The Heimgarten restaurant in Munich is located diagonally across the street from the hotel where we checked into our August vacation. We came here several times during the week for drinks and ate here three times because we enjoyed it so much. This is a Croatian restaurant run by a very nice man with whom we had a pleasant chat. In front of the restaurant's entrance, there's a small, cozy beer garden, which was really busy when the weather was nice. The restaurant itself is a bit smaller, but nicely and comfortably furnished. And most importantly: The food is simply amazing! So incredibly delicious, and the portions are generously sized. Special requests are no problem at all, such as adding some feta cheese sauce to a dish that doesn't actually have it. The meal also comes with a side salad, and you get a nightcap on the house afterward, which isn't something you can take for granted these days. We were truly impressed with the Heimgarten and can definitely recommend the restaurant.

Excellent. Informal. Recommended. The menu is accompanied by photos (for those who don't speak German). We had a single dish with grilled liver slices, rice, vegetables, noodle soup, a plate of grilled vegetables with feta, and sautéed potatoes. The liver (for those who like it) was top notch.

An absolute insider tip in Munich! The Heimgarten restaurant immediately captivated me with its cozy, almost nostalgic ambiance – lovingly decorated, with small details that make you feel welcome. The decor is charmingly traditional, but not old-fashioned – simply a place to feel good. For the food: We had a fresh, mixed salad for starters, followed by two versions of the minced steak – one filled with feta cheese. Both were excellently seasoned and juicy. They were served with crispy fries, spicy Djuvec rice, and wonderfully grilled vegetables. The portions are large, but so delicious that nothing was left over! A freshly tapped Ayinger beer rounded off the meal perfectly – and as a little treat, we were given a typical Dalmatian schnapps on the house (sorry, I can't remember the name – but it was delicious!). The service was friendly, attentive, and warm—exactly the kind of hospitality you want when you're a guest in a city. Price-performance ratio: absolutely top-notch. A place I'd happily recommend! I was in Munich for a week—and this evening at Heimgarten was a real highlight. Whether you're a tourist or a local, this is the place for you.

Chance dictated that I stop at this restaurant. I must say the service was excellent. The food was good and plentiful, and the wait was short. At the end of the meal, we received a complimentary house digestif. I recommend it 🙂

We visited the Heimgarten restaurant and were very satisfied. The food was excellent and well prepared. The service was very friendly and attentive. Overall, a pleasant visit that reminded us of vacations in Croatia. We would be happy to return.

The food and atmosphere was great. We were staying at the hotel nearby and went there for dinner. We shared the Croatia platter that was 40 euros for 2 people. It is a very abundant serving. The service was ok it was because there was only one server for most tables.

We were here for dinner last night. The portions were large and filling, the service was attentive, and the food was freshly prepared. The salad was fresh and crisp... The prices are reasonable. The place was packed. There were a lot of people eating. The ambiance isn't quite my taste; it needs some renovation, but the tables were very clean.

I read reviews from a customer who recommended this place and he was right. Had dinner 2 nights. Everything was excellent.

I have to say, it's a real insider tip for us. The food was delicious and freshly prepared. We ate here two days in a row and were thrilled.

It's best to make a reservation or we'll get lucky. A bit inconspicuous from the outside, but nicely furnished and decorated in a Mediterranean style inside. Very friendly and courteous staff. We had the grill plate and the grilled liver. Both were super tasty and the meat was very tender. The fries were crispy and well seasoned. We can highly recommend it.

When we were visiting Munich, we made a reservation there at short notice. And also got a table for two for Sunday evening (9.2.25). Friendly service and very tasty food. We had the meal (various meat with fries and rice) for two people, which came with a side salad. It was actually enough that we couldn't finish it all. It was delicious. Rustic but cozy atmosphere by candlelight. Only the table was a little small for the dishes we chose. It was very good that the plates came on a hot stone, and later the plate with the food was placed on it - so that nothing gets cold. If we are in Munich again, we would love to come and eat with you.

A great time spent in this very nice little restaurant, very friendly, we ate very well, the meat is really quality, the side dishes too, it's a very well served dish! For dessert, a simply excellent crepe, very well served! If you are in the hotel opposite and you don't know where to eat I highly recommend it! You will not be disappointed! Excellent time for two!

One of the best restaurants I have tried in Munich. The food is of excellent quality and at a good price. Meats are especially delicious. Without a doubt, we will return.

The dishes are very tasty and the staff is very friendly. Garlic and ajvar are served with the dishes. The guest room is small and familiar. You sit comfortably at tables for four along the walls on the left and right. Here you don't notice anything negative if the restaurant is busy. There is no shouting at you from staff or guests walking past, so you can really sit back, eat in peace and chat. There is also an outdoor area. The restaurant is always busy, probably because of the hotel opposite. If you want to eat at peak time, it may be worth making a reservation.

Great food, nice dessert, but the chocolate in the crepe needed a little more flavor or a different raw material. The coffee was very strong. When you get up from the table, pay attention to the lamp above you, I stepped on it.

Eine einfache Gaststätte mit einfacher Ausstattung. Kein Schischi oder Firlefanz. Man bekommt einfache und ehrliche kroatische Küche zu fairen Preisen. Die Portionsgrösse ist absolut ausreichend. Rumpsteak und Teller mit Spieß und Cevapcici und Beilagen. Kann man empfehlen.

Hanno sia spazi esterni che interni, e un ottima cucina, personale super gentile, eravamo un gruppo di oltre 40 persone e tutti sono rimasti contenti! Un po lunghi sui tempi ma siamo sempre entrati in tanti e quindi è giustificabile a quello! Consiglio

The kitchen is really very good. There is a separate room for a celebration. Friendly, attentive staff, you feel welcome. The ambience is not modern, but the food makes you forget the decor.

You must believe me this is TASTY food!! We came back EVERY night of our 3 night stay in Munich. On the first evening I had the lamb chops, beans with the most amazing bacon and the most wonderful fried potatoes we have ever had. So the second night ....I had it again! Tonight I had roast peppers stuffed with sheep's cheese. ....OMG fabulous! ....and you guessed it I asked for those fried potatoes again! Laid back family atmosphere and wonderful food, this restaurant is a must if you are in Munich.

Located just across our hotel in Munich, this place was a pleasant find, and we enjoyed eating here so much that we ate here twice during our 3 day stay in Munich. The dishes were flavorful and came in generous portions. There was a lot to choose from, but we enjoyed the lamb the most. You can also try the hausteller if you're unsure of what to eat. Prices were reasonable, and service was good. Place had a cozy, relaxed atmosphere, and dining was an enjoyable experience. Highly recommended!

Best restaurant in Germany to date! The highlight is, of course, the food! But the difference is the service! At the end, we spoke with the owner and learned a little about the history of this restaurant. Differentiated service, pleasant and cozy atmosphere and great options of dishes and drinks! It's worth checking out and repeating!!

It is a family restaurant, the owner and all the employees were really nice to us. The ambient is really cosy and comfortable. The food was simply amazing, i believe it is Croatian food but not sure. Certainly, the best restaurant I've been to in Munich.

Heimgarten has always been one of my favorite restaurants in Munich! I am sad that Anjelo and the Krolo family have now sold this establishment and are no longer part of its operation, but his retirement is well deserved. And the new staff seem very nice. I never visit Munich without a meal at Heimgarten!

The food is really very tasteful. The map is sufficiently extensive. A table reservation makes sense and the prices are absolutely okay. We would love to come back and can absolutely recommend the Heimgarten.

Siamo stati a Monaco di Baviera x 3 notti in vacanza. Per la prima cena abbiamo optato per questo piccolo ristorante proprio davanti al nostro hotel Leonardo. Ci siamo trovati cosi bene che ci siamo tornati anche per le due cene successive. Abbiamo mangiato piatti diversi ogni sera e li abbiamo trovati tutti davvero ottimi. Non si paga il coperto, la birra lowenbau original ottima e sembra non scaldarsi mai, non abbiamo mai speso piu' di 50 euro x sera a coppia mangiando dei piatti abbondanti e completi di contorni inoltre ci hanno sempre offerto un loro digestivo della casa (loro sono di origini croate). Peccato abitare cosi lontani altrimenti ci torneremo tutte le settimane. Super consigliato.
