Ratskeller in Wernigerode

Went here spontaneously on Saturday. It was so extremely full that we could only sit outside by the heater. But with a blanket it was ok. Service was great and even though it was so full, the food came relatively quickly and was really tasty 😋 clear recommendation 👍

So it's nice to be able to sit outside too. But for a Latte Machiato for €5.20 I think it's a complete rip-off. And then half the size as usual.

Had dinner twice in the Ratskeller. Nice ambience. The waiters (assistants) were sometimes overwhelmed. When you eat, you expect something different given the price. Roast pork was still very tough and not exactly warm. The highlight was the small salad plate, the eye said no (simply poured it out of the bag and poured sauce over it). Complaining at a high level, but for the price you shouldn't do mass processing

Hello, I came on the recommendation of my friend. Unfortunately I have to say that I have never paid so much money for such bad food. It's not possible to eat lukewarm, the duck was completely dark and dry, the fried potatoes were colorless and tasteless, mainly the surcharge was charged. I thought some of the dishes were totally overpriced. But the service was also totally overwhelmed and impersonal. Conclusion: I do not recommend this restaurant. Too bad.

For some reason we were refused service as soon as they found out we did not speak German and in a quite rude manner. I’ve heard this happens in European cities before but did not expect it to happen to me, so i was quite disappointed. I hope this was a specific bad situation and not something that happens systematically.

Stopped in twice for the evening and had to experience joy and frustration, the first evening gets 100 points, cozy, nice, courteous, tasty, a successful end to the day. ... on the second visit we felt like we were at the Chinese snack bar... without words.

Online menu does not correspond to the actual memory card. Local prices are many times higher!!!!. The waiter then said that the boss knew, but nothing was changed. For me it's a deception!! Never again

The food was very nice (we had Hirschgulasch and Schweinebraten in Rahmpfifferling Sauce), and the staff was really super friendly. It is a nice, cozy place.

The food is good, the prices are fair. Unfortunately, it's totally overcrowded, which detracts from the atmosphere.

The ambience and service were worth 4 stars but the food was only 2 stars. I have venison loins and red cabbage. Klos and red cabbage were good, but the deer leg was killed twice. Dry and chewy like the sole of a shoe. The hot chocolate was overpriced at €4.60 and was just instant powder mixed with hot water and no trace of real drinking chocolate.

A real disappointment at the end of our almost 2 week vacation!!! The food just didn't taste like anything. I was so looking forward to fresh chanterelles! These came with Bohemian dumplings which were ok at best, but the worst thing was the incredibly bland “sauce” in which the chanterelles were drowned, which was absolutely tasteless. And the side salad was unfortunately also a joke, mini small but at least the taste was ok. I'm happy to pay almost €20 for some mushrooms with dumplings and salad! But please with taste! It's nice to sit in the market square and the service was good too. Otherwise it would have only been two stars!

I can only advise everyone not to try this place. Of two different meals we ordered, one was just about edible (liver), but visually it was a total failure and the other (beef stroganoff) was inedible. Impossible to get down. We also observed people chewing unenthusiastically at other tables - one wonders who is in the kitchen. Basically I would have only given it a single star, but I have to at least praise the fact that the waitress took the beef stroganoff off the bill without any hesitation without us asking for it. However, it must be said that the exorbitant prices here bear no relation to the dishes. The card feigns quality where there is none. Better to eat somewhere else.

The most delicious duck I have ever eaten in a restaurant in Germany, fresh, juicy, delicious! From the first bite to the last it was a delight! The Servant Goulash was also very good, the portions were abundant, the quiet atmosphere in a beautiful basement, very good attention from the staff, I definitely recommend it!

The name 'Ratskeller' also stands in many other cities for a home-style restaurant with traditional cuisine in a prime location. Same here! A compliment is due for the tasteful furnishings. The menu shows typical German dishes, although the game goulash was definitely excellent. In any case, the service was top.

There was so much going on that I had to take a seat inside. Was greeted friendly and warmly. Service was excellent. I was asked again and again if everything was okay. I would definitely eat there again.

The impression of the menu hides surprises. Advertised as delicious, ultimately not worth the money. Schnitzel meat tough. Salad plate apart from a few tomatoes and a little pepper only green leaves. It is not possible to reorder the supplement. There is better somewhere else.

We spontaneously went there for dinner today and were able to choose a place. The waiter Atilla looked after us well from the start. That's how service should be, great! The food was plentiful and, upon request, there was also extra sauce for us. We are thrilled, thank you very much :) Ps: Unfortunately, because I was so hungry, there are no photos.

So from what others have written here, I can't agree with that at all. There were three of us there, we were greeted politely and had free choice of seats. It took less than 5 minutes for the waiter to come and take the drink order and also the food order. So we couldn't complain at all. Drinks and food arrived in no time. And it was very tasty. I/We would go there again.😁😁😁😁

The kitchen of the Ratskeller delivers high quality dishes, year on year. Service is friendly and fast. Nice terrace and comfortable, traditional interior in the basement ('keller') under the town hall. If you want some cool shade during hot summer days, or if you are with younger children, a place inside the basement can be a good alternative.

Nice restaurant in the middle of the old town with a great view of the old buildings - but also a tourist hotspot - so always full

I would recommend that the chef at the Ratskeller go on a "travel" and learn - it doesn't work that way. I ordered the pork knuckle and was looking forward to the black beer jus described. At first there was no sign of it and then came the potato dumpling (hence the aforementioned trip) which was like a rubber ball in consistency and had no potato taste. For dessert (which I regret today) I chose the Kaiserschmarren - what a mistake - because it tasted like a ready-made package (and it is better) from the supermarket. When I asked for the bill, a "friendly" Asian man came to our table and I rounded the amount up to a smooth €80.00. We then discovered on the receipt that a flat rate of €5.00 had been charged for consultation. Complaint impossible because this employee could not be found again. The only recommendation I can give is to definitely not go there. At least we'll never again.

We were looking for a place to have dinner in Wernigerode. The Ratskeller with a terrace was ideal. We ate our way through the menu. It was simply delicious. Chanterelle menu varied, whether creamed or fried. The next visit is already planned

I was looking for a decent restaurant with two relatives and found the Ratskeller. I ordered a rump steak with a chocolate souffle for dessert. The rump steak came with a few accompaniments, but the steak itself was VERY unsalted, as if they had forgotten that salt existed. I salted the steak properly myself. The chocolate souffle was very tasty but not chocolate enough for my taste. Good place is recommended👍🏻

Hello everyone, We wanted to have lunch, but that didn't happen. We sat outside for half an hour and the waitress didn't even notice us. The “store” was only half full. That's not bad service, it's no service at all. Apparently you don't need it. Therefore: stay away. There are much better restaurants opposite and nearby.

Centrally located restaurant, and very good service. The food is very good but as is customary in Germany it arrives at the table almost cold. The Schnitzel was a little hotter.

My wife and I celebrated our wedding there. A wonderful staff. So friendly and the food is simply excellent! I can only recommend it!!! Top.

Establishment is next to Rathaus. So you can enjoy the views of the town square or observe the little wooden sculptures adorning the sides of the Rathaus. Staff here do not speak English, only German. So apparently the Google translated descriptions of the dishes are wrong. 🤣 Our server was trying his best to let us know that. We don't speak German. Whatever Geschmorte Hirschkalbskeule was, it was delicious. And you can't go wrong with schnitzel in Germany. We decided on the local version Harzer Hexenschnitzel. Both were very tasty. The Rats Kellerbier goes great with the food.

While walking through the city center, the sign “Matjes-Filet” lured us into their beautiful restaurant. We were very impressed by the ambience and the delicious herring fillet. We would be happy to come back soon.

Von einem Ratskeller erwarte ich etwas anderes. Der Keller ist durchaus schick, das war es dann aber auch schon. Wir entschieden draußen zu essen. Wir wurden platziert. Auf dem Tisch labten sich die Ameisen an den Getränkerändern der Gäste vor uns. Unter dem Tisch stand ein Hundenapf mit Wasser. Dieser wurde erst entfernt als ich ihn in den Gang schob. Der Kellner mit dem Daumen im Napf stellt ihn direkt neben das Kindermalzeug und nahm sofort an anderen Tischen weitere Bestellungen auf - ohne sich die Hände zu waschen. ...Unsere Getränke waren schon da, einige Zeit später kam dann die Frage, "Wollen Sie etwa auch was Essen". Auch das ließen wir über uns ergehen. Das Essen - mit Hundedaumen serviert, war aber ganz ok. Hier würde ich sagen, lassen Sie die Finger von diesem Restaurant. Gegenüber der Italiener ist um Welten besser.

Der Service ist bemüht, was auch merklich ankommt. Das Essen ist ok, es fehlt meiner Ansicht nach bei der Küche die Liebe zum Beruf. Wenn die Qualität der Speisen so hoch wäre wie die Preise - dann wäre alles gut!

Because it was offered at the front, we ordered 2 cream puffs with cream and strawberries. Unfortunately, the waffles are absolutely not fresh, but obviously from a factory and are therefore dry and hard. It's a shame, because otherwise it's a nice shop and a great location.

We had a lovely meal on Saturday. Didn’t have a booking but we were early. The restaurant got full at around 7, mainly with locals with their families and friends. The atmosphere was lovely, and not too warm. Had a great meal and went back Sunday evening with friends. Sunday was quieter. The food on both nights was excellent German cuisine.

Auch, wenn der Ratskeller zentral in der Fußgängerzone von Wernigerode an einer sehr schönen Ecke liegt, ist er nicht als Touristennepp ausgelegt. Die Bedienungen waren sehr freundlich und zügig unterwegs. So bekamen wir schnell nach der Bestellung unsere Getränke und auch das Essen ließ nicht lange auf sich warten. Das Essen war gut und schmackhaft. Die Preise waren auch nicht überteuert, sondern in normalen Rahmen.

Even though the Ratskeller is centrally located in the pedestrian zone of Wernigerode on a very nice corner, it is not designed to be a tourist trap. The waitresses were very friendly and quick. So we got our drinks quickly after ordering and the food didn't take long to arrive either. The food was good and tasty. The prices were not overpriced, but within normal limits.

During our vacation in Wernigerode we also stopped at the Ratskeller. Since we felt totally comfortable the first time, I wanted to go out to eat there for my 50th birthday. But that wasn't just because of the food, which was absolutely amazing and perfect, but also because of our waiter Cedric. An incredibly nice guy. I was there yesterday. The waitress with blonde hair served very poorly, the customers were waiting and she kept holding the cell phone and calling someone without serving. Will the restaurant continue to grow with such employees?

Attracted by the asparagus offerings, we went to the Ratskeller in the Wernigerode town hall for the first time. We got a seat on a Monday evening even without a reservation. And we liked it a lot, we can recommend this restaurant. The staff was very friendly! The drinks and the appetizers (the mushroom pan and the spiced meat) were ready very quickly and very tasty. And the main courses, which were only properly served after the starter dishes had been cleared away, were also ready very quickly. The asparagus was on point and the schnitzel and the potato rostis were also super tasty. We had a lovely evening! Prices are also completely reasonable.

Not a second time. You wait forever until the service shows up. Although the restaurant was only sparsely occupied, the tables were wiped down calmly. Price/performance is absolutely not right. The food is really bad! We have never really eaten so badly. My cheese spaetzle was not edible and was returned. Everything else wasn't really any better. Shame about the money! We didn't say goodbye either, it was probably because of the tip ;)

The Ratskeller in this form is not good advice. The service is miserable. A previously registered birthday literally fell through. When ordering the main course, we were told that dessert would not be served that evening. There weren't many guests left, but it still took an eternity from ordering to serving. In addition, out of six meals ordered, one main course was forgotten. This was served 15 minutes later without any apology. The quantity of main courses also leaves a lot to be desired. When paying, the money was simply taken with me without mentioning a tip. In addition, there was no farewell from the waitress. With this kind of staff, the Ratskeller will definitely not welcome us as guests a second time, despite the beautiful ambience.

We sat on the terrace in the old town and enjoyed the sun. The menu offered a wide range of delicious dishes, including knuckle and duck, which tasted just like in Bavaria. There was also fresh wheat beer - perfect! Our waiter Attila was extremely friendly, attentive and committed. He took great care of us and made sure we had an unforgettable evening. **All in all, a perfect visit! We will definitely be back and can only warmly recommend the Ratskeller

The food was only partially warm. Unfortunately the salad dressing wasn't that tasty. The dumplings and red cabbage were very tasty. The fried sheep's cheese was also delicious. The cheese spaetzle were only lukewarm. The prices are a bit too high.

We celebrated our wedding there and everything was just beautiful. The food was damn good, the service was great and friendly, and our own room was also beautifully decorated. In general, the ambience is very pleasant and historically fits in very well with the rest of the cityscape. I can only warmly recommend the Ratskeller.

I went there yesterday with my family and I'm sorry to say this but: the food was terrible. It should be possible to put a few plain noodles on your plate so that they are not so overcooked that they turn into mush when you scoop them up - especially given the prices. The sauce was marginal and the arugula was sandy. Spaetzle is obviously transferred to a cast iron pan when served so that it arrives cold. The salad plate consisted of thick, mottled stalks of iceberg lettuce, a few grated carrots and pieces of pepper. I didn't taste the dressing, but I also gave up after one bite because it crunched between my teeth and was just bitter...etc. I'm not a particularly good cook myself, but I can do better. However, there are points for the very nice service staff (which can't be blamed) and for the ambience. Since the quality of the food is the most important thing to me when I visit a restaurant, I will certainly not visit the Ratskeller again.

A cozy Ratskeller with very good service! When it comes to eating, the dumpling that came with the good venison goulash deserves special praise. Even if someone had the courage to add spices, all in all it was a very good dish. The portions could be a little smaller so that you can still eat a starter and dessert with confidence.

We ate there on New Year's Day and the goose leg was simply heavenly (just like grandma's). Our dog was also welcome and water was even provided for him. The waiters were very attentive and the Irish coffee for dessert was just perfect.

During our meal, guests came into the restaurant with a dog. The dog was quiet, but in our opinion dogs don't belong in the restaurant.
