level. Portions kept pretty small, even for women. No salad beforehand, as is usually the case in Greeks. I can't understand the many good reviews from friends. Price-performance ratio is not right here at all. Once and never again!

We were there on a Sunday lunchtime. Delicious food. Gyros top and juicy! Friendly service. Recommended

The ambience was very good. Highly recommended for a date. Personally, I love tomato rice at a Greek restaurant. Since I was looking forward to it, I was sad that there wasn't any. Tzatziki was all! 7pm... I don't want to comment any further! There was also no salad before the main course, I'm probably too spoiled here too. Since I had to go to the service to order drinks and ask the service to clear away, I have to say that I'm used to something different. The meat was soft, seasoned, but for me it was standard Greek food without any good decoration on the plate. Unfortunately, card payment is not possible here, which I don't think is appropriate.

If you want to eat delicious food in Quedlinburg, the Helena restaurant is the perfect place for you. We always like to come back there when we're on vacation. The staff is very nice and accommodating. The food tastes wonderful. Thanks to the entire team, we'll be happy to come back.

We were there on July 1st, 2024 and had also booked a table, which all went very well. Very friendly and quick service and there was also a nice little present for my birthday, which I was very happy about. I will be happy to come back when we visit my family and want to spend a nice evening with warm, friendly service and great, delicious 😋 food. We were looking for a restaurant in Quedlinburg on Saturday evening and ended up in this Greek restaurant shortly after eight o'clock. We decided on the Gyros and the Suzukia and ordered that too. The food arrived surprisingly quickly, within about 10 minutes, which was very surprising at first. The Suzukia were very good, the butter rice and the fries were wonderfully crispy. However, 90% of the gyro was not enjoyable, the gyro was not completely cooked through, from a delicate pink color to even clearly raw in one corner. After we were asked if everything was OK and we had complained about the gyros in question, we were only told that gyros had been ordered over 100 times today and everything was fine. Quote “the gyros is always like that here”. Things got even worse after the waitress asked us if we would prefer a kebab. If we had wanted to buy a kebab for €18.50, we wouldn't have visited a Greek restaurant. It's definitely not the first time we've been to a Greek restaurant, see previous reviews I've written, I've never experienced anything so blatant and cheeky before. It may be that we were one of the last visitors to the restaurant and the kitchen certainly wanted to call it a day, but a good restaurateur would have apologized to his guests, perhaps offered an alternative offer or waived the price, but here there was nothing other than a stupid comment . This is also the reason why I cannot and definitely will not recommend this restaurant. Mistakes can happen, but acting so ignorantly and making such comments doesn't speak for this restaurant. I wish all visitors to these restaurants a positive experience and as a tip, don't come too late, then it could happen that the food is on the table very quickly, but the quality suffers.

The price-performance ratio is not good because the portions are very small for the high price and we didn't feel very comfortable in terms of hospitality either. And the toilets were clean but there was no toilet paper or soap. So we really like eating Greek but not there again.

Ordered takeaway on site. According to the internet there is probably a children's menu, but I couldn't be shown a menu on site. In the previous Greek restaurants I've been to, a side salad was automatically served with the meal, but not here, which somewhat destroys the price-performance ratio. On the children's plate (paper plate wrapped with aluminum foil) there was salad with vinegar and oil dressing on it, but the heat of the food on the same plate caused it to collapse and the dressing soggy the fries.

A very small, rustic restaurant, you can dine and drink outside and inside. Staff friendly, food is good, but the price-performance ratio is like upscale, very expensive.

We came here spontaneously and got 2 seats outside. Unfortunately we were quite disappointed. The food itself was good (gyros and gyros gratinated). However, the portion sizes for a Greek restaurant were not as big as you would expect. There was also no salad or bread beforehand, which was a bit of a shame. The reception was very friendly and the table allocation was pleasant, despite no reservation. The service was very attentive and drinks were brought quickly. The same applied to the food, which was a bit irritating. Unfortunately the starters seemed warmed and the garlic bread was from the previous day to say the least. However, the main courses tasted as expected and very good.

Over priced and poor quality food . Few Greek items- the rest was typical German crap food . Biggest disappointment was the stuffed grape leaves drowned in an orange cheese sauce casserole . Thin soggy stuffed grape leaves indiscernible from the soupy mess . Their soup is also a disappointment: Tiny tasteless tea cup size watery mess. Waiter was hard to catch at times when our order was wrong . Felt deliberately ignored . €100 for two people - very regrettable experience. Ordered bottle of sparkling water and given instead a reusable generic bottle of tap water with Co2 added for €6.50 ?!

Everything was great except for the fried fly on our garlic bread. We were immediately brought new bread, that can happen. 😅 The kitchen and service are fast and we got a table for 3 people without a reservation. Unfortunately we had something to do with the wasps outside, which also flew into our drinks. But the food was great and the tzatziki was also really good. Thank you for the friendly welcome and the dedicated staff.

Before we planned our short vacation in Quedlinburg, I looked at the reviews. I can't understand the older reviews today. The staff was very friendly and the food was excellent. We had a wonderful time.

I have rarely eaten such bad Greek food. Small portions for a lot of money. We couldn't tolerate it either, my husband and I had diarrhea straight away afterwards. Not recommended.

I can't understand these great reviews. I had ordered a meat plate and asked that I be served NO fries, NO rice and that I wanted a fresh salad WITHOUT any other ingredients other than olive oil. What did I get? Meat plate WITH fries, rice and salad with honey. I didn't taste the honey until I tried the salad. I expressed my disappointment to the waitress and she wanted to redo everything. Such nonsense! I just wanted to leave. My son also found the food to be mediocre. In the end I was charged the full amount of 50 euros (they only gave me 3 euros). So never again and I don't recommend it to anyone. It's their job to listen carefully to what the customer wants to eat!

That's how it should be. Very good Greek cuisine, as you would expect. The gyro is not dry, but juicy without being greasy. Really very nice service. Even though it was full, people remained very attentive and relaxed. Went there twice. And, unfortunately, you can hardly find this service in Quedlinburg, you don't have to pay in cash.

2 years ago the portions were slightly larger and cheaper than today. Well, everything will be expensive. But less for more money. The quality has also become significantly worse. I really messed up my stomach there today. Never again Helena.🥴

After taking the order the waiter comes to tell me that I have to pay in cash so I go to the next cash machine for 400 hundred meters. Than the order was a lamb shin but I've got a pig one. Than we order a swet wine and get a cheap red semi dry one. Than the other main dish was a pork covered with feta cheese but we have got a gauda cheese. It was realy one of the bad restaurant I ever been. I tild the owner and he didnt react at all for anything. Don't come
