Restaurant Benedikt in Quedlinburg

On New Year's Day, we went there for dinner and experienced several surprises. 1. The restaurant was larger than it appeared from the outside. It had three floors, not two. 2. During the renovation, a great many original details were preserved, which made it feel very homey and cozy. 3. The waiters were incredibly efficient, even though they constantly had to run back and forth between the ground floor and the top floor. 4. The food was fantastic. Beautifully presented, perfectly seasoned, and absolutely delicious. It's a bit pricey, but every penny was worth it. We highly recommend the restaurant, the efficient and friendly service, and the food!

Hello everyone, This restaurant is a truly wonderful experience. You notice it as soon as you walk in. It's an impressive, charmingly rustic restaurant with a charmingly quirky layout. As soon as you're inside, a friendly server greets you and shows you to your table. The food here is absolutely delicious. The meat practically melts in your mouth. A huge compliment to the kitchen! Unfortunately, I can't give it more than 5 stars. The only minor thing I can criticize is the lack of local beer. But that doesn't change the fact that this restaurant truly deserves its 5 stars. It alone made the trip to the Harz Mountains worthwhile.

Absolutely delicious. We had the roulade and the veal medallions. The meat was incredibly tender and cooked to perfection, the side dishes were perfect, both seasoned exactly as they should be. The portions were also just right. We'll definitely be back :-)

The restaurant is very comfortably furnished, but unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. The service is very friendly and relaxed. The food was delicious, especially the shellfish bisque, which was really good.

Nicely decorated – but the way guests are treated and the owner's reaction are disappointing. We were here on Saturday evening (December 20th) after the Christmas market in Quedlinburg because the outdoor area was very inviting (furs, blankets, roses on the tables – visually very appealing). We were sober, alert, and well-dressed, and clearly appeared to be paying customers. We would have paid for our drinks immediately if that had been the issue. We didn't want to eat, just have a few drinks and wind down the evening. The three of us sat down at a table outside, in a way that made us clearly visible from inside. We saw the two young, male employees inside – and they saw us too. Despite this, no one came to us for quite some time. No quick note, no "it'll be a while," no invitation to come in, even though there were clearly free tables inside. After this wait, I, a fair-skinned, blonde woman, went inside alone to order drinks for us. I entered and was met by two employees who both took the time to explain why they couldn't serve me. Even before I could explain my situation—after my "Good evening" and "Hello"—the response was essentially: "We're completely full in here, we don't have time to come outside, there's no point in sitting down, we can't do anything for you." I explained that we only wanted to have a drink and then move on. I also explicitly offered to take the drinks outside ourselves and bring the glasses back in later to avoid any extra hassle. This was also refused. I then explicitly asked the two employees if they were staff members of the establishment, which they confirmed—and only then did I go back outside to the other two members of our group and say that we apparently couldn't get anything here. Shortly afterward, our fourth guest (my husband) arrived, having moved the car. He wondered why we hadn't ordered anything—and went back inside with the husband of a newly arrived couple (with a dog). After a while, the wife of this couple came out and said the six of us could sit inside at one table—which directly contradicted the previous statement that "we're full," even though no one had visibly left in the meantime. But we still didn't want to go in because we deliberately wanted to sit outside. Shortly after, my husband came back out and said, "We can get drinks—what would you like?" So he went in as a man, ordered—and an employee even brought the drinks outside afterward. Yes, we ended up getting wheat beer, a latte macchiato, and a pilsner, and we paid. This is important because the owner is publicly accusing us of lying. We are not lying. What we found unacceptable: – that we, as guests, were initially ignored even though we were clearly present, – that I, as a woman, was not served, while men were, – that we were subsequently publicly accused of lying without any further consultation with us. All of this could have been easily avoided: with a brief announcement like, "We are not currently serving outside—please come inside for a moment," a small sign on the terrace, or simply a sentence like, "Sorry, we were just a bit busy." None of this happened. It's a shame, because the place has charm. The way guests are treated—and the way legitimate criticism is handled—unfortunately does not. Addendum: I only wrote this detailed review because a previous review from our group was publicly labeled a "lie." Otherwise, I would have saved myself the trouble. Obviously, more context is needed here so that the process can be understood — and perhaps also so that one can reconsider one's own handling of guests and criticism.

Reply to the owner: Talk to your employees. They were incredibly rude to us, saying, "Don't you understand??" - and that's why I wrote this review. — It's really cutely decorated and in a great location, with an outdoor area. However, we didn't get any service outside at 7:00 PM on Saturday. The staff wouldn't even sell us drinks at the bar, even though we would have taken them outside. What's that all about? There are free tables inside. Are we supposed to go inside, order at a table, and take the four beers we wanted outside with us? Really awful.

The food was unfortunately very bad. The goulash was far too sour, the sweet potato curry was way too spicy and not listed on the menu. The waiter, however, was very nice and attentive.

A magically beautiful restaurant, with lovely decor and a homey atmosphere. Very attentive and wonderful waiters, who asked questions and took orders with interest and authenticity. We were truly very satisfied!

Unfortunately, the food was truly disappointing. We ordered four roulades, and they were all lukewarm and tough; even the pickled gherkin inside was still crunchy... For €25, it really wasn't good. They also came with lukewarm dumplings, a very watery sauce, and a very small portion of red cabbage.

A truly outstanding place to spend a special evening. The cuisine: top-notch. Flavorful and high-quality, simply well-rounded. The ambiance is quaint but with small, delicate details that make all the difference. Whether it's the Meissen porcelain of the dishes or the small flower vases on the table. The service: a refreshing contrast between casual attire and the professionally polished manners of the consistently young, friendly team. It is precisely this blend of unpretentious, fresh, and professional service, a cozy ambiance, and a genuine passion for quality that makes the Benedikt a place absolutely worth a visit. Many thanks for the fact that such restaurants, run with the dedication of everyone involved, still exist. Unfortunately, they are becoming increasingly rare.

Hello world! You simply have to visit this place! We did it yesterday. The guys at Benedikt are all so welcoming and make guests feel like "that one." Even our dog got a blanket and a bowl. All our wishes were truly fulfilled. And then the food arrived! BAM!!! We haven't had such delicious food in a long time. The chef here knows his craft. 😀 All this in such a lovely setting... Thank you so much for this experience. (And get well soon for your sore neck. 😉 )

The food was sensationally delicious, and the waitress was very friendly. The atmosphere was great, although it did get stuffy after a while in the crowded dining room. There was nothing to complain about with the food!

A wonderful, cozy restaurant with charm and a rustic ambiance. A small but excellent menu. The service staff is very attentive and friendly. We had to wait a bit longer for our food, but it was definitely worth it. It was incredibly delicious. The pike-perch with celery puree and mushrooms was divine. We spent a wonderful evening here in a beautiful atmosphere. Near the Market Church, we sat outside, very comfortably on sheepskins and with plenty of blankets, as it was quite chilly. The service was very courteous and attentive, and the food (beef roulade, pork medallions) was delicious, cooked to perfection, and attractively presented. The interior is very rustic and cozy. Overall, an absolute recommendation.

We reserved a table online, which was super easy, with a confirmation email. Our visit the next day was highly recommended. We had a lovely spot, the service was excellent, and the food was delicious. Five stars!!! We'd happily recommend this restaurant; a visit that definitely enhanced our stay in Quedlinburg.

Delicious food, small menu, somewhat limited choices if you're vegetarian, friendly service. Main course and dessert just over 30 euros. We ate outside, quiet and peaceful.

Excellent food. The atmosphere is great, located in the old town. Unfortunately, there's only outdoor seating. There were only two people serving, so we had to order food several times. The owner was constantly busy with something else. If you want something to eat (and, as I said, it's very tasty) and only need one drink, this is the place to go.

From the ambiance in the sunshine, to the friendly service, to the by far best fish soup I've ever tasted...a well-deserved 5 stars. Definitely stop by. They even provide lovely, unobtrusive background music. Such nice people. Thank you.

A quaint restaurant a bit off the pedestrian zone. We sat outside in a lovely little space. We had pork medallions with stuffed gnocchi and tagliatelle with chanterelle mushrooms. Both were delicious! The service was friendly. To use the restroom, you have to climb an old and dangerous spiral staircase (with a large warning sign). Downstairs, you'll find a state-of-the-art and sparkling clean restroom. Remarkable. What was missing was the option to order a small side salad and even more ice cream. However, the only ice cream flavor was the very best vanilla ice cream I've ever tasted. Very creamy with lots of vanilla – delicious!

Pleasant setting, inconsistent cuisine (excellent veal medallions but the schnitzel was cooked in an overused fryer). We had the unpleasant feeling of being rushed out at 8:15 pm!

The location and ambiance are fantastic, of course. But the food and service are deceptive. French fish soup with curry?!? A disaster after the fish stew. The pasta was only mediocre. And the prices were exorbitant. They really need to improve. The waiter was kind of funny. Rough, genuine, and very "Harz" (a local dialect term). But his service skills didn't exactly suggest he had any formal training in the restaurant industry.

Total rip off! We ordered 2 iced coffees and the bill was €17. Not sure where on the menu anything is priced at 8.50 for iced coffees or coffees, in general. Such a shame, left such a bad taste. And yes, we can complain at your extortionate pricing, that’s what reviews are for. We checked the menu and the most expensive drink was €6.50. This Restaurant owner seems miserable trying to insult people who are giving feedback.

We had the fish soup, which tasted good. However, it could have used a bit more fish. We'd rather pay a few euros more for a fish soup with vegetables, not the other way around. So there's room for improvement.

Excellent service and a great atmosphere.

An unforgettable three-course meal at Restaurant Benedikt! The asparagus cream soup was creamy and full of flavor, followed by the tender veal schnitzel with fresh asparagus – simply perfect. The dessert, the Benedikt ice cream variation with berries, homemade eggnog, and pumpkin seed oil, was a brilliant finale. The well-chilled 2023 Pinot Blanc from Schloss Proschwitz perfectly complemented the meal. The staff was very attentive, and the beautiful table reservation made the evening even more special. The value for money is excellent. An absolute highlight in Quedlinburg!

Based on the small menu and the fancy appearance, we expected good things and were bitterly disappointed. The food was unfortunately not good at all. My schnitzel was small, completely burnt black around the edges and much too thick, the breading was dripping with fat and anything but crispy, the potatoes were overcooked and drowned in butter, the asparagus was poorly peeled and completely inappropriately overseasoned with coarse black pepper. I think the chef must have never seen a real schnitzel, let alone tasted one, because this was, unfortunately, a complete waste of veal. The prices are also very high, far too high for these truly poorly prepared dishes. The only valuable thing about the food was the china it was served on. Very nice service and a lovely restaurant in a beautiful location. Online reservations were available, which we took advantage of - but ultimately, no table was prepared for us. It's actually a gold mine, but they're obviously not trying to make money here. The waitress had to turn away at least (!) 10 to 15 people because they were closing at 8 p.m., which annoyed the waitresses just as much as it annoyed us guests, as they were chasing away guests (or people who wanted to be guests) behind their backs. I advise against a visit until perhaps one day it's properly run and a trained chef is in the kitchen.

Nice, cozy atmosphere. Good but expensive food with portions that are too small. The music stopped an hour before closing and the waiter told us rather unpleasantly that we should leave now.

The outdoor terrace under the sprawling trees is fantastic, the asparagus cream soup, the poppy seed cake and the milk coffee (together ~18€ 05/25) were great and the fine porcelain tableware is impressive. We totally enjoyed our break here.

A very nice café with a small but well-curated seasonal menu, offering vegetarian, vegan, meat, and fish options. The asparagus cream soup was good, buttery, and with large pieces of asparagus. The poppy seed cake was a bit bland for my taste. The tableware is also very elegant; I like the shape. And the best part is the terrace under the huge linden trees.

A fantastic, authentic restaurant! We felt very comfortable and the food was amazing! Highly recommended! The panna cotta was one of the best we've ever had!

An absolute joke, doesn't work at all. AfD members serve warm beer and involve customers in unnecessary political discussions. We wanted to order food, coffee and a beer first. When I complained about the lukewarm beer, the waitress offered me ice cubes... there was a lack of storage space. I probably outed myself as Wessi because of my dialect and so I was cheekily and loudly accused of not everything being perfect in the government.

A small, fine restaurant with fresh delicacies. In the afternoon we were able to enjoy the in-house cake on fine dishes. The sour cream cake with currants is highly recommended.

I've always wanted to go to this restaurant because I saw it in a movie. And apart from one small thing, I wasn't disappointed. The concept of setting up and using such an old half-timbered house as a restaurant is great. Despite the stress that was going on, the service was correct, polite and refreshingly familiar. Even though we only had coffee and cake, we felt like we had arrived. The cake was homemade and tasted great. And we will definitely come back again. I only have to allow a little criticism. The curtain at the entrance needs to be checked again from all sides. Especially in the upper part. Otherwise, keep it up and we look forward to next time.

Food was really not good, I don't know how you can get porcini mushrooms to be completely tasteless. It really is a miracle. The game goulash was tough and hardly edible. Loveless. We won't be coming back.

If you want to eat out of a can, you've come to the right place. The prices are exorbitant, but the waiters are great and the atmosphere is nice. We've eaten much better at campsites. That's the lowest level to react to a movement like that. Dogs that are hit bark.

Anyone who is a bit positively crazy, like us, will feel absolutely at home here. Rustic atmosphere, top food and a team of young people who are very committed. Here the food and espresso are served on Meissen porcelain. Certainly a bit extravagant but very comfortable. Great Italian music in the background.

Everything is perfect here: location, food, drinks, atmosphere and the boys are really sweet! The demand is corresponding and it is better to make a reservation or at least get a seat. We'd love to come back!

We went to Restaurant Benedikt twice, once for coffee and cake and the next evening for dinner. We are thrilled with this small restaurant in the middle of Quedlinburg city center. The service was extremely courteous, polite and competent. The food was excellent, as were the wines... which explains why it's better to make a reservation here... we'll definitely come back next time we're in Quedlinburg!
