The place is highly recommended. Very original, professional, yet intimate. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and engaging. We enjoyed the food and, thanks to the tapas style, it was a communal delight. Despite not having a reservation, a table was found for us – thank you!

Good Spanish food with friendly service.

Whenever we're in the mood for tapas, we like to come here. It's small but perfectly formed, cozy, rustic, with delicious food and good wines. A tapas bowl costs €5, bread and aioli €1.50. You should definitely make a reservation in advance; it's always packed. Closed on Sundays.

If you love Spanish cuisine and the culture of tapas, this is the place for you. For me, this is the best Spanish restaurant in town. I'm a regular guest here because everything is simply amazing and the overall package is just right. The tapas selection is straightforward, but changes weekly and is in keeping with the Spanish ambiance and the small location. The quality is superb. Guests feel very familiar here and are invited to spend wonderful, cozy evenings. Stay as you are.

A very disappointing experience. We had a reservation at La Cantina Leipzig at 7:00 PM and arrived on time. Our table was marked with a "Reserved" sign, so we sat down. Nevertheless, the owner approached us and rudely told us there was a waiting list and we would have to wait inside – without any kind of courtesy or customer service. His tone was inappropriate and disrespectful. There was no greeting, no friendly word, no explanation – just an unpleasant feeling, as if we weren't welcome. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this restaurant. There are many better places in Leipzig where guests are treated kindly and feel comfortable. La Cantina is, unfortunately, not one of them.

Good Spanish tapas restaurant. Even Spanish beer. Perhaps missing, but that's a matter of taste, are a few classics like cheese, patata bravas...

Went to La Cantina with friends. We received a very friendly welcome and excellent service. The tapas portions are very large and tasty. The outdoor seating on Karl Heine Straße is also very pleasant. I definitely recommend it, and we'll definitely be back.

I love this tapas bar...for about 15 years now. Every visit is special. The service, the wine, the tapas...it's truly like a vacation every time, a little escape from everyday life. Make sure to make a reservation in advance, because La Cantina is so popular. I absolutely recommend it ❤️

At first, we had a good feeling. Then we sat in the back, surrounded by crates of drinks, and beer was being tapped right behind my chair. Not a great atmosphere in the back room. The tapas are okay, but my favorites at home are better. Unfortunately, the aioli isn't homemade. Genesis music was playing, and the atmosphere was nothing like Spain. We probably won't be back, sorry.

Terrible service, unfriendly staff, if you arrive at 8:30pm they no longer welcome you. The food is not authentic Spanish. It's a disaster, if you want something better go to Café Madrid in the center.

The tapas are great, Uwe always serves the guests in a humorous way and anyone who likes to drink wine will get their money's worth. It's better to make a reservation; arriving spontaneously is more a matter of luck.

The two of us were there shortly after 5:00 p.m. on a Saturday. Everything was reserved from 6 p.m., but we still got a spot for that hour. The waitresses were super friendly and the food was delicious!

Paid too much for 'pretend' tapas... over 5 euros for a cup of mediocre red wine?! Don't get me started on the cheese, olives were pretty bland, jamón quite on the dry side... just like the service. Not emanating at all the spanish/iberian warmth. The place though was nice, resembling spanish bars/tabernas. They have a nice lounge at Karl Heine.

Very tasty food, typical tapas, when the weather is nice you can sit in front of the shop. You choose cold and warm tapas from a list and then you get started quickly. Gluten-free options are also available, but you should ask if you are not sure. It's always pretty fully booked, so it's better to pre-order. The wine selection was also good, as was the service.

Thanks for the great evening! We were able to spontaneously get a table for 4 people and were very happy with our choice of restaurant. Drinks and the selection of tappas were great! We got a place very spontaneously because there was a cancellation and we were very happy about it. There is a great atmosphere, the service is very attentive and the food is fantastic. The wine went well and the espresso with the Creme Catalana rounded off the evening. We'll be back!

I booked a table for a family reunion assuming that the restaurant would look like the one shown on the homepage. Unfortunately, our table was in the back room between toilet doors and crates of drinks. Too bad! This spoiled our special evening and made it very short as we didn't want to spend unnecessary time here. We also weren't served the typical Spanish sauce that went with the potatoes. When we asked, we found out that it was closed. We would have liked to have found out about this when we ordered because then we wouldn't have taken the 3 portions. But the food was otherwise good.

I've never eaten tapas before, this was my first time. I was looking for a good dinner with my friend, we found this restaurant and went there unannounced. Despite the fact that it was busy, we got a seat and were served quickly. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The food and drink was very tasty and we also liked the selection of tapas. In terms of price it was also perfectly fine. We'd love to come back :)

In June, three friends and I went to La Cantina together. It was our second visit, because although we found the service a bit intrusive on the first visit, we liked the ambience and the tapas. So: second chance. Unfortunately, the impression from the first visit regarding the waiter was not only confirmed, but worsened. He was repeatedly abusive verbally (insulting nicknames - "It's just fun!") and physically (stroking the back, patting the shoulder, a friend was tucked in without being asked and unannounced because "she must be cold"). When I asked really nicely if I could order something to drink, I was told: "No, you wait now." When clearing the plates, he dumped leftovers on my friend's food, who was still eating. In the end we were happy to pay. We had a voucher and gave it to him directly at the beginning of the evening. When we reminded him of this while we were collecting the money, he explained to us in an aggressive tone of voice that it wasn't true, crumpled up the bill, threw it in the middle of the table, slammed the card reader loudly on the table between two of my friends and walked away cursing. We were affected and honestly shocked by this behavior. When he came back he briefly explained that he had found the voucher inside. We told him that he shocked us with his reaction and that we weren't comfortable with it. He then said: "We have to understand that, it's a terrible hassle with the vouchers and that's why it's logical that he lost his temper for a moment." I emphasized again that we were really very scared. "Sorry, but I explained it to you!" Conclusion: The location, ambience and food are great, but it is not a place to feel comfortable for us. We won't be coming back.

We had made reservations for 4 people to eat good homemade tapas in a cozy atmosphere. That was the plan... A table was reserved, but not one for 4 people to eat tapas in comfort. The table was just enough to put the drinks on. Tapas came and the waitress started pushing and finally offered us a dirty chair so we could put our bread down. Tapas weren't really tasty either, it gave the impression that most of them were bought and simply put from the can into the bowl. We left disappointed after the first round. It's a shame that the whole Spanish flair falls by the wayside.

The two of us ordered both cold and warm tapas. The tapas are tasty to ok, the selection is very limited with just under 20 choices. Price/performance is reasonable for €5 per tapas. Unfortunately, the service is noticeably inexperienced, either all of the waitresses were with us in a short time or we didn't have the opportunity to order anything for almost an hour. Nevertheless, an effort is made and people are friendly. The ambience is typical of Karl-Heine-Straße, very lively and a lot to observe. In my opinion, the shop is absolutely not for discerning guests and palates, but it is a nice place to go for a casual evening with friends.

Nice tapas bar with an absolutely great location, a real treasure on a summer evening if you can get a seat outside and watch the goings-on on the Karl Heine. The tapas are ok, it was a shame that the somewhat arrogant instructions on how exactly to order tapas were a shame and has to eat. I would have been happy to receive friendly advice before or after ticking the order form - instead the (large) order was placed on the table and complained that it had nothing to do with tapas if such a large order was placed at once. It may be that this is not authentic. The sound makes the music, I found it bordering on unfriendly. Nevertheless, it was a very nice evening.

I like the small tapas restaurant, it is quiet despite Karl Heine. The tapas are very good, freshly prepared but if you are unlucky you won't be able to get this or that, but there is still a good selection. I always like it. I like the ambience. It is cozy, small and family-run by a German family. I often miss the Spanish music to add to the ambience. The wine selection is good and it is always nice to spend the evening there, whether alone or with friends. But please reserve in advance, otherwise it is not possible to get a seat except in the back part of the restaurant, which is half used as a storage area. But they always make everything possible and are always friendly.

Delicious wines to taste and take away (buy). There are small snacks, it's ok. The staff is very friendly and competent, even when there is a lot of traffic. We would be happy to come back again. The wine was actually intended for home, but the vacation must go on!

Food was ok, but definitely German / Spanish tapas. Lady in the kitchen was really unfriendly and stressed, which made our experience not too pleasant.

Food was middle class, nothing more (freshness and seasoning was missing). The location and ambience outside are fine. The protagonist among the waiters is, however, poorly cast. We didn't make a reservation, but we got a spot. It took a long time before we were allowed to order, even though the waiter obviously had time. When we were allowed to order, we were told at the beginning that those guests who had reserved would be given priority in service! Dear Sir, either you have space and serve everyone equally or you leave the free, unreserved seats unoccupied. Two-tier society when it comes to service is absurd and unprofessional. First and last visit.

Tapas for €5. Good wines. Part of the condition takes some getting used to.

A great restaurant with friendly staff. The menu varies and is very tasty. The house wine was also very tasty.

A great little place, quite authentic, good and at a very low price too. There is a star deduction because you rarely get a place, as everything is almost always occupied by reservations. I can only recommend to the management not to make reservations. Due to the high frequency of the Heine and the good quality, sales could be increased in the low, double-digit range as idle times would be eliminated or at least greatly reduced.

Very nice staff and delicious food, the only shop in Leipzig that offers white hot chocolate. The restaurant is small but nice, and in summer you can sit comfortably outside.

A real recommendation for anyone who would like to try Spanish cuisine and like tapas. The selection of these is not too exaggerated, you can always find something, even if you are a vegetarian. I recommend the sweet potato salad with roasted nuts. Of course, aioli and bread shouldn't be missing either. The sweet palate will also find what it is looking for. If you want to come during peak hours during the week, we recommend making a reservation.

Far too cozy, wine far too delicious, food too 😁 We stayed hours and glasses longer than we actually planned. Great friendly service, nice atmosphere and fair prices. What more could you want?

Hat leider wenig mit Spanier zu tun. Wenn Mutti zu Hause ein spanisches Essen macht, wird mit gleicher Qualität aus dem Supermarkt zusammen gestellt. Das Personal war aufmerksam und nett, aber eben auch nicht spanisch.
