We stay in Bad Sassendorf regularly and often visit the local restaurants. We consider the restaurant "An der Rosenau" to be one of the best in Bad Sassendorf. A place you'll want to return to again and again once you've been. The food is excellent and the taste is hard to beat. Everything is freshly prepared. The portions are very generous and designed for people with a hunger. In comparison, we consider the prices moderate. The service and waitresses are always very friendly and attentive, so you always feel well looked after. TIP: Try it and enjoy. Definitely recommended.

We've never eaten such bad meat. The skewer was fatty and gristly, and the stuffed meatloaf was rubbery. Criticism wasn't accepted either. Expensive doesn't necessarily mean good!

Ich hatte Spargel mit einem Rumpsteak und Kartoffeln und Sauce Béarnaise. Klassisch zubereitet, aber etwas ohne Pfiff und Phantasie. Die Sauce war auch nicht selbst aus eigenen Zutaten zubereitet und mit wenig Geschmack. Alles guter Durchschnitt. Der Service war in Ordnung, präsent und zuvorkommend, das Ambiente und die Einrichtung des Restaurants allerdings nicht mehr zeitgemäß.

The food was delicious. It's a very well-kept restaurant, and the staff is super friendly. Since we're from the Ruhr area and wanted to visit our mother, who was there for a health spa treatment, we wanted to surprise her with a meal together. We decided on the restaurant at the Roseanau. The owner was so friendly and arranged a huge table for us, including 14 people, including children. She's so sweet that she even gave the children arts and crafts to keep them occupied until the food arrived. It's a dream not to have to leave cell phones on the table. I've rarely experienced such child-friendly restaurant staff. Since some of us don't eat pork, she even accommodated individual requests and, upon request, changed dishes on the menu and conjured up a delicious poultry dish. Everything was great. When my husband joined us, we ordered food. Kudos to the kitchen!!! It was simply fantastic. We highly recommend the food and the staff and will definitely be back. Thank you.

I looked at the menu online and chose something. The dish wasn't on the menu when I got there. When I asked, I was told they weren't serving it at the moment, maybe next week or the week after. I then chose a cordon bleu from the menu, but when I ordered, I was told it wasn't available. We then decided on something else, which we didn't really like, and the price was much too high. Never again.

The staff and the hostess are very friendly and helpful. They are always nearby. You feel well looked after. No request is refused, and you receive pleasant service. In pleasant temperatures, you can enjoy nature outside at the same time. A small river flows in front of the restaurant, which also runs over a small waterfall. A highlight. Now for the most important part, the food. The food is freshly prepared, and everything is homemade, which you can taste. It's a delight, as many details of the dishes are particularly emphasized. The portions are very filling and delicious. Worthwhile for gourmets. They say that the eyes eat with you; mine were very happy. Price-performance ratio is excellent. The food was served for 12 people at the same time. All in all, praiseworthy and highly recommended. You feel very comfortable. Great ambiance, even for special occasions. Very lovingly decorated. And I personally recommend trying the tiramisu for dessert. It's homemade and by far the best tiramisu I've ever eaten. The taste and quality are prepared with love. You can taste it. I highly recommend it. We'll definitely be back.

During our stay at the Hotel Forellenhof, we ate once at the Rosenau restaurant. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. The service was provided by poorly trained young ladies who had little knowledge of the dishes and wines on offer. The dress code of the waiters, with jeans and crop tops, was also inappropriate for a restaurant of this size. Tables are set with disposable tablecloths "off the roll." Ordering drinks and the first service took almost half an hour. The ordered food tasted okay, but not outstanding. The manager came to our table and other tables several times and apologized, among other things, for the long waits and the service. The "highlight," however, was around 8:30 p.m., when several people entered the bar area, and the lower part of the restaurant gradually filled with loud, tipsy guests from outside, and the music was turned up. When we complained to the manager, she assuaged the situation. They're supposed to be the shooting club with a king and queen, and they should be allowed to have their fun. We like to party too, but that doesn't belong in a restaurant where guests are eating at the same time upstairs. Furthermore, the entrance door kept opening and closing because of the smokers and new partygoers. When Ballermann hits started playing shortly after 9 p.m. and the group—about 20 people—sang along, we paid and left the restaurant. We informed the hotel about these incidents the next day. We'll be happy to stay at the Forellenhof again and recommend it 100%, but we won't be visiting the Rosenau restaurant—which is leased—again. What a shame. A quick note now that my review has been commented on: If you're hosting a shooting club party, you can only accept reservations—especially from hotel guests—in the same room of an upscale restaurant to a limited extent. This has nothing to do with equal treatment of all types of guests. Or maybe that's precisely why ;-)? In any case, the contact details were known and the situation could have been communicated in advance.

Hello. We have been to the restaurant for the fourth time now and can say that the food and service have always been completely convincing. What we like is the open nature of the hostess. You immediately feel at home when you come in. The food is simple, but cooked with a lot of love. You can also enjoy our own aperitif creations here, both summer and winter. Why 1 star less for Ambiente? Due to the size of the restaurant and the small number of customers, you sometimes seem a bit lost. In such cases, you might want to consider reducing the size of the guest room to make it more comfortable. Otherwise we are completely satisfied and would happily recommend it to others. 😎

At the beginning of the year we had 3+4 course menus that were simply fantastic. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This time at Easter we ate ala carte twice and it was again excellent, very tasty and freshly prepared. Ines, the boss, is just great, as are all the staff. It was beautifully decorated and we felt like old friends. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Oh, this time we promised to come back, which we will definitely keep.

From our point of view, unfortunately, a complete disaster! We ate at the Restaurant an der Rosenau twice in a row in March 2025. We booked this as an offer for our stay at the Hotel Forellenhof (which we really enjoyed!). Unfortunately, this turned out to be a very big mistake! We can't explain where the good reviews on Goggle come from. The quality of the food was in no way commensurate with the price. Almost every dish had a green, barely edible sauce that tasted excessively of garlic. Some of the dishes didn't seem fresh, warmed up, poorly seasoned, either too salty or barely or not seasoned at all. During our stay, guests at other tables also complained about the quality of the food. The ambience is also not very inviting; you don't like to stay there for long. The service tried to be friendly, but the overall impression remained unloving. On the first evening it was also very loud due to what appeared to be "regulars" at the bar. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend the restaurant in any way. The often good reviews on Google are a mystery to us! We were very disappointed!

Ein herzliches Restaurant mit hervorragender Küche und bester Qualität! Herzlich & köstlich wie immer. Gewählt habe ich dieses Mal "Zarte Schweinemedaillons Williamsbirne, Gorgonzola, Rahmsauce, Kartoffel Gratin, Beilagen Salat" - ein hervorragendes Gericht. Das Filet zart rosa, der Salat super frisch und alles sehr köstlich und wunderbar angerichtet. Auch der Grauburgunder ist empfehlenswert. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

High-class, impeccable restaurant. We had a four-course meal for 40 euros, which is a fair price for the quantity and quality. The menu consisted of a large portion of tasty chicken soup with a lot of stuff in it. It was followed by a pepper stuffed with feta in a crispy coating - I've never eaten that before and it was very tasty. Then there was zander fillet on celery mashed potatoes with wild broccoli. Also very good. When we were actually full, we had a nice piece of lemon tart. All dishes were also beautifully presented. There was absolutely nothing to complain about with the service, a lot was explained and when the drink was running low we asked questions straight away. The normal menu is rather small and changing, which speaks for freshly prepared dishes with fresh ingredients. Nevertheless, the range is quite wide. Everyone should find something for themselves here.

Bis auf die Tomatensuppe (Dose) war das Essen fabelhaft! Hatten Pasta und Fleisch. Beides wirklich, wirklich gut! Von der Bedienung kann man dies nicht behaupten. Von Verständnisproblemen über gekichere und unpersönlichem Verhalten bringt uns dazu, hier nicht noch einmal zu essen.

We had to reschedule at short notice because our reservation could not be found at another restaurant. Despite the spontaneous request and two large groups, we were served immediately and received our very good food in a very short time. Requests for changes to a composition were fulfilled, as was the request for additional vegetables. Many thanks to Ms Husic for the lovely evening.

This afternoon, after visiting the Börder Therme, we went to the Restaurant an der Rosenau, which is about 1 km away and can of course be combined with a nice walk. There were also enough parking spaces available. We were warmly welcomed by the owner and given a nice window seat in the well-kept restaurant. The menu is simple as it only uses fresh ingredients, but I think there is something for everyone. Here quality comes before quantity. We had the rump steak twice and the schnitzel pan once. I have to say it was the tastiest steak I've eaten in ages. Simply perfect. The schnitzel pan was also great and even the fries that went with it were homemade! Afterwards we treated ourselves to the excellent tiramisu. The owner looked after us very nicely and told us that she makes the tiramisu herself using an old family recipe. A dream!! It was the perfect end to our visit to Bad Sassendorf. We'll definitely be back!!

We went there to eat, it was so good and tasty, the soups and the main courses, that we ate there again the next evening. Other starters and main courses and again it was excellent. The boss personally greeted us both very friendly and served us very courteously. When we are in bad Sassendorf again, we will eat there again.

As overnight guests at the Forellenhof, we visited the restaurant "An der Rosenau" last year and were very impressed with the food and service. This year we had a family weekend in Bad Sassendorf. That's why we reserved a table for 10 people early on. We were able to choose our food à la card, there was something for every taste and everyone was completely satisfied with the food, the service and the entire ambience. We'd love to come back.

If you are looking for regional, freshly prepared food made from the best ingredients that tastes extremely delicious, you have come to the right place. The prawns were a treat, perfectly marinated and without garlic. We would like to come again.
