Restaurant Cafe Madrid in Leipzig

If you're looking for Spanish food, you've come to the wrong place. It may be tailored to tourists or German tastes, but to give an example: They have a dish on the menu called "tuna empanada," but what they serve you is frozen empanadillas of the worst quality imaginable. They are two completely different dishes and a true affront to my country's cuisine. End of review. Signed: A confused Spaniard.

The food was bland and lacking in refinement. Despite five different small dishes, there wasn't a single one that was a treat. This is probably why no one asked how we were satisfied with the food. We waited forever for the bill, even though there were at least five waiters quietly chatting behind the bar.

We arrived spontaneously and sat outside. The service was very fast, and they were always attentive. The food was very good, with a great selection of tapas. We only had an appetizer, and we were truly satisfied. We'll be back.

I went in drunk, ate shrimp and fries, a bottle of red wine, and some more. I came out completely wasted, but with a deep sense of satisfaction. The shrimp were delicious, the fries crispy, the red wine poured beautifully from the bottle, and a little more—it felt like lying under the wife's side. I walked out thinking, "Oh, how lovely that was." Ultimately, I can't really comment on the food or the alcohol, but the atmosphere was great. As can be seen from the fact that no one was rude to me or kicked me out—the staff were simply charming. And since no one punched me in the face at the entrance—the clientele was great too. According to the card charge—the prices are reasonable. I don't remember much of it, but the overall feeling—simply wonderful. 🇷🇺🇩🇪🇪🇸

So: a huge place, anything but cozy, unless you eat in the next room, which was fine. The meal took almost 2 hours, there were only 4 of us and 3 of us just ate. The food itself was good, but either the starter's table wasn't cleared or I missed something. With 4 people each having 2 drinks and 3 people eating, the price was 172.30 EUR!!! The prices are well above average, a shandy costs 5.90 EUR and a spritzer 5.00 EUR! Drinks came to around 40.00 EUR. But that still doesn't explain the total. The bill contains duplicate dishes and things that I definitely don't know and that none of us ordered. 130.00 EUR for 3 people just for food, respect!!! The food was good, service friendly, but the bill was a disaster! Be careful what you order, put the note on your phone and then check it when you get the bill!

Today we were in Café Madrid with a large group and it was very good. We reserved a table online and then extended it by phone, both of which were possible without any problems. Our meal started with a large tapas plate, which was very rich and offered something for every taste. The main courses are very rich and the selection is large, everyone will find something here too. The prices are more than reasonable for the service and quality offered.

The other reviews speak for themselves. The service was very good. The food is a cheap copy of Spanish. I don't recommend it. There really is better. More Spanish! If you want to have a nice evening with “really good” food, go there; If you want to eat Spanish, look for a better restaurant. I've been there several times now but it's always the same. Café Madrid offers a really good selection of food and the quality of the food was excellent. There is definitely nothing to complain about here. However, there are two major drawbacks: Unfortunately, the atmosphere is extremely loud, which hardly allows for relaxed conversation. The service was also very slow, so you had to be patient. If the volume and service could be improved this would be an excellent cafe. So it's more of a place for a quick meal if you can overlook the points mentioned.

Successful team evening with a great atmosphere and great service We held our team dinner here with a group of 35 people. The coordination in advance was smooth and uncomplicated. The location is great, the atmosphere is relaxed and inviting. We ordered various tapas platters – very tasty! A small recommendation: For larger groups, a slightly more agile serving approach to the tapas would be ideal so that there is a little more variety for everyone. The service was attentive, fast and friendly - we felt completely at home. We were able to sit for a long time, which rounded off the evening perfectly. Clear recommendation for groups!

Large and well organized restaurant. We went there with a large group and were served perfectly and quickly. The menu is a bit confusing and not a real Spanish cuisine. The prices are relatively high. The meat was fried to perfection and the Canarian potatoes were pretty bland

Hi. We visited Café Madrid again and I was looking forward to the tapas variations. I wasn't disappointed and it tasted great again. It's worth visiting the location. Fine food and good drinks. When it's full, you can tell by the noise. It didn't bother me.

In the photo you can see my favorite food and my favorite drink! We come here regularly several times a year and are never disappointed. We even visited twice last month. The dishes are always delicious and the service is outstanding. I highly recommend this place!

Schönen Abend mit Freunden Guter Wein und eine erfreuliche Tapas-Auswahl. Der Schinken war okay, die anderen Tapas richtig gut. Sehr aufmerksamer und netter Service. Das Restaurant war ziemlich voll, wir hatten Glück und warteten nur 5 Minuten. Toiletten waren sauber und das Lokal trotz der vollen Tisch erstaunlich leise. Gern wieder! Zu empfehlen, wenn man gemütlich mit Freunden zusammen sitzen möchte auf bequemen Stühlen und im Warmen!

Spanish restaurant where the paella mariso isn't particularly recommended (too much onion, too little squid). The tapas at the other tables looked good, though. Overall, the food and drinks are overpriced (glass of red wine €7.90, paella €25).

I had dinner there two weeks ago and the service was horrible. The wine we ordered was hot. We asked them to give us a cooler one or some alternative and they didn't give us any. My companion ordered tapas and any resemblance to Spanish food is coincidental and a Spaniard tells you. These have never seen garlic bread in their lives. I ordered Iberian Presa and although it was good, the size of the plate did not make up for anything since it was one of the most expensive dishes on the menu and the proportion of the plate was 20% Iberian pork and 80% vegetables and potatoes. It is a trap for tourists and people who have no idea about Spanish food, it makes me sad that people have that opinion of Spanish food.

No.. not with the best will in the world. We went to a Spanish restaurant in Leipzig for lunch. Yes, the waiter was nice and tried hard, but he talked about colleagues and sick leave. That doesn't fit at all, but he was completely wrong when it came to the "wine" advice - he only recommended the very expensive one without any ifs and buts and the food wasn't really good. You really don't expect "heated" dishes from a "Spanish". The ambience is cool and dark. And it was expensive too!! We've been to a lot of restaurants - but this was one of the worst. We're sorry, but that's how it is. Quality means constant quality improvement!!! Sincerely Ps we were in Magdeburg with the Spaniard in the center.. Cut off the window, he's great!!!

This was my third time there with different groups of people accompanying me - friends, family and colleagues. It is a restaurant for various occasions, I like the ambience and the furnishings and it takes you back to Spanish memories. The food is varied and offers a large selection for everyone. So far everything has always tasted very good. The price-performance ratio can still be improved considering the price for various tapas starters. All the waitresses are nice, but they all have their own individuality, which is not a bad thing and can make the evening unique. I like to eat there on a regular basis!

Non abbiamo fatto in tempo a prenotare, ma ci hanno comunque accolte e fatte accomodare con tanta simpatia e senza stress, nonostante il ristorante fosse pieno e fuori ci fosse la fila. I tempi sono stati abbastanza veloci, per nostra sorpresa. Tutti gli ingredienti erano di ottima qualità e le Tapas preparate bene. Da provare assolutamente il Chorizo cotto nel vino rosso. So I really like the food and drinks, but the look bothers me so much when I visit that it definitely holds me back from visiting the restaurant more often. Unfortunately, I hear this so often in my area that I decided to find a few words about it. I find it absolutely uncool in 2025 (even though there is unfortunately still no ban in Spain) to hang pictures of tasteless bullfighting and thus this barbaric animal cruelty everywhere! This runs through the entire restaurant and is a disaster!! There is much more to Spain than this animal suffering, which has long since been banned in this country! This is not a great long-standing tradition to be proud of, this is barbaric insane murder of animals for fun!! As I said, the food, drinks and service are great, but I wish there was just progressive thinking there.

A while ago I was at Café Madrid with a friend. We didn't have a table reserved so we got one right at the door. Unfortunately there was a draft every time the door was opened. We were also told straight away that the table would be reserved again in two hours. But we didn't think that was a bad thing. The only annoying thing was that the other table was still free when we left. The waiter was nice at the beginning but he couldn't answer all the questions we had about the menu. When we got our food we asked for bread because there wasn't any, it took a long time until we got some... we had various small bowls of tapas, we thought there would be bread with it. As time went on, unfortunately no waiter came to ask if we would like anything else. We will definitely be back because the food was delicious and everyone has a bad day!

We ate tapas together here and our companion had a burger. Everything tasted perfectly delicious. There was a great selection of tapas (also vegetarian) and the burger was completely convincing with its price-performance ratio. The service was very nice and helpful. It was just a shame that our reservation ended after 2 hours and we had to make room for the next ones. Would have liked to stay longer. So we ended the evening in another restaurant. This concept should perhaps be reconsidered. Otherwise TOP!

We were on a short vacation in Leipzig and were in the mood for tapas. So we chose Café Madrid. It looked very appealing from the outside. We found it even nicer from the inside. The service was great and we really enjoyed the food. There was a selection of tapas put together by us. You noticed that good products were being used and that you wanted to stand out from the crowd, which worked well. The sangria tasted a bit like soda, which wasn't 100% my taste, but tastes are different and there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. Next time we are in Leipzig we will definitely come back.

Nice atmosphere and food was okay, like 3+, but relatively expensive. I wouldn't choose it as my favorite place to eat, but you have to be there at least once. But we were actually there before the kitchen closed, so it could of course be that the kitchen was no longer quite as motivated and fresh.

We are Spaniards who live here, we came to try what it was like. We ordered several tapas, which turned out to be very expensive for what they offered. One of them was potatoes with aioli, which in Spain are always potato wedges, since they gave us 5 very small COOKED potatoes. The potato omelette was dry and for 6 euros it made you want to cry. The churros looked like toothpicks. The crème brûlée was good, but it tasted more like custard than crème brûlée. If you are looking for Spanish food, I do not recommend it.

Nice atmosphere, but unfortunately that's it. Juicy prices for average food and if it were my shop I would have fired the waiters who served us. Completely arrogant and inattentive, that it was annoying. We had to wait for almost an hour and were pissed if we dared to ask. So, for 100€ for 2 people I definitely get more elsewhere in Leipzig. A welcoming restaurant in downtown Leipzig with mostly good tapas. The quality of the dishes is very good and the staff is very accommodating, although the staff found it very difficult to advise us when ordering the dishes and unfortunately could not describe some dishes well enough. So we sometimes received the wrong dishes, or dishes that were prepared differently than we were familiar with from our many stays in Spain.

Great restaurant, rooms a bit noisy, acoustics certainly not optimal due to the high rooms. Food and drinks great; but it was better. The summit: When entering: "You have until 8:15 p.m." That doesn't work at all! It is clear why this is stated so directly. Just leave out such sayings! There are guests who leave early and there are those who take longer. Who brings money to the store???? The customer! I've been here several times and unfortunately I was a bit disappointed this time.

Verstehe die positive Bewertungen nicht: schöne Ambiance, freundliches Personal, aber da endet es: wenn man 3 Minuten nach Bestellung das Essen auf dem Tisch kriegt, ist es schon klar: nichts frisch, alles Mikrowelle (was der Ober bestätigte), matschiges (gegrilltes haha) Gemüse, zähe Datteln in Speckmantel, von der Mikrowelle gekochtest Kaninchen in einer völlig geschmacklosen Soße, weiche labbrige Chorizo ohne Geschmack, Aioli ohne Aioli, noch nie so eine schlechte Tortilla gegessen. Kenne sich die Leipziger nicht aus mit einem richtigen Tapas Vergnügen? Oh, der Rotwein war gut.

The mojos used to come with the Canary Islands potatoes in separate bowls, but today the mojos are already on top of the potatoes. Great children's menu for under 10 euros. Post from 2022 As always, the quality of the food was very good and the kind of attentive, warm service you rarely find these days. We felt so welcome here with 2 small children, there were even painting supplies and two high chairs of different heights. The prices are not cheap but worth every cent. Once again a big compliment to the entire team, who were always so kind and nice despite the full house and who conjured up such a delicious meal for us!

The staff is on the ball and was very friendly, the atmosphere is great. Unfortunately it was very crowded and - since it was indoors in winter - relatively loud. But the restaurant can't do anything for guests in a good mood. All in all, I can only recommend the restaurant.
