Unfortunately, the Maultaschen I ordered were a disappointment: warmed up, drowned in a dark sauce that killed the taste due to too much salt. Very carelessly prepared and too expensive for 3 pieces of Maultaschen. The point is for the soup of the day. However, the ambience and service are really nice. Overall, I wouldn't eat there again...

The heating was set so low that you didn't notice it. In addition, there was a constant draft of cool air, so you had to sit there in your winter coat and still feel cold. And that at midday. For food: waste of money.

Very positive experience. I was on a very restrictive medical diet during my visit and our waiter (kind, extremely* empathetic, friendly and assuring guy) had done everything to make sure I didn't leave the place hungry. He literally made my day and turned my Ulm visit from a rather stressful, uncertain journey into a peaceful trip. I went there for lunch and after understanding my very limiting dietary restrictions, he squeezed us into a fully-booked Saturday evening to help me, and even prepared "take-away" food for the next day. My personal experience is that such flexibility to adapt menu items and tolerance for deviation is very unusual for typical Bavarian restaurants in the service industry and this person took the initiative to make a clear difference. He indeed did. I am very thankful for that. Atmosphere and others are very self explanatory given the 4.5stars they averaged across the existing +1100 reviews but this special incident was my remark. I could not not share this with the community. If you are reading this, thank you once again sir!

We came across the Gerberhaus by chance while passing through with the family. It was the 4th weekend of Advent and totally full. Nevertheless, the three of us got a table that was actually only for two. But it was made possible straight away. The food was absolutely top class, all dishes were above average. We will definitely come back at our next stopover. Thank you and greetings in the kitchen. Really great

We wanted to celebrate our Christmas party in the Gerberhaus and made reservations for that too. We were then sent away on site because apparently there was no reservation to be found. Then we went to the Rössle in Grimmelfingen and were looked after wonderfully.

Great food and ambience. I felt immersed in Swabian culture and cuisine.

Eine Frechheit, ich habe gut 4 Tage vor dem Samstag, den 02.11.2024, einen Tisch für den besagten Samstag für 12:00 bestellt, expl. einen ruhigen, lauschigen, da ich mit meiner Bekannten ein ungestörtes Essen+ mit ggf. noch Nachtisch und ausgedehnte Gesprächen vorhatte..., um ca. 11:45 trafen wir ein, nahmen Platz und bereits kurz nach 13:00... gerade mal fertig gegessen, wurden wir aufgefordert zu zahlen (66EUR liegen gelassen in ca. 1 1/4h), da der Tisch wieder vergeben sei... um 13:15 verließen wir das Lokal, das allerletzte mal, dass ich dort war meinen Unmut tat ich auch noch mündlich kund! Eine absolute Frechheit Gäste so zu behandeln, normalerweise würde ich 0 Punkte vergeben, wenn ich es könnte...

The best Swabian restaurant in Ulm and the surrounding area. The Gerber plate is highly recommended - a combination of many of the house specialties. The homemade spaetzle is another reason to keep coming back. The service is very friendly and competent. The restaurant is very popular - it is advisable to reserve a few days in advance.

Unfortunately, meat is no longer the same as it once was.

Wir bekamen mitten in der Woche den letzten freien Tisch in diesem urigen Gasthaus. Der sehr schön gestaltete Innenraum wirkt äußerst gemütlich, die Speisekarte ist vielfältig und bietet viele schmackhafte Gerichte, auch lokale, an. Das wegen einer Mandelunverträglichkeit nicht essbare Hauptgericht meiner Frau wurde anstandslos getauscht, wobei das Servicepersonal sehr freundlich war. Entschuldigte sich sogar, dass auf die Mandeln nicht auf der Speisekarte hingewiesen worden war ("Unser Fehler"). Man sollte aber unbedingt reservieren, um einen Platz zu bekommen, ansonsten könnte Ihnen ein schöner Aufenthalt entgehen.

Very tasty food with good service and a reasonably normal price/performance ratio

We were there without a reservation. That's why I don't say anything about the uncomfortable cat table in the hallway. We got something to eat. It wasn't bad, but I would have expected more for the price. We then went to another restaurant to have dessert. Because we weren't completely full. However, I was really disappointed with the service. I asked for the wine list and received it. But to order the wine I had to wait a long time and my partner had to ask the waiter again. During the meal no one came to ask if everything was okay. I had to ask the next table for salt and pepper. The two service staff walked past us several times, as I said, we had the table right on the walkway. When we were finished, the plates weren't cleared away for a relatively long time. It was full, I give the staff credit for that. Still, we didn't feel particularly welcome. I would like to mention that I rarely complain about service staff when things are busy because I'm one of them and I know how stressful this job can be, especially when you're obviously understaffed. I hope this visit was just a snapshot. According to the other reviews, it must be very pleasant otherwise.

Beautifully located restaurant with a hearty atmosphere and a typical regional menu. The quality of the cuisine is worth highlighting. The service did a good job and looked after us well, despite a very full house. Unfortunately - perhaps that's why - it was very loud in the room. So it wasn't a quiet dinner - but overall and with conviction 5 stars.

In pieno centro di Ulm, locale molto caratteristico, poco turistico, che serve piatti tradizionali della Baviera. Il menù non è particolarmente ricco al contrario delle portate, molto abbondanti, buone nel complesso ma che non ci hanno entusiasmato. Servizio "essenziale", sicuramente poco propenso al sorriso :-) Conto corretto.

On our way home from Firenze we took a night in Ulm. We had no reservation and had three restaurants on our shortlist. Gerberhaus was the first one on our list but they were fully booked. If we agreed upon sitting down, having our dinner and leave in one hour they could fit us in. Tired after a 10 hour drive we agreed and I'm so glad we did! My wife had the beef cheek, I took the lambrack and our two sons took the veal sadle. All dishes were amazing and we decided to make a better plan for our next Italian trip to be able to sit down at this pearl on our way home and really enjoy it.

Had lunch on Sunday and I have to say, it was just DELICIOUS!!!!! I had pork fillet with chanterelles and my partner had Maultaschen. Definitely coming back for dinner. Everything was great 👍🏼

We enjoyed a lovely evening with good food and good service

We had Flädle with cream chanterelles and Maultaschen with melted onions and mushroom ragout. The portions were both very large and very tasty. Price performance was absolutely appropriate. Service was also very good and quick.

Zonder reserveren binnen gestapt om 18.00 uur. Zaten binnen met uitzicht op naast stromende riviertje. Mooie kaart en prima gerechten. Bediening vriendelijk.

Unglaublich, aber wahr. Obwohl wir in Ulm leben waren hier schon über 10 Jahre nicht mehr beim essen. Und das war ein Fehler! Schönes Ambiente, ein toller, freundlicher Service, klasse Weißwein und ein noch viel besseres Essen. Meine Frau und Ich hatten den Gerberteller - das beste von allem sozusagen. Absolute Empfehlung! Für die Kids gab es Schnitzel mit Pommes. Auch sehr lecker gemacht. Wir kommen wieder - und dieses mal warten wir sicher nicht wieder 10 Jahre.

The meat on our plate was as tough as rubber and inedible... Something like that simply shouldn't happen for an expensive 28 euro menu. The spaetzle were soggy and not really appetizing, the vegetables on the 28 euro plate were also frozen food. The cheese spaetzle wasn't tasty and was much too soggy. Price-performance ratio of the menus is not right. The starters were ok but way too expensive. We had stomach pains after the visit. Not recommended.

Preis / Leistung war jenseits von gut und böse. Wir werden nie wieder dort essen. Als die vier Gäste am Nachbartisch nebenan schlecht über das Essen sprachen dachten wir uns, die hatten einfach pech. Doch wir wurden eines besseren belehrt. Unser Fleisch war ungeniessbar. Meine Freundin konnte es nichtmal schneiden. Es war unübertrieben zäh wie Gummi. Weil es so teuer war, habe ich die hälfte runtergewürgt. Dies war leider mein Fehler. Ich hatte den ganzen Abend Bauchschmerzen. Man sagte uns, es war leider sehr sehnig das Fleisch und etwas roh. Man kam uns mit 5 Euro entgegen. Das Ochsen Bier war super, dass muss man schon sagen.

Del centro storico quasi comletamente raso al suolo durante la 2^ guerra mondiale è rimasto ben poco. Oltre all'incredibile cattedrale è rimasto in piedi il quartiere dei pescatori. Vale assolutamente farci due passi, durante i quali è molto probabile che incoccere in questo bel ristorantino. Cucina rigorosamente del territorio, ben fatta e digeribile. Servizio e conto corretti. E questo è quanto.

Friendly staff, we complimented the chef directly, but then when it was time to pay... and no one gave us anything, we were asked to give a tip... of 3 euros!!! Not understanding the request at the time, we paid and from that precise moment, they literally didn't look at us!!! FOR €3??? WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!!!

When it finally came and we were up, it was 9:11 p.m.; We asked for the dessert menu but unfortunately we were told “there will be no more dessert after 9 p.m.” The table behind us was just served. The fact that the kitchen has to close is no problem at all. If we unfortunately have to wait 1.5 hours for the food and are then denied dessert, that's really an absurdity. When the staff was asked about it they said “that’s just the way it is” and she left. A pity.

We really liked it, authentic Swabian cuisine with good service and no long waiting times.

- The Wiener Schnitzel had a strawy taste, not freshly prepared let alone beaten, but - as can be seen from the way too much breading, which should have darker and lighter spots when frying in the pan - probably warmed up in a deep fryer. Conclusion: Little, much too dry veal, plus 5 forks of fried potatoes - the whole thing for just under €30. - The large salad plate with grilled vegetables and feta is good, the potato salad hidden at the bottom of the salad plate is acceptable. - The couscous is at best an appetizer, not plate-filling and hunger-satisfying. - The Kässpätzle drown in the overflowing cheese. - We didn't taste the "Manufaktur-Maultaschen", this name doesn't tell us whether they are made in-house or come from Settele or similar companies. - The ambience is 0815 rustic. - The service was attentive and friendly. - Food is served to everyone at the same time, so a plus.

The food was excellent. There were only two waitresses however, for the entire restaurant. Dinner was served rather swiftly, but then we had to wait almost an hour before we could finally get hold of a waitress to pay the bill.

Food was quite good but found it a bit expensive. 1 star deducted because we came as a larger group and therefore got a smaller menu with fewer dishes and more expensive prices than on the normal menu.

Here you can get very tasty cheese spaetzle right at the window. However, on Schwörmontag these cost €8, which is cheeky because they normally cost €7. Well, still very tasty. If you want Maultaschen with cheese spaetzle, that's not possible, as I discovered on my first visit. You have to know.

We visited this restaurant because of the good reviews. As soon as we entered we felt like we weren't welcome. The waiter confirmed this with his feigned friendliness and not appropriate comment about the food ordered. My lentils were still pretty decent, but my husband's large salad was completely wilted or... touched. You can't expect that from a guest. I can't recommend it. Once and never again.

A very nice typical german restaurant! The food was very delicious and the atmosphere was pleasant. The people, who worked there were very welcoming and nice too. The main dishes took a bit more time to arrive, but it was worth the wait.

Not recommended Maultaschen (s) for 16 € - Mini portion looks like a burger Maultache from the discount store and spiced up with sauce. Not worth €16! The employee does not adequately respond to a complaint about the darkly fried mini "supermarket muleache" in sauce. For €16, you can expect homemade Maultaschen.

The food, wonderful cheese spaetzle, was good and plentiful, the service was friendly and blessed with humor. It gets busy on weekend evenings, so reservations are recommended. We only called an hour in advance and then had to wait at the bar for a short time, but that was nice too, we got to talking.

I would have given it 5 stars on my first visit, so the second visit was even more disappointing. There were far too few service staff there. We were just lucky, but the people at our neighboring table had to wait over 45 minutes for their drinks. Furthermore, our table was already taken after 1 1/2 hours.

We had a wonderful evening in this location. Inconspicuous from the outside, but very nice inside. Luckily we had reserved a table on a weekday (Monday), which was a good thing because in my opinion it was fully booked. I had braised ox cheeks with root vegetables, a culinary dream. For dessert there was Kaiserschmarn with almonds, fruit and ice cream - that was really very good. But we shared it because we were full from the main course. The service was very good and we also received a very good red wine recommendation. In short: the visit was worth it.

Seemed like the only place in Ulm that was buzzing. Lovely atmosphere. Quant little restaurant on the water. Friendly staff. Wide selection of food on the menu. I had the Gerberteller which was both generous and tasty. I'm not partial though to the main local delicacy Kasspãtzle which is like a mushy macaroni cheese thing. But that's just me. If I'm ever in Ulm again, I'll go back. Well worth a visit.

Wir waren anlässlich eines Geburtstags im Gerberhaus zum Abendessen. Die Atmosphäre direkt an der Blau ist sehr schön, die Beleuchtung könnte aber einen Tick heller sein. Die Karte ist vielfältig und hat neben schwäbischen Klassikern auch Fisch und vegetarische Gerichte zu bieten. Die bestellen Gerichte waren alle sehr gut zubereitet und das Fleisch schön Medium gebraten. Der Service war zuvorkommen und freundlich. In Summe eine Empfehlung.

Vorwegnehmen möchte ich, dass wir als Paar in Ulm leben und schon oft das Gerberhaus besucht haben. Es ist im Fischerviertel, der Altstadt von Ulm in der Nähe des Parkhauses Fischerviertel und direkt am Flüsschen "Blau" gelegen. Es hat eine sehr angenehme stimmungsvolle Atmosphäre. Das Restaurant zeichnet sich durch eine gute, vielseitige Küche aus und ist von der Vorspeise bis zum Nachtisch sehr zu empfehlen. Auch das reichhaltige Weinangebot ist empfehlenswert. Natürlich auch die anderen Getränke. Im Sommer ist eine Bewirtschaftung zusätzlich auch im verkehrsarmen Außenbereich, zu beiden Seiten des Restaurants, der allabendlich lebhaft genutzt wird. Es wird auch Mittagstisch angeboten, der ebenfalls sehr zu empfehlen ist. Da es sich um ein sehr beliebtes Lokal, nicht nur für Gäste der Stadt, sondern auch für die Einwohner handelt, ist eine Reservierung empfehlenswert.

Very harsh and aggressive attention from a lady who was supposedly the one who was directing. He refused to give us dessert because the kitchen had closed. 2:30 p.m. It's not worth coming back.

Visited this lovely restaurant in the beautiful town of Ulm when on a business trip. Great service; fantastic food - including good local cuisine. Special thanks to the very patient waiters who were happy to allow us to drink yet another bottle of wine long after the restaurant had closed! Try and get a table by the river (adds a nice ambience to the evening.)

We have been coming there again and again for many years and we always enjoy the Gerberhaus restaurant. Everything is just right here - a great location in the middle of the fishing district with a lovingly furnished guest room and good service. The menu surprises, for example, with a beetroot soup with horseradish, but the classic farmer's duck with red cabbage and dumplings is also simply delicious!

Im Gerberhaus hier in Ulm erhält man eine solid, schwäbische Küche mit den üblichen Gerichten. Keinerlei außergewöhnliche Zubereitungen oder Besonderheiten. Es ist mir ein Rätsel, warum dieses Restaurant auf Platz 2 im TripAdvisor gelandet ist. Im Fischerviertel gibt es mindestens fünf gleichwertige Restaurants, die alle die typische schwäbische Küche anbieten. Für eine Top Platzierung ist dies einfach zu wenig. Der Service ist sehr zuvorkommend das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis stimmt.
