Highly recommended! When we arrived around 7 p.m., the place was full, but the staff were still relaxed and super friendly, walking through the restaurant with a smile. Unfortunately, that's rare these days, but we noticed it here in a particularly positive way. The food was also incredibly delicious. We will definitely be back 🤩

A friendly restaurant, just the way we like it! Even though we arrived on a very full evening when the waiters were busy, we enjoyed some excellent dishes. The portions are substantial and of high quality. This is a place to remember!

The food was delicious and the portions were perfectly adequate. Unfortunately, we had an unmotivated server that evening who seemed more concerned with the other guests than with us. We had to wait forever for the menu, and our food didn't arrive until 1.5 hours after we entered the restaurant. They also charge an extra €2 for changes to side dishes. On the one hand, that's understandable because all these changes can disrupt the flow, but on the other hand, it's also cheeky because, in my opinion, changing from cheese spaetzle to regular spaetzle doesn't justify €2. You also can't pay by card, which leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Unfortunately, it's far too overrated. Certainly not worth two stars, but the average rating needs to be adjusted. The staff's friendliness varies greatly. Everyone tries hard, but unfortunately, most are overwhelmed. The food isn't exactly authentic here. The quality is also mediocre. Overall, it's okay; I wouldn't go here again.

The food was fine. The atmosphere is a bit cluttered/chaotic, especially if you have a table near the bar. It's a bit concerning that you can ONLY pay in cash.

The restaurant is beautifully decorated and inviting. The food was perfectly fine and we enjoyed it. The value for money is definitely good, which is why we can happily recommend the restaurant. A reservation is advisable, as it's always quite busy.

For God's sake! Where do these positive reviews come from? The food is average at best (more likely below average). Classic example: Look at the clientele beforehand to classify the review accordingly. It wasn't our cup of tea at all. The tagiatelle were overcooked. The cheese spaetzle were by far the worst we've ever eaten. Sorry, but quantity definitely doesn't equal quality! On the positive side, the service – fast, attentive, and really friendly.

The schnitzel and roast beef with onions were very good. The cheese in the cheese spaetzle tasted of nothing. Not worthy of the Allgäu region.

Three schnitzels, which were okay, but nothing more. We also had a cordon bleu, which was definitely frozen and unfortunately nothing special. We expected more after reading the reviews. We wouldn't come again.

Unfortunately, I had a bad experience with an employee. When we tried to pay €7.80 by card, he said we were "the inventors of the e-euro" and called out to us, "Pay in cash." There was no notice on the door about the minimum amount for card payments.

An excellent, truly tasty and nutritious end to our Whitsun stay in Oberstaufen. The pancake soup and cheese spaetzle with salad, as well as the Post Hefeweizen on tap, were a delicious treat that is second to none. The service also contributed to the overall excellent impression, always ready with a good word to say and always courteous. Simply exceptional!

Two of us visited there, and I highly recommend it. The food was delicious. I had the asparagus with ham, and my sister had the asparagus without ham but with even more potatoes. Both were absolutely delicious! The dessert was also incredibly good, and the service was very friendly and quick. Dogs are also allowed, which was perfect for us. Last but not least, we found the prices here to be extremely reasonable and good. You really get something delicious here, and plenty of it, without paying too much. Highly recommended! :)

Since guests probably don't order food until after their 10th beer, the reviews are understandable. A supposedly witty waiter served spaetzle cooked with what appeared to be dishwater. The chef couldn't make the thickened sauces any worse. With funky music, the food and more created a Ballermann feeling. If you like it!

Ordered liver. The liver was tough and stringy, a bit black and overcooked (it was probably frozen). The fried potatoes were a convenience product, just thrown into a hot pan with no seasoning. The sauce tasted like a "ready-made product". The salad garnish included a ready-made cabbage and carrot salad, a piece of cucumber, a tomato wedge on a large leaf of Lollo Rosso, and a completely unnecessary thick halved slice of orange (as is common in Eastern Europe). The price, however, was the best of all: €19.90, and it was served within 15 minutes. Respect. Oh, and I completely forgot to mention that just before I was finished, the waiter realized he could have presented a cruet set, but it was too late.

It's a great, beautiful and fun place. Like on the alpine pasture or in the mountains a hut is set up. Super great atmosphere and funny, helpful and very friendly service staff. Food and drinks are top notch, generous and tastefully prepared. The toilet rooms are very small but probably just as big as in a mountain hut. Wasn't a problem for us. We decided on the Cordon Bleu, unfortunately it looked and tasted like frozen. The gravy was also warmed up and a ready-made product. It's ok to fill you up but we definitely expected more from our first meal here. One of the two waiters who served us was very friendly, the other was a bit annoyed that we wanted a different side dish than the one on the menu. Unfortunately we won't be coming back.

Nice atmosphere, but of course less comfortable in the entrance area on Saturday evening. At least you can tell which guest has reserved and which hasn't. I'm not deducting any stars for this. But the food had room for improvement. The cheese spaetzle tended to taste like scrambled eggs and hardly any cheese. In addition, a touch of vegetables would have been a bright spot on the rather sparsely prepared plate. The steak was cooked to perfection. Update: We were there again this week. The good news: the spaetzle was significantly better. People still don't have it that way with vegetables. But that's what it says on the map. The only real problem was the sauce. It tasted artificial and was rather annoying. This needs to be improved. The other two guests felt the same way. But the service was quick and friendly, the atmosphere was great. It remains a recommendation.

Super good! We went to this restaurant for a weekend trip. It's a bit noisy and there's a lot going on, but the service was still very quick and friendly. The food was also very tasty. The onion roast in particular is one of the best I have ever eaten. The Kaiserschmarrn was also super tasty and luckily with very few raisins :-) All in all, I can recommend the restaurant without reservation.

Attractive restaurant with very nice and attentive service staff. Unfortunately, the food was so bland and poorly prepared that even the children didn't want any dessert. We had cheese spaetzle three times, the spaetzle as well as the onions (!) were completely overcooked, I couldn't taste mountain cheese and anything like white lacquer. On top of that, all three of us were sick that night, so we missed a day of vacation.

Found this restaurant by chance. Went to other restaurants in Oberstaufen before and everyone turned us away because we didn't have a reservation (5 people). But not in the Papstalm...despite the full hut and many waiting guests who didn't have a reservation, they didn't send us away. We waited 45 minutes for a table but it was worth it. The food came relatively quickly, was very tasty and plentiful. The staff very professional and friendly. Here you could immediately tell that professionals are at work and that they enjoy making guests happy. The atmosphere is a bit rustic and the mood music in the background suited us very well since we were traveling with children. The children even received a coloring sheet and crayons so they wouldn't get bored. As I said, the food was very tasty. We were guests two more times during our holiday week (this time with a reservation) and the service and food were great there too. We'll definitely be back next year! The food and the ambience are rather rustic and home-style. The meals were very tasty! It is advisable to make a reservation. Particularly noteworthy is the excellent service: our waiter Stefan did his job simply brilliantly. Anyone who works as a waiter can learn a lesson here. Super attentive, but still unobtrusive. Unfortunately I can't give more than 5 stars... Yesterday lunchtime - Saturday - happened to stop by and stop by. Very nice, funny service staff and delicious food (goulash soup with bread and schnitzel (2) Viennese style with fries. We had a schnitzel packed for us, it was just too much for me. Also very tasty in the evening. Today - Sunday - came by again around 2 p.m. It was very very busy and the same staff as the day before. We came by without a reservation and were lucky to get a table. It took a little longer today due to the high volume of guests, but we are on vacation! We were also able to take the Kaiserschmarrn with us without any problems. Thanks for that! I can only recommend the restaurant! A tiny note: the women's toilets are very small - but clean

The place seems to be in high demand. Might be related to the high rating on Google Maps. For most of our stay there was a queue of people waiting for a table to free up. Numerous with reservations. We were in luck and able to have our dinner even slightly before our reserved slot. Everyone was very friendly and efficient. Especially considering the turnover with serving and cleaning tables. The food came rather quickly. Unfortunately, the quality didn't meet the expectations which the restaurant's high rating had created. The boring salad for 7€ is overpriced for what it was and we're still wondering why it came with a slice of orange. The goulash soup was OK. No complaints about the bread it came with. While the deer goulash was tender, the taste of the meat and the sauce was disappointing. Further, the side dish, croquettes, were fried for too long and got too dark and dry. The rösti, we ordered as a side dish, were very thin and therefore also ended up being too dry. At around 20h30 the dance bar below the restaurant seems to start. At least this was the time when the annoying vibrations started making sitting there a bit uncomfortable. Cudos to the staff. But how that rating was achieved is a mystery to me. There are so many excellent restaurants in Oberstaufen and the surrounding area, that you shouldn't waste your time with this one.

Can't share the recessions. The food was cold, the boiled potatoes tasted like they had been warmed up twice. Cabbage rolls have absolutely no taste. I don't even need to start with the coffee, it tasted like dishwater.

However, in our opinion, we found the prices to be in no way justified. We like to go out to eat and like to spend money, but paying €6.80 for a portion of fries and €8 for a portion of children's spaetzle with sauce is a rip-off for us. To then charge €19 for the Cordon Bleu is outrageous. 19€ - 6.80€ for fries makes 12.20€ for the meat. No salad, no sauce… nothing… Sorry, that doesn't work at all. We had the children's spaetzle with sauce elsewhere for half price. Please don't misunderstand, everyone should earn their money, but not like this! The price-performance ratio is the only thing that bothered us.

We come every year, it's just great there, the food is very tasty, especially the schnitzels. And Stefan, our waitress, is simply great. Very pleasant and friendly, fast and perfect, and still peace and quiet, even if the restaurant is very full as usual. You don't often find staff like that.

Can't share the good reviews, my breaded pork schnitzel came from a bulk package. The fries were rock hard. The whole drama cost almost 18 euros. Without a side salad, which then cost almost 8 euros. There are restaurants in town that now have the same quality offer much better. The Apostle used to be cheap and therefore compromises were made. Today you can get better quality elsewhere for the same price.
