Unique atmosphere, but I found my food a bit overpriced. Fried chicken, potato salad and cucumber salad... Tasted good... But the price 🥺

Atmosphere very stiff and impersonal, but this is a subjective feeling. Food wasn't convincing. Bought potato salad. Dry veal schnitzel. Price performance just doesn't fit at all. No risk of repetition!

The Franz Ferdinand is a very nice restaurant. The food is very tasty and tastes like my grandma's in Austria 😋 The outside area is very pleasant and so is the audience. We would love to come back.

I can't judge the food. I just ate a piece of cake there, which was good, and had something to drink. Even though the place wasn't full, it took quite some time until we were taken care of. Maybe it's because of the Wienerschmää that the restaurant wants to reflect. But they can.

Unfortunately, there are some shortcomings that are not acceptable in this price category: - Long waiting times for drinks - The outside area is swarming with flies - Toilets very dirty (dust on all counter surfaces), wet floors (not from cleaning) - Cordon Bleu cooked too long - When asked about organizing a larger celebration, only the arrogant answer: 'Write us an email' Then celebrate somewhere else. It's a shame, it's in a really nice location.

We happened to stop here today for a cup of coffee after visiting the zoo. Due to the temptations from the display case, in addition to the coffee, there was also a delicious piece of cake. The outdoor area borders directly on the flamingo enclosure. The service was attentive and friendly. The sanitary facilities are modern and clean. We will certainly come back for a hot meal.

I was here for dinner. I had the onion roast with fried potatoes. For dessert there was Kaiserschmarrn. The food was very good, the waiter was very nice and attentive. The food was expensive, but also extremely tasty. If I ever find myself in Bochum again, I'll definitely come back.

Good cuisine, medium priced, highly recommended before going to a musical. The flamingos next door are a nice addition until 6:30 p.m., but then they have to go to bed.

We really liked the food and atmosphere. The service was friendly but the very dirty sneakers didn't fit into the overall picture. There was also rarely anyone at the table with us. I would have liked to drink more, but as it was, it was only two drinks in two hours.

Upscale crowd and great cuisine

We have been guests here many times and have never been disappointed. The food is excellent, the dining room is beautifully designed and the service is always friendly and on the ball.

Nice atmosphere due to the direct proximity to the zoo. This is what the restaurant thrives on. The quality of the food is okay, but it can't keep up with the prices, which are too high. This is where the zoo comes into play again. The staff is friendly, quick with a professional overview. There are enough paid parking spaces but they are also quite expensive because of the location: zoo - restaurant - children's clinic and LWL clinic. Reservations in the restaurant are usually required, but this is often possible. In my case, however, if there are no seats available, I'll go somewhere else and wouldn't make a special reservation because, in my opinion, it's not worth it. Okay, but nothing more.

We had a wonderful evening and will come back soon. The four of us ordered the menu carousel at Franz Ferdinand at the weekend. It was our first visit here. The restaurant has a great atmosphere. The Corona regulations were implemented perfectly. The staff was not only very friendly, but also hit the right tone and gave us a great evening. The four courses were very tasty. The two of us went there for lunch on a Sunday and had a very spontaneous meal there. We received a warm welcome and were lucky that there was still a free table. The restaurant is beautifully located at the zoo and has a nice ambience. The waitresses were all very friendly and attentive. We had the Cordon Bleu as our main course and the warm apple strudel with walnut ice cream for dessert. It was really delicious and I would order it again at any time. Big praise to the service and of course to the kitchen! We left as very satisfied guests. Thanks

Great Austrian restaurant with delicious Alpine dishes. Here we cook with fresh ingredients and love. Attentive service and stylish ambience. Outside you have a great view of the zoo's flamingos.

Sehr schöner Gastraum, freundlicher und effizienter Service, relativ kleine Karte mit geringen Veränderungen über die Jahre. Das Essen ist aber sehr solide. Überwiegend bürgerliche Traditionsküche österreichischer Prägung, der Lachs mit Sprgelcreme überzeugt ebenso wie die Käsespätzle und das Rharbarber-Sorbet. Preise insgesamt angemessen. Austrian cuisine in an upscale atmosphere. Not the first and not the last time I was there.

Unfortunately, the visit to Franz Ferdinand did not quite meet our expectations. The positive thing was that almost all of the things we ordered were delicious and we didn't have to wait too long for the food. There are definitely a few things that can be improved. Since the plate was cold when the food was brought, of course the food was cold after a short time.🤨 When we were eating, the spoons to take the food out were missing almost everywhere. Unfortunately, the service staff were away for longer and longer, so you couldn't ask for them, so you did it yourself. In addition, my dish was missing a main ingredient, which was brought when asked, but as the food got colder and colder, I continued eating without my ingredient. Gröstel were also very close to the point where you couldn't eat them because they were so crispy that I had concerns about my teeth. The Kaiserschmarrn dessert didn't taste great because we didn't use the alcohol-soaked raisins. We've had better/tastier experiences elsewhere. In a higher-priced restaurant you would expect a corresponding serving style, which unfortunately wasn't there. Price/performance/craftsmanship❓❓❓ The restaurant should also decide whether it will accept fewer guests or whether it will ensure that there are enough service staff. Ordering drinks, salt and pepper was a fine art for us. Our conclusion was...there are better restaurants in this price range that deliver more for these prices and take better care of the guest.

My absolute favorite restaurant in a great location with excellent, authentic Austrian food. Both the indoor spaces and the outdoor area at the flamingo enclosure are worth a visit. The dishes are perfectly prepared and exceptionally tasty, while the service is extremely courteous. It is also absolutely positive that more and more vegetarian and vegan dishes are being offered. I have never been disappointed and will come back whenever I can!

Everything is really right here. The menu was absolutely excellent. At first I thought the schnitzel was a bit small, but after the dumplings, soup, schnitzel and Kaiserschmarrn we were completely full. The service was attentive, friendly and quick. The whole thing is rounded off by a friendly, fresh, inviting ambience. Overall, a short culinary holiday in Austria and a successful evening.

Very tasty food. We had a vegetarian schnitzel for around €25 and spaetzle for around €20. My husband said about the spaetzle that it was far too expensive for the food and the quantity. At the beginning it took a long time before I could order my drink and until our food was brought. The waiters are very friendly and nice. The rooms are nice and the view of the zoo is also great. I think it would be nice if they still had painting supplies for children...

Wir waren sonntags mit Familie zum Mittagessen. Es war sehr voll, die Bedienung aber recht zeitnah. Wir hatten 3 x Rostzwiebelbraten mit Grösti und Salat bestellt für jeweils 33,90 €. Auf dem Fleisch wurde (wie ich eigentlich erhofft hatte) keine frischen geschmorten Zwiebeln serviert, sondern getrocknete Röstzwiebel aus der Packung. Für mich ein no go. Die Gröstis stellten sich als Bratkartoffeln heraus. Anschließend bestellten wir jeweils 1 Kugel Eis und eine Tasse Cappuchino. Serviert wurde uns dies ohne eine Beigabe einer kl. Waffel oder Keks. Bei den gehobenen Preisen hätten wir mehr erwartet.

Not surprisingly, Franz Ferdinand is considered one of the best restaurants in Bochum: very friendly and fast service, nice ambience and the food is always excellent!!!

The restaurant also makes the fries for the zoo next door and yesterday, March 2, 2024, I observed how the employee who was pre-frying the fries dropped a very large portion of fries on the dirty floor. He then picked up the fries and threw them into the deep fryer. I asked him about it and then complained to the restaurant and asked the boss that all the fries be thrown away. That's what they did - but they would also have had to dispose of the frying fat. Unfortunately, a single employee creates a very bad impression for the zoo and the restaurant...

Nice service and fair prices. The online reservation was easy and the food we ordered came pretty quickly. The Wiener Schnitzel was very good. I didn't like the apricot dumplings because I liked the cherries more than the apricots (jam).

Were there on Valentine's Day, first of all: The food was great and all the employees were very helpful and very nice. We already mentioned our dessert when ordering, which the very nice waiter also agreed to. Unfortunately we waited for over 25 minutes (no Kaiserschmarrn), but we found that communication was somehow poor. We sat right at the front of the bar, we actually really didn't like the atmosphere. So yes the atmosphere is very modern, but unfortunately it was very, very loud. The door to the kitchen was constantly open and you could always hear loud knocking and hammering, which just wasn't that nice. The waiters were also talking about the fact that they hadn't received a tip for two days 🙈 Maybe we should have such conversations more quietly, it's very unpleasant to hear something like that. Therefore unfortunately 2 stars deducted, but I would still like to come back.

A little pearl in the gastronomy landscape. The service was excellent and very accommodating. The food was perfect and in my opinion the price-performance ratio was optimal. I knew the other concepts in this location, but I like the Franz Ferdinand one the best. We felt very comfortable.

Authentisch österreichische Gerichte werden hier serviert. Wir hatten den Salat mit Backhendlstreifen, der sehr lecker und frisch war. Die Bedienungen waren sehr freundlich und zuvorkommen. Den einen Stern Abzug gabs, da es für uns viel zu kalt war und wir deswegen auch kein weiteres Getränk genommen haben.

Essen war okay. Sehr überschaubare vegetarische Auswahl. An den Waffeln sollten sie nochmal arbeiten 😅

Im Franz Ferdinand in Bochum war das Essen wirklich super. Das Wiener Schnitzel war mega lecker, schön knusprig, und der Kaiserschmarrn war perfekt gemacht. Der Service war auch richtig gut, alle waren freundlich und aufmerksam. Insgesamt war es ein toller Mittag mit leckerem Essen und nettem Personal. Das Franz Ferdinand ist definitiv empfehlenswert!

Wir waren heute zu 3. im Franz Ferdinand in Bochum. Das Restaurant war an dem Abend relativ leer und etwa kühl temperiert. Generell ist es sehr hübsch und gemütlich eingerichtet. Die Stühle und Tische bieten auch genug Platz, um gut mit 2 Herren nebeneinander zu sitzen. Der Service war freundlich und zügig. Kommen wir zum Essen... Der erste Gang war unter anderem das Lachs-Tartar und das Hirsch Carpaccio. Beide Gerichte waren sehr gut zubereitet und schön angerichtet. Zur Hauptspeise stand das Wienerschnitzel und das Backhendl auf dem Plan, dazu gab es den Kartoffelsalat, Bratkartoffeln und Pommes. Die ersten beiden Beilagen waren eher durchschnittlich die Pommes waren für ein Restaurant überdurchschnittlich und die Hauptgerichte waren einfach traumhaft. Zum Abschluss des Abends hatten wir den Kaiserschmarrn. Auch dieser war sehr gut zubereitet und köstlich. Alles in allem war das Essen sehr lecker, jedoch waren die Portionen für gute Esser etwas klein und die Preise leicht überdurchschnittlich. Dementsprechend würde ich dieses Restaurant mit 4 Sternen bewerten. Ein weiterer Besuch wird folgen.

Als wir gegen 14 Uhr am Samstag ankamen, war es schon ziemlich voll . Aber es gab doch noch ein kleines Plätzchen für uns. Das Essen ist wirklich sehr gut portioniert und sehr lecker. Leider haben wirauf den Hauptgang 40 Minuten gewartet und dann noch mal 25 Minuten auf den Nachtisch. Also Zeit mitbringen, wenn man nicht gerade spontan etwas sucht. Da es auch sehr gut besucht war, war der Lärmpegel etwas zu laut. Die Preise sind moderat, wenn man mal gehobener essen möchte. Um 16 Uhr haben wir das Restaurant wohl genährt verlassen.

Auf Empfehlung mit Freunden hin. Ein Absolutes Brett an Restaurant. Von der Fußmatte im Eingang begonnen bis hin zu den gezogenen Silikon leisten auf der Toilette. Ohne Spaß - eines der besten Lokale in denen ich verweilt und gespeist habe. Service 10/10, Stil 10/10, Essen 10/10, Preis-Leistung 10/10. Allein die Tatsache, dass man eine 0,2l Flasche Cola und eine 0,2l Flasche Fanta bekommt, wenn man eine Spezi bestellt und man sich das Verhältnis dann selber mixt.. bekomme heute noch Gänsehaut. Wiener Schnitzel, besser als beim Figlmüller in Wien. Meine ich genauso wie ich es sage. Absolute Empfehlung. Werde mich durch die gesamte Karte essen.

Immer wenn wir in Bochum sind, Pflicht. Toller Service und Bestes Essen in Town.

Mega leckeres Essen und freundliches Personal. Wenn wir nochmal in Bochum sind werden wir auf jeden Fall wieder bei Franz Ferdinand essen.

Samstag vor einer Woche sind wir bei FF gewesen. Franz Ferdinand kennen wir seit Jahren. Dort kann man immer gut essen, habe ich gedacht... Beim Essen dachte ich an BB King: " The thrill is gone baby, the thrill is gone away " Ein paar Mal ist der Service sehr langsam gewesen, ab und zu das Essen meiner Frau nur ok gewesen. Aber insgesamt war alles immer fast perfekt. An diesem Abend war alles anders: Fleisch: zäh Fisch: ungewürzt Latte macchiato: fast kalt Wir sind sehr enttäuscht gewesen. The thrill is gone, €200 auch...... Kann nur (hoffentlich) besser werden.
