The service was super friendly, but I found the food mediocre, but that's a matter of taste. I find the place uncomfortable.

We ate here today as tourists. The restaurant was quite busy when we arrived. Nevertheless, we were greeted warmly by the manager, shown to a free table, the menu arrived, and drinks were brought promptly. The food, the Metaxa platter and the Aphrodite platter, were very good. And the ouzo, which was described as a missing item, was also brought to us by the manager. We can't say anything negative.

I'm sorry, but the rudeness of the staff and the manager, coupled with the substandard food quality, is truly alarming. The negative reaction to the justified criticism of the food quality, as well as the verbal abuse of his daughter while she was ordering, are extremely borderline.

Hmm, today was the Marina Festival here in Bad Essen on the canal. The tzatziki could be improved. The gyro seasoning could be improved. The salad was okay. Maybe something different today due to the large number of guests. 😉

Nice Greek restaurant right by the Mittelland Canal. If you can sit outside in the summer, it's definitely lovely. The ambiance in the restaurant could be improved. The unloved fountain in the middle, with the tables arranged around it, feels uncomfortable. The food was very tasty, though, and there weren't long waits. Attentive service. A small salad buffet. We'll be back anyway.

The seating is pleasant, right on the Mittelland Canal. The staff was friendly, but the food (moussaka) was terrible. Half-cooked potatoes in a mess of flour, and there were no eggplants to be seen.

And of course, not to be forgotten, delicious 😋 gyros with rice 🍚 or 🍟. Of course, there's also the famous Greek 🍷, sung by Udo Jürgens. So take a look and KALI OREXI, which is Greek and means BON APPETITE YOUR MEAL. Finally, I have one very important thing to say. Whether it's 🇬🇷, 🇮🇹, or 🇩🇪 snacks, these are dishes that are largely for enjoyment. But there is one dish that also serves for enjoyment, namely the ENJOYMENT OF ETERNAL LIFE. Nevertheless, it is the most important food of all. I mean the food offered by the LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST. Food: Tasty but not exquisite, hence a 4. Service: The staff did their best and still managed to keep up with the prices. However, considering the space, three servers would have been appropriate! Outside ambiance: Great setting, but no chair cushions. Not for middle-aged people. Warning! NO DOGS ALLOWED INSIDE. The manager calls guests inside during a downpour because they're no longer serving outside, and makes guests with dogs pay in the rain.

We've never experienced anything like this before! As a guest, you're not welcome to eat or drink. The staff is inattentive and unfriendly. Uncommunicative and unwelcoming. Three other occupied tables left with us because they weren't being served. There's no need to make money here! It was the first and last time we visited this Greek restaurant! GUESTS ARE NOT WELCOME HERE!!!!

The food was very bad. The owner didn't understand us at all. He showed no understanding either. We had to return the food and pay in full.

The restaurant is beautifully situated on the canal. The service is very inattentive, and the seemingly two-hour wait for the food is unbearable. The food was only mediocre. The liver was spongy, the tzatziki was salty, and the bifteki had a very strange taste. Another larger group complained that they received half-raw gyro and that the bill was higher than they had ordered. If you then complain, the service becomes rude. The entire operational process seems disorganized from the start, and even though only the indoor tables were occupied, the staff already seemed overwhelmed. When the outdoor tables start to appear, things get a bit shaky. There's no chance of us returning. Not recommended.

We often dine with the friendly Greek family who run the restaurant. We always feel very comfortable and enjoy the food, especially the lamb fillet and liver dishes, the appetizers, and the delicious ouzo. When the weather's nice, sitting on the terrace right by the canal is a dream. It's simple and unfussy, but that sunset... beyond words 👍👍 Of course, it's difficult without a reservation; everyone wants to sit outside 🤷‍♂️ and the terrace is often fully booked. So make a reservation 😉 And if you expect freshly prepared food and drinks in a very short time, and then a prompt bill, and don't like the family atmosphere, you'll probably feel more comfortable somewhere else 🙋‍♂️

First, the positive: The restaurant is superbly located on the Mittelland Canal and has an excellent outdoor area. The service is also friendly, courteous, and attentive. Now, unfortunately, the negative: My menu (Parga plate) was actually inedible, but to avoid any trouble with our small birthday party, I chose the best and ate it. The reason: Most of the meat had obviously been on the grill too long and was partially charred. After I subtly pointed this out, they apologized to me. But even so, at least a discount would have been appropriate. My guests were satisfied with their choice, but not thrilled. What a shame! Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it!

There were 13 of us for dinner. We had reserved a table by phone. Since the weather was great, we sat outside under umbrellas, right by the Mittelland Canal. The food was excellent, the staff attentive, and we could order more drinks at any time. I would come back anytime.

Simply amazing, we were welcomed so well and taken straight to the table. After we arrived, our order was taken and then the food. The food was absolutely praiseworthy, rarely eaten so well. Tried three different types of meat and I would order each one again. If you would like a beautiful view and very good food, you should stop here.

We got to know something completely new in Bad Essen: the beautiful promenade along the Mittelland Canal! Here we stopped at the Ipiros restaurant, very well maintained, nicely decorated, with a view of the ships passing by. The menu is varied, the food is delicious and the portions are good, the service is friendly and the prices are reasonable! Afterwards, the digestive walk along the pretty promenade right along the water! We're looking forward to warm days, then we'll come back to enjoy the direct view of the ships on the outside terrace

We were there for lunch on February 19, 2025 with 4 people. The owner was very friendly and could use a bit of a joke from time to time. The à la card meal came in a reasonable time and everyone enjoyed it. The portions were not small and the included salad buffet was fresh and of good quality. All in all a successful visit. Gladly again!

The food was just bad! The chicken was completely over-seasoned, the rump steak was stringy and tough... Gyros Metaxa wasn't sensible either... But the location is nice, you can definitely stop there to have a drink. I would advise against eating it, the price is too high for this poor quality and the portions are too small... After the criticism, nothing positive came back from the boss or cook who asked how the food was, despite factual and honest feedback. It's a shame, it actually has potential, especially with the location... I hope the owner reads this and takes this to heart. Do something with the store! Potential is there! (We were 5 people)

We've been there three times now, and each time the food got worse. Dry, burnt and partly already cold. Last time we wanted to sit outside and since we had our dog with us, we weren't allowed in anyway. After a short while it started to rain, so we were left sitting there in the rain because we weren't allowed in with a dog, so we got up and left.

There was an incredibly delicious fillet of beef...so tender, so delicious...you made me feel very happy and full when I left the restaurant. Thanks

I can't understand the negative reviews... We sat and ate well. The staff was very nice and friendly, the food was tasty and ouzo was also available on the house. We'll come back when we're in the area.

It's been a long time since I had such a terrible dinner. Nothing tasted: the salad, the steak, even the coke was undrinkable. Bah, 60 euros to the moon, we just went and got doner, which was nice.

Update: Anyone who responds to a customer review as a boss that they should be ashamed of themselves and portrays me, as a guest who is self-employed, as a liar, should probably seriously think about their respect and ability to take criticism, but above all about their professionalism. Here, only praise is accepted and critics are insulted, devalued and insulted... Where should I start. We, two women, a 6-year-old child and two woofies sat outside by the water. The menus only came when we called, and before that the terrace was calmly prepared, even though there were enough staff available. It took quite a while until someone came to take our order, unfortunately only with a show of hands. So, ordered food... Now it was grumbling, it was getting darker, it was windy and cool... When we asked if we could go in because of the unpleasant fresh wind that was blowing around our ears, we were refused The reason was that we had two dogs with us... We were not offered blankets or any other accommodation. Now we sat there in the wind and ate quickly because we just wanted to leave... I find it very inhumane to let your paying guests sit outside freezing just because you have dogs with you... The taste of the food was only mediocre, a farmer's salad for €12.90 that wouldn't have filled you up is really steep... Well, not everyone knows what customer friendliness and service is all about.

The best Greek restaurant to eat in Bad!!! Everyone was very nice, friendly, very nicely decorated and very tasty food!!!

The table by the canal is great when the weather is nice and we liked the atmosphere. The food was good and plentiful as you would expect from a Greek restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised.

We ordered and received a table on the outside terrace. The food came after a short wait. So far everything was great... 3 out of 4 had ordered gyros, suflaki with Metaxa sauce. UNFORTUNATELY IT WASN'T A METAXA DISH BUT A CURRYKETCHUP MEAT DISH. When we asked if everything was ok, the ketchup meat plate was criticized. We don't have ketchup was the answer. OK. That was the last time.........

I ordered soflaki with Metaxa sauce. Flei worked like this and the sauce tasted completely like ketchup. It wasn't Metaxa sauce...

The food and surroundings are very nice. However, the service leaves a lot to be desired. You wait 1.5 hours for food.

Cozy restaurant, simple and dignified. It was very crowded that evening. We had reserved a table for 10 people at short notice and were happy to get one. We also had to wait a little longer for our food, but it was sweetened with a delicious ouzo. The restaurant seems to be very popular; at least there was a relaxed atmosphere among the guests. The food was very tasty, we all had different dishes and everyone was satisfied. I was surprised that it tasted so good because it didn't look that appealing to the eye. Maybe improve it a bit but otherwise everything was perfect.👌

Outside terrace very nice, inside a cold atmosphere. Food quite good, service from the older gentleman very good, the young lady should learn to greet, not just put the drinks down. After all, she earns her money through the presence of the guests.

I ordered takeaway and was very disappointed. The homeopathic amount of sheep's cheese that was in the "Bifteki" would have to be removed with tweezers. The minced meat was bland and simply lacked the typical Greek spices. Any meatball from the diner would be tastier. The portion of tzatziki was also quite meager. Snack level at high prices.

The stars aren't enough for the ambience. When the weather is good, it can't be better right on the canal. The beef liver was great, cooked to perfection and the recommendation for the roasted potatoes was great.

We were there three times and now for the last time. The food is mediocre at best, but expensive. The service is bad and there is also a lack of friendliness; indoors you are probably irrelevant. There was no Ouso either, neither before nor after. Three stars for the ambience at the outside tables, right on the canal, where you couldn't make a reservation in advance if only the two of you were there.

I will never enter this restaurant again. We have never had such bad food. Ordered with 4 people...Gyros gratinated in Metaxa sauce and served with fries. The meat was extremely hard... burnt... the Metaxa sauce tasted like tomato sauce... there was a long black hair in one portion... when I complained about the bad food... it only came as a statement that we were them If we were the first to get something...then we would probably have been used to something better...well, how does a waiter behave when you say something like that about his own kitchen... all that's said about the hair in the portion...that can't be....hairnets are worn in the kitchen...we're all just human...anything can happen...no excuse....and I still paid 105.20 for this disgusting meal... I'll never enter the store again!

Nice opportunity to eat outside by the water in summer

A pity. We were looking forward to a delicious meal like we usually have at iporos. My wife first got the wrong food. OK, it can happen. But after 25 minutes there was still no side dish despite a reminder. No thanks. Maybe you should think about a better workflow. We've been eating here for years but it seems to have declined significantly. It's a shame actually

We were there several times last year and I can only say that everything was great. Friendly and quick staff. Food is simply delicious. Even if you have to wait a bit outside, you can still enjoy the great silence by the water. We will come back to you on Sunday.

Unfortunately we were very disappointed with the food. The meat was burnt and dry. The salmon was served half raw. The pike perch fillet didn't taste good either, dry and without spices. We cannot recommend this restaurant.

I'm ashamed of having wandered into this restaurant (not worth the name "guest") because I wanted to have a view of the canal and the harbor. If you want good service and food, go to Högers on the market square in Bad Essen. I had to make this belated criticism about the boss and the food because I felt so insulted. Normally I don't write reviews about insignificant restaurants. But the boss has such bad manners: insulting, arrogant and knowing better, showing off the guest. I would like to warn you about this.

A nice restaurant with a very friendly and communicative boss. Nice view of the Mittelland Canal. The food tasted really good. Payment is only possible in cash or with EC card. No debit or credit card.

Wir waren hier am Wochenende spontan zum Essen. Ein schlichtes aber gemütliches Restaurant. Eine Besonderheit ist der Kaminofen im Restaurant eine wohlige Wärme. Der Service ist sehr gut. Die Mitarbeiter sind freundlich und aufmerksam. Das Essen ist unbeschreiblich köstlich mit frischem Gemüse und einem kleinen Salatbuffett. Das Rinderfilet und das Lamm genau auf den Punkt gegart. Wir werden hier öfters hingehen.

2023-11; unverändert alles weiterhin sehr gut. Tip top. Keine negativen Veränderungen. Wirklich gut! 2021; schöne Aussicht z.B. auf die Marina am Kanal, sehr sauberes Restaurant, mit nettem Personal. Das Essen schmeckt gut, die Preise sind fair. Daumen weit oben :-)

Wow wow wow ich liebe es dort , das Personal ist einfach umwerfend nett und zuvorkommend. Das Ambiente ist perfekt vorallem für einen Abend mit den Mädels . Von dem Essen wird man satt und zufriednen es schmeckt nach Griechenland in Deutschland einfach nur top 👍🏽kann ich jedem empfehlen.

Wir hatten einen sehr schönen Abend auf der Terrasse direkt am Kanal. Sehr gutes Essen zu fairen Preisen sowie schnellem und freundlichen Service.

Bei herrlichem Wetter könnten wir draußen am Kanal sitzen. Der Salat war frisch, das Fleisch zart. Der Wein ist zu teuer. Einen Uzo, den es nach Aussage nur abends gibt, haben wir vermisst. Trotz allem bei schönem Wetter am Kanal ein Erlebnis.

Tolle Location direkt am Mittellandkanal. Es entwickelte sich ein Urlaubsgefühl. Der Wirt ist sehr nett und das Essen hat uns gut geschmeckt. Wir hatten seit Jahren nicht mehr griechisch gegessen und werden dieses Restaurant bald wieder aufsuchen. Allerdings gab es einen Wermutstropfen, die kleine Karaffe Wein mit Plastikverschluss, 0,5 l, kostete 15 €. Das empfanden wir doch recht teuer, da wir in guten Weinlokalen in Osnabrück weniger bezahlen für die gleiche Menge und qualitativ besseren Wein. Ansonsten wirklich empfehlenswert.

Das Essen war sehr gut, obwohl die Soße des Gyros recht süß war. Man kann dort sehr schön direkt am Mittellandkanal sitzen und die vorbeifahrenden Schiffe bestaunen. Das scheint auch Grund für die Preise zu sein. Ein Blick in die Karte lässt dies nicht vermuten, denn die Preise scheinen durchaus nicht überzogen für das Angebotene. Die Portionen fallen jedoch recht klein aus, was ich so noch nicht erlebt habe und die Preise deshalb doch erhöht erscheinen lassen. Lustigerweise gab es auch hier keinen Ouzo zur Begrüßung oder als Absacker, genauso wie beim anderen Griechen in Bad Essen. Da kenne ich die sonstigen Griechen aber gastfreundlicher. Wir haben auch ungewöhnlich lange nach dem Essen auf den Zahlvorgang warten müssen.

Nettes Restaurant mit schöner Außenanlage. Service war entgegen der vielen negativen Rezensionen recht freundlich. An sich nicht viel zu meckern. Ein Stern Abzug da das Gyros für meinen Geschmack ruhig noch eine Runde am Spieß vertragen könnte und es keinen Kinder Uzo (Saft) gab. Ich glaube es gab gar keinen Begrüßungs Uzo...

Direkt am Wasser (Mittellandkanal) unter schattigen Bäumen. Traumhaft

2 Sterne für das Essen, der Rest: Am gestrigen Samstag (heute bearbeitet, der Beitrag ist aus 2022) erfüllten sich meine Lebensgefährtin und ich den schon länger gehegten Wunsch, dort am Wasser zu speisen. Es waren nur wenige Tische belegt, was uns wunderte, aber der Gastwirt teilte uns mit, dass alle Tische reserviert seien, zeigte im Vorbeihetzen dann auf einen nackten Tisch in der zweiten Reihe und deutete wir sollen uns setzen. Es dauerte geschlagene 10 Minuten, weitere Gäste waren erschienen, bis man mit Speisekarten auf uns zulief, elegant an uns vorbei und natürlich den Gästen Karten brachte, die mutmaßlich reserviert hatten. Und dies wiederholte sich. WOW. Bis dann eine Mitarbeiterin mit zwei Karten auf uns zukam, eine (EINE) auf den Tisch legte und mit der zweiten Karte zu den wertvolleren Gästen weiter wollte. Dass wir doch jeder eine Karte erhielten ist dem Umstand zu verdanken, dass der Gastwirt dann doch keine mehr benötigte. Ich detailliere das deshalb, weil sich diese 2. Klasse-Behandlung den restlichen Abend durchzog. Denn noch einige Gäste ohne Reservierung fanden sich ein. Ein Versuch unsererseits, einen frei gewordenen Tische direkt am Wasser zu bekommen, wurde vom werdum-rauskehrenden Herrn mit den Worten „Sitzt du hier oder gehst du“ quittiert. Die Frage nach einem Stuhl (um die Tasche nicht in den Dreck legen zu müssen), es waren genug frei, wurde beantwortet damit, dass er nicht genug Stühle hätte. Wir haben uns dann selbst einen besorgt, die anderen Gäste waren da durchaus netter und aufmerksamer. Und als I-Tüpfelchen, beim Nachhauseweg haben wir einen ganzen Stapel Stühle auf seiner anderen, nicht genutzten Terrasse gesehen. Wir bestellten Getränke und eine Vorspeise, die auch zügig kam und das Beste des Abends war. Als ein Kellner zum Abräumen kam, teilte er uns mit, dass das Salatbuffet drinnen sei. Da wir beide verzichteten, machte er darauf aufmerksam, dass wir rein müssten, denn nur da sei das Besteck für das Hauptgericht, selbst abzuholen. Aber der junge Mann war zumindest bemüht. Das Essen selbst war ok. Aber auch nichts Besonderes. Wir hatten (51) Schweinefilet in Cassisrahmsoße (ohne Rahm) und (58) Rinderfilet mit Gemüse & Kartoffeln. Ok heißt, es schmeckte, aber es war jetzt nicht die Offenbarung. Der Preis ist, selbst wenn wir direkt am Wasser gewesen wären, völlig überzogen. Es gibt hier, man schaue in meine weiteren Rezensionen, Restaurants, die bei gleicher Preisstruktur um Welten besser sind in allen Belangen.

Wir waren fertig, haben noch Wein nachgeordert und wollten den Abend dann langsam ausklingen lassen. Der Gastwirt lies an seiner Ausschankhütte ein ganzes Tablett voll Schnapsgläser mit dem traditionell verabreichten Ouzu füllen, ging stramm auf uns zu und ich dachte noch „Hui, jetzt kommt doch noch der Gastgeber durch“, als er an uns vorbei ging zu seinen mMn. wertvolleren Gästen. So klapperte er jeden reservierten Tisch in der ersten Reihe ab, trank auch paar mal mit und machte um die Tische mit den Gästen ohne Reservierung einen Bogen. Das Beste kommt zum Schluss. Nach ca. 10, 15 Minuten, wir hatten unsere Gläser halb geleert, steht der Gastwirt vor uns und sagt, „Brauche Tisch, musst du gehen, jetzt!“. Sind wir auch, nachdem wir auf Heller und Pfennig unsere Rechnung (€ 61,80) zahlten und kommen sicher nicht wieder. Der Tisch war übrigens eine halbe Stunde später noch frei, seiner Stühle beraubt. Ich hätte ihm sagen können, wo noch welche stehen, aber ich glaube, das hätte auch nicht weiter geholfen.

Besteck war nicht am Tisch. Vorspeisen und Hauptspeisen kamen gleichzeitig. Service na ja.

Restaurant „IPIRIOS“ der Grieche am Hafen, geschmacklich überzeugend, Bedienung manchmal leicht überlastet. Es ist ein schöner Ort mit wunderbaren Ambiente direkt am Kanal. Es scheint, als wäre es ratsam, eine Platzreservierung vorzunehmen.

Super Essen und noch bessere Bedienung 10/10 kann man nur weiterempfehlen

Sehr schlechtes Restaurant. Zuerst Getränke bestellt, die Kaffeemilch eines unserer Gäste war komplett eingedickt. Wir baten um eine neue Portion, aber nach einer halben Stunde mussten wir schließlich selbst Kaffeemilch holen. Der Kaffee war natürlich kalt. Dann, nach sehr langer Wartezeit (die Nachbarn, die später kamen, hatten ihr Hauptgericht schon gegessen), wurde plötzlich das Hauptgericht serviert, obwohl wir das Vorspeise noch bekommen sollten. Auf unsere Bitte, zuerst das Vorspeise zu bringen, antwortete der Kellner, dass gibts nicht mehr sei. Schließlich entschieden wir uns, das Hauptgericht trotzdem servieren zu lassen. Der Salat war mit sehr viel Wasser zubereitet und man behauptete, es sei Essig, aber ich schmecke definitiv den Unterschied. Wir hatten Pommes Frites mit Mayonnaise bestellt, die Pommes kamen, aber die Mayonnaise kam immer noch nicht. Keine Entschuldigung, kein Bedauern, nichts. Was für ein miserabler Laden. Niemals dorthin gehen.
