Spontaneous discovery while walking through the city. Exceptionally good food served by friendly waiters who enjoy their work in a cozy, traditional atmosphere. Had a really nice time there!

We were in this very nice restaurant for 2 evenings. I only had one snack for the evening (veal sausages with pretzels), so I can't actually rate the food 100%. We had a great time. And then there was the staff. Simply top and cannot be beaten. The two men behind the counter are worth their weight in gold. The rest of the staff always helpful, always courteous. The Franziskaner restaurant is always worth a visit. Also 1 or 2 🌟 more.

Basic German meals, you will not stay hungry.

Rustic atmosphere with a large selection of beers. Nevertheless, the dumpling on the inside of my knuckle was still frozen and the meat was tough. Overall, very tasty seasoning. The Kaiserschmarrn, on the other hand, was very good.

The place is nice and the food was good but the service left a lot to be desired. We arrived with a reservation and a tall, young waiter treated us quite carelessly. When we finished the dishes we asked him about the desserts and he, laughing, looked at the clock and said "hello." If it was late and the kitchen had already closed, it was enough to say it politely. Regrettable.

This is a restaurant I go to when I want to have a beer with food before dinner. The service is quick and the food is overall delicious.

The ambience is Alpine and so is the choice of food. Otherwise everything is average and OK. You can do it - but you don't have to.

There was nothing wrong with the food. The portions are large and the value for money is still okay. The ambience is Bavarian, rustic and cozy. Lots of wood, tiled stove and harmonious decoration. However, the service was and is probably a disaster. (Perhaps it is different at other times of the day or week) We were allowed to choose a table, but then had to wait around 20 minutes before we could place an order... "I'll take it now, even though it's not my table..." Later, when it comes to payment, a similar dilemma arises. In general, the older service person (f) who was responsible for our table made a somewhat disorganized and listless impression. The overall impression of the service also did not represent a particularly good team spirit. “Colleague is coming soon” It really shouldn't exist anymore these days.

Hello, I was there on Friday September 6th. The food was fabulous, 1 A with stars. The service, on the other hand, was catastrophic. When the waiter asked us for the bill immediately after we had finished eating, we actually wanted to complain about the service, but then he started talking about: "It's customary to tip "Of course we gave him the 10% tip. We're not rascals, but we certainly won't come back again.

All the dishes are very delicious and worth recommending to friends to come and dine here! The beers here 🍻 are all so delicious that you can order one cup after another without stopping! We are designated as service staff who are enthusiastic in serving, friendly in attitude, and make people feel at home! Come and give it a try! If you don’t know what dish to choose, just follow our order! ^_^

Very good food and very good service

Located in the center of Hamburg, a warm, typical German place. Very good cuisine... the crispy knee is excellent, one of the best I have ever tried.

The ambience and drinks were fine. However, the service was a disaster. From the start he showed no distance at all. He called us directly and came across as a know-it-all, made inappropriate jokes and really wanted to seem funny. He spoke to me directly about my teeth and simply and cheekily stated that I had done teeth. When I asked for the bill and simply wanted to round up the amount (we only had a beer and apple spritzer at 4:30 p.m.!), he refused because it wouldn't be enough of a tip. He also asked me dozens of times if I was Italian! Simply discriminatory outrage! Never again!

The food is substandard. The salad comes from a mix that you also buy in the supermarket. I have never eaten such a bad salad in Germany. The potatoes are also not cut themselves. They are all industrially purchased goods. The schnitzel was not fully cooked and not cooked correctly. The beer was tasty. Basically the whole thing is a tourist trap.

Solid price performance, some very large portions. Taste ok. Highly recommended if you're looking for something rustic.

There were 28 people in the restaurant today. The food took an incredibly long time to be served. But we couldn't complain about the taste. However, the prices were quite expensive in relation to the quantity, as were the drinks prices. What was to be criticized, however, was the Kaiserschmarrn, which was from all of us No one was there. More of an indefinable cake with almonds on top. So: Not recommended!

You are forced to pay a 10% tip and the waiter humiliates you if you don't want to tip. For there to be good restaurants there must be bad restaurants like this one.

Bavaria in Hamburg, everything in style. Spatenbräu light on tap, there's also a measure. Weisswursts great. Menu almost really Bavarian 🍻 Nice restaurant, cozy, all wood. Nice service, prices ok.

I highly recommend this place. Why? As soon as we sat down, the waiter brought us the menus in German and we rightly asked him for the menus in English because one of the ones we had was and so that the others could also be able to understand what they wanted to order. In a very unpleasant and rude manner the waiter told us to translate the menu for us with the translator. In the end we decided not to stay after being treated so badly and at that point as we were leaving he insulted us and yelled at us. Really rude. They don't deserve more than one star.

Du får exakt vad som förväntas. Vi äter varsin kalvschnitzel. Ok service. Schnitzeln är mycket bra, väl bankad och bra tillagad. Stekt potatis i överflöd. Är ni ett par som ska äta, ta varsin förrätt, och dela sedan på schnitzeln, om det är det ni ska äta.

Tasty and reasonably priced. Well chilled beer

We ate good typical Bavarian dishes, for those who must eat gluten-free only a plate of roast ham with sauerkraut and quite good mashed potatoes. There is no gluten-free beer. A little too touristy atmosphere. The final surprise was the bill for the very high price of water! We hadn't found it on the menu and €7.40 for 0.75l is really too much!

Beer was very good, tip was probably too little and was thrown back on the table by the waiter in disappointment.

Unfortunately, INCREDIBLE unfriendly service, we were barked at before we even ordered. If we thought of simply sitting at a free table, we would be seated here. It just wasn't written anywhere, there was no sign saying "Please wait...", no desk that would have pointed it out... What a shame! We felt super uncomfortable and left straight away.

Bavarian in Hamburg. We didn't eat anything, just drank. The service is very quick and attentive, we were offered all the available seats.

The Schnitzer is an absolute recommendation! The fries are a bit bland. Spätzle or something similar would be better.

Absolutely fantastic Bayerische experience. The schnitzel is simply outstanding. Started with the weisswurst coupled with a pretzel and a Lowenbrau. Everything was great!!!

My mom and I spontaneously went there for lunch in January. Lunch was actually already over, but we were still allowed to order. These were the best cheese spaetzle I have ever eaten! The service is great, the atmosphere is great, the food is great! We were thrilled! My mom went there again yesterday with her boyfriend and had something to eat, again the service was top notch and the food anyway! A very big compliment to the great service! Always happy!🥰

We were there with a group of 15. The waitress were inpatient and rood to our guests. One of them installed one of our guest because he did not like her request. I never experienced such bad attitude and service in a restaurant across Europe. Shame. It doesn’t matter how the food is when the see is so bad. To avoid!

Great restaurant with tasty traditional food. Faire price. Fast food delivery Very cozy atmosphere. I recommend the meat loaf. The service was not really welcoming from the get-go. And I notice most reviews on here pointed out the same things. If the staff works on their public skills this restaurant would be the bomb❗️ Regardless, when I go at a restaurant the servers are the last thing on my mind, food comes first! 5 stars

Fabulous. This place is exactly what it looks like ... Gut Burgerliches Essen. Friendly service, great food and tasty well poured draft beer !!! The Wienerschnitzel is world class .... would recommend this place!!! Bring your appetite!!

We always came to this restaurant because of the excellent food and service. But something has changed in this place. We looked after the menu ourselves and waited outside for a long time for the waiter. I decided to go in and get someone. After waiting 10 minutes I asked a woman to take our order. She replied rudely, "Order outside." After waiting at the table outside for a while, we decided to leave. Terrible service.

Food was ok. One tall with black beard guy that served our table was very official and "dry"... We didn't like it.. Any explanation about food, we had to google it to understand what is waiting for us.

It was our first time eating there and we were really impressed by the atmosphere. A beautiful old Bavarian alpine pasture awaited us. The service staff is very accommodating and it's easy to talk to them. Food was also very good. Unfortunately, we discovered that the soups were not even at “drinking temperature”. Unfortunately, the two soups were simply cold, which was a shame. The main course was really good and really hot! In terms of price-performance ratio it was really good

The knuckle is delicious. We like to go there. It is spacious, there is space for up to 9 people at the large table and children's chairs are also available.

The food tasted very good, the atmosphere was down-to-earth, and the service could clearly be improved. The two of us visited on a Friday evening and sat upstairs. When we arrived, everything upstairs was empty, but we were not allowed to sit at the window when we asked, even though there were no reservations. The table is intended for 6 people. We were then seated at another table inside for 6 people? We ordered two beers in two sizes and received two beers in the same size. When paying, no thanks were given for the tip. When we then took it back, the waitress became insulting and said: "I don't depend on your tips anyway." The waitress didn't have enough change and asked us to look in our wallets for 10 cents so that he didn't have to go downstairs to get the change. Nice location, good price-performance ratio, but unfortunately not worth visiting again given the service.

This is typical :-) Bavarian restaurant in Hamburg. Very tasty food, incredible beer and good atmosphere. Prices - normal for Hamburg city center. Parking is a problem, better come on foot. I recommend it. Consider booking a table up-front.

A very cozy Bavarian restaurant. The schnitzel with asparagus was simply amazing. This was the first schnitzel where I never wanted any sauce on it. The asparagus was super tender and the potatoes with butter were also extremely good. But you should make a reservation by phone, otherwise it will be difficult to get a table in the evening.

This used to be one of my favorites. Somehow the food no longer fits the time. Liver dumpling soup, fatty knuckle, a potato dumpling, sauce. Something fresh is missing, a salad, a garnish. I can't remember getting anything without a small salad before. But never had a knuckle. And even though we shared a Kaiserschmarrn, 100 EUR (with TIP) is ultimately too expensive for two people. The service is very attentive.

You can eat delicious German food. White asparagus is recommended in June. For a limited time only.

The food is delicious. Service is slow. There is no air conditioning.

Most boring and worst salad ever! Well, actually you don't go to Franciscan to eat a salad. But if this is already on the menu, then it is possible that this will also be ordered. For €18 you get three slices of cucumber, three pieces of overripe tomato, cheap lettuce and a fried chicken breast fillet, complete with boring, not homemade dressing. The breast fillet was quite decent. The rest was just cheap and boring. For €18 you expect a lot more. Even if you take the location into account, you can get a massively better, more interesting salad for around ten euros at any normal lunch table. Here you should probably eat the schnitzel instead, it seems to be quite okay

Not overwhelmingly fast service outside, despite the fact that we were only 3 tables. Neither from order to delivery. But it is delivered nicely and properly, as you would expect in Germany The beers are as they should be, although 6EUR might be on the high side The food is tasty, almost too strong in taste (you don't necessarily need to fry green beans in a packet of butter)

The schnitzel at this restaurant was impressively large but pleasantly thin – exactly what makes a good schnitzel. The taste was excellent and completely convincing. The location is easily accessible on foot, but by car it becomes more difficult. There are parking garages nearby, but as is usual in Hamburg, they are all chargeable.

The Wienerschnitzel was huge and delicious. I think it's pretty good to sit here, but the wait was really long that day. Waiting almost an hour for the food was too much for me personally. Definitely priced higher!

The men staff that's not german is very rude. He said, like forcing to pay tip 10%, although service was very bad. Even we gave some, but i don't want. I want at leat 10%. Common, tip is money when customer satisfied to pay. If forced, why didn't you include a service charge in Menu?

Impolite waitress. Very confrontational. If you are a guest, you have to defend your right to use the bathroom in this establishment.

Really bad service, rude staff, couldn't even order an extra beer at the bar when you couldn't get in touch with the waiters.

Please do not come to this place. If i could give 0 stars i will, the bald waiter told us in german "este es el ultimo trago que les sirvo y luego se pueden ir a la m13rda" and "todos ustedes los turistas son un pedazo de m13rdas" he didn't expect one of us understand german. Also he mistaked my order (an orange juice for a pepsi) and he told me while paying: "i give you the pepsi as a gift" when i didn't even drink it because that was not what i order. So if you want your vacation to be memorable in a nice way don't come to this place.

We visited this restaurant on Monday evening and it was surprisingly full. We did not have a reservation, but got a table. The restaurant was spread over two floors. In general, the food met our expectations, however the behaviour of the waiter was offhanded. The waiter forcefully talked us into leaving at least 10% tips which according to him was a standard in Germany. This unpleasant gesture ruined the overal experience.

Went here last night with the family for dinner. Had Pork Knuckle, Mixed Sausages & Beers. It was really great! Big portions, able for sharing for small tummy. Great ambience too. Real authentic German food. Highly recommended for tourists. Staff was friendly.

Cosy tavern feel. Waiters dressed in traditional Bavarian clothing and were very hospitable. The food promptly arrived and was very tasty. Friendly atmosphere and good selection of beers. I'd definitely recommend it!

Very nice, courteous service staff, the food was very good despite the fact that it was in Hamburg and not Bavaria, we had spaetzle and Obazda. Child-friendly and service-oriented. The ambience was traditional. The only small negative point is the waiting time for Kaiserschmarrn, which has to be ordered in advance as it takes a little longer to prepare (which again speaks for the kitchen)

It was excellent! Knuckles and steak were very good! Service was very nice and I would come again!
