Very friendly service, delicious food

My wife and I were absolutely thrilled.

When we arrived, an employee held the door open for us, greeted us with "Dear friends," and, after a brief inquiry, assigned us a table. What a wonderful start. The tables—there were two of us—are partly set at an angle, which makes it quite pleasant for conversation. A lovely concept, thank you. The menu is extensive and offers a good selection of food and drinks. We chose vegetarian starters, matzah for two people, and a lamb dish each (fillet & roast beef), which we finished with mocha and cinnamon tea. After the starter, we were offered a break, which we accepted so we didn't have to eat the main course right away. This slowed down the evening. The staff are so friendly that we felt at home. The lovely ambiance and soft music immerse you in the atmosphere. We would happily recommend it, thank you for the lovely evening. There are ample parking spaces in front of the restaurant, and it's located directly on the Weser River. Vintage cars can be viewed in the immediate vicinity, and you can also take a walk and explore Bremen's surroundings.

An all-around perfect evening. Attentive service, incredibly delicious food, great ambiance, and reasonable (albeit high) prices. We'll definitely be back. I don't understand the many comments about the deterioration. We were there years ago – no change. This time we won't wait so long to come back. 😉

The food tasted great, but the portions could have been larger. The service is a disgrace. The latest scam is offering an aperitif (supposedly free) up front before you even get your menu, and then charging almost €7 for those two sips at the end.

Disappointing visit to Al Dar – unfortunately no longer up to par Last night I was back at Al Dar in the Überseestadt – a restaurant I've enjoyed visiting since it opened. Unfortunately, this time's visit was very disappointing and a stark contrast to my previous, consistently positive experiences. Our main courses arrived at the table after just eight minutes – which at first glance sounds like a fast-food restaurant, but in a restaurant of this caliber, you want to arrive, enjoy, and not feel rushed through. The presentation of the dishes – which I know from previous visits to be loving and detailed – was rather lackluster this time: The spinach looked like it had been squeezed out of its shape, and on the plate were exactly three raisins, some rice, and two pieces of meat (delicious, but without being asked how you'd like it cooked – it was still quite raw inside). For €30, a very mixed experience. After the meal, our plates were cleared, but no one asked if we wanted anything else or more wine—refills weren't even an issue, which I would certainly expect in a restaurant of this standard. A waiter, without asking, announced an ice cream we hadn't even ordered. After further inquiry, he initially insisted on it, until later admitting that it was probably meant for another table. Unfortunately, no one else came to our table—neither to take dessert requests nor to reorder anything. After more than 30 minutes with empty glasses, we asked for the bill. When we pointed out that the ice cream hadn't been delivered, all we got was "Oh, no, that was for another table." Conclusion: I've enjoyed coming here so far—because of the atmosphere, the food, and the service. But this evening showed me that this quality is unfortunately no longer a given. I won't be coming back for the time being.

Yesterday, we were at Al Dar for the first time in years. First of all, the service was great! Extremely friendly and fast. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing – I'm only talking about the main course. We both had the chicken main course and missed the typical Syrian refinement. The meat was very salty and had little to no savoriness. The side dishes were two dips, a scoop of rice, and a bit of salad. In my opinion, the value for money here isn't right. The appetizers (falafel and eggplant caviar) were okay. Note: the non-alcoholic Hugo is a (very expensive) passion fruit spritzer.

Our selection: • Mezze platter: Taboulé, olive salad, falafel, hummus, muhammara, labneh, and four other mezze variations, served with Arabic bread 🥙 Price per person: €19.90 • Shish Tawouk: Levantine-style chicken breast fillet, marinated and grilled on lava stone, with saffron tomato sauce and Syrian aioli 🍗 Price: €23.90 To finish off, we opted for the AL-DAR dessert, a selection of oriental sweets for €11.90. The combination was well-balanced in terms of taste 🍰😋. Another plus point is the spacious outdoor area, which is a great place to relax when the weather is nice 🌞🌿. Conclusion: A very successful restaurant visit with high-quality food, friendly service, and a pleasant atmosphere. We can wholeheartedly recommend AL DAR and are already planning another visit 😊👍.

The food was good, but still disappointed. Friends invited us. There were four of us. When the drinks were brought, the waiter accidentally spilled a half-liter of wheat beer on my pants and glasses case. That can happen. It was my bad luck that I then had to wait for over two hours with wet pants smelling of beer. As I said, things like that can happen. But honestly, wouldn't it have been a proper gesture if the restaurant had covered an appetizer (€8.00) with a bill of almost €150.00?

Before we went to Al Dar, I read the 1 ⭐️ reviews. After that, I had my doubts... But I have to say, I can't relate to any of the reviews!! The service was very polite and courteous from the moment we entered, and the same was true at the table. The wait for the food and drinks was reasonable. The food was delicious, and the portions were just right, almost a bit large. The price was a bit high, but still reasonable. We had a truly delicious evening. "Goodbye" 😉

Unfortunately disappointing. We were willing to pay a little more for good food - but it wasn't worth it. The taste was weak, and worst of all, two hours later everyone in the family had a stomach ache. The service was really top, 5 stars for that. Price-performance: maximum 2 stars. Food: 1 star. Definitely a once-in-a-lifetime visit for us.

My entire family, as well as myself, have been regulars at Al-Dar for many years. The food is always indescribably delicious! I love Syrian cuisine. The shorba as a starter is incredibly delicious! All the lamb dishes are equally delicious, and the ice cream is simply divine! To be fair, I have to mention one negative point. The prices are quite high, but in my opinion, they've always been justified by the quality of the food. Unfortunately, we've noticed the last few times that the portions have been getting smaller and smaller. I find that a real shame! I don't like leaving a good restaurant hungry after paying around €60-70 per person. Then please raise the prices by €1-2, but keep the portions the same. That's a real shame. If it were like it was before, I would of course give it 5 stars. The service and ambiance are very, very good. Always friendly and helpful. Always cheerful staff.

The Al Dar restaurant is located in the Überseestadt district, where everything is generally not cheap, but always of very high quality. And that's exactly how it is here: everything is very elaborate and high-quality. From the food to the staff to the ambiance, there was nothing to complain about this evening. It should be clear that you can't get all of this at street prices. For a lovely and unusual evening, the Al Dar is absolutely recommended.

Hello dear people, So when it comes to food, I have to say tip top, although I also have to say that some of it is relatively expensive. However, I find the service to be subpar. We were there with 10 people and treated ourselves to a treat! A meal was forgotten and served about 15 minutes later. I noticed the waiter taking the order. 🙈 At the end we wanted a schnapps. At the counter we were told we would get two bottles of Lebanese anise schnapps for the price of one bottle. In the end both bottles were on the receipt for 76 euros. That's just dishonest.

Schöne location mit Terrasse am alten Überseekai. Reise durch syrien für vier Personen gewählt. Die Vorspeisen waren schon optisch und geschmacklich ein Erlebnis, der Hauptgang mit drei Sorten Fleisch sehr köstlich, besonders das Lammfilet. Gerne etwas mehr von dem gegrilltem Gemüse. Service ist aufmerksam, erklärt gerne die Speisen. Schönen rose aus dem Libanon auf Empfehlung getrunken, guter Tipp!! Alles in allem eine kulinarische Reise, die wir gerne wiederholen. If you want to try something unusual, this place will pleasantly surprise you. The dishes are delicious, and it's nice to share lots of small snacks with friends. There is a good selection of meat dishes, but there is also something for vegetarians. The restaurant is very atmospheric and cozy. The staff is friendly and accommodating.

A complete disappointment! Our reservation was for March 8, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. This wasn't our first visit here - we've been to this restaurant four or five times. In the first few years the food was delicious and the service was good. Our last visit was about a year ago and we were already disappointed, especially with the service. Nevertheless, we wanted to give the restaurant another chance. But this time I deeply regretted going to AL-Dar - and I will never come back! We arrived at 5:40pm, were seated and placed our order at 5:45pm. Since it was Ramadan, we had specifically informed the staff that our food should be served on time. We opted for the Iftar menu for €37.50 per person – a price that is by no means justified, but more on that later. At around 6:20pm we got our drinks and soup, followed by the starters. But there was no bread on the table. We asked for it several times, but only after ten minutes and three requests did we finally get bread - which unfortunately was also old and dry. Only the second time we got fresh Arabic bread. After the starters we waited for the main course. And we had to wait exactly 55 minutes for it! During this time we pointed out to the staff several times that we were fasting and hadn't eaten all day. But nothing changed. At the same time, at least four other tables that had arrived about 30 minutes after us received their food within 15-20 minutes. Since we had ordered almost the same thing, this waiting time was completely incomprehensible. When the food finally arrived, it was immediately clear that it didn't even come from the AL Dar kitchen - it looked like it had been picked up from a simple snack bar. The vegetarian dish had such a strong, unpleasant smell that my wife couldn't even eat it. Nobody asked us why the food was left untouched on the table! In summary, it was a disastrous dinner. €114 for poor service, a grill that wasn't even takeaway quality, and cold rice - it definitely wasn't worth it! We left the restaurant without eating the desserts that were actually included in the menu. I absolutely cannot recommend this restaurant. Don't waste your money - there are much better alternatives nearby!

Food delicious, ambience, price/performance OK. Serious negative point: We felt discriminated against. We ordered the Iftar menu, which is offered from sunset during Ramadan. This was refused by the waiter because we didn't observe Ramadan and would fast???? What would happen in the media if a Muslim were refused the Christmas or Easter menu in a German restaurant? We had to change our mind and afterwards we were annoyed that we didn't leave the restaurant straight away. We definitely won't be coming back!

Es wurde uns vom Kellner verweigert, da wir als Christen den Ramadan nicht leben und nicht Fasten würden. Wir mussten uns was anderes aussuchen. Wir haben uns geärgert, das wir aufgrund der Diskriminierung nicht gleich wieder gegangen sind. Man stelle sich vor was in den Medien los wäre, wenn einem Muslim in einem deutschen Restaurant das Weihnachts- oder Ostermenü verweigert würde. Die Vorspeisen waren gut, Hauptgerichte leider schon etwas kalt aber sonst gut. Dessert ok. Preis/Leistung noch ok.

2,5 Stunden hatten wir für unseren Besuch geplant und mussten unseren Nachtisch, der Bestandteil des bestellten Menüs war, in einer Pappschachtel mitnehmen. Wir haben eine gefühlte Ewigkeit auf Getränke gewartet, dann kamen auch erstmal die Falschen. Die leeren Gläser und Flaschen wurden im Laufe des Abends nicht mitgenommen. Für die Vorspeise mussten wir mehrfach beim Kellner nachfragen, während die Tische um uns schon beim Hauptgang waren. Das Brot war kalt und schmeckte wie ein Wrap aus der Packung. Aber sonst war die Vorspeise gut. Nachdem inzwischen 1,5 Stunden vergangen waren, mussten wir beimHauptgang auch nachfragen, weil unser Anschlusstermin schon näher rückte. Der Hauptgang war geschmacklich in Ordnung, aber das war’s dann auch. Reis, Fleisch, Gemüse lieblos auf den Teller geklatscht. Inzwischen hatten wir die Aperitifgläser und zwei leere Wasserflaschen auf dem Tisch, an denen auch scheinbar nur wir uns gestört haben. Den Nachtisch haben wir zeitlich nicht mehr im Restaurant essen können.Stattdessen brachte man uns eine kleine Pappschachtel mit 5 kleinen Teilen Baklava, einem Stück Ananas, zwei Trauben… Wir waren sehr enttäuscht. 42€ pro Person für das bestellte Menü….das war es für uns jedenfalls nicht im entferntesten Wert. Keine Entschuldigung geschweige denn ein Angebot oder Kaffee/Tee für die Verzögerung, nix. Der Service war offensichtlich unterbesetzt und überfordert. Das Ambiente erinnerte eher an Abfertigungshalle (sehr laut) und wir fühlten uns nicht willkommen. Ganz sicher nicht nochmal. Wenn ich schonmal ausgehe, will ich das auch genießen und das war Lichtjahre davon entfernt!

To put it politely, the service can be improved: We had a waiter who was extremely hectic and unfriendly. So the plates or drinks were handed to us. We were asked via hand gesture to hand him dirty plates. We tried several times to order sauce for the main course. However, this was never delivered. Overall, we felt like we were intruding on our wishes. Eat: We ordered the “Travel through Syria” menu with “Mix Grill” (meat) for four people. The starter was very tasty and enough for four people. The main course was very carelessly served on a platter. It only consisted of meat, a few slices of Arabic bread and a quartered tomato. The sauce was only available in homeopathic quantities and reordering (see above) was not possible. Dessert was a disgrace: four small scoops of ice cream with three small pieces of dry pastry. It couldn't be worse! We are happy to pay a little more money for good food and good service. Unfortunately you won't find either here! We definitely won't be coming back!

En los primeros días, la comida era deliciosa, y el servicio era bueno. Nuestra última visita fue hace aproximadamente un año, y ya estábamos decepcionados, especialmente con el servicio. Pero pensamos en darle otra oportunidad. Sin embargo, esta vez, lamenté profundamente venir a AL - Dar, y nunca volveré! Llegamos a las 17: 40 , tomaron asiento y realizaron nuestros pedidos a las 17 : 45 . Como era Ramadán, informamos específicamente al personal que necesitábamos que nuestra comida se sirviera a tiempo. Pedimos el menú iftar, que era de 37€. 50 por persona, definitivamente no vale la pena el precio, pero esa es otra historia. Alrededor de los 18 : 20 , recibimos nuestras bebidas y sopa, seguido de aperitivos. Pero no había pan en la mesa. Pedimos pan, y después de solicitarlo tres veces, finalmente llegó 10 minutos después. El primer lote estaba rancio, y solo el segundo lote de pan árabe era decente. Después de terminar nuestros entrantes, esperamos el plato principal. Esperamos exactamente 55 minutos! Le recordamos al personal varias veces que estábamos en ayunas y no habíamos comido en todo el día, sin embargo, nada cambió. Mientras tanto, al menos cuatro mesas que llegaron 30 minutos después de que nosotros recibimos su comida en 15-20 minutos. Considerando que pedimos casi los mismos platos, esto fue completamente inaceptable. Cuando la comida finalmente llegó, estaba claro que ni siquiera pertenecía a AL - Dar - parecía que había sido comprado en un quiosco de comida rápida al azar. El plato vegetariano tenía un olor tan fuerte que mi esposa ni siquiera podía comerlo. Nadie se molestó en comprobar por qué la comida permaneció intacta! En resumen, fue una terrible experiencia de cena. Pagamos 114€ por un servicio horrible, una parrilla de baja calidad que ni siquiera era tan buena como un kebab barato, y arroz frío. Ni siquiera nos molestamos en comer los postres incluidos en el menú y salimos del restaurante. Incluso un restaurante básico y casual ofrece un mejor servicio que este lugar hizo anoche. No recomendaría este restaurante a nadie. No malgastes tu dinero — ¡hay muchas mejores opciones cerca!

We had planned our visit for 2.5 hours and had to take our dessert, which was part of the menu we ordered, with us in a cardboard box. We waited what felt like an eternity for drinks, then the wrong ones came. The empty glasses and bottles were not taken away during the evening. We had to ask the waiter several times for the starter while the tables around us were already eating the main course. The bread was cold and tasted like a wrap from a package. But otherwise the starter was good. After 1.5 hours had passed, we had to ask about the main course because our follow-up appointment was already approaching. The main course tasted okay, but that was it. Rice, meat and vegetables carelessly slapped onto the plate. In the meantime we had the aperitif glasses and two empty water bottles on the table, which apparently only bothered us. We didn't have time to eat dessert in the restaurant. Instead they brought us a small cardboard box with 5 small pieces of baklava, a piece of pineapple, two grapes... We were very disappointed. 42€ per person for the menu we ordered...that wasn't even remotely worth it for us. No apology let alone an offer or coffee/tea for the delay, nothing. The service was obviously understaffed and overwhelmed. The atmosphere was more reminiscent of a check-in hall (very loud) and we didn't feel welcome. Definitely not again. If I'm going to go out, I want to enjoy it and this was light years away from that!

50€ for a starter platter with 2 mini meat pockets, the mezze were just dips and 2 salads. Meat plate 25€ for having 2 mini pieces of meat on it. The service was nice but for the prices you expect to be full.

A very impressive restaurant. Very large and yet very comfortable. There are still real white tablecloths on the table here. An outdoor terrace is available in summer. An online reservation was easy, but not necessary for a Sunday lunch for two people. The staff was friendly and attentive. The menu contained many items. The staff will be happy to explain the composition of the dishes to you. We had a very good meal here and would love to come back.

Wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen, die Garderobe wurde uns abgenommen und aufgehängt. Dann wurden wir zum Tisch geführt, der schön gedeckt war.Sehr schnell wurden die Getränkewünsche aufgenommen und sehr bald gebracht. Wir wählten als Vorspeise die zahlreichen Mazzas, sehr lecker. Auch die Hauptspeisen waren schön angerichtet und lecker! Wir waren alle sehr zufrieden!

This was our third time in the Al Dar restaurant and definitely the last time. The prices are pretty outrageous, because a starter plate with 10 different dips costs EUR 40 and this starter plate is only available for 2 people or more (so EUR 20 per person) At the beginning, guests are forced to have an aperitif, even though they don't actually want one. But if you've invited friends over for a social evening, you're pretty much under pressure. Paid a total of €188 for the evening. You have to be a big earner to pay bills like that. Well

Hatten viel Spass mit dem Silvestermenü und der netten Bedienung. Tolle Sicht auf die Raketen draußen hatten wir auch. Sehr geeignet für Vegetarier, vor allem die leckeren Mazza. Außerdem war es auch mit Rollstuhl sehr einfach, hier ist alles barrierefrei.

Clear recommendation! We were there for the first time because from the outside it always seemed very elegant. The food is a clear 12/10, as is the staff. Everyone was super nice and took the time to explain the starters/specialties of Syrian cuisine to us. It was beautifully presented and you sit directly on the Weser with a fantastic view. The toilets were also super clean. You pay a good price here, but you get a great culinary insight and with a lot of love. We'd love to come back!

It was our first time at Al Dar and the three of us had the MAZZA II. It was very tasty and you could try a lot. However, it cost €24.50 per person and that was a bit low. E.g. only 2 falafel balls for 3 people.

The portions were meager, so we were always hungry after eating. In addition, the prices are a bit more expensive compared to other restaurants. We paid just under 80 euros for two people

Nice, very large restaurant in Bremen's Überseestadt. Nice service. Food very tasty and of very good quality. Since we wanted to try Syrian food for the first time, we first chose various starters. All were delicious and surprisingly good. For the main course we chose the minced lamb skewers and a mixed meat platter. Both dishes were very good quality. All in all, a good, high-quality kitchen, which was also reflected in the price. But quality has its price. We'll come back again.

This was my second time in the restaurant. The first time in 2017 and now in 2024. The first time there was only meze, very tasty. I was here again 7 years later and I didn't really like it anymore. The ambience is quite nice, but very mixed up with the decoration materials, it is incredibly loud when the Rewtaufant is fully booked, you can hardly have a conversation, there is no sound insulation. The service has two sides. Very nice staff, but the drife is missing. On the one hand, an espresso was forgotten at the end, and on the other hand, the waitress didn't know what meat the restaurant had, in a Syrian restaurant... "lamb" probably... The main courses are tasty, but outrageously expensive for the portion you get. Charging 25 euros or more for a few pieces of meat, some rice and salad is crazy. The profit margin is very high. Another big point of criticism is the dessert. Syrian delicacies are just 3 scoops of ice cream with a small piece of pastry, so you definitely expect something more special in a Syrian restaurant than just ice cream from a box. Price also at 12 euros…. I didn't enjoy the visit and I didn't feel well either. The price, ambience and service put me off too much to come back again.

The restaurant had already been recommended to us by many other people and today we were able to get an idea of ​​the atmosphere for ourselves: the train station atmosphere is, to put it mildly, the size of the restaurant. The food was really fantastic and worth a trip to the other side of the world. What really makes me sad is the discrimination against Germans in this restaurant. This should not be misunderstood, but the procedure was different for non-Germans. For example, during the meal we were asked whether everything was OK (for example, we were not asked about this) We were also able to observe a quicker processing of the meal between us/or German guests and people with a migration background………., it could be our imagination or over-interpretation………. We ourselves will be more likely to visit El Sol again in the future………., because all guests are treated equally…..

The food was very tasty, the service was attentive. Even though it was very crowded, it went quite quickly. The only drawback is the noise when it's full. Then it's really loud.

Service was for the most part polite and courteous. I love Syrian cuisine. The food was a bit too bland for me and unfortunately I didn't like it. Some of the prices were already overpriced. I can't understand almost €20 per head for a little mezze, which we shared, in addition to the main course. I didn't like the acoustics, way too loud. The restaurant was filled with lots of loud people and I found that unpleasant. We had to speak louder to each other ourselves. I don't like it, other people love it. The food wasn't special. Motabal was served very poorly. I can prepare it better at home. Bread was not fresh and not homemade. Desserts weren't special either. Rice was too little. In general, for such a chic restaurant, I give the food a 6.5 out of 10. I don't like it. Service wasn't great either.

The two of us were at Al Dar on a Monday. The welcome and service is friendly. The restaurant is well furnished and everything is intact and clean. We ordered Meza for 2. Neither the preparation nor the presentation of the dishes, for which Al Dar charges €24.50 per person, justify this price. Meza is similar to Spanish tapas. The dish consists of a selection of finger food. 2 falafels, 2 fatayer spinach pies and sambusik (filled dumplings, dips, vegetables and Persian pita chips. The dips and salads were ok, the meat in the lamb sambusik was tough. We've had this dish in other restaurants, but here it didn't convince us for just under €25.00. A glass of house wine costs a reasonable €8.50. For the appetizer, 2 glasses of wine and a large bottle of water, including tip, €85 was due.

Everything is great! Only the prices are already at the upper limit but are understandable and OK for the quality delivered.

On November 16, 2024 we ate at Al Dar for the first time. I was very impressed by the ambience. Super-duper. The food was also delicious and the staff was very friendly and attentive. Thank you very much for the lovely evening.

The tables are stylishly set and there are beautiful dishes. The only thing that bothers me a bit is the acoustics. When the store is full it is very loud. This can be very annoying for older guests.

We were here spontaneously for lunch on March 3rd, 2010. The food selected was tasty and good. Unfortunately we cannot say the same about the service. Apparently they forgot about us after the starter - it only came after we reported. The drinks we ordered didn't come at all, but they were on the bill. The restaurant wasn't crowded, but the service was unfortunately overwhelming. Too bad.
