Restaurant Apostl Alm in Oberstaufen

There were four of us a week before Christmas, and it was truly awful. We sat for 45 minutes without drinks, and no one even took our order. Eventually, without an apology, someone came over, looking completely flustered, and asked about drinks. We ordered an Aperol Spritz for €7.90, which contained practically no Aperol. Our food order was taken after another 20 minutes. The burgers were cold, with pre-made buns and patties. The fries were cold and soggy. The cheese schnitzel was okay, but the fries were cold, and the sauce... I've never eaten such a terrible sauce. They didn't even try to disguise it as a pre-made sauce. We came because of the many good reviews, which I, or rather we, definitely cannot understand. There are far, far better restaurants than this tourist trap. Reply to the restaurant's response: I didn't mention a specific day, and instead of asking a serious question, they used standardized answers. To portray a guest who writes such a review as a liar, instead of reflecting on what really happened, speaks volumes.

The food was delicious and fresh. The service was friendly. Unfortunately, it was very cold; we had to keep our jackets on. Therefore, we won't be coming back.

We traveled all the way from the Allgäu region on a recommendation and came to this inn – and we were absolutely not disappointed. The food was outstanding: classic, traditional German cuisine, prepared with great care and simply delicious. Every single dish was incredibly tasty and cooked to perfection. You can immediately tell that quality and craftsmanship are paramount here. For us, it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and deserves a clear top rating in every respect. We will definitely be back!

I was there with my family and we ordered food. The waiter took our order and everything seemed fine. Suddenly, loud music started playing, which was completely out of place. We finished eating and couldn't stand the music anymore. So we paid and left. The music was truly unbearable, and while the food itself was okay, the meat wasn't cooked through, and we had simply expected a different meal. What a shame!

The ambiance was exactly to my liking, just as I expect in this region. And the food was simply fantastic. It tasted delicious, and even those who like a larger portion found it more than enough. My conclusion is that if you're in the area, you absolutely must eat here at least once. Which I'll definitely do again with my family. I can wholeheartedly recommend it.

I stumbled in by pure chance (because all the restaurants in Oberstaufen were closed) and fell in love at first sight. The atmosphere was absolutely wonderful. The staff were incredibly friendly, fun, and chatty. My dog ​​was served first and immediately got a drink. The food arrived quickly and piping hot. Highly recommended!

Highly recommended! When we arrived around 7 p.m., the place was full, but the staff were still relaxed and super friendly, walking through the restaurant with a smile. A friendly restaurant, just the way we like it! Even though we arrived on a very full evening when the waiters were busy, we enjoyed some excellent dishes. The portions are substantial and of high quality. This is a place to remember!

The food was delicious and the portions were perfectly adequate. Unfortunately, we had an unmotivated server that evening who seemed more concerned with the other guests than with us. We had to wait forever for the menu, and our food didn't arrive until 1.5 hours after we entered the restaurant. They also charge an extra €2 for changes to side dishes. On the one hand, that's understandable because all these changes can disrupt the flow, but on the other hand, it's also cheeky because, in my opinion, changing from cheese spaetzle to regular spaetzle doesn't justify €2. You also can't pay by card, which leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

For God's sake! Where do these positive reviews come from? The food is average at best (more likely below average). Classic example: Look at the clientele beforehand to classify the review accordingly. It wasn't our cup of tea at all. The tagiatelle were overcooked. The cheese spaetzle were by far the worst we've ever eaten. Sorry, but quantity definitely doesn't equal quality! On the positive side, the service – fast, attentive, and really friendly.

The schnitzel and roast beef with onions were very good. The cheese in the cheese spaetzle tasted of nothing. Not worthy of the Allgäu region.

Unfortunately, I had a bad experience with an employee. When we tried to pay €7.80 by card, he said we were "the inventors of the e-euro" and called out to us, "Pay in cash." There was no notice on the door about the minimum amount for card payments.

An excellent, truly tasty and nutritious end to our Whitsun stay in Oberstaufen. The pancake soup and cheese spaetzle with salad, as well as the Post Hefeweizen on tap, were a delicious treat that is second to none. Both were absolutely delicious! The dessert was also incredibly good, and the service was very friendly and quick. Dogs are also allowed, which was perfect for us. Since guests probably don't order food until after their 10th beer, the reviews are understandable. A supposedly witty waiter served spaetzle cooked with what appeared to be dishwater. The chef couldn't make the thickened sauces any worse. With funky music, the food and more created a Ballermann feeling. If you like it!

Ordered liver. The liver was tough and stringy, a bit black and overcooked (it was probably frozen). The fried potatoes were a convenience product, just thrown into a hot pan with no seasoning. The sauce tasted like a "ready-made product". The salad garnish included a ready-made cabbage and carrot salad, a piece of cucumber, a tomato wedge on a large leaf of Lollo Rosso, and a completely unnecessary thick halved slice of orange (as is common in Eastern Europe). The price, however, was the best of all: €19.90, and it was served within 15 minutes. Respect. Oh, and I completely forgot to mention that just before I was finished, the waiter realized he could have presented a cruet set, but it was too late.

It's a great, beautiful and fun place. Like on the alpine pasture or in the mountains a hut is set up. Super great atmosphere and funny, helpful and very friendly service staff. Food and drinks are top notch, generous and tastefully prepared. The toilet rooms are very small but probably just as big as in a mountain hut. Wasn't a problem for us. It tasted artificial and was rather annoying. This needs to be improved. The other two guests felt the same way. But the service was quick and friendly, the atmosphere was great. Super good! We went to this restaurant for a weekend trip. It's a bit noisy and there's a lot going on, but the service was still very quick and friendly. The food was also very tasty. The onion roast in particular is one of the best I have ever eaten. The Kaiserschmarrn was also super tasty and luckily with very few raisins :-) All in all, I can recommend the restaurant without reservation.

We had cheese spaetzle three times, the spaetzle as well as the onions (!) were completely overcooked, I couldn't taste mountain cheese and anything like white lacquer. On top of that, all three of us were sick that night, so we missed a day of vacation.

Found this restaurant by chance. Went to other restaurants in Oberstaufen before and everyone turned us away because we didn't have a reservation (5 people). But not in the Papstalm...despite the full hut and many waiting guests who didn't have a reservation, they didn't send us away. We waited 45 minutes for a table but it was worth it. The food came relatively quickly, was very tasty and plentiful. The staff very professional and friendly. Here you could immediately tell that professionals are at work and that they enjoy making guests happy. The atmosphere is a bit rustic and the mood music in the background suited us very well since we were traveling with children. The children even received a coloring sheet and crayons so they wouldn't get bored. As I said, the food was very tasty. We were guests two more times during our holiday week (this time with a reservation) and the service and food were great there too. We'll definitely be back next year! Very nice, funny service staff and delicious food (goulash soup with bread and schnitzel (2) Viennese style with fries. We had a schnitzel packed for us, it was just too much for me. Also very tasty in the evening. Today - Sunday - came by again around 2 p.m. It was very very busy and the same staff as the day before. We came by without a reservation and were lucky to get a table. It took a little longer today due to the high volume of guests, but we are on vacation! We were also able to take the Kaiserschmarrn with us without any problems. Thanks for that! I can only recommend the restaurant! A tiny note: the women's toilets are very small - but clean
