Very nice location on a pier on the Elbe, with the best view of the ships passing immediately; even just a drink on the jetty when the weather is nice.

We were in the bistro. The food and service is of course no comparison with the restaurant, but the place right on the water is just perfect!

After making a reservation in advance (absolutely necessary), we eagerly took the bus here. A table by the Elbe was already waiting for us. Friendly and competent staff advised us and we decided on the 4-course surprise menu. Plus an aperitif, water and a bottle of wine. We would be completely satisfied. And we also saw big ships on the Elbe... Rating ABSOLUTELY RECOMMENDED

Very, very tasty food, great location, chic but not fancy and nice service! What more could you want 😀 We chose the surprise menu with three courses and were thrilled. And we also saw the boss briefly. 👨🏼‍🍳 We'll definitely be back at some point 😀 it's a shame it's so far from Oppenheim 😟

Very nice staff, great atmosphere. The menu is not overloaded and the quality of the food shows that the chef knows his craft. We treated ourselves to the 3-course surprise menu, which was very good and mainly consisted of dishes that were not on the menu. Table reservations online also work perfectly. It was an all-round successful visit to the restaurant.

The location is magically idyllic on the Elbe! I recently had a larger birthday party in the Engel restaurant - the food was fantastic, the staff was attentive, very friendly and yet discreet and the ambience - as already mentioned - couldn't be beat! The price-performance ratio is definitely within reason!

A great location for a restaurant. You can watch many ships while having coffee or eating. The food is very good. Simple and uncomplicated but creative, very tasty and thoughtfully prepared. We like coming here.

Neugierig aufgrund der tollen Lage, haben wir dem Restaurant einen Besuch abgestattet. Die Lage ist wirklich beeindrucken auf einem Bootsanleger in der Elbe ... tolle Aussicht, insbesondere an einem so schönen Abend, wie dem unsrigen. Die Speisekarte ist eher übersichtlich, was aber nichts bedeuten mag. Zwei von uns entschieden sich für das Überraschungsmenü, zwei bestellten "à la carte". Die Speisen waren allsamt sehr gut abgeschmeckt und ansprechend präsentiert, lediglich der Nachtisch konnte das Niveau nicht ganz halten. Leider gab es keine "Grüsse aus der Küche", wie wir es aus vergleichbaren Restaurants kennen, sodass am Ende der Hunger auch nicht ganz gestillt war. Mit der Rückfahrt per Elb-Taxi hatten wir aber einen wunderschönen Abend.

Today we were able to visit the hotel and restaurant for an overnight stay. Price-performance ratio was perfectly fine. I found the service better than the food (which was really, really tasty). The staff went to great lengths to make our visit as pleasant as possible. Neither cutlery, commitment nor friendliness was spared. Definitely worth another visit for us and highly recommended to everyone else. We would like to thank you very much for the really honest and accommodating service, it definitely sweetened our stay. A big compliment at this point for the chef and again for the service staff, it was just wonderful all around.

We had booked the room at the back, there was a private party in the front. The service staff led us through the middle of a speech that had just been given. She really could have waited. Later she always left the door to our room open, not just to bring the food, which is why it was always very loud in our room. We had a person with allergies with us who called ahead to make sure she could get something of her own. The starter was green lettuce leaves without anything. I'm wondering who messed something up, there wasn't any need for a phone call beforehand. The food was delicious, but the portions were sometimes so small that some later thought about where they would go to eat afterward, despite the three-course menu. Unfortunately, they are not designed for children either. It starts with the selection of dishes for children. Pasta with tomato sauce or chicken nuggets with pasta and tomato sauce - seriously? Not even potato wedges would have been possible. The children didn't get any food when the adults received the starter - unfortunate, ours were hungry. They only got their food during our break between the starter and main course. So they ate separately from us. Not nice either. Overall, the service was a bit annoying because two people changed places between the main course and the dessert, so they probably couldn't remember where each dessert went. Instead of complaining, asking would have been friendlier. We had really hoped for more and our birthday hostess' conclusion was: "Next year we'll go out and eat 'normally' again, things will be better and friendlier."

Here you can get dishes that you won't find on any other menu. In my case the black-feathered chicken. We sat at the back of the restaurant overlooking the harbor. Atmosphere really great. The service was quick and friendly, everything was great!

I'll keep it short and sweet... Food incredibly delicious! Higher priced, yes, and every bite was worth its penny. Service is super friendly - you are simply welcome here as a guest. No dress code. Location/ambience directly on the Elbe is of course great. Sufficient distance to the next tables and pleasant background noise. I couldn't complain about anything... maybe the toilet cubicle could be a little bigger ;) I won't make it so short and would like to write something general about reviews. Sometimes I read other reviews and I also like to read those that completely differ from my impression. Why is criticism so rarely expressed in person on site? But only then can the restaurant improve something and take action. This also applies to hotels, shops, etc.

Food perfect! Fish soup, veal chop and beef fillet, pasta with chanterelles, all excellent!

We really enjoyed lunch for 12 adults and 5 smaller children on the occasion of a big birthday. The reservation of a suitable room, the great surprise menu, the good service, everything was to our complete satisfaction. Thanks!

Very nicely located restaurant directly on the Elbe. Unfortunately, the service was not good (long waiting time before and after ordering...), the main courses were overpriced (€50 for a fish dish/€40 for a meat dish) and unfortunately too salty. In general the price-performance ratio was not right.

Very nice atmosphere with a view of the Elbe. In terms of price, the restaurant is on the higher side with an average of €20 per dish. The snack bar downstairs is okay. Bratwurst €4 and Currywurst €5.50. Both are mediocre in quality.

We were there on Sunday lunchtime and we were positively impressed by the hospitality and the attentiveness of the waitress. After we were both seated, the menu was brought to us and we were immediately asked for a drink. The waitress also asked us to offer us a non-alcoholic aperitif and told us about the daily special. Starter, main course and dessert all tasted very tasty. The portions were also appropriate, neither too small nor too large and therefore great value for money. The atmosphere is also very nice, elegant and casual at the same time. Simply good food that you can't get everywhere!

When we entered the Engel restaurant around 3 p.m. on a July Thursday, we were greeted with a big smile; In general, all the staff are extremely quick, uncomplicated, friendly and yet unobtrusive. We also had a lot of fun having a nice, short conversation with the owner. Dear Tarik Rose, keep your authentic, warm manner, which is immediately noticeable in your interactions with your employees. Unfortunately, this is far too rare. We immediately decided on the fish soup with saffron; served with toasted bread, parmesan and rouille sauce. The main course was white halibut with orange-fennel vegetables, gnocchi and crustacean foam. It was a poem: crisp, fresh and tender. In our opinion, they increased the amount of saffron to the maximum limit - as noted on the map - but hit it exactly: a bomb! You pay good money for very high quality. Totally appropriate. So if you miss the salt shaker on the table you probably won't be completely happy here, everyone else should definitely treat themselves to a visit to the Engel restaurant. The two of us definitely went our separate ways very happily after this excellent hospitality and will certainly not be our guests for the last time. The route from Erfurt isn't too far for us either.

Yesterday I had dinner in a restaurant with a friend and everything was perfect. The relaxed location on the water, the service and, last but not least, the food, which surprised me very positively. Details like a beetroot with a smoky aroma or the fact that all flavors have found their place on one plate. It was simply delicious. Thanks to Tarik Rose & team, I'll be happy to come back.

We celebrated my mother's 80th birthday in this lovely restaurant last night. We all felt very comfortable. The surprise menu was incredibly delicious!!! With lots of flavor explosions!!! Our two vegans were also looked after fantastically!!! Many thanks also to Mr. Tarek Rose for congratulating my mother so nicely. We would all be happy to come back, but then with the entire family…

We only got a table in the anteroom by the door, not in the nicer inner area. The food was of poor quality and outrageously expensive. The service was intrusive - we were asked 5 times if we wanted more drinks.

Very nice, rather small restaurant with a panoramic view of the Elbe. The "Engel" is located on a ferry pier on the Elbe. When larger ships pass by or ferries dock, the waves can also be felt in the guest room. And especially at sunset, a unique lighting atmosphere is created in the all-glass building. We really enjoyed chef Tarik Rose's dishes. I would like to highlight the creamy, not clear fish soup. Incredibly full-bodied in taste and with plenty of ingredients. The beef fillet on baked cauliflower and mashed potatoes was also a delight. All the dishes we had were perfectly balanced and tasted harmoniously. Sometimes close to the pepper and salt limit, but always within limits. The highlight of the dessert: the sweet crème brûlée, which was wonderfully counteracted by a sour rhubarb sorbet. The service is extremely friendly and attentive, and the prices are fair considering the location and quality. If we are in the area, we would come back at any time.

Unfortunately, I can't quite get into the praises. The location of the restaurant on the Elbe is perfect, but the food left us disappointed. T. disappointed. Given the price category, we simply expected more. My surprise menu was very good, but: the tartare was too salty, the halibut was dry, and the pasta tasted like nothing. A pity.

On Sunday afternoon, I visited this charming restaurant with a stunning view of the Elbe River. The gentle waves created by approaching ships added a serene touch to the ambiance. The highlight was the delightful strawberry cake, perfectly balanced in sweetness and texture, accompanied by a comforting cup of warm tea. The combination of scenic beauty and delicious treats made for a truly memorable experience. I enjoyed for relaxing the afternoon here.

The location alone makes it a very special place - you sit with a great view over the Elbe and the ferries to Finkenwerder leave below you. The whole thing is topped off by excellent food and exceptional service! Here you feel pampered with all your senses!

A special place with even more special cuisine! We were invited to a very good friend's birthday and were greeted very warmly. Every dish was prepared with a lot of love, the wine accompaniment was simply brilliantly combined! Always happy...when we are in Hamburg!

All expectations were more than met. I found Mr. Rose very likeable back in the Beef Buddies era. Now we were in Hamburg again for a short trip and I really wanted to take the opportunity and eat in his restaurant. It was absolutely fantastic. From the service to the individual courses. The boss also came into the restaurant briefly, but was probably in a bad mood and left faster than he came. Regardless, I will definitely come back for the food when I get the chance.

The view of the Elbe alone is worth a visit to Cafe Engel

Char tartare here, the coriander overwhelmed the taste of the fish. Fish soup was gritty instead of velvety on the finish. Lamb was done rather than medium rare. Service from the young waiter was mediocre. Bread and butter was previously forgotten. The joy of getting a table at the beginning turned into bitter disappointment. We had a very enjoyable evening at the "Engel". The pear/parsnip soup was very aromatic, the halibut that followed was wonderfully cooked and served with tasty side dishes. The final dulcey cream was very intense, but a bit too powerful for my taste. The meal was accompanied by an excellent Pouilly Fume and a Rieslaner Beerenauslese. The service was characterized by impressive friendliness and was also very competent and attentive. We felt very comfortable in the "Engel", including a little "wine puzzle" at the end with an amazing result (rose wine made from Pinot Gris grapes...). Thank you!

Great restaurant by star chef Tarik Rose with excellent, regional, seasonal cuisine and very good, very friendly service. A perfect place to relax and linger. There are two “shifts” - 5:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. If you still want some “room” to get back, you should book the second shift. It wasn't the last time we were there!

The location of the restaurant is simply fantastic, you feel like you are on a ship. When the lights of the passing boats are reflected in the water in the evening, it becomes romantic. Eating is an experience; I have rarely had such a depth of flavor on my tongue. And to top it off, when the boss of the house drops by to have a casual chat as if you've known each other for a long time, then you go home very happy.

Wir waren Ostern hier zum Abendessen. Ort und Blick direkt am Fähranleger sind legendär. Die Karte ist klein aber sehr interessant und es gibt auch die Möglichkeit eines Überraschungsmenüs. Der Skrei war hervorragend, der Service zuvorkommend, wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Preise liegen eher im oberen Bereich, Brot wird extra berechnet.

Bewahren nach kurzfristiger Anmeldung abends zu zweit im dem Lokal. Das Essen war vorzüglich. Die Bedienung aufmerksam. Die angebotenen Weine waren ebenfalls ausgezeichnet. Ich habe noch nie in meinem Leben so eine gute Sellerieschaumsuppe gegessen. Gerne weiter so:

Wie jedesmal ein Highlight während der Internorga war das Abendessen mit Geschäftspartnern im Engel. Vorspeise: Die Fischsuppe mit viel Safran, Röstbrot, Parmesan & Sauce Rouille war angenehm würzig und gehaltvoll. Perfekt, dass die Auswahl zwischen kleiner Portion als Vor- oder großer als Hauptspeise besteht. Auch der Hauptgang war köstlich: Auf der Haut gebratenes Skrei-Filet (Winterkabeljau)mit Kartoffel-Lauchpürree, Kapern & Rote-Bete-Dill-Salat. Zum krönenden Abschluss teilten wir uns Crème Brûlée mit hausgemachtem Sorbet&Mandelkrokant und Blonde Dulcey-Creme von Valrhona mit Quitten & Haselnuss. Alles großsrtig, besonders die helle Schokoladencreme hatte es uns angetan. Man schmeckt einfach die Hochwertigkeit der Zutaten und die Leidenschaft für bodenständige, ehrliche und dennoch raffinierte Küche. Besonders gefallen hat uns auch die angenehme Atmosphäre, die nicht zuletzt durch das charmante, humorvolle Serviceteam mitgeprägt wird. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Allein die Lokation und der Ausblick auf die Elbe sind einen Besuch wert. Sehr aufmerksamer Service und eine gekonnte Küche runden unser sehr positives Gesamtbild ab. Die Anreise aus Greven hat sich gelohnt, wir werden ganz sicher einmal wiederkommen.

We would like to thank the entire team at Restaurant Engel for our perfect wedding celebration. Especially with Juliane and Tarik, of course! We celebrated our wedding in the Engel Restaurant with around 80 guests in the summer. Juliane really took all of our wishes (and much more) into account and everything was perfectly organized. We didn't have to worry about anything on this exciting day. The staff was great in dealing with us and our guests. From our point of view, the ambience couldn't be beat!!! The same goes for the food, of course. We have been to many weddings in many different places and countries. We would definitely celebrate there again without hesitation! Thanks alot!!! Loved it here! Friendly service, stylish decoration and beautiful views across the river. We only came for cake & coffee but the food also smelled delicious. Due to the location on the water the entire ponton moves a little - those very sensitive to motion sickness may notice.

Wir haben einen wunderschönen Abend im Restaurant Engel verbracht. Das winterliche Cross Over Menü war wirklich Spitze. Vom ersten bis zum letzten Bissen absolut geschmackvoll und toll hergerichtet. Der Service war äußerst zuvorkommend und der Ausblick auf die großen Pötte, die vorbeischippern ist einmalig. Allerdings muss man manchmal seefest sein, wenn die Boote anlegen ;) Danke für den tollen Abend.

Als alter Beef Buddies- und Ernährungs-Docs Fan stand es für mich außer Frage, dass ich bei meinem Besuch in Hamburg das Restaurant von Tarik Rose besuche. All meine Erwartungen wurden zur vollsten Zufriedenheit erfüllt. Meine Begleitung und ich wählten das Überraschungsmenü, welches einfach unfassbar lecker war. Von Pastrami, über Riesengarnele, bis zur Ente war alles dabei, was Wasser, Land und Luft zu bieten hat. (Mein absoluter Favorit war die Garnele. Ich sage nur "Zungenorgasmus" pur.) ;-) Auch das Desert war ein kleiner Traum. Ich hoffe sehr, dass Herr Rose das Restaurant noch eine Weile führen wird, denn eines ist ganz sicher... wir kommen wieder!

Ausgezeichnetes Essen. Gut aufeinander abgestimmte Gänge. Tolle Lage. Der Küchenchef versteht sein Handwerk. Bravo.

Waren das erstemal im engel .... wir waren zu zehnt und alles hat super funktioniert, obwohl sehr viel Trubel im Restaurant herrschte. Sehr feines leckeres Essen und aufmerksamer Service. Waren alle begeistert und wir kommen bestimmt nocheinmal wieder. Kompliment an das gesamte Team 👍

Wir waren gestern zum winterlichen Nordic Crossover Menü im Engel. Wie immer, tolles Ambiente direkt am Wasser. Unschlagbar. Die Vorspeise mit Kürbisvariationen und die anschließende Kürbiscremesuppe waren absolut genial. Die Ente mit Knödel und Rotkohl waren gut. Die Qualität der Ente sehr gut, der Rotkohl sehr fein. Der Knödel hat mich persönlich enttäuscht und es gab leider kaum Jus. Insgesamt aber ein guter Gang. Die große Enttäuschung war leider das Dessert. Ein Zimtparfait was ziemlich geschmacklsneutral war und auch das angekündigte zweierlei (?) von Pflaumen konnte nicht überzeugen. Zumal ich nicht entdecken konnte, wo das "zweierlei" war. Das Serviceteam war super freundlich und aufmerksam und aufgrund unseres Hinweises zum Dessert bekamen wir dann eine extra Portion der abschließenden ausgezeichneten Schokoladen Trüffel. Für mich als begeistertem Weintrinker war die Weinkarte überschaubar und mit viel Potential nach oben. Ich habe lieber ein leckeres Jever Pils getrunken. Insgesamt war es ein schöner Abend und ich hätte Tarek meine Anmerkungen gerne persönlich gegeben, aber leider kam er ausgerechnet nicht an unseren Tisch. Trotz Kritik, die konstruktiv gemeint ist, ist das Engel in jedem Fall einen und auch mehrere Besuche wert.

Ehrliche regionale qualitativ sehr gute Küche. Geschmacklich 1a! Service sehr zuvorkommend. Einzig die Geräuschkulisse ist etwas unangenehm, weil eskeinerlei Schallschutz gibt. Trotzdem sehr zu empfehlen, wenn man die Hörgeräte leiser stellt!

Tolles Essen, super Lage mit Blick auf die Elbe und gut mit der HVV Fähre zu erreichen (selbstverständlich auch mit einem Fahrzeug) Die Servicekräfte sind aufmerksam und vom Fach, dass merkt man deutlich. Die Lautstärke ist das einzige Negativmerkmal, wenn das Restaurant voll ist, kann man seinen Tischnachbarn kaum verstehen. Allerdings waren wir eine geschlossene Gesellschaft und deshalb war es bis auf den letzten Platz besetzt.

Kleines Restaurant unmittelbar am Fähranleger. Leckeres Essen bei netter Atmosphäre und ausgezeichnetem Wein. In allem sehr stimmig.

Es war ein sehr schöner Abend mit Blick auf die Elbe und den dortigen Verkehr. Wir wählten das 4 Gang Menue mit Fjordforelle und Ochsenbäckchen - Vorspeise und Zwischenspeise waren ein superleckeres Matjestartar und eine Raffinierte Pastinaken/Birnensuppe mit Topping- das Dessert war der Knüller - Creme Brülee mit einem Basilikum Apfelsorbet🫠zum dahin schmelzen! Die Getränke kühl und lecker, das Personal und der Service sehr nett und aufmerksam. Eine absolute Empfehlung, wenn man das Besondere sucht.Wir freuen uns auf das nächstemal und sagen DANKE für einen sehr gelungenden Abend!😃

Total spannende Location da ständig Fähren und Lotsen anlegen. Am besten bei Tageslicht. Sehr freundliches Personal. Sehr beliebt, unbedingt reservieren.

Essen super lecker, Tarik Rose sorgt hier für Gaumenfreuden pur. Seine Mitarbeiter sind immer achtsam und kümmern sich um die Gäste, so das man sich sehr wohl fühlt. Das Ambiente ist wirklich gelungen und die Aussicht beeindruckend.

Weil zu einem ausgezeichnetem Essen und einen sehr guten Service, immer auch ein tolles Ambiente gehört. In unserem Falle war das nicht gegebenen, nicht wegen der Einrichtung, pp… sondern einzig wegen der Geräuschkulisse. Dauerhaft gemessene 76-82, in Spitzen bis zu 86 Dezibel sind einfach zu viel, um sein Menü so genießen zu können, wie die Speisen es verdient hätten. Der Fairness halber möchte ich hinzufügen, dass das primär nicht am Restaurant, sondern am Tisch gegenüber lag, welcher mit 8 sehr lautstarken und diesbezüglich rücksichtslosen Personen besetzt war. Allerdings bin ich der Ansicht, dass zu einem sehr guten Service auch gehört, anwesende Gäste freundlich darauf hinzuweisen, dass sie nicht alleine im Restaurant, vielmehr auch noch andere Gäste anwesend sind und diese nicht unbedingt mitfeiern wollen, sondern sich einfach nur unterhalten möchten ohne ebenfalls „schreien“ zu müssen. Wie auch immer, schaun wir mal… wie es das nächste Mal wird.
