Everything was very tasty. The place was clean. The staff were very attentive and accommodating.

I went there for dinner on my birthday and was really looking forward to the evening. First of all I would like to say that the service and the taste of the food was very good, but €30 for 3 small pieces of meat, 5-6 croquettes and a couple of mushrooms in the sauce is simply a no-go for that high price, even if you can put together a salad to go with it. I have eaten at many Greek restaurants over the last few years, but I have never received such a small portion for that price.

We had arranged to meet up there with our group of men. The beer garden is very good. It was packed. The service was still excellent. Everyone was served promptly, and the food came quickly, as did the drinks. A great restaurant, we'd love to come back! There aren't many of this kind anymore. Therefore, I fully recommend it.

Significantly more than what the average Greek restaurant in Germany offers. Those who like it can order sumptuous meat dishes here. But there are also many other delicious dishes to discover. All this with prompt and professional service. Reservations are recommended on weekends.

Super friendly service, super great food in a beautiful setting. What more could you want...

The food was delicious, but it's Greek, so you can't reinvent the wheel. My portion could have been a bit larger, but it was fine for my wife. It's worth mentioning that the salad plate was a unique buffet, allowing you to put together your own salad. The staff was on the ball, and the restaurant was busy. The place itself was well decorated. I think the prices are reasonable, too.

We ate here as part of our camp city tour – and we were fully dressed: from a majestic sunflower to a slightly disoriented dinosaur to a whole host of Greek goddesses. Despite this (or perhaps because of it?), we were warmly welcomed, as if we were regulars. The ouzo before dinner lifted our mood to ancient Olympian levels. The food? Simply divine – Zeus himself would probably have put down his thunderbolt to eat here. The service was incredibly friendly, fast, and blessed with a wonderfully dry sense of humor, which perfectly suited our loud and diverse group. The bottom line: You feel welcome here – whether in casual clothes or a T-Rex costume. We'll definitely be back!

I particularly want to highlight the Metaxa gratin – it was simply fantastic. I've rarely enjoyed such a delicious Metaxa sauce, which perfectly complemented the other ingredients. The service was also excellent. The staff were extremely polite and accommodating, which made the visit even more enjoyable. The ambiance at Restaurant Athen was very pleasant and contributed to the cozy atmosphere you'd expect from a Greek restaurant. Overall, I highly recommend Restaurant Athen. It was an all-round successful experience that I would gladly repeat!

They even served ouzo at the table several times (free of charge) and extra bread because we had a bit too much tzatziki. The food was absolutely outstanding. The service was first-class. I come here once a year. My daughter lives in the area. I love the food, the atmosphere, and the service here. This visit with my daughter was very spontaneous because it wasn't clear until the very end whether my mom would be coming with us. I was able to entice her by coming here. Everything was as usual. Service, atmosphere, food. Everything was top-notch. I was looking forward to the meal after traveling 500 km. Unfortunately... there were guests sitting opposite us with their dogs. They must have been friends of the owner. They let their dogs sit on the table several times. Because they thought it was cute, they took pictures and even invited the dog onto the table. Both the manager and the staff overlooked it. I'm a dog owner myself, but that's completely unacceptable. Afterwards, new guests came in who had eaten there. Perhaps they should pay attention to this and also point out to regular guests or friends that some behavior is simply a no-go.

Great food and ambiance. Cloth napkins and tablecloths. Be sure to try the tzatziki as a starter (one portion is enough for two people). The fried anchovies as a main course are highly recommended. Regular main courses include a salad from the buffet. The salad buffet selection is excellent. May 2025 - Repeat customer, this time with two vegetarian options. It was excellent. And where can you find cloth tablecloths and cloth napkins these days? - It was worth every euro again.

We had dinner today with 4 people. From the starter, to the salad bar, to the main course. Everything was excellent with a nice atmosphere and super nice staff. Gladly again!

Service top. Great salad bar. Had gyros gratinated with metaxa sauce. Very tasty in terms of taste. But unfortunately the gyros was too thick, partly tough with tendons, it was like sliced ​​meat. Unfortunately, after almost 2 hours you were asked to leave. Because the table will be reallocated again. So if you want to have a drink or eat dessert in peace, this isn't the place for you.

Hospitality is very important here: we reserved a table for 6 p.m. on a Saturday and were told that it would be free until 7:30 p.m. We were there promptly at 6 p.m., the order was taken, drinks arrived, and after a "normal" waiting time, the food - everything was fine until then. At 6:48 p.m. we had just finished eating the last piece of meat when the plates were already cleared away, even though we still wanted to eat the rest of our salad. At 6:50 p.m. the boss personally told us that he had reservations for 7 p.m. Immediately afterwards the waiter was at the table to collect - our glasses were still half full. Since we wanted to pay by card, we were "allowed" to stay seated because the EC cash machine was at the counter. At 6:58 p.m. we were informed again that we would like to pay because the next guests were already waiting. We've never been thrown out of a restaurant like this before. The taste was quite nice, but not really outstanding. It's amazing that a catering establishment can still afford something like that these days.

Been there several times in 2024. It was always great and the service was very attentive and friendly. Gyros very dry and lightly seasoned. Too bad. Lamb fillet was great.

This is how Germans imagine Greek food. The landlord shouldn't change anything. The place is always full. But that doesn't have much to do with Greece. And overpriced. Hardly any fish on the menu. Greek wine list? Unfortunately no. But as I said. As a host, I would continue like this if the guests thought it was great and paid the prices. Unfortunately, the food culture in the region is not worth mentioning.

Unfortunately it wasn't so nice this time. We were placed in the barren winter garden. The lamb dish was fine; the other dish fell short of expectations. The salmon was very dry and not seasoned (not even with salt); The potato portion was very manageable and they didn't taste like rosemary at all. We also waited much longer for the food than the neighboring tables.

The Athens - Apostolus & Friends is an absolute must for all lovers of Greek cuisine in Bad Essen! The team around Apo and Mev warmly welcomes you every time and makes you feel like you are on holiday in Greece. The selection of dishes leaves nothing to be desired, from traditional Greek home cooking to upscale Mediterranean dishes - everyone gets their money's worth here. We strongly recommend reserving a table in advance, especially if you are coming with a larger group. Spontaneous visits are also possible, but you should be patient. We have been regular customers for years and are happy to travel from Rahden (Minden-Lübbecke district), 30 km away, to spend a lovely evening here. Here’s to many more wonderful celebrations and enjoyable hours in this great restaurant!

Best Greek I know. I've been going to apostles for 32 years now.

We booked a table at 6 p.m. The food came, the other three liked it (my lemon sauce had the consistency of vanilla sauce and didn't taste like lemon, the meat was very dry, I would have liked to have said it directly, but I wasn't asked). Everyone ordered two drinks. At 7:40 p.m. we were told that we should pay now, there were already guests waiting for our table. That was not nice! And not even remotely communicated beforehand. It's sad when you treat guests like that.

So we've been there a lot! It was always great. We have ordered many different dishes and have always been very satisfied. Very friendly service. Of course it can take a little longer to get the drinks, but usually you are not on the run but want to enjoy the evening!!!!! So understanding from the guests would also be necessary. All of our friends and family members who were there were ALL very satisfied and enthusiastic. A well-deserved star award!!!

I find the rating of this place to be higher than what it should be. The salad bar, which comes included with a lot of meals, didn‘t taste well nice and didn‘t seem as fresh as you‘d want it to be. I‘d rather have a kitchen made , but actually fresh salad, instead. The main dish wasn‘t much better either, with the meat being more on the (very) dry side. And it should have been more quantity or better quality, especially for the price. Nonetheless the atmosphere was okay and the staff also friendly.

Greek food has never been so delicious. The tentacles were grilled very well and seasoned perfectly. The salad buffet is varied and well stocked. The red wine is wonderful. Perfect service. I'll be back.

The four of us had a Greek meal in Bad Essen for the first time and we were all disappointed afterwards. The atmosphere there is great, but unfortunately we weren't impressed with the taste at all. The meat (gyros) was very fatty and gristly and the Metaxa sauce just tasted like pepper and at the same time very creamy. Not according to the ingredients that are usually in it (mushrooms, peppers). The service was nice and attentive, but also seemed a bit overwhelmed. Unfortunately, price-performance simply doesn't fit.

Spontaneously got a table for two people during the week. Service was very nice, polite, courteous and gave persistent advice when asked. Food very plentiful and very tasty, beautifully presented on the plate, the eye eats with it. Salad from the buffet, fresh, delicious and varied. Location, typically Greek, with Greek music in the background, fits the entire ambience. All in all a very nice and cozy evening, worth repeating. Conclusion: highly recommended
