Restaurant DOM in Karlsruhe

Our visit to the DOM began with a starter and a small aperitif, which was very successful. For the main course we had steak with side dishes which were cooked quite well. Unfortunately, the steak was accompanied by a beer instead of a bottle of wine, as I can't understand the pricing at this point?! So I'm happy to pay appropriate prices for good ingredients and quality meat, but is the surcharge (and I only mean the surcharge) for wine higher than the total amount for the food? Sauvignon Blanc I (by Winning) 20€ retail price and 70€ on sale? For the GG and bordeaux/Burgundy sometimes over 100€ surcharge? For that money can I eat at your place again? There is no logic or proportionality to be seen here. I would have loved to drink a bottle of wine with your otherwise great food, but the surcharge for uncorking was too high for me. The final dessert in the form of an espresso martini was very good and balanced in terms of spirit and sweetness. Hence my well-intentioned criticism: Your food, service and overall performance are good, but it would be nice to be able to offer wine accompaniment that is reasonably priced.

Sometimes you walk into a restaurant and wonder if you've accidentally walked into a hidden camera. This is what happened in the “Dom”, where the service and cuisine are obviously intended as a provocation. Right at the beginning we were banished to a table in the far corner of the almost empty restaurant. After some protest, we were allowed to move, but with the requirement that we leave the restaurant after 1.5 hours - why remained a mystery. As soon as we were seated, the real “hospitality” began: every minute, we were interrupted in the middle of a conversation by waiters and the owner himself to force new recommendations on us. Our polite refusal was consistently ignored. The starter, a “salad”, was more decoration than dish, but at a price that probably justified the artistic presentation. The main course crowned the evening: a “well-done” truffle burger, which, with its blood-red appearance, was considered “rare” at best. When I asked to prepare it correctly, they just said there was no time left as our hour and a half was almost over. When we refused to pay for the untouched burger, we were even subtly threatened with the police. To avoid a scene we paid half. The conclusion? A bill that charged for a bottle of water that was served and poured to us without asking. The “Dom” offers an experience that you won’t forget – but for all the wrong reasons. Anyone who enjoys questionable service, overpriced dishes and unintentional comedy is in good hands here. For everyone else: once and never again.

I was finally back in the cathedral with two good friends. We were there for the last time in November 2023. It was great back then. Unfortunately, the level could not be maintained. A lot of little things bothered us this time. Starting with the waiter's fingers at the top of all the glasses that were brought to us. Quite a long wait for the drinks and food even though the restaurant was very empty. My supposedly 150gr. Heavy fillet of beef was tiny and unfortunately only lukewarm and with a pointy bone! My friend's burger was also lukewarm. There are more things that happened that we don't want to confess here! Overall we are quite disappointed with the store. Each of us paid around €65. However, we had to do this individually directly at the checkout. The reason for this was that the waiter told us that he didn't feel like walking back and forth three times. After all, he had other things to do in the restaurant...that was a bit strange because the place was quite empty. Unfortunately, this was our last visit there and we will no longer recommend this location…

We had a party there. The music was okay but there were too many people there. It almost crushed your ribs and made it very difficult to stay upright. Then I'm afraid there wasn't really a security concept there. When I wanted to leave around midnight there were still so many people crowded into the crowded cathedral that I only managed to leave the restaurant with great difficulty. It was basically just a matter of strong pushing and squeezing. It would be unimaginable if a fire had broken out in this room. I was really happy to be outside again. In addition, the prices were high and non-alcoholic drinks weren't even on the price list, you had to ask. I had hung my coat on a hanger in the cloakroom, but when I wanted to leave my coat was lying on the floor in the dirt along with many others. Never again.

Unfortunately, we were very disappointed when we visited the restaurant. The taste of the food was ok, but the price was not good. The service was very unmotivated, disinterested and unfriendly. Too bad Unfortunately, a lot of things don't fit here.

For my birthday we wanted to have a nice evening here with good food. When ordering the food, it turned out that all dry aged meats were sold out, which makes up about half of the menu. As a reminder: it was Saturday evening at 7 p.m.! When I asked the waitress she said it wasn't her problem and she couldn't do anything about it. No understanding at all! So we ordered some of the remaining dishes, which all tasted very good. However, we were neither asked whether everything was OK (standard in restaurants) nor whether we wanted to drink something else. My conclusion: a completely overpriced restaurant that in no way lives up to the standards it may have set itself. The service was, to put it mildly, reservedly cool. We will not set foot in this restaurant again!

We just really enjoy coming here and have done so since the beginning. Food is always delicious and absolutely worth the price. Service is very attentive and really friendly, with the necessary humor and certain politeness - absolutely great. The atmosphere is just really nice, the toilets are clean. Everything was very tasty and good service. The daily menu appealed to me - although there was salmon for the main course, which I don't particularly like to eat. The chef changed the main ingredient of the 4-course menu to a different fish especially for me. I don't take that for granted and it was delicious!

Unfriendly & no special quality! Me and my friends are always trying out different restaurants. Since I and my husband ate in the cathedral about 4 years ago and we were served very friendly by the staff and the dishes we had at the time were good, I recommended the restaurant to my friends. We were looking forward to the evening, but it was so spoiled that we didn't even stay until dessert. Service: The owner (we are not 100% sure if it is the owner, but that is how he behaved) was very unfriendly to us from the start. My child was there but he didn't list him as a guest. The other service employees, on the other hand, were very friendly, but were loudly criticized by the owner in front of the guests because his work instructions were not adequately listed. This was very uncomfortable for us and you could feel how tense the entire atmosphere was. (You can point out desired requirements just as discreetly and politely without doing it so rudely in front of the guests) In general the owner was disrespectful. As I asked questions, he turned and walked away. My girls are not all native German speakers, but they can all express themselves clearly and politely in German. When a friend didn't use the correct article, he corrected her in a very unpleasant way. He generally seemed very condescending. Food: Last time I chose the "Truffle Burger", which was good back then. This time my friends and I used the well-known grillages: - Irish Hereford roast beef - Beef fillet Additionally: - Truffled mashed potatoes - Sesame broccoli - salads etc. I had the roast beef and the truffled mashed potatoes. I didn't like the roast beef and I was very disappointed with the mashed potatoes! I have often had mashed potatoes with truffles made up for me in various restaurants and at Dom it was the worst thing I have ever eaten! I asked if the mashed potatoes without truffles could be put together for my child, whereupon I was told that they would be prepared in advance and this would not be possible. So apparently it's not freshly prepared! My friends didn't like the truffle mashed potatoes either. Since we just didn't feel well, we left relatively quickly. I was told when I left that he would normally respond to requests as it was full and this would not be possible."

We had dinner there with our two boys, the older one was celebrating his 16th birthday. We were also allowed to specify this as a reason for our visit when making our online reservation. Full of anticipation, we drove the 35 km to Karlsruhe. Once we got there, we fought our way through the jungle of parking spaces and, after searching for a while, finally found a gap. In the restaurant, which is located on a quiet, traffic-free side street, we were greeted warmly and given a table. We sat at his table with 4 other people (with a space between us). The waiter was very nice and had a gift for memory (complete order in his head)...so much at the beginning..... We ordered 2 x fillet and 2 x flat iron (shoulder steak)... Unfortunately, the meat was not what we expected, apart from a cut of fillet. It was sometimes tough and fibrous...and we paid around 200 euros for one drink each. We definitely expected more... Our actual reason (which was explicitly asked when making the reservation) wasn't even remotely addressed... why are we being asked? Conclusion: this time the appearance was better than the reality...the anticipation was followed by disillusionment...unfortunately we were a bit disappointed

The staff was friendly, but seemed a bit put together. The food was okay, although there are definitely restaurants with better value for money. A big negative point was the long waiting time for the orders, which had a negative impact on the overall impression.

Unfortunately, our food was actually forgotten by the kitchen/service and we had to ask after a long time. Still excellent when it came and the landlord tried very hard to make the faux pas forgotten with free drinks and a very understandable explanation.

We visited the Dom Restaurant again yesterday and absolutely loved it! The food was incredibly tasty and the drinks were a perfect match too. The service was extremely friendly and attentive. The surprise was particularly nice for one person in our group who had a birthday - she was surprised with a dessert and a small lucky candle. The meal took a while but we made the most of the time with drinks and great conversations A big thank you to the team and our friendly waiters who gave us a wonderful evening. We really enjoyed the great atmosphere and the excellent service. All in all, we had a lot of fun and an unforgettable evening. We'd love to come back again and again!

Had a lovely evening in a great atmosphere and great entertainment from the service team! For us, they have the best fillet of beef far and wide. The sides with truffles are always a treat!

Great wine list, starters very tasty. However, we had to wait a long time for the food, which was probably due to the large group at the neighboring table. Very suitable for a long, cozy evening.

A nice restaurant in the middle of the city hidden from car/people traffic. Pretty private, quit good service and top atmosphere in long summer evenings to stay in.

At the end of August, sit outside while you still can, on a car-free street with one restaurant after another. The terrace has flair, the restaurant is well attended but not annoyingly full. That's how I like it. Judging from the menu, they specialize in meat here. For me today it was “just” a burger. But it was great, really good meat, excellently seasoned, a classy burger. As a side dish, fries with a dip of your choice, both excellent. Anyone who does simple things so well shows that they can do it. Also: nice service, good music, it's a great place to chill out. I'd love to come back, but then I'll try a steak. I'm looking forward to it!

Unfortunately, the service has deteriorated massively in recent years. The last time for me today: I ate alone in the outdoor area and noted that the loud music from the establishment opposite (same owner!) was enough and that music from the cathedral did NOT have to be played at the same time. Listening to two songs at the same time is uncomfortable and extremely irritating. Nobody would listen to two pieces of music at the same time at home. The waiter with glasses showed no understanding, said that the music from the cathedral would not be turned down, became abusive and assumed that I didn't care about the other guests. Without trying to reach a compromise, he simply walked away after a short exchange of words. I had to follow him and only a sensible colleague of his intervened to resolve the conflict and put the music from the cathedral on display. No need to explain that it was the last time I ate there.

First of all, I have to say that I have rarely received such charming and amusing service. Ambiance: very nice. Aperitif: nice unusual selection Starter platter (was a daily recommendation): great Main course (entrecot): unfortunately a failure, meat was cold and I didn't see any really good quality, neither in terms of texture nor taste. Unfortunately that's not enough for a shop that calls itself grill kitchen, as I can get a better steak in every log cabin.

Went to Karlsruhe for a short visit and found this culinary highlight. We ate a starter, a main course and a dessert. All three courses completely convinced us in terms of taste and the quality of the food. The service was also very attentive and helpful, great. We found the location, somewhat in a side street but still right in the middle, very pleasant. The price isn't cheap at all, but it shouldn't be, as high-quality cuisine is served here. We would eat at the DOM - Grill Kitchen Bar again at any time.

Went to DOM for dinner with friends and were really looking forward to it; a friend had praised it as one of the leading steakhouses in Karlsruhe. First impressions were disappointing, rather average ambience; We would have expected much more for a restaurant in the top price segment. The air in particular was bad, no air conditioning, not even a ceiling fan; so we sweated away. The advice on choosing a meal was average for a steakhouse; I had had better experiences with Maredo or Block-Haus in this regard. We finally agreed on porterhouse steak on the bone, which DOM charges at 15.5 EUR / 100g based on the weight of the meat. When asked whether this amount of meat was enough for four of us adults, the weight was given as 1kg including the bone and said that we should all be full including the side dishes. This was a mistake, because in the end it turned out that DOM was not charging for 1kg, but for 1.4kg, which led to a final price of over 210 EUR for the meat alone. The total bill swelled to over 430 EUR, and that for 4 adults and 2 children (= 70 EUR per person). When the discussion began about how this incorrect weight information could have come about, DOM showed no form of goodwill with the abstruse statement that they had given the weight as "one kilogram four" (original sound); There are obviously persistent deficiencies in the communication of correct weight information. Conclusion: completely overpriced store with poorly trained service in an average atmosphere without air conditioning. What this has to do with a leading steakhouse is a mystery. For the price, I'd rather go to Frankfurt, Stuttgart or Baden-Baden; The steakhouses there are all on a completely different level.

My first visit to the cathedral was a spontaneous decision, driven by the desire for a really good steak. The “Steak Temple in Karlsruhe” appeared at the top of Google – and rightly so. The steak was very tasty, but some time passed without another visit. Then, through my love of wine, I met the sommelier and operations manager Emrah Isitmen at a wine fair in Ettlingen and met him again shortly afterwards at ProWein 2024. I followed him and the cathedral on Instagram, where I kept laughing at the wine get-togethers that he regularly organizes there. A video in which Emrah spoke about wine with impressive passion, expertise and very beautiful words finally convinced me to register for my first wine get-together. The wine get-together celebrated its 10th anniversary in May, and this week I'll be there for the fourth time. Emrah usually invites wineries to a wine get-together in Karlsruhe, where they present their wines and give exciting insights into their work. There is also a delicious 3-course menu that is perfectly matched to the selected wines. Every time I feel warmly welcomed by the charming host Emrah and his fantastic team in the cathedral. The food is always a culinary highlight, and the wines are excellent. As a connoisseur, journalist and copywriter with a focus on food, wine and sustainability, I love enjoying food and wine, constantly expanding my wine knowledge and sharing my passion with like-minded people. The wine get-together in the cathedral offers the ideal opportunity for this. Because as Emrah once so aptly said: “It’s the best thing to share your love of wine with like-minded people.”

In my opinion, price and performance are no longer in an appropriate relationship. Neither in terms of service nor the food. I was always happy to be there, but for 80 euros per person I expect the food to come promptly and warm and for the waiter to notice empty glasses when waiting for over an hour. We were at the DOM-Grill for a company party. Every wish was promptly fulfilled. Great ambience, delicious food and drinks, an extensive wine selection that leaves nothing to be desired. The steaks and the perfect service from Luca & Team are worth highlighting. Gladly again!

The old review was deleted by the operator based on false factual statements. We ate there in 2016 and the service and dishes were not good enough for the price. It was also very empty and just wasn't the "upscale" type of gig Service not culinary fair. Anyone who manipulates reviews and pushes their rating by deleting real bad reviews (historical location data should be proof enough) should simply shut down. This is distortion of competition and customer deception. Disgusting.

We were here yesterday for our first wedding anniversary. The welcome and service were very friendly and we felt comfortable throughout. The service staff are attentive and enjoy dealing with the guests. The price for the meat is realistically based on what meat should generally cost. The taste was good. As a welcome gift, a glass of wine was ordered on the house. We came because we still had a voucher. We'll be back because we were completely convinced.

I never do this, but I was very unimpressed by this place that I am taking the time to actually write this. I took my boyfriend here for his birthday expecting to have a nice experience on a special occasion. The waitress was extremely unfriendly. She brought us the wrong drinks. We ordered ceviche and the taste was horrible it tasted like nothing but Maggi broth. Ceviche should not even have broth! The main dishes we did enjoy, I must say, we ordered a steak and a truffle burger. But unfortunately the service made the overall experience very terrible. It is also a bit pricey, I would not have minded if the service and atmosphere made the experience worth it, BUT when the waitress found out we were celebrating a birthday, she could really care less, and continued to have an attitude . We will definetely not be going back. Not recommended for celebrating a special occasion.. I’d suggest to just skip it.

You will immediately receive a very nice and warm welcome. You don't have to worry about your jackets either, as the waiters will take care of it directly. The introduction to the food was also very interesting, as when we greeted us from the kitchen it was explained to us what we actually had on our plate. The restaurant is very nice inside and out, but the location is perhaps not 100% optimal in the evening. But it's really easy to get there by train. The food was really delicious and even little things were left out when asked. A dessert is also highly recommended, regardless of whether it is a large one or a smaller one. Overall, a very, very good restaurant that I would like to go to again. Of course it is a little more expensive than others, but it is even better.

It was a very tasty evening at “Burger & Bordeaux”. We had the DOM Smashburger Deluxe with a glass of Bordeaux. There are three burgers to choose from and, if you want, a delicious wine with it. First of all, yes, it is a bit more expensive, but very tasty and the ambience was also convincing. We sat at a table in the corner and that was very pleasant. The service is very attentive. Honestly, if you're looking for something out of the ordinary, then it's worth checking out. For dessert we were offered a crème brûlée and I couldn't say no to that.

The food is not bad, the wine list is good, the meat is very tasty. Service, in my opinion, lack of personnel. Full seating and we waited about 10 minutes for the menu, it was very noisy. But if you book a table in the red niche, I think it will be very romantic.

Had a company celebration here in a private setting. Food was very good. Service very accommodating. Unfortunately I can't say anything about the prices.

The hospitality is outstanding. The ambience is harmonious all around. The two of us sat in the separate room. The table is a little too small for two people to eat. My “Green Island” steak was cooked to perfection. The side salad was fresh, the vinaigrette was rather boring. The standard fries, nothing special (there is a lot of room for improvement). Overall we enjoyed it very much. The toilets are very well maintained. We think the prices are set too high. Maybe justified, maybe not. Oh yes. T-bone steaks were out of stock. Should be noted on the online map. A pity! A table reservation is recommended.

New pictures attached. 2019: It actually hurts my heart to only give this four stars. The restaurant, the ambience, the food and the staff are simply top. Definitely five stars. Since I only rate toilets with this account, I can only give it four stars. Because there is definitely something that can be done about the smell in the men's toilets! ;)

im Innern einer ehemaligen Kapelle ist das Licht gedimmt, es läuft moderne, nicht aufdringliche Elektronikmusik. Der Service ist hervorragend, selten wird man so bedient wie dort, das Weinglas bleibt keine 2 Minuten leer. Die Weinkarte ist vielfältig, dort fielen mir vor allem die namhaften pfälzischen Weingüter auf. Den Kopp Weißburgunder Lösslehm kann ich hier wärmstens empfehlen. Köstlich war auch der Trüffelburger und die Trüffelcreme zu den Fritten. Wir kommen gerne wieder und haben auch schon ein Séparée für unseren Jahrestag reserviert. Absolute Empfehlung!

Ganz gut, aber wa ren Sie schonmal im Brick and Bone?

Wir waren das erste Mal hier um einen Geburtstag an einem besonderen Ort zu feiern und gehoben zu essen. Wir wurden nicht enttäuscht. Das Ambiente ist klasse. Die ehemalige Kirche ist eine super Location. Die kleinen Nischen, die für zwei Personen gedacht sind… auch klasse. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hatte auf jede Frage zur Speisekarte eine Antwort. So stellt man sich guten Service vor. Das Essen war super lecker und auch phantasievoll Zubereitet. Der Preis ist nicht ganz günstig, aber dafür bekommt man auch einiges an gutem und frischen Essen geboten. Alles in allem war es ein toller Abend und das Restaurant ist wirklich weiter zu empfehlen. Weiter so!! Kommen auf jeden Fall wieder.

Stand 2023 Der Grund für mein Dasein war der gleiche wie in den letzten Jahren. Es gibt nichts zu beanstanden. Stand 2022 Ich bin einmal im Jahr hier bei einer Veranstaltung mit spanischen Winzern. Das Ambiente hat sich nicht verändert. Der Service ist gleichbleibend toll und die Küche wie immer eine Wucht. Freue mich schon auf das nächste Jahr Stand 2021 War sehr toll aber laut, was aber an den Spaniern lag die bei uns am Tisch waren und die von Haus aus laut sind. Essen und service war Top.

Waren am Abend dort, leider waren die Steaks auf der Karte nicht verfügbar (was ich sehr schade fand), worauf wir dann auf das Roastbeef umgestiegen sind. Essen war sehr gut. Allerdings lässt der Service zu wünschen über, mussten lange warten und saßen lange auf dem trockenen.

Einer der Top-Locations in Karlsruhe. Der Service ist fantastisch. Solltet ihr das Glück haben, von Andreas versorgt zu werden, so schätzt euch glücklich. Er liest euch alle Wünsche von den Augen ab. Er ist der Beste „Kellner“ in Karlsruhe.

Essen in Ordnung, Fleisch sehr gut rest okay Athmosphäre eher kalt, Personal etwas drüber (je nach Person; Begrüßung in 3 Sätzen in 3 verschiedenen Sprachen soll wohl gehobene Küche hervorheben wirkte allerdings eher gekünstelt und unnatürlich, Rückfragen zum Gericht wurden mit: Wies auf der Karte steht, beantwortet 🫠) unser Kellner am Tisch mit den schönen Nägeln war super lustiger Typ 👍🏼 Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmt nicht, da bekommt man für weniger woanders mehr Restaurant war sehr leer und es waren zu viele Kellner die dadurch nur rumstanden und auch am Handy waren Haben pro Person 3 Gänge 70€ gezahlt, wobei vor und Nachspeise sehr überteuert waren Leckere weine aber sehr teuer

War schon öfter hier. Bisher immer zufrieden. Diesmal allerdings gab es keinen Service. Die Dame die uns bedient hat war sehr freundlich und hat sich echt bemüht aber wir mussten für Getränke sowie Essen wirklich sehr lange warten. Was ist das Problem? Gibt es kein Personal?? Es gab nicht Mal Auskunft. Hier werde ich so schnell nicht mehr essen gehen.

Das Essen das Ambiente und der Service waren erstklassig. Hier gibt es rein gar nichts zu verbessern. Macht weiter so!

Waren zum wiederholten Male zum Weinstammtisch im Dom. Echt eine super Veranstaltung mit tollen Weinen, guten Essen und einer Klasse Moderation durch den Sommelier Emrah. Genau das richtige für Weinliebhaber :) Kommen gerne wieder, weiter so!

Sehr freundliches Personal und leckeres Essen

Guter Service, leckere Steaks, tolle Weinauswahl und tolles Ambiente.

Das Essen hier war mal deutlich besser. Leider! Carpaccio für >20€ kam einfach kalt aus dem Kühlschrank auf den Tisch und das Steak war trocken und nicht gegart wie bestellt.

Sehr schöne Atmosphäre.Bedienung sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend.Das Essen war sehr lecker.Preislich teuer, aber die Qualität stimmt.Es war ein schöner Abend und kann es weiterempfehlen.
