Very large space, beautiful from the inside, kind service, centrally located

Recommended with a large group. We were a large group of about 50 people and listened professionally. We selected our dishes in advance. So the evening went without long waiting times. Food good and service too.

Super delicious food, it really made us happy. Traditional dishes but with a nice twist.

Four of us went here for lunch on Sunday. The first thing I noticed was the wheelchair lift in the entrance area. We were welcomed here. The elevator worked perfectly. We immediately noticed the elaborate furniture in the guest room. In conversation with a very nice waitress, I learned about the history of the building and also about the origin of the furniture. It came from the old Chemnitz Ratskeller. A big compliment to the kitchen staff and the service. The council chamber makes an extremely well-kept and clean impression to me. Three rooms are available for celebrations. The dishes consist of “home-style” German cuisine. For me as a wheelchair user, it is important that there is a wheelchair-accessible toilet and that is the case here. In short, it was a successful stay with the best lunch in Chemnitz. I also have to mention the ambience and especially the service again. Today it's the way waiters behave towards guests, the way they behave towards disabled people... That defies description. Of course they are black sheep, but they should learn something from the council chambers. Here is a particularly positive example of a restaurant management where everything is just right. The staff and the guest are happy, and the boss seems to be doing well too. Everything fits here.

The smell in the reception area and the dining areas was disgusting. It didn't smell like fresh food, but rather like rancid grease. No thanks.

A great German restaurant. First class food at good prices. Beautiful ambience and excellent service round off our chance visit. If I lived here this would be one of my favorite restaurants.

Good option if you look for tradition and regional dishes. Large dining halls, so it is the ideal place to host large groups. Staff were helpful and professional.

First of all, a clear tip from me for a visit. Nice ambience, great service and delicious food. The service was friendly, attentive and yet reserved. I thought it was really great. The prices of the food are more than reasonable. A bit too cheap for me. The beef carpaccio and the knuckle tasted great for me. My wife's veal liver was fried to perfection. A fine restaurant in the heart of Chemnitz.

I think you have everything you could want in this restaurant. Delicious food, nice service, great ambience. Have eaten here several times.

We visited with friends on Saturday and the atmosphere was really nice! The service came to our table quickly and was super nice! The drinks and food came quickly too! Unfortunately my sauerbraten was a failure! Very dry and tough, unfortunately the red cabbage was too weak for me! But the sauce was very tasty and the plates were beautifully presented!

Wonderful ambience, typical German Ratskeller! The service, as you would expect... attentive and courteous, but not pandering. The wine service was like I learned at vocational school and the food was really great anyway. I had a classic seasoned meat with original Dresden Worcestershire sauce and pork head aspic. Unfortunately, at some point nothing fits in anymore😀Even the smoking lounge, which is otherwise so often badly neglected, is furnished with attention to detail (leather furniture, flat screen and piano). Thank you for this gastronomic highlight in Chemnitz!

We have rarely eaten so well. The sauce from the sauerbraten was a dream and the salmon was also fried to perfection... Service was also top!!

Great staff and the food was great

I would like to leave a review here after lunch today. The restaurant offers a very high-quality ambience, the menu is very varied and every guest will find something there. The starter and main course I chose were very good. What really stood out positively was the outstanding service. The waiter was super nice, friendly and attentive at all times, sweetened our stay with discreetly witty and funny comments without seeming pushy or cheap. As a guest, you could tell that he enjoys his work and knows his craft. Keep it up!

We were there spontaneously and despite reservations got a table for 2 for 1 hour. Unfortunately the food (chicken) wasn't fully cooked, but otherwise good. Background noise increased due to heavy visitors. Friendly staff.

Arrived at around 6 p.m. without a reservation. Received by very friendly staff. Eaten deliciously. What really struck me was the extremely friendly welcome from the guests. They seemed to know each other. Regulars, I guess. I haven't experienced so much friendliness anywhere recently. Wonderful!

The red cabbage on the roulade and sauerbraten this evening was not what you would expect from the council room, they can do better. I don't know allspice, but cloves do. But both can be found in red cabbage, without tea bags, delicious when you bite into it. And I have that. And in terms of taste, allspice was in the foreground. I also doubt fresh homemade red cabbage. Unfortunately the waitress didn't ask if we liked it. The rest of the food was great, I would like to emphasize it again!!

We were there on a Wednesday evening with a reservation. I found the furnishings very elegant. The service was great and the food was also very good. The Saxon sauerbraten was very tasty and my partner also really enjoyed the Caesar salad. For dessert there was tiramisu. That wasn't too sweet either, but rather a crowning conclusion to our lovely evening in the council room. 😁 A big thank you goes to Mr. Wagner. He enriched our evening immensely. 😊

A good, traditional restaurant with an extremely friendly waiter. However, not all service staff are like that: We observed one taking ice cubes from the scoop into her (unwashed) hands before sliding them into the glass.

Super good restaurant. The Saxon sauerbraten was super tasty. The meat was super tender, the dumplings were very fluffy and the red cabbage was super tasty. The service was very good, we didn't have to wait 15 minutes for the food. All in all, a very clear recommendation!

We went to the traditional pub this evening with our visitor from Uruguay. My goodness, we have never eaten so badly and expensively. All the food was there about 10 minutes after ordering, nothing freshly prepared. Tasteless, tough meat and the worst and most unfriendly service we have ever experienced. We were ashamed of our German gastronomy and hospitality.

We were visiting Chemnitz and met up with friends. The council chambers are really great, a real surprise for us from the Allgäu. The ambience and the food are simply great. The service excellent and very friendly. We will definitely come back when we are in Chemnitz. Thanks to the whole team from the council chambers.

Were a sociable group. Had great service. We would like to thank the staff who worked in front of and behind the scenes on the holiday. Otherwise we wouldn't have been able to meet. A nice, quiet oasis in the hustle and bustle of the city, in the middle of the city in the open air: it was a real relaxation after visiting the wine village and with the good food + friendly service = a pleasant end to the day!
