We celebrated our wedding lunch on December 12, 2025, at Restaurant Freigeist with a three-course meal and were delighted with our choice. Even the communication beforehand was incredibly easy and pleasant. Jean-Luc took the time to ask about our preferences and created a personalized menu that was a perfect fit for us. On the day itself, we immediately felt at ease, as did our guests. The team was consistently warm, attentive, and highly professional. We especially appreciated being able to deliver our table decorations the day before, and they were then set up exactly as we had envisioned. The food was not only beautifully presented but also tasted absolutely delicious – we received nothing but positive feedback from our guests. Overall, it was a truly wonderful wedding lunch in a relaxed atmosphere. We would highly recommend Freigeist – even for special occasions.

We went there for the Christmas menu… A table for two in the middle of the room, overlooking the staff, some of whom seemed rather helpless… The staff, who were genuinely very friendly and tried their best, wandered around the room somewhat aimlessly with appetizers, main courses, and desserts, constantly having to ask guests what they had ordered just to get their food out… quite strange. It hardly surprises me that our food didn't arrive at the same time; not a single course came to the table even remotely close to being served at the same time – and there were only two of us. An unusual concept and very annoying. A tip for the owners: if you run a restaurant in winter, it would be nice to ensure that the cold is kept out as much as possible when temperatures are below freezing. An entrance door that closes in slow motion doesn't help. As a result, it was very drafty and cold at our table. It's a shame when you're just glad the meal is over and you can finally leave. Even the good quality of the food couldn't save the evening…

We celebrated our company Christmas party this year at Freigeist in Bad Münster and were simply thrilled. Everything was perfectly organized from start to finish. 🎄 The creatively presented dishes deserve special mention. Every dish was not only a culinary delight but also a visual work of art – you can immediately tell that the food is prepared with great attention to detail and a high standard of quality. A big thank you also goes to the service team: attentive, courteous, and incredibly friendly without being intrusive. As a guest, we felt completely comfortable and valued at all times. An absolute highlight of the region! The food is simply fantastic; the ever-changing menu, featuring seasonal and regional products, makes every visit a new culinary experience. You discover something delicious and special each time. With every bite, you can tell that the kitchen staff works with passion and joy. I've been a regular at this restaurant for years and am always thrilled. But it's not just the food that's first-class; the service staff is also professional, incredibly warm, dedicated, and highly skilled. Add to that the stunning location on Ebernburg Castle with its breathtaking view over the Nahe Valley. If I could give it more stars, I would without hesitation. My absolute favorite restaurant!

Unfortunately, we had one waiter who was rather unenthusiastic (or not at all) and sometimes even rude. However, I think all the other staff members were completely different. The food was very good.

Last night we had a get-together with long-time colleagues at Ebernburg Castle, and as usual, I checked reviews beforehand, coming across some rather scathing ones. But out of curiosity, I looked at the reviews, and even more so, out of sheer curiosity, I went there in person to decide for myself how the place and the team made an impression. Now I can say that these reviews were clearly exaggerated, for whatever reason. For the first time in a very long time, I enjoyed a meal without a trace of artificial flavoring or the unpleasant aftertaste of MSG. In my opinion, it was created with great care and served with just as much love and respect for the guest. Thank you for this experience; I can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. ' ... If someone has little time for this pleasure and complains about costs that barely exceed four packs of cigarettes for a high-quality meal, then they should just make use of the plentiful fast-food restaurants 😀

We were absolutely and completely satisfied with the catering service at the Christmas party for SaniThek Heating-Plumbing-Tiling-Air Conditioning Company in Rüdesheim. The food was fantastic! We booked again for next year right there on the spot. Restaurant Freigeist comes highly recommended. We attended a conference with 80 people at this beautiful venue. The food and service were outstanding. All participants were completely satisfied. We would gladly return.

We made a last minute reservation almost booked out on Thursday evening. Lovely people and great food. We ate wild pig meat for the first time and they made a special desert for my husband that does not eat gluten. Dankeschön!

This restaurant is highly recommended. The cuisine is excellent. The German dishes have been reinterpreted and made even better. The service was good and friendly, both to us and our three small children. The location is simply wonderful. Everything was great. Unfortunately, I have to share a very negative experience. This is a shame, because in my opinion, it's a lapse in judgment. When sharing dessert, the restaurant charged us €2 for an empty plate. On a bill of €137, we found this very cheeky. A real pity. That's why we're giving it 3 stars instead of 5. Nevertheless, we recommend this restaurant and will return.

We were there yesterday afternoon and were very satisfied. The atmosphere is great, the service was friendly, and apart from one crazy woman in the restroom (which wasn't the owners' fault), it was a very pleasant afternoon.

We always love coming back to Freigeist, and every evening is a special experience for us, especially when the outdoor terrace is open and we can enjoy the beautiful view while we eat. Just yesterday, we were there again for dinner. The welcome is always warm, and we are personally shown to our table. Special requests, such as a window seat or, in the summer, a table on the terrace, are happily accommodated. Dietary restrictions are also easily communicated. We ordered the four-course gourmet menu. Every single course was a delight, especially the pumpkin soup. They use high-quality, regional products. Each dish is unique, and we've never had anything quite like it anywhere else. It's a pleasure to choose from such a creative and special menu! We can't understand the criticism from another review that the menu portions are small: We ourselves are hearty eaters and are always more than satisfied after the meal. The size of each course is just right! ... Despite the restaurant being full and a private party in the adjoining room, we were served promptly and didn't have to wait long for our food. If you'd like a wine recommendation, you're always in good hands here. If a server isn't sure which wine would be suitable, they professionally communicate this, and the head waiter personally comes to your table to offer a recommendation based on your preferences. Keep it up! The various events also provide variety and are another reason to visit Freigeist regularly. Besides the friendly service, the creative cuisine, and the high quality of the food, we also appreciate the philosophy behind it. By this, we mean not only the kitchen's appreciation for the regional products used, but also the attention paid to the well-being of the staff. Young people are given the opportunity to prove themselves in the front of house or in the kitchen. Freigeist is a true asset to the region. First-class quality at fair prices. This review simply doesn't do justice to how much we enjoy going there!

We hired Mr. Blumers for external catering for a birthday party. He was supported by his service staff. From the planning to the actual event, everything was carried out very professionally and reliably. The menu, each presented in small glasses, was very creatively arranged. The food was of excellent quality and very sophisticated. The service staff handled the distribution of food and drinks in a friendly, calm, and efficient manner. We were completely satisfied.

A very pretty restaurant with a view of the Rotenfels. We only ate a bite, but it was delicious and had a depth of flavor with seasonal ingredients. We'll definitely be back. The service was attentive and competent. There was a vegan in our group, and we were immediately recommended the pumpkin soup, which is made with coconut milk. Alternative toppings were also discussed, so there were no problems with the serving. That's not always the case.

Back in August, I celebrated my 60th birthday with 40 guests at this extraordinary restaurant. From the initial meeting with Jean-Luc Blumers to the phenomenally delicious food, my expectations were met and even exceeded in every respect. My guests were also thrilled, and this won't be the last time we've been here. The atmosphere, the friendly, attentive service staff; the fantastic food, prepared with creativity, professionalism, and passion; an outstanding selection, including non-alcoholic beverages; and a chef who truly understands his craft. Anyone who values ​​regional, high-quality cuisine will not be disappointed here! Unfortunately, no one had time to take photos of the buffets; it was simply too delicious! I had a wonderful day! After a lovely vacation in my former hometown, we ended up here for dinner... all my companions were very enthusiastic about the food... I, however, had the daily buffet, "chicken wings" with fries and homemade remoulade. Everything looked very good, and my companions were also really impressed with their burgers and the schnitzel... I, however, missed some seasoning in the chicken wings (it seemed like they were pre-boiled in water, then coated in nuts and cornflakes... but again, without salt). Everything was so bland! The fries definitely had salt, and the homemade remoulade was delicious!... But the main course was bland; there was no room on the plate to eat, and no plate to rest the bones on! Personally, I was very disappointed! Salt, when used correctly, is a good flavor enhancer. Too much is definitely bad, but not at all (and that's how it seemed to me) is also very tasteless! What a pity!!

A wonderful young chef menu. The idea alone is worth five stars. If you inspire young people to do their work by giving them a chance to get involved, and then it all turns out so wonderfully, and the service is top-notch, then the chef has done everything right. And the hour-long journey was worth it. We'll definitely be back soon.

Writing reviews isn't really my thing, but I have to do it here. I've read the reviews about the Freigeist, including the replies to bad reviews. If you give a bad review, you're practically put down and told to address any shortcomings in person. I did this, with the following result: We had a set menu, and the price-performance ratio wasn't right. We could have had a snack after the meal. The soup was inedible for me and others, so I complained to the front waiter on site. His response: "You were just unlucky," and then he turned away from me. When I complained about this response, he rushed at me and yelled at me. In a reply to a review, the Freigeist writes that they are not a beer garden, and this is true, as I have never been addressed by waiters in a beer garden. Addressing guests informally (including in the justifications of reviews) isn't really common in an upscale restaurant. By the way, in upscale restaurants in France, there's always a free bottle of tap water on the table. Since the Freigeist labels complaining guests as ignorant, amateurs, and so on, I'll still submit a review as a simple guest. A guest who cares about what goes into running a restaurant, but who, first and foremost, wants the food to taste good and the surroundings to be just right. This restaurant aims to meet high standards. What is repeatedly praised as excellent is the location in the castle. So, now the Freigeist can not only refute my criticism, but also evaluate me personally.

We were fortunate enough to be able to secure Jean-Luc and his team from Restaurant Freigeist as our caterer for our wedding reception in early September 2025. The appetizers for the champagne reception, especially the special barbecue buffet, as well as the dessert and midnight snack, were a culinary delight and were also praised by our guests as one of the highlights of the day. The on-site team provided outstanding service throughout the afternoon and evening. With Jean-Luc, coordination in advance and on the day itself was as smooth and uncomplicated as one could wish for. We would like to thank Restaurant Freigeist for their contribution to making it a wonderful day for us with this truly perfect catering. We wholeheartedly recommend Jean-Luc and his team, would choose them as our caterer again at any time, and will certainly be guests at Restaurant Freigeist again.

We enjoyed the Scottish evening. Patrick presented various bagpipes and even played Irish and Scottish songs for us on the back terrace, almost all of which we knew. We enjoyed the four-course menu, especially the main course and dessert. We appreciated the organic quality and that everything was homemade. All the service staff were on the ball and looked after us very well. I found the room to the right of the entrance even more comfortable, but it would probably have been too small for that kind of music. The Ebernburg is a great location, especially at sunset. It was a lovely candlelight dinner with my husband. The food and service were indescribably good. The concept and the food are incredibly good. The prices are reasonable in my opinion. You're a great team. 💓

Very good and varied dishes. Seasonal dishes made from local ingredients change several times throughout the year. It costs a little more, but it's definitely more than worth the price. Regularly offers various events with set menus. Unique location on the castle grounds. Therefore, the parking lot (unfortunately, mostly gravel) is a bit far away. Very friendly, attentive, and flexible service. Not too many tables, so advance booking is recommended.

We finally made it to Freigeist. What can I say? Absolutely thrilled. The kitchen: The food is truly cooked with love, select ingredients, and refinement. It's beautifully presented, and the flavors complement everything. The service: Attentive, on the ball, but by no means intrusive. We had an appetizer, main course, and dessert. Everything was perfectly timed. The selection of regional products (drinks, etc.) fits perfectly into the concept. What I personally can't understand is the gourmet tourism. Guys... you do such a great job and good food, you don't have to "give it away" 😉 Please keep it up... the Nahe region needs these restaurants. Honesty and craftsmanship win in the long run. The food was actually quite good, but the service was a disaster. We waited an hour for the food. The wrong dish was brought to every other table. But the worst part came when we paid. They simply charged us one main course too many. And not just at our table.

A very beautiful restaurant in a prime location with excellent regional and seasonal cuisine. The dishes are unusual and imaginatively prepared by the talented chef Jean-Luc Blumers. The restaurant offers a peaceful terrace with enchanting views over the town to the Rotenfels mountain. Various theme nights are offered throughout the year. The venue is also suitable for larger events and offers an exceptional backdrop with culinary highlights. We have visited the Freigeist restaurant several times and would gladly return. In addition to the à la carte menu, the wine list also offers regional delicacies from the Nahe region. The friendly sommelier provides expert advice to out-of-town guests and conveys the passion for Nahe wine.

We celebrated our civil wedding at the Freigeist restaurant last week. There were 23 of us and we had the Knight's Hall to ourselves. It was perfect for us; we had a wonderful day. From the initial consultation to the day itself, everything was uncomplicated, and everyone was very pleasant to talk to. Everything was top-notch, superb quality, a 4-course menu for a reasonable price. There was nothing to complain about. We can certainly eat out for less, but quality costs a bit more. If everyone who gives negative reviews here knows so much, which I find more than unfair, they should save their money and cook for themselves. Good food doesn't sit heavily on the stomach. I don't want to leave restaurants stuffed, but rather be able to remember how good it was for days afterward. Keep up the good work, and the service is fine. We could barely move around the table we were assigned because everything was extremely cramped. There were plenty of empty tables all around that were supposedly reserved. The food was okay, the salad a bit salty, and the sauce on the schnitzel was sweet. The burger could have used more seasoning. The service was friendly.

We celebrated our wedding at Freigeist last week, and we were more than satisfied. 🙂 We had a wonderful day 🥰 The arrangements in advance went very well, and our individual wishes were taken into account. The tables on site were decorated according to our wishes (we provided the decorations), and everything was beautifully prepared. The food was delicious. I didn't have time for more photos of the meal 😂 so there are only pictures of the appetizer. The service was very good and they also accommodated our various drink requests. I can highly recommend it, even for larger parties. Unfortunately, some visitors to the Ebernburg castle skillfully ignored the "private party" sign, so we had to ask them to leave our area. But the Freigeist team couldn't do anything about that 😉

The restaurant uses regional produce. The menu is very straightforward. You should ask your server for detailed information when choosing a dish. Pork was the predominant meat, but beef, poultry, and vegetables are also available. There's also a great wine list. You can also dine outside and enjoy the beautiful view. Unfortunately, the restaurant's rear terrace isn't always open due to staffing shortages.

Great location, delicious food – but somewhat chaotic service We ate at Freigeist with my husband and his parents. The food was truly delicious, and the view from the castle is simply stunning. The prices are on the higher side. Unfortunately, the service was a bit slow and distracted – friendly, but not very attentive and forgetful! The clientele tends to be older, which makes for a quiet atmosphere. On nice days, it can get quite crowded due to tourism – but the terrace with its view is all the more worthwhile. We'll definitely be back, hopefully outside in good weather!

Despite the ongoing daily business and several parallel events, everything was incredibly well organized. You could sense the professionalism and passion that goes into the work here at all times. The chef has such a refined palate that you're almost certain he could earn a Michelin star if he put his mind to it. We were particularly impressed by the rosemary panna cotta—the subtle, delicate flavor of the rosemary was masterfully balanced and made the dessert a true highlight. The service was also excellent, especially the waiter with the striking bracelets who was attentive, warm, and always there to help. A little tip for the team: Don't take the negative online reviews from some other guests to heart—they clearly have no idea what they're doing. We didn't get to eat, so I can't rate it. I came with my wife and children to "eat." We arrived at 6:10 p.m. The sun was shining and very hot, and we were assigned a seat in the blazing sun. Customers who arrived shortly after us were given free seating. We had to wait 15 minutes before we were noticed and given our menus. We ordered drinks, two salads, and a burger. Then we had to wait. We got our drinks 10 minutes later. Thirty minutes later, four more tables next to us filled up. It took relatively little time for these tables to be served with drinks and food. And we had to wait even longer. My children (8 and 2) became impatient and whiny; after all, it was hot and they were hungry. No one paid us any attention, and after over 100 minutes, I asked for the bill and that we didn't need any more food. The waiter gave us a cheeky smile and then, without comment, charged us full price for our drinks. No apology, no discount for the long wait. We'll never go here again.

5 Stars – A Hidden Gem Inside Castle Walls! Dining at the restaurant within the historic walls of Ebernburg Castle in Bad Münster am Stein was nothing short of magical. The ambiance alone—surrounded by centuries-old stone and a stunning view—sets the tone for an unforgettable experience.It’s a perfect location not from Kaiserslautern and definitely a place one has to visit. But let’s talk food: The appetizer of kandierter Ziegenkäse with Feigen-Senf and Rhabarber-Chutney was a dream—sweet, tangy, and perfectly balanced. And the Frühlingsschweineschnitzel with its homemade Kräuter-Parmesan crust was out of this world. Every bite was packed with flavor and clearly made with care. This place is a treasure. I honestly can’t wait to go back. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an extraordinary dining experience in a fairytale setting.

We were here for a celebration with 55 people, and everything was fantastic. Very good and fair preparation, collaborative and reliable planning with the chef and head waiter in advance (via email, in direct conversations). Thanks to both of them and to the team! We and our guests really enjoyed the celebration! It was a "well-rounded affair"; it was exactly as we had imagined. The very carefully prepared and prepared food (meat and vegetarian with a feel-good factor), the stunning floral arrangements, the friendly service, the cleverly designed rooms. What's also important: the cuisine here is authentic, regional (from our area), nothing fake or overdone. Keep up the good work!!!

We always enjoy coming here as a couple, regardless of special occasions – the Freigeist always impresses with its friendliness, quality, and genuine passion, all in a fantastic atmosphere. Absolutely recommended for anyone who appreciates good food and hospitality!

Mit Freundinnen habe ich Bad Kreuznach besucht und wir suchten nach einem schönen Abschluss für unser Pfingstwochenende und wurden nicht enttäuscht. Aus dem Speisezimmer hat man Rundumblick auf den Rotenfels. Wirklich beeindruckend. Das Speisezimmer ist stilvoll eingerichtet. Der Service gut und freundlich. Wir hatten 2 x das Menü ohne Suppe und 1 x Hauptspeise und Dessert. Das Menü war hervorragend und wundervoll auf dem Teller arrangiert. Sehr hochwertiges Fleisch, fast ein bisschen viel als Vorspeise. Wir hatten als Hauptspeise 2 x Wild und alles in hervoraggender Qualität und sehr ausreichend. Auch die dazu gereichten unterschiedlichen Gemüse und die Taler waren Klasse. Das Dessert haben wir dann nur noch mit Mühe geschafft, aber es war einfach zu lecker. Und auch die Weine waren sehr gut. Wir können den Freigeist vollen Herzens weiterempfehlen.

We celebrated my grandmother's 90th birthday with 70 people at the Freigeist restaurant and had a wonderful party. The food was exceptionally good, and the service was always attentive, cheerful, and friendly. Special requests were always accommodated, and the prices were fair. I would definitely recommend it and thank you to the entire team :)

The restaurant is clean and beautifully located. A visit to Ebernburg is worthwhile for the view and a cool drink. But that's about it, unfortunately. The restaurant has a lot of untapped potential. The ambiance could be more beautifully presented. The food also reflects the restaurant's clear cost-cutting policy, which is disproportionate to the prices. You expect to be full when ordering a gourmet meal. Six small pieces of meat and a potato pancake with a spoonful of vegetables don't contribute to this. The quality of the food itself also leaves something to be desired. The crème brûlée wasn't crisp and was too runny. The rhubarb was carelessly cooked and slopped next to the whipped cream. I also had the feeling at times that I was being rushed, which was also due to the fact that my glasses were put away before they were even empty. You expect a lot and are ultimately only disappointed. Regarding the service, I found it disappointing that criticism was not addressed and simply dismissed. The picture of the creme brulee says it all (save to the max). Unfortunately, you can't post the taste, but it looked better than it tasted.

Apparently, "reservation" is just a fancy word on the wall here. We arrived on time – but our table was still firmly in the hands of the previous guests. So if you value organization, it's better to come without prior notice – you're guaranteed a surprise. We were then offered an alternative table by the entrance door, between the food counter and the restroom area, to bridge the estimated 30-minute wait. What an outrage!!! We then left...

0.7 liters of tap water for €7.50 speaks volumes…

I organized a dinner for a group of 30 people and a three-course menu the following day. Coordinating the food and service was seamless, as was fine-tuning on each day. The food and wine selection were praised by everyone. The dishes were beautifully presented and the service was very friendly. The food was prepared and served quickly, so the first person to arrive didn't have to wait long for the last person to have their meal, so everyone could start eating together. Highly recommended not only for groups but also for smaller, more intimate events. The view is the icing on the cake.

Today was our first visit to the Freigeist restaurant here at Ebernburg.... The view alone is special... We received a very friendly welcome and were given a lovely table by the window with an impressive view... We were thrilled with the food... The cooking here is still done with attention to detail... The salad with the meal is second to none... The venison schnitzel... wowwww Great language... Friendly... authentic... 👌👍

We celebrated there as a private party in the Knight's Hall, preceded by a champagne reception on the outdoor terrace. Everything was perfect. From the planning and reservation to the menu selection and service. And the food is fantastic, too!

No, it is very expensive. We also only wanted coffee and cake, which weren't available, so we just ordered coffee. Despite asking, the coffee still wasn't there after three quarters of an hour. People around us were being served by the person we requested, but no coffee was brought to us. We then left. It seems as if you are just a guest to be served when you order food. What's more, the owner of the restaurant can't handle criticism; he rails against it instead of discussing the problem with his apparently incompetent staff. Here you are only a good guest if you eat a lot. I can't judge the food, we didn't eat anything. So Mr. Owner, think about it.!!

A very beautiful and extravagant restaurant in a fantastic location! Definitely worth a visit! Anyone who complains about the prices here obviously hasn't informed themselves about the concept or clearly just doesn't understand it! ;-) Quality has its price...! We had a lovely time…

The restaurant's clear advantage is the view from the restaurant. The path to the castle and the view from the tables is very beautiful. The food was okay but not great. The salad was clearly missing sauce/dressing. The meat was very mixed and not tender. The prices are high and the drinks in particular are very overpriced. Update: I reduced the review from 4 stars to 1 after the owner's response. One for the view. I wrote clearly what was going on with a good review and received an unreasonable wrong answer. There were ten of us in the restaurant and the impression was consistent. Meat tough, salad as written, prices totally exorbitant. Beer price is exorbitant. The water served is tap water at an insane price per bottle. We still gave it 4 stars. However, the owner is in no way capable of criticism. Almost everyone who dares to give something worse than 5 stars receives a stupid answer. I recommend reading the responses to other reviews. It's simply disgusting what is secreted there as an answer. A person like that doesn't belong in public. We discussed it again in the group and will avoid the restaurant. Word like this gets around quickly.

New gastronomy that unfortunately doesn't suit my wallet. Unfortunately I can't say anything more about it.

Mit wunderschönen Blick auf den Rotenfels kann man hier angenehm speisen. Der Inhaber und Koch versteht sein Handwerk; der Service war jederzeit zuvorkommend. Die Ziegenkäse-Vorspeise ist sehr gut. Wir hatten allerdings etwas Pech mit dem 2erlei vom Biorind ( Gulasch und Braten). Der Gulasch war zu durchwachsen (Einkauf?) und der Braten etwas zäh. Das Risotto (Spargel) war keins, aber trotzdem lecker.

Nice location on the Ebernburg. Food was relatively expensive and the Glan burger was rather boring in taste. Young service staff had not yet been properly trained.

We didn't eat because - A lady at our table had to wait 1 hour for her salad with goat cheese - A family had to wait even longer for their food and finally left - 2 women got their food at completely different times (20 min.) - There is no more cake either - Non-alcoholic wheat was out High-priced restaurant, but the other circumstances don't do it justice. It's a shame, that was different...

We were guests here for the first time. The service was super nice and attentive, so we felt very comfortable right from the start. The view of the Rotenfels from the restaurant is amazing. Great atmosphere up there! As a main course we had the spring pork schnitzel which was delicious and beautifully presented. Highly recommended.

Very good and competent service, impressive location, beautiful well-kept interior. The menu is clear and that's a good thing, relevant regional and modern cuisine at a very fair price. The wine list is well coordinated and the homemade lemonade was also delicious. There are people in the kitchen who definitely know their craft. All in all, the walk up to the castle is really worth it to be rewarded with culinary delights up there. The restaurant is definitely a great addition to this picturesque region. We'll be back. I had the pork schnitzel (local producer) with Burgundy sauce, wild garlic oil, purple carrot puree, carrot, fried potatoes (wild garlic risotto regular) and goat cheese. Very nice combination, what I really have to emphasize is that the breading is not a run-of-the-mill breadcrumb breading but also has a lot of crunch. Warm greetings from Hesse.
