Gerberhaus in Ulm is an amazing restaurant. The food is delicious, lovely atmosphere and the staff is awesome. We ate there several times and enjoyed each meal. Highly recommend!

Very good food with Schwebisch specific Which is already an advantage as it is very crowded due to the small space.

We stopped in spontaneously and were lucky that the owner was able to offer us a table. We ordered a salad and a broth as starters. Both were fresh and delicious. For the main course, we were served a curry and ox cheeks. It tasted fantastic, just like "mother's." Very friendly service, a lovely, cozy restaurant. We highly recommend a visit.

Not sure if Gerberhaus would ever consider writing a cookbook, but if they do I would buy it in a heartbeat. Everything we ate was fresh, local, and delicious. Service was fantastic. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Just what you need after a cool autumn day. We also had the opportunity to get kaise spaetzel from the take out window, and this is the best in all of Bavaria, maybe even Germany unless you have a German mother who can cook. Gerberhaus is a real hidden gem, that can't be missed if you're within 100km.

Very inviting and cozy. You pay a little more, but you get authentic food and a comfortable atmosphere. I'd be happy to go back anytime!

I was here for dinner a few days ago. I had a good meal, and the location is very unique and beautiful. The waitress who served us wasn't very welcoming; a little more smile would have made me feel more at home.

The restaurant is very quaint, with some seating a bit cramped. The service is excellent; the waitress remembers everything without writing anything down. The food is simply fantastic and one of our top recommendations for Ulm. And our dog is welcome to join us. We'd be happy to come back.

Excellent pork fillet with creamed chanterelle mushrooms and spaetzle—a poem! Accompanied by excellent Pinot Blanc and Kaiserschmarren (sweet pancakes) for dessert. The schnapps and espresso were also wonderful.

A fantastic restaurant with wonderful service and a beautiful location in Ulm's old town. The drinks and food came very quickly; there was no long wait. The food was delicious, with generous portions to fill you up.

Very nice ambiance, but very loud because of the water... The service was all excellent! However, we were disappointed with the food. It was very expensive for the small portions, and not to mention the truffle fries. You could taste everything in the fries except the truffles, and to charge such a high price for that is a disgrace. I wouldn't go there again. Find another restaurant!

Despite a reservation for 10 people, we were assigned a table that was actually only suitable for 8. We had to organize an extra chair ourselves and squeeze another person onto the bench, making it a tight squeeze during the meal. The food tasted truly excellent – ​​I had the onion roast beef – but the portion was too small. The side dishes (spätzle) in particular were very limited. For the rather high price, I would have expected to be full. The ambience is nice and inviting, but the noise level in the restaurant was so high that it was almost impossible to have a conversation beyond the person sitting next to you. Conclusion: Very tasty food, but too limited in size for the price. The atmosphere was generally pleasant, but unfortunately much too loud. Overall, the value for money could be improved.

Great traditional restaurant with a cozy atmosphere. Very quaint and with a great view of the river next door. Even though it was busy, the food came quickly. Even if you pay a little more, it's definitely worth it. The roast beef with onions was amazing. Highly recommended. What we didn't like at all, however, was the older lady behind the counter who loudly bossed our waitress around and almost insulted her about many things. That's just unacceptable, no matter what industry you work in. We found it unprofessional. A shame. You should always treat employees and colleagues with respect. We would have liked to give it more stars because everything else was perfect.

Superbly located on Fischerinsel in Ulm

The food here is absolutely fantastic! I can only praise the chocolate soufflé highly; it's truly amazing! The same goes for the other dishes featured here: the cream of asparagus soup and the pike-perch fillet. The pike-perch fillet could have had a bit more vegetables and a bit less rice, but all in all, I was super satisfied; the fish itself was fantastic! The prices are on the higher side, but the experience was definitely worth it, and the restaurant is definitely worth a visit. A lovely, quaint place that offers a cozy get-together with good food and a great atmosphere! :)

Difficult. Actually a very nice and quaint restaurant in the heart of the old town. But the food 👀 Starting with fried potatoes, which I can make better at home, and lentils that were way too sour. The Wiener schnitzel was actually quite good, but was completely ruined by the fried potatoes. The worst part, however, was the obviously not homemade sauce that came with the tough ox cheeks. For a restaurant that charges between €25 and €32 for a dish, that's unacceptable. I'd heard a lot of good things, and maybe we were having a bad day, but then they should have just stayed closed. Disastrous

It's your own fault if you go to a restaurant recommended in every tourist guide. The location is good, near the old city wall with the Danube beyond. It's a little surprising when the original Swabian roast beef with onions and spaetzle (is that the original Swabian way of garnishing the spaetzle with a quarter of a tomato and cress?) arrives on your table after 5.5 minutes. Simply tourist food for those willing to pay. There's nothing more to say.

I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. The foods is very good and service Is efficient.

CAUTION!! The store is an absolute scam!! The four of us wanted to order two Gerber plates, the waitress then said “then I’ll just bring you four small ones, then you don’t have to share”. We assumed that in the end we would only have to pay half, but no, instead of €29.90 per Gerber plate (there would have been two for a total of €59.80), we still had to pay €25.90 for all four, so a total of €103.60 (almost DOUBLE!!!!!), absolute scam... they should have at least explained it to us. We are really very disappointed and find it unbelievable that they want to exclude four students like this... NEVER AGAIN!!!

Some guests' food came when the others had already finished. Also, some dishes were very tough. Definitely not worth the money, the good reviews are incomprehensible.

Unfortunately, it was a disappointment for us. At over €130 for four people, we expected more than a tough roast beef with onions and "Kässpätzle," which bore absolutely no resemblance to the original dish – you shouldn't call cheese and cream sauce, or rather, mush, "Kässpätzle" and sell it for almost €18. The salad, on the other hand, was very good. The service was also professional and friendly. However, for premium prices, you should also expect commensurate food, which we didn't get that day, and we both agreed that we could have done better ourselves, and for a much lower price. A waste of money.

Easen Good, prices upscale, service ok, but unfortunately there were no more drinks at 9 an.m. Nobody came past the table anymore.

Unfortunately, the Maultaschen I ordered were a disappointment: warmed up, drowned in a dark sauce that killed the taste due to too much salt. Very carelessly prepared and too expensive for 3 pieces of Maultaschen. The point is for the soup of the day. However, the ambience and service are really nice. Overall, I wouldn't eat there again...

The heating was set so low that you didn't notice it. In addition, there was a constant draft of cool air, so you had to sit there in your winter coat and still feel cold. And that at midday. For food: waste of money.

Very positive experience. I was on a very restrictive medical diet during my visit and our waiter (kind, extremely* empathetic, friendly and assuring guy) had done everything to make sure I didn't leave the place hungry. He literally made my day and turned my Ulm visit from a rather stressful, uncertain journey into a peaceful trip. I went there for lunch and after understanding my very limiting dietary restrictions, he squeezed us into a fully-booked Saturday evening to help me, and even prepared "take-away" food for the next day. My personal experience is that such flexibility to adapt menu items and tolerance for deviation is very unusual for typical Bavarian restaurants in the service industry and this person took the initiative to make a clear difference. He indeed did. I am very thankful for that. Atmosphere and others are very self explanatory given the 4.5stars they averaged across the existing +1100 reviews but this special incident was my remark. I could not not share this with the community. If you are reading this, thank you once again sir!

We came across the Gerberhaus by chance while passing through with the family. It was the 4th weekend of Advent and totally full. Nevertheless, the three of us got a table that was actually only for two. But it was made possible straight away. The food was absolutely top class, all dishes were above average. We will definitely come back at our next stopover. Thank you and greetings in the kitchen. Really great

We wanted to celebrate our Christmas party in the Gerberhaus and made reservations for that too. We were then sent away on site because apparently there was no reservation to be found. Then we went to the Rössle in Grimmelfingen and were looked after wonderfully.

Great food and ambience. I felt immersed in Swabian culture and cuisine.

Eine Frechheit, ich habe gut 4 Tage vor dem Samstag, den 02.11.2024, einen Tisch für den besagten Samstag für 12:00 bestellt, expl. einen ruhigen, lauschigen, da ich mit meiner Bekannten ein ungestörtes Essen+ mit ggf. noch Nachtisch und ausgedehnte Gesprächen vorhatte..., um ca. 11:45 trafen wir ein, nahmen Platz und bereits kurz nach 13:00... gerade mal fertig gegessen, wurden wir aufgefordert zu zahlen (66EUR liegen gelassen in ca. 1 1/4h), da der Tisch wieder vergeben sei... um 13:15 verließen wir das Lokal, das allerletzte mal, dass ich dort war meinen Unmut tat ich auch noch mündlich kund! Eine absolute Frechheit Gäste so zu behandeln, normalerweise würde ich 0 Punkte vergeben, wenn ich es könnte...

The best Swabian restaurant in Ulm and the surrounding area. The Gerber plate is highly recommended - a combination of many of the house specialties. The homemade spaetzle is another reason to keep coming back. The service is very friendly and competent. The restaurant is very popular - it is advisable to reserve a few days in advance.

Wir bekamen mitten in der Woche den letzten freien Tisch in diesem urigen Gasthaus. Der sehr schön gestaltete Innenraum wirkt äußerst gemütlich, die Speisekarte ist vielfältig und bietet viele schmackhafte Gerichte, auch lokale, an. Das wegen einer Mandelunverträglichkeit nicht essbare Hauptgericht meiner Frau wurde anstandslos getauscht, wobei das Servicepersonal sehr freundlich war. Entschuldigte sich sogar, dass auf die Mandeln nicht auf der Speisekarte hingewiesen worden war ("Unser Fehler"). Man sollte aber unbedingt reservieren, um einen Platz zu bekommen, ansonsten könnte Ihnen ein schöner Aufenthalt entgehen.

However, I was really disappointed with the service. I asked for the wine list and received it. But to order the wine I had to wait a long time and my partner had to ask the waiter again. During the meal no one came to ask if everything was okay. I had to ask the next table for salt and pepper. The two service staff walked past us several times, as I said, we had the table right on the walkway. When we were finished, the plates weren't cleared away for a relatively long time. It was full, I give the staff credit for that. Still, we didn't feel particularly welcome. I would like to mention that I rarely complain about service staff when things are busy because I'm one of them and I know how stressful this job can be, especially when you're obviously understaffed. I hope this visit was just a snapshot. According to the other reviews, it must be very pleasant otherwise.

Beautifully located restaurant with a hearty atmosphere and a typical regional menu. The quality of the cuisine is worth highlighting. The service did a good job and looked after us well, despite a very full house. Unfortunately - perhaps that's why - it was very loud in the room. So it wasn't a quiet dinner - but overall and with conviction 5 stars.

In pieno centro di Ulm, locale molto caratteristico, poco turistico, che serve piatti tradizionali della Baviera. Il menù non è particolarmente ricco al contrario delle portate, molto abbondanti, buone nel complesso ma che non ci hanno entusiasmato. Servizio "essenziale", sicuramente poco propenso al sorriso :-) Conto corretto.

On our way home from Firenze we took a night in Ulm. We had no reservation and had three restaurants on our shortlist. Gerberhaus was the first one on our list but they were fully booked. If we agreed upon sitting down, having our dinner and leave in one hour they could fit us in. Tired after a 10 hour drive we agreed and I'm so glad we did! My wife had the beef cheek, I took the lambrack and our two sons took the veal sadle. All dishes were amazing and we decided to make a better plan for our next Italian trip to be able to sit down at this pearl on our way home and really enjoy it.

Had lunch on Sunday and I have to say, it was just DELICIOUS!!!!! I had pork fillet with chanterelles and my partner had Maultaschen. Definitely coming back for dinner. Everything was great 👍🏼

We had Flädle with cream chanterelles and Maultaschen with melted onions and mushroom ragout. The portions were both very large and very tasty. Price performance was absolutely appropriate. Service was also very good and quick.

Zonder reserveren binnen gestapt om 18.00 uur. Zaten binnen met uitzicht op naast stromende riviertje. Mooie kaart en prima gerechten. Bediening vriendelijk.

Unglaublich, aber wahr. Obwohl wir in Ulm leben waren hier schon über 10 Jahre nicht mehr beim essen. Und das war ein Fehler! Schönes Ambiente, ein toller, freundlicher Service, klasse Weißwein und ein noch viel besseres Essen. Meine Frau und Ich hatten den Gerberteller - das beste von allem sozusagen. Absolute Empfehlung! Für die Kids gab es Schnitzel mit Pommes. Auch sehr lecker gemacht. Wir kommen wieder - und dieses mal warten wir sicher nicht wieder 10 Jahre.

The meat on our plate was as tough as rubber and inedible... Something like that simply shouldn't happen for an expensive 28 euro menu. The spaetzle were soggy and not really appetizing, the vegetables on the 28 euro plate were also frozen food. The cheese spaetzle wasn't tasty and was much too soggy. Price-performance ratio of the menus is not right. The starters were ok but way too expensive. We had stomach pains after the visit. Not recommended.

Doch wir wurden eines besseren belehrt. Unser Fleisch war ungeniessbar. Meine Freundin konnte es nichtmal schneiden. Es war unübertrieben zäh wie Gummi. Weil es so teuer war, habe ich die hälfte runtergewürgt. Dies war leider mein Fehler. Ich hatte den ganzen Abend Bauchschmerzen. Man sagte uns, es war leider sehr sehnig das Fleisch und etwas roh. Man kam uns mit 5 Euro entgegen. Das Ochsen Bier war super, dass muss man schon sagen.

Friendly staff, we complimented the chef directly, but then when it was time to pay... and no one gave us anything, we were asked to give a tip... of 3 euros!!! Del centro storico quasi comletamente raso al suolo durante la 2^ guerra mondiale è rimasto ben poco. Oltre all'incredibile cattedrale è rimasto in piedi il quartiere dei pescatori. Vale assolutamente farci due passi, durante i quali è molto probabile che incoccere in questo bel ristorantino. Cucina rigorosamente del territorio, ben fatta e digeribile. Servizio e conto corretti. E questo è quanto.

When the staff was asked about it they said “that’s just the way it is” and she left. A pity.

Il locale è molto caratteristico , situato al centro di Ulm. Per fortuna , siamo riusciti a mangiare all’ esterno . Personale poco cordiale . Abbiamo mangiato due Wienerschnitzel con un contorno molto povero . La carne sembrava preparata molto tempo prima . Da non tornare
