Quaint inn in the middle of Regensburg. The food was delicious and the house beer, the Pilsner, was very good. The service was friendly.

We can definitely recommend the Kneitinger restaurant. A really nice, rustic brewery inn with a nice ambience and very, very tasty food. Michelle, our waiter, also fits the atmosphere, she was extremely attentive and super nice. We'll be back next time we visit Regensburg!

The food was good, but the sausages were served with a large portion of sweet mustard (directly on the plate), which was not indicated on the menu, even though mustard is an allergen.

After Bernd Zehner's video, I really wanted to try the restaurant out for myself. We came from Bayreuth in a group of five on a Saturday and had a great place even without a reservation. The service was friendly and knew what they were selling. The dark beer was a dream. Definitely try it! The acidic lung is also highly recommended. A classic that tastes much better than it sounds. Prices are reasonable for the quality. Ambiance is nice. You can either sit on beer benches under a glass roof or in small, cozy rooms. Clear recommendations for your next trip to Regensburg.

Great tradition, fine beers, volatile cuisine Because this time I had chosen a hotel in the immediate vicinity of Arnulfplatz, it seemed obvious to me to satisfy my hunger primarily in the “Kneitinger”. So I had my dinner there on Friday and my lunch the following Sunday. After my first visit it would have been enough for full points. The “Sunday roast” led to devaluation. In the “Kneitinger”, a gastronomic institution with almost 500 years of history, many things are still the same as they have always been, although some things have had to give way to the spirit of the times. I remember that around 25 years ago, roast veal kidney had a permanent place on the menu and has now completely disappeared. But there are a few other traditional Bavarian specialties that are hardly available anywhere else. Overall, the always up-to-date menus, which are also available online, offer a large selection of typical local dishes at fair prices. In addition to the tasty beers, this is certainly one reason why the “Kneitinger” is always well attended by regular guests, locals and even strangers. A reservation is recommended from Friday evening to Sunday lunchtime, but is usually only accepted for groups of three or more people. One or two guests can always find a place at the large tables, because fortunately it is still common here to sit together with strangers. The waitresses are all completely on their toes and show the necessary friendliness. Of course, the waitresses also have to give themselves a wengerl as Bissgurn (probably from bissig and gurre = Old High German for mare; often incorrectly referred to as Bissgurke) in order to convey to the guests the typical bitter charm of Bavarian tavern culture. When it came to beers, I chose the Hellen Hans, which is only celebrating its fifth anniversary in July this year. He has nothing to do with the blonde Hans (Albers) and was launched in honor of the 120th birthday of Johann Kneitinger III. A very pleasant and uncomplicated light. On Friday evening I enjoyed the liver dumpling soup as a starter and everything was perfect. The strong bouillon lacked nothing and the dumpling was light, airy and perfectly seasoned. For the main course I enjoyed a tender roasted pork heart, which was flawlessly prepared and seasoned. The fried potatoes were also prepared with caraway in an exemplary manner, although they were cut and browned too unevenly for me. I also missed onions and bacon, but that's a matter of taste. On Sunday lunchtime I was looking forward to a surhaxerl with additional surfleisch and was bitterly disappointed. The meat, including the small piece with bacon and rind, was so dry and hard that it was only possible to eat it with the creamy mashed potatoes and the somewhat juicy sauerkraut as a lubricant and lubricant. The grated horseradish was completely smoky and had lost all spiciness. Even if my old Bavarian compatriots, especially the people of Upper Palatinate, will stone me for this remark, I have to say that a good Surhaxerl in the Free State of Bavaria is only available as a small Knöchle in Middle Franconia. Despite this disappointment, I will always return to the “Kneitinger” - after all, it belongs to Regensburg, and I was often more than satisfied there.

We were in the restaurant on Friday evening and the restaurant was busy at that time. All in all a very nice location. There is a small deduction because there was no musical background at our seats and it therefore felt a bit cold.

Kneitinger is a must in Regensburg, you should go there when you're there, Bavarian, rustic, you immediately feel at home. Solid good home cooking and super good beer.

The food was average, and i found out that some of the cheaper dishes were missing from the English menu. We ordered smaller portions, but we were still charged for a large ones, even though I’m not sure if it was actually large. The service was disappointing, as the staff barely paid attention to us. Overall, not the best experience.

I recommend the pork knuckle. It was cooked to perfection and crispy with a great gravy. The pork schnitzel was good too. The staff were very friendly and would come back again.

The food was excellent home cooking, the meat was tender and buttery (ox cheeks and plate meat), and the side dishes were delicious. Even though we were very stressed, the service was always friendly and accommodating. We always enjoy eating at Kneitinger and we would of course be happy to come back. It is our favorite restaurant in Regensburg.

Nice Bavarian eatery, lots of places to sit. Waitress was super nice and quick. I only went to the toilet briefly and I got there, my beer was already on the table and after a minute my food arrived. Both super tasty. The fact that so many people from Regensburg come to eat there also speaks for itself. Really worth visiting.

It was busy while we were there, however, we had to wait quite awhile for food and were not checked on for drink refills. After the meal we waited approximately 15 minutes while attempting to get the attention of the waitress who had too many tables. Then another wait to pay. The food was excellent and we loved the building and decor. It is not handicap accessible and the restroom 🚻 is downstairs making it also not accessible for people with mobility issues. No room for a wheelchair. Please improve on being more accessible.

Very rustic restaurant with fantastic food

Very pleasant atmosphere, the service was great. Food was at the table quickly and tasted really good. We were there with around 90 people and it still ran like clockwork. A real Boarisch tavern, just like this ghead. When I'm back in Regensburg, I know where I'm going to eat. Keep it up.

Rustic location. Despite a few mishaps, the service was always friendly and accommodating. There was also a constant coming and going of guests. The restaurant was always full. The waiting times were kept within limits. The food was very good. I'd love to come back.

Great location. Traditional. Food excellent. What is special is that there is a wheelchair toilet. Very easy to reach with a wheelchair.

We sat down with a group of five in the early afternoon. Around us were two loud groups, served by two waiters. We were completely ignored by the waiters, none of them came to us for 25 minutes. We were well dressed, there was also a 10-year-old child among us. How can this happen? We ended up leaving disappointed. Of course we will not return.

Traditional, extremely authentic and cozy Bavarian inn, excellent home-style food, almost everything is homemade. It doesn't get much better than that. This is unusual these days and you can really taste it. Attentive male service (was appreciated with a €6 tip). Accordingly, the store is running and seems to be full every evening. It's not cheap, but it's better that way than this remnant of German pub culture disappears and the 118th kebab shop comes in.

The bossy demeanor of the older waitresses is repulsive and impudent. The food is below average. The cheese spaetzle was watery, the red cabbage tasted like cheap lard, and the potato dumpling wasn't cooked through yet.

I had the duck, unfortunately the bird was in the oven for too long, the meat was dry and hard. The sauce was too salty. This salt was missing from the dumplings, unfortunately not edible. The red cabbage tasted best.
