We've been there twice now. We'd definitely be happy to go back. All in all, it was "great," highly recommended.

The schnitzel was wafer-thin and deep-fried to a dark brown. The "gypsy" sauce was creamy and had an indefinable flavor. Overall, not recommended.

A ship-based restaurant, beautifully decorated inside. The service is friendly, and the food is very fresh. We had salad and grilled salmon. The salmon dish could have been grilled with less oil.

We were there for the first and last time.

Beautiful location on the Lahn, according to the website the restaurant was open until 2200 hrs, when the four of us arrived, we were kindly sent away around 2030 because they were already closed.

Well, after waiting almost 20 minutes for service, we left the boathouse. The "restaurant" was very busy, with three tables occupied (each with a couple). These three tables were served by two waitresses. We weren't served, despite waving. They also only accept cash, which is why I wonder? It's good that we, as guests, have a free choice of restaurant.

Very attentive, friendly service, delicious food

We only had a drink here. But we enjoyed sitting by the water and enjoying the good weather.

With the new takeover in November, the restaurant has undergone a total change. Culinary dishes, a great ambience and perfect service make this unique place a sought-after meeting point in Lahnstein. It is recommended and also worth a visit!

Good food! Unfortunately, the drinks billing was a bit fanciful... Hence, each category was downgraded by one star. A shame.

After driving past the boathouse so many times, we finally stopped there. It's a really cute boat, cozy, and beautiful. The service there is very, very friendly!

We had delicious schnitzels. A plate full of delicious salad and delicious fries. Incredibly friendly service and chef (who speaks all languages). Highly recommended. Be sure to pay cash, though, as this seems to be required everywhere in restaurants. We will definitely be back.

We were happy that the boathouse was open again. The service was friendly, but the ambiance could have been improved considerably. The glued chairs, scuffed chairs, and dangling electrical outlets could have been improved. After ordering two beers (one of which was undrinkable), we decided not to eat there. It's a shame, because the place could have been much more, and it actually represents a great opportunity for a restaurant on the Lahn. We were unfortunately disappointed and definitely won't go back. Why we didn't drink a beer and left it standing could have been questioned. We were also somewhat irritated by the fact that no receipt/till was provided, and no EC payment was offered. We can understand the Tripadvisor rating (1.3 out of 5). The 4.5 on Google is largely based on older reviews.

Very rude, unmotivated staff and not tasty food

We waited an hour for the food, even though only two other tables were occupied. It's a shame that the guests who had been there before arrived half an hour after us and got their food earlier. The food wasn't tasty at all, and we even felt sick afterward. When there was no tip after the incredibly poor service, the waiter yelled at his colleague that no tip was given. The waiter then came back provocatively with 10 coins as change. One shouldn't be surprised by such antisocial behavior.

The menu stated that an iced coffee cost €4.50. However, they charged €6.50 for a super small glass of unsweetened warm coffee with a scoop of ice cream and whipped cream. It was way too expensive, and when we asked about it, we were rudely fobbed off.

After hearing or reading only negative reviews, we wanted to form our own opinion. There were five of us and we were completely satisfied. The steaks were perfect...the schnitzels were absolutely delicious. The salad dressing was incredibly delicious. We had to sit inside because it was raining, but it was very cozy. However, we recommend taking notes on your drinks, as otherwise you won't have a clear overview.

Nice to sit by the water in the summer. First time here, friendly staff, food and drinks lived up to expectations and were absolutely fine. Good value for money.

Where do I begin? First of all, the wines are only sweet, semi-dry, and dry. There's no further description of the type of wine. I had Jägerschnitzel, which tasted more like Knorr Fix or Maggi. It came with a small handful of fries... My partner had shoe-sole rum steak with overcooked vegetables and matcha potato wedges. After I pointed out that the portion of fries was very small, the waitress replied that she was just serving. Even after asking for a second glass of wine, she said, "Yeah, right away." A bottle of water I ordered never arrived, but was charged for. The argument between the chef and the staff was wonderfully loud and enjoyable. The ambience itself is very nice, but unfortunately, it's not enough. Very poor value for money.

On July 5, 2025, at 6:30 p.m., I didn't receive an order for my 60th birthday. Service was 0 stars, and we left again.

Review for Tante Lenchen (Bicycle Visit to a Beer Garden in June 2025): In Lahnstein with our cycling group. We were on a bike tour the week before last and wanted to stop at "Aunt Lenchen's" beer garden. Unfortunately, our visit was very disappointing. The waitress came quickly and immediately took our drink order without informing us that the kitchen was already closed – even though we were clearly still browsing the menu for the waitress. Only when the drinks were served were we curtly informed that there was nothing left to eat. There was also a simple sausage salad for €10.50, which was apparently made in advance. However, we clearly declined this extremely poor offer. Had we known this beforehand, we would have moved on – we were hungry and would have preferred to eat and drink somewhere else. The only impression we were left with was that they were trying to make a quick buck, with no consideration for the customer. The beer garden itself also gave an unkempt and dirty impression. Conclusion: Unfortunately, we wouldn't recommend it. It's better to keep driving if you want friendly service and something to eat.

Never again – unfriendly, inflexible, misleading prices, and poor quality Unfortunately, we had a thoroughly disappointing visit. Upon arrival – even though the restaurant was empty and we arrived 30 minutes before our reservation – we were greeted in an unfriendly and very inflexible manner. The greeting was cold, and we immediately felt unwelcome. The waitress seemed annoyed and disinterested when she took our drink order. A large bottle of water was listed on the menu as 1L for €6.50, but we were served a 0.75L bottle. When we asked, she simply said it was a misprint and offered no discount. She simply added that you couldn't get a liter of water for €6.50 anywhere else. The same was true of the Coke: We ordered a small one, but we were served a large one. The explanation? "They only serve large ones outside," that's the way it is everywhere – without mentioning the price difference, but in a rude tone, adding that if that were our only problem, then that would be fine. The food also had many flaws: – The house salad lacked Parmesan and cherry tomatoes, as described on the menu. – Pork fillet with incorrect side dishes, which should have been included according to the menu – but were charged separately. – Schnitzel with "four-cheese sauce" came with an obviously cheap pre-made sauce that bore absolutely no resemblance to the name. – The children's pasta with tomato sauce was also pre-made sauce, and completely over-seasoned. After we politely pointed out the errors, the owner and his wife constantly observed us and stared at us with downright hostility – which further exacerbated the already unpleasant atmosphere. Conclusion: Unfriendly service, lack of transparency regarding prices, poor quality food, and an atmosphere that made you feel completely unwelcome. Unfortunately, not recommended.

The seating on the boat deck is very pleasant. The service was very friendly. Vegans and those with various intolerances were spontaneously catered for off-menu in a very delicious way. The cordon bleu was also very good.

We were there on a Thursday and they only served schnitzel. There were about 10 different schnitzels on the menu but no descriptions... we then wanted the menu explained to us but the waiter was new and couldn't explain it (he was the only person who was really friendly) then a waitress came and said she didn't know exactly what the individual dishes were and got another woman over who could then tell us something about the menu after the third dish she said she couldn't explain the whole menu to every customer (not a guest)... The schnitzels were delicious but the boss was awful... his t-shirt was too small and his slippers were too small and he just shuffled around... a shame because it's actually a lovely place.

Unfortunately, it wasn't a great experience. The restaurant is beautifully located, and it could have been a pleasant evening. Although there were only a few guests, the service was overwhelmed. We didn't really enjoy the food, which was communicated. We then had to pay in cash and "settle" it on an iPhone calculator. A receipt was only issued very reluctantly because the food and drinks hadn't been recorded. The manager, who spoke poor German, then showed up and told us that he didn't care whether we enjoyed our food. When we mentioned the cashier (tax?), he felt threatened and immediately wanted to call his lawyer.

Everything was beautiful, would love to come again

Bad service. Long wait to be shown a table. The staff have the good seats. Left side in full sun. Half of the order was wrong. No one asked if everything was OK. No second drink was offered. You have to go up to the staff to pay. Customers are described as impossible. Four cheese sauce was sliced ​​cheese in cream. Not recommended. Location is nice, but no parking. Could be used better.

Fabulous meal and service, we had schnitzel and can fully recommend this restaurant. Relaxed atmosphere and a lovely riverside view. Definitely 10/10

The wait staff were completely untrained, and trays for drinks were apparently unknown. Glasses and bottles were brought to the table by hand. We wrote down our meal order on a piece of paper, and five minutes later the same waiter asked if we had ordered yet. Absolutely no overview. The salad advertised on the menu was a small side dish on the set plate. About the food: Zigeuner-style schnitzel had an unidentifiable sauce, with no paprika or anything similar. The taste was unacceptable. The schnitzel tasted of flour; spices were apparently unavailable. I asked for the bill after the meal, but there was no bill. Card payment was refused with the citation: "It says so on Facebook..." (literally). When I pointed out that this should be pointed out, there was no response. No thanks, no question about whether we enjoyed the meal. We recommend not going there.

Food, drinks, service, price-performance, everything is right.

I celebrated my 60th birthday there with 30 people at the end of April. It was quickly turned into a private gathering, and the tables were lovingly set. They treated us to a wonderful buffet with all the delicious dishes I had wished for. The drinks were well chilled and the selection was plentiful. The service was excellent; the chef himself opened the buffet. Everyone was in a good mood and very friendly. Because of the good weather, we were also able to use the terrace. A wonderful ambiance on the Lahn River. We would love to come back for dinner and celebrate there again. The perfect location for us – small but perfectly formed! It was a very nice evening; we all felt at home :) Many thanks to the whole team!

Unfortunately, a very disappointing visit. The waitress was initially attentive, but the rest of the lunch was anything but satisfactory. We waited over 1.5 hours for our food, and when it finally arrived, two people had to eat alone because the dishes were served at different times. Several dishes arrived incorrectly or were cold. For example, a rump steak for €30 was served raw, even though it was ordered medium. A sauce for the starter was forgotten, and the salad for the schnitzel, which was advertised on the menu, was also missing. When asked, they said it was "busy" – but a maximum of five tables were occupied. This explanation seemed unconvincing and did not match the service we experienced. The most unpleasant thing, however, was the tone of the manager, who practically yelled at guests instead of trying to find solutions. This further tarnishes the overall impression. We will definitely not be returning – neither the service nor the quality of the food is acceptable in this form.

Well, unfortunately, a visit to the Bootshaus Lahnromantik leaves a somewhat mixed impression. The ambiance is nice and inviting. The food tastes good, but unfortunately doesn't live up to the menu's promises. Pork fillet with Parma ham and Parmesan cheese with spaghetti - we were served pork fillet with cooked ham and grated cheese, and tagliatelle instead of spaghetti. The salad with fried chicken strips was ordered without cucumbers and with a vinegar and oil dressing - we were served completely overcooked chicken with cucumbers and a yogurt and/or cream sauce. The bruschetta we also ordered was not served and only brought out upon request. The service was always attentive - but unfortunately completely overwhelmed! Very long wait times for orders, food delivery, and billing. Overall, there's still a lot of room for improvement.

Jägerschnitzel with tomato flavor. Beer with ice cubes. Everything with dry spices and definitely not freshly cooked. Absolutely not recommended.

The food was incredibly bad. Broccoli hard, chicken dry, not seasoned, dried herbs, lettuce leaves not fresh, schnitzel more breading than meat, sauce for the Jägerschnitzel tasted like tomato sauce, ice cubes in the beer, long waiting times. Most of the food was returned and there was still no agreement on the price. Guests at the table next door weren't served at all and then left. At another table, rump steak was ordered, which was still raw. Absolutely not recommended.

We had to wait over 1.5 hours for our food and when it came, two dishes were wrong. When we pointed this out, we were rudely told that the mistake was ours. I'm sure I'm not ordering anything I've never ordered before. When my new plate arrived, there were no more onions on my steak but there were still onions on my side dish.

The place that seemed quite cold and uninviting under the previous owner a few months ago has now become a beautiful restaurant. Great decor, very stylish, modern and also comfortable, inviting you to sit there for longer. The food is super tasty and there is a good selection. In addition, any special requests are accepted and gladly implemented. Very friendly service and very friendly chef. We really enjoy coming, especially because of the incredibly cheap and very good offers within the week, which we can only recommend. We have been satisfied with each of our visits so far and have never had a single complaint. Always happy again!

After a beautiful day on the Moselle, we spontaneously ate there last night. Unfortunately, due to a large event, no food is possible. Too bad, then only one Kölsch. After 15 minutes the service (young man) came and said we could order something in 10 minutes. We sat on the terrace away from the party anyway. 3x Balkan plates…… The food came quickly and was very tasty. I (we) have probably eaten there for the fourth or fifth time now and will continue to come. I don't understand the people who write badly here. I am not related by marriage or paid for this review. I'm moored there in the harbor with my boat and everyone is happy that there's delicious food again after a hard day on the boat!

Unfortunately you have to give it a star, but I would prefer not to. We were there today with 8 people and were looking forward to the food, but unfortunately we were very disappointed. The food was cold, when we spoke to the waitress they responded snidely, saying he didn't have time for that. The chef ultimately insulted us as dirty guests. An absolute disgrace, we should pay the full price for the barely touched food!!!

Can you recommend this place? NO! Why? Today we went to dinner in a good mood on Easter Sunday. We were warmly welcomed and then the tragedy began. Drinks came quickly and were fine. The "starter" was a not well stirred ready-made asparagus soup with lumps. The only positive thing about the soup was the fresh leafy parsley. Then we continued with twelve slices of bruschetta for eight people. The taste was okay but it was way too oily. Now we came to the main course, you could choose between lamb with peppermint sauce and rice or pork fillet in a parmesan crust, salad and croquettes. All dishes were cold to lukewarm. The lamb was more bone like meat. The peppermint sauce was greasy and had nothing to do with it other than two peppermint leaves. The pork fillet was also cold and three croquettes also the number of pieces of meat went from 2-5 on the plates. After this course, which no one ate, we brought it back ourselves and pointed out the defects. The waiter then left us standing there with the words “I don’t have time for that.” After complaining to the chef again. He became aggressive and said "he doesn't need such dirty guests" and we should leave. We paid for our drinks and left. Never again and we can't recommend it.

I found him via Google. I have to say that. The maps that exist on Google are all wrong. We had dinner there last night. The owner who previously ran the boathouse quit in December 2023. The subsequent owner only ran the boathouse until October 2024. Since November 2024 it has now been run by a new tenant. After a nice conversation, it turned out that the restaurant was run by father & son and that they offered different dishes every day. The food was really great. I can only recommend it.

Great food and pleasant service

We were there to hold a small meeting with our motorcycle group, the IG Grenzgänger. I had arranged a brunch with the operator. Our expectations were far exceeded. Everything was beautifully prepared, everything was fresh and incredibly tasty. The service was courteous but not annoying. It was always refilled. I've never had chicken soup in this form before, it's great. We spent there from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The atmosphere is very nice, well furnished room. I had agreed on around €30 per person. Thanks to additional drinks, we ended up with €35.70. There was nothing to complain about. The operator cannot be responsible for the failure to deliver gluten-free pasta. The waiter even went to the surrounding bakeries, but unfortunately to no avail. The affected person had brought their emergency ration with them. So it wasn't bad and is therefore not rated negatively. All cross-border commuters would like to thank you very much for the great day and the great cuisine. My wife and I will try a la carte there soon. What I've seen so far looks very promising. A great restaurant with very good and friendly service and delicious food. You can feel the love of the kitchen. Thanks again, we'll be back

We spontaneously came across the boathouse. The service was good, attentive and friendly. The food was good too. The location is nice on the Lahn, but the ambience takes some getting used to with miscellaneous furniture and a mix of maritime-bourgeois-Asian-Greek decoration. We recommend 👍🏼

Under new ownership since November. Very nice and attentive service, attractively decorated and nice accompanying music. The Balkan plate is highly recommended, as is the 4 cheese schnitzel. The salmon was also excellent.

Mass instead of class... Although giant schnitzel and a mountain of fries, the taste was so-so. Food arrived at our guests with a delay. Pork fillet with mushrooms also ok, but just ok. No fuss with the spices or when seasoning. Service was friendly, but left us sitting at the table with empty plates for ages instead of clearing something away. Card payment not possible! That's not Homemade Lemonade either, it's water with poison green (mint) syrup, really bad. 4.50 euros for that is a joke. Often a toilet/drain smell wafted into the guest room, baah. There was no children's chair either. We won't be coming back again

The food is very good, a large selection on the menu, portions to fill you up and the price is not too high. Very friendly service, not too long waiting times. Great atmosphere and cozy. I can highly recommend the restaurant. It's a shame that the predecessor received such bad reviews and that they are still on the site. Wish the new owners all the best and dear guests.

I was here with my husband just for a quick lunch bite (he had a bedside table and I had some soup). We waited almost 60 minutes for the food and then it came 5 minutes later. In terms of taste, it was the worst thing we've ever eaten in a restaurant (every cheap train station kebab tastes better...). The prices are absolutely overpriced and even though the restaurant is on the Lahn, the ambience is not convincing. Completely carelessly furnished. We're not coming anymore.

Thanks for nothing and a failed New Year's Eve. Not recommended if you're looking forward to a nice, relaxing evening and have to leave on New Year's Eve without food, despite making a reservation early, because you simply pass on the pre-reserved table to people who show up without a reservation. A group of us ate here for the first time yesterday. Unfortunately it was a disappointment across the board. The reserved table was not ready and guests had to be moved. The food came so staggered that half of us were already finished and others still had to wait. The quality of the food was interesting but only average with high prices. Spirits are shown on the menu at 4 cl, but are served in 2 cl glasses at the regular price. This is customer fraud. Card payment was also not possible, but this was not stated. Unfortunately not recommended. I hope the operator improves this.

Unfortunately we didn't have a good experience at the "Bootshaus Lahnromantik". Unfortunately, the food was only mediocre to bad and too expensive, so we don't plan on coming back.

We cannot share the good reviews in any way. The service is not courteous, you wait over 1 hour and 45 minutes for the food and then it was still inedible. Not worth the money! There is definitely no such thing as a “reunion at the Lahnromantik boathouse” for us.

...great ambience...sitting outside on the deck until late in the evening sun...with a view of Niederlahnstein...wonderful...well... but: the food today was completely overpriced (baked potato with sauce, 3 mushrooms and tiny pieces of meat: 17.50 EUR!!!).. after an hour we were finally able to place our food order... our memory was filled with a rude one "I can't do everything at the same time" commented....underground....no, not like that...:-((((

Very disappointing! When ordering the dishes, a whole page was not available because it was the winter menu and was forgotten to remove... Ordered still water but got sparkling water because no still water was available... The red wine was sour and not drinkable.. . The baked potato that was then ordered was ultimately a source potato with unappetizing dips. The waitress completely ignored the complaint about the bad wine. It was worth a try but definitely not recommended!!

Mooring here for a few minutes until the lock opens costs €5 in April 2024. The contact person was the landlady of the restaurant, which is why it was posted here. It doesn't work at all. Avoid at all costs. Otherwise there is no possibility of mooring underwater. Then we just bobbed around until the end of the lock lunch break.

Framed by a road bridge with traffic, a railway bridge with very loud trains day and night and, when the weather is good, local guests with appropriate noise on the terrace, the place is actually only suitable for a one-time overnight stay. Guest space is located directly on the narrow outside walkway of the building. Local guests access the toilet directly. Shower dirty, shower time approx. 3 minutes for 1€!, mooring fee overpriced for the service provided. My review refers to the dock system from a sports boat perspective! I can't say much about the place; we didn't visit it. But we had direct insight into the rooms and behind the counter; but it was mutual! You have to be able to do it.

Such an artistic on-board hotel! It’s a pity that the way to the boat was blocked by floods!
