Ratskeller in Münster

Advent time - ok. Table reserved - but no one was available. Not all orders kept/served. The menu is fine so far - but does the dessert have to be served in canteen-like glass bowls with cracks? I was imagining something more stylish. It's a shame - it was supposed to be something nice...

The ambience was nice and gave us high hopes. The food also looked very good. Unfortunately, the taste of the food was not convincing. The filled pasta with ricotta and spinach filling tasted exactly like the tortellini from the supermarket. I think it's a disgrace to charge €23.90 for that. Our question was only answered in a short sentence. The food came quite quickly, but the noodles only took 2 minutes...

Very nice cellar. Otherwise the price is at the top, the rest at the bottom. In my opinion the following doesn't work: If you forget something to eat, this can happen. But if there is rubbish in this food and three out of four people don't like their food, then there is a problem. But what is absolutely not possible is to fully charge for the corresponding dish, which had to be returned completely! In addition, I don't think it's right to answer "I don't know" when asked what wines are available and not to look it up when asked. Other little things: Too few menu cards, napkins only for some guests, drinks in bottles and not poured. Unfortunately not recommended.

A main course out of four forgotten, no cutlery at hand. Plastic particles in the food which were charged in full despite a complaint, the quality of the main dishes was not appropriate compared to the price.

On December 18th Been there just to have a drink. There was self-sabotage outside. The man at the tap was completely incompetent. The beer had almost no carbonation. People wanted to refill returned glasses without rinsing them first. Tables were not cleaned and cleared. The sanitary facilities were in a pitiful condition. Stink and feces on the floor. Unbelievable conditions

A nice restaurant in the middle of Münster. We definitely recommend booking. The food was good, the wine too, the service quick and friendly. We had deer goulash and deer bratwurst, both good and plentiful. Recommended.

Today I was a guest in the Ratskeller for the first time. The atmosphere is very pleasant, even if it gets quite loud when there are a lot of guests there. The food is worth the price and the staff is friendly and accommodating. The only negative thing I noticed was that there was no warm water in the toilets and you had to wash your hands with ice-cold water.

Unfriendly waiter, bread dumplings with porcini mushrooms inedible, indefinable appearance of the food. Noodles were not cooked. Card payment was difficult to carry out. Overall very unsatisfactory... no tip given for the first time.

Nice shop but the food wasn't enough for the prices. It was basically delicious but if I order a rose fried duck breast for €35 then I want that too. Unfortunately the duck was too well done and the portion was manageable. Service was nice; but not on the ball. Ambiance is far too loud for me/everyone sits at a long table and the vault doubles the noise level. We were there with 9 men, others were very satisfied, I would try it again but I didn't really like it at first

We were just here to have a drink after the shopping trip. The menu generally looked promising and the location can't be beat. Sitting between the pillars of the arcades on the Principal Market creates a nice feeling. We would certainly have come back again if it hadn't been for the older, bald waiter outside who tipped himself. As long as the staff's performance is good, I'm happy to give tips and round up amounts. However, I would like to decide for myself whether and how much I tip. The amount in the amount of I paid €7.70 with a €10.00 note and received €2.00 back from the waiter without a word. The 30 missing cents probably don't bother me as much as they made the waiter happy with his trick. However, I will no longer visit the restaurant.

Very nice location, right next to the center with a view of the cathedral. The atmosphere inside in the basement is very nice, more elegant. The food is delicious! The liver with apple and onion is very good, as is the entrecot. The only thing that surprised me was the lack of teas, even though they are on the menu and even though it's November and it would be nice to warm up with tea. The service is a bit busy but quite nice, they ask for tips. For the food and atmosphere, if I'm in Münster I'll definitely come back!

Totally drunk waiters. Someone pukes into the bucket behind the counter. When paying, the waiter complains that everyone wants to pay individually and hits half of them on the table several times with his wallet. And now watch this drive 🏌️

There were six girls in total and we wanted to go out to eat in the Ratskeller. The location is wonderful, but the first positive impression was misleading. Everything outside seemed very hectic and reorganized. I asked an employee in the entrance area if there was still a table available. He left for a moment and after a short time we were allowed to follow him into the basement. Down the stairs we came to the so-called Ratskeller. He briefly thought about which room he would be in, looked left, then right and led us into a large room. Then he left again. The room was uncomfortable and the toilets were next door, which is what the entire room smelled like. We didn't feel well and left the restaurant. It's a shame that we weren't asked whether we wanted to sit outside or inside, or whether the room was okay for us. Unfortunately, I can't give any reviews about the food or the other service.

Satisfactory, food good, service nice, a bit overwhelmed, ambience very nice, only when I visited there was a very unpleasant smell, outdoor seating couldn't be beat, experience Münster... that's why the ambience 5 stars

Tables outside were not cleaned when they were reoccupied. You had to remember to order several times... but what was surprising and disappointing at the same time... the kitchen was already closed at 7:00 p.m. on a Friday. The outdoor dining area was fully occupied. Some tables left, as did we.

Had to wait over half an hour for our food. One dish then came completely cold. When we complained about this, the plate was taken away. We were firmly of the opinion that we were getting a freshly made dish. Instead, the food was reheated in the microwave, including the mustard and everything else. That's what the mustard looked like afterwards, completely runny and unsightly. The bratwurst, which had already been hard, was then inedible. The location is great, but obviously people are taking advantage of this and saving on the quality of the food. Two stars for the nice waitress who apologized several times. Otherwise rather zero stars.

Very pleasantly noticed!!!!!! I can't rate the ambience because we only had a coffee and a pretzel on the terrace But very attentive young team. Due to some mishap they had not managed to "serve up" at the same time. They immediately said that the drinks (coffee) would be on the house for a second round without any comment from us. This is no longer such a great reaction every day. And the latte was great. The pretzel with butter too. Thank you very much!!!!

The prices for the meals are m.m. way too high! Unfortunately I didn't like it either.

Very good restaurant located in a central place on the shopping street of the Old Town. quick service, excellent beer, very decent prices, you can also shelter from the rain and sun here. I definitely recommend it

During a spontaneous trip to Münster with my partner, we spontaneously decided to stop in the Ratskeller. The scenery appealed to both of us and we quickly got a seat. After a long wait, my partner decided to contact a waitress to place an order. She took the order stubbornly. Unfortunately when the order arrived it was incorrect. When we spoke to the staff again, we were again insulted. Our mood was now finally gone. Such a beautiful day turned into a real disaster. We cannot recommend the restaurant to anyone.

Unique location in the heart of Münster with great and friendly service. Gladly again!

Among other things, we ordered a cheeseburger. The waiter couldn't answer what this was. Getting the wrong drinks. We waited over 30 minutes for the dishes. The beef patty was absolutely raw and inedible on the inside. So we let the burger go back. After 25 minutes a new burger arrived, which no longer had the same brioche bread, the mayonnaise with the fries was scraped out of the bucket and left with dried pieces. Still raw meat on the second try. We also let this go back. The waiter didn't apologize once for the kitchen's mistake and responded to the situation with "oh too bad, it can happen". The waiter was very verbal and inattentive. We didn't have to pay for the burger.

Priced appropriately for the location, the food was good. Very friendly service, even though all tables were occupied. The only negative thing are the buses that seem to drive by every few minutes. Unfortunately, very few are electric.

We liked it. Right next to the historic town hall in the city center. Pretty building, partially renovated so President Macron could wave from the balcony. The Ratskeller has outdoor seating areas and rooms in the basement. We sat outside, once late in the evening and once in the afternoon. It's difficult to get a place. We only had drinks, which were good and reasonably priced for the location. Service was quick and friendly. Toilets in the basement. Nice place for a cool drink, a nice chat and to stare.

Drinks were brought incorrectly despite three requests and the food was forgotten. First one of four meals was forgotten, the others were brought cold to the table after an eternity of waiting - even though there wasn't much going on. The last meal came only lukewarm. The meatball was tasteless, the puree was the consistency of a sauce, the onion sauce was watery and not set at all... Never again.

Only had a beer here. It was hot and very busy. But the few staff (staff are not available here either) worked very efficiently, smoothly and friendly. The place is perfect, nice in the center.

I visited the Ratskeller today with a friend and the service was absolutely not satisfactory. I myself come from the catering industry and was absolutely disappointed and dissatisfied.

Bad service...by a gentleman...who has supposedly been in the job for 38 years...I wanted to know something...he then talked his way out of it...and just said a derogatory thing to me...typically German...me you won't see it again. .not recommended with such a statement....L.G.Harry

You sit nicely and have a beautiful view of Münster's Prinzopalmarkt. That's the only good thing about Ratskeller. The service is very unfriendly, the coffee you ordered is literally spit out. It's still cold too. So, never again!

Our visit was very disappointing. The staff was inattentive and seemed very annoyed. Instead of going around every now and then to see if everyone still had something to drink, they stood around, chatted and ate something themselves. We waited 1.5 hours for the food (a burger and fries) even though it really wasn't full! The burger didn't taste good at all. The bun was hard and the meat was inedible. An absolute failure. We definitely won't be coming back, which is of course just a shame given the location and scenery!

Beware, tourist rip-off!!! In the drinks menu, which I generally look at, every 0.4 l of beer costs €5.00, which is absolutely ok for the good location. However, the charge was €6.10 per beer, an absurdity. Apparently the prices have been increased and they haven't gotten around to changing the cards yet. When? Today? Yesterday? 3 weeks ago? Is there a method to this? In any case, I was pretty angry and complained about it, no chance. The waiter, who was initially somewhat friendly, quickly turned into a very unfriendly waiter and just grumpily gave me a receipt. They won't see us again... Update June 11, 2024: the last photo is today's menu. Prices for 0.4L beer have been increased to €5.40, which is totally fine, but that still doesn't justify why we paid €6.10 last week. Apparently the prices here change daily. Everything is a bit confusing...

The location, the situation... unfortunately doesn't hide the fact that you have to bring a lot of time with you. The waiting was annoying. For the prices you can expect more service.

An excelent place for Dinner or Lunch

Today, as we have often done before, we wanted to drink two glasses of Pinot Gris in the Ratskeller. A glass full of hair and dirty. After complaining and promising an exchange, after half an hour, we received exactly the same drink in the same dirty glass. Objected again. Then the wine was poured into a water glass right in front of me. That is not accepted either. Then instead of Pinot Gris they simply offered Riesling and firmly claimed it was Pinot Gris. Bottle was clearly declared Riesling. Thankfully declined. Activities today were all carried out by the male staff member. Never experienced anything comparable in almost 55 years. Wait for a statement from the owner.

The location is nice but you have to wait 20 minutes to be served. Too few staff on duty.

Waited 35 minutes for the order to be taken! Waiters obviously look in a different direction when you make yourself known. We could see how many tables were filled, but a lot of them left because no waiter came! We only waited because we had an appointment and didn't want to walk far. My husband was on the toilet, he didn't wash his hands and preferred to use a Desi cloth! Really sad!!!

Left after 70 minutes of waiting for the food we ordered. The two waiters were absolutely incompetent.

Very disappointing if in 2024 you still have no alternative to cow's milk for coffee and then a cheap little coffee cream from yes! Place in plastic next to it.

We drove from Cologne to visit Münster and stopped at the Ratskeller, among other places. It was packed outside with about 25 people being served by just 2 waiters. We had to wait about 6 minutes for our order to be taken. There was no menu upon request. Only a stand with 3 dishes: waffles, goulash with pasta, asparagus quiche with salad. We decided on the quiche, with a non-alcoholic wheat and a water (0.3). It has to be said that the quiche was extremely good and not a ready-made product, the salad was also fresh, but with a weak dressing. You couldn't see how much the drinks cost based on a map. The service gave me the impression of being slightly annoyed and quite taciturn. The atmosphere was nice, but it was too loud and too hectic directly at the Prinzipalmarkt. If you want a larger selection of dishes and want to eat in a somewhat quieter atmosphere, the Ratskeller is the wrong place. In total we paid €30.70 for two dishes and two drinks.

We had two drinks, a non-alcoholic shandy, which didn't taste like lemonade at all, and a cola. When paying, €9.70 was charged for this; according to the card that we were able to see online, only €8.80 should have been charged. There was neither a drinks menu nor the offer of a receipt. The path to the toilets (one floor below) had been freshly and very wetly mopped. There was no indication of the risk of slipping. In the women's toilet area the floor was soaking wet, and the water and foam on the floor were dirty from probably numerous footprints. To put it simply, the toilets were not very inviting. Once and never again. I'm annoyed that I gave a tip too!

Delicious schnitzel with fries, perfect view of the Lambertikirche. What more could you want? The prices also go towards St. Mark's Square/Venice.

We were there with a registered group and I found it to be a very unpleasant visit: the food was inadequate in terms of price-performance ratio and consisted mostly of convenience products and was completely cold when it was finally served after more than 1 1/2 hours and also consisted of a really very clear portion. Drinks were picked up and served in complete chaos, usually to the wrong person. The staff was not only visibly overwhelmed and unfriendly, but really rude! The ambience is of course a matter of taste, but it was so incredibly loud that you could only communicate by shouting. In a city where there are a lot of excellent good-bourgeois restaurants, you really can't recommend the "Ratskeller"!

The food was ok. Unfortunately too few staff for too many guests. The first beer wasn't cold. Another glass still had lipstick from the previous guest on it. It's a shame, more could be done with the location and the name.

My dialogue with the waiter last week, in the afternoon around 2:30 p.m.: I would like some green tea. - There is no tea today. No other variety? - No. Then a water and the Belgian waffles. - There are no waffles. Then a crepe. - There is no crepe. Then what do you have? - What's on the card. But that’s what’s on the menu?! - Everything else. Unfortunately, I don't understand how you can offer many types of tea on the menu, but then there isn't a single one. The menu consisted of simple printed sheets, including seasonal asparagus dishes, so it was obviously updated regularly. They should have at least taken out the crepe - which formed a whole category of its own - and the waffles. The food that was ultimately served was okay. The ambience was also okay, although the tables outside were too narrow - you could hardly get to your seat and you got all the smoke from the neighboring tables.

The restaurant was disappointing with unfriendly and overwhelmed staff as well as a noisy atmosphere due to 2 large groups in one room. The price/performance ratio was not adequate as the quality of the food did not match the price. Overall the experience was disappointing and I cannot recommend the restaurant.

I would have expected a somewhat more rustic atmosphere at the Ratskeller, which gives it its name. The barrel vaults are interesting, but with the light beige plastered walls everything looks pretty “clean”. At one point the cook was a little good about the salt, but basically it was okay and tasty.

I was there yesterday with a larger group and I really enjoyed it. Despite 15 dishes, we didn't have to wait long and the food was very tasty. I can definitely recommend the beef fillet.

Unfortunately, the wine we ordered was no longer there. It's a shame, especially for this higher price category. The other wine on the menu was okay. Then the food came. The soup was okay. We had a "small menu" that seemed to have been created especially for us, but the waitress forgot to mention that not everything was available there either. So we got fried potatoes instead of dumplings. Without information or questions. The beef roulade was at least great. A chocolate mousse for dessert, a disaster! It wasn't mousse or chocolate. Thanks, but unfortunately not again...

We had reserved with a larger group of around 25 people. To our surprise, we were given our own menu options menu with the choice of a 2 or 3 course menu instead of à la carte service. This was not communicated in advance. There was also only one vegetarian dish (salad with goat cheese). The dish "Roulade [...] with bread dumplings [...]" was suddenly served with fried potatoes instead of dumplings. That's a bit surprising when there is a special ticket for a Saturday evening. Especially since the information that there was a different side dish than stated on the menu was only given when it was served and not when the order was placed. The "roast beef", which was brought in the form of a steak, was barely pink on the inside for some people. The roulades, fried potatoes and red cabbage were delicious as was the wine; the armchairs comfortable. However, white wine glasses were served for the red wine. For dessert, some people had créme brúlée (there was a "vegetarian" note on our menu, which was subsequently crossed out with a pen). For several people this was covered with a black crust (see photo). In contrast, in others the caramel layer was very thin. The black-coated créme brúlée was brought back to the kitchen independently about 10 minutes after it was served, as the service did not notice a wave. However, a new, unburned créme brúlée was then served. Overall it was below average - especially in terms of price-performance ratio. Therefore, overall it is unfortunately less recommended.

So if you have everything from Knorr, Maggi and Dr. Oetker likes and can serve large enough portions and is in the right place here. Apparently you can get a table here quite spontaneously. Everything was ready to eat and instant products, even the potatoes came out of the bag. Tip if you want your steak medium rare, order something rare. The cellar and service were okay, but worse than in comparable restaurants in Münster. No bon appetit and after you have finished your order the table is ignored until you go to the front to pay. Toilets were dirty and should be checked more often. The ambience is just that of a rustic cellar where perhaps a bit of decor is missing with pictures or tapestries.

Nice ambience with candles and floral decorations. The prices are also a little higher than elsewhere. Unfortunately, the staff isn't particularly friendly either, and even seemed a bit annoyed.

A culinary experience in a class of its own! The kale stew and the roulade in the Ratskeller enchanted my taste buds. Every bite was a feast for the senses. But what really made this visit unforgettable was the outstanding service. The staff were attentive, friendly and made sure every moment was enjoyed. The Ratskeller is definitely a gem on the culinary scene and will remain my first choice for special occasions. A big thank you to the entire team for an unforgettable gastronomic experience! And the ambience in the vaulted cellar in the middle of Münster city center is simply great.

Food and drinks as well as the service itself were good but unfortunately it was too cold there in January and the heating was not turned up higher. So everyone had to sit there with a blanket.

Went to the Ratskeller on New Year's Eve and ordered the menu. It was a horror evening. The waitress was cheeky and completely overwhelmed. The wrong food was served and it was also cold. Drinks also wrong. After the third course we were asked if we had already had the first course. All this after 1.5 hours. I got to know the worst gastronomy today. It drafted like pike soup so you had to sit in your coat.

Had the worst mulled wine ever here. Heat up cheap dredged wine and then sell it for €5. Pay in cash on the terrace, that too.

Unbelievably rude barman swearing atus and using derigatory language! Having drinks outside on Boxing Day 26.12.2023, 4 pm and wishing to pay, a barman of Asian look shouted and swore at us using vulgar language. We'd been waiting 15 min to pay and this guy had been ignoring us..

For the fact that it's called Ratskeller you expect a certain upscale atmosphere but what you get is a boring ambience and barely acceptable service. The food is okay in good German and should be much better for the price. The toilets were ok 👍. You have to know

Naast het diner hebben we ook nog een lunch gebruikt. De bediening was slecht.

WIR waren gestern Abend mit 7 Personen dort Essen. 5 Essen wurden lauwarm serviert, das 6Essen Steak war ungenießbar total Zeh.. Das Nudelgericht ist auch nicht zu empfehlen Kellner sehr unfreundlich. Cola Gläser dreckig. Einmal und nie wieder.

Vreselijk onbeleefde obers, waarvan een jonge jongen geen Duits, Nederlands of Engels spreekt. Als je op het terras zit, moet je blijkbaar ergens beneden in een kelder je bestelling doen...totdat ineens een oudere ober ten tonele verschijnt die wel de bestellingen opneemt. Moet twee keer opnieuw gevraagd worden wat we ook alweer hadden, erg slechte service. Jammer, want het terras ligt er erg leuk met uitzicht op de gezellige winkelstraat. Een adresje met veel potentie dus, maar beter eerst het personeel vervangen!

Preis Leistung passt hier überhaupt nicht! Essen war unterer Durchschnitt. Service war nett, aufmerksam und schnell.

Die Portion sind sehr klein für den Preis

Wir waren mit 9 Personen dort zum Abendessen, unten in der „Tonne“. Wir wurden an einem viel zu langen Tisch gesetzt. Das Ambiente war nicht schön. Leider wurde uns das Essen lauwarm serviert, was dann auch nicht mehr richtig schmeckt. Das einzige, was an meinem Gericht gut war, war die Soße. Der Service hinkte auch. Mein Fazit: Da möchte ich nicht noch einmal hin.

Das Essen war richtig lecker, die Mensch die da arbeiten voll nett und die Atmosphäre richtig gut. Empfehle da zu essen

Waren letzten Freitag mit einigen Kollegen zum Jahresabschluss dort essen. Das Essen super lecker, Bedienung mega freundlich. Ambiente sehr gemütlich!

Das Ambiente ist rustikal und passend zum Gewölbekeller. Auch für größere Gruppen findet sich ausreichen dPlatz ohne gedrängt zu sitzen. Die Qualität der Speisen war sehr gut, die Quantität passt allerdings nicht wirklich zum Preis. Die Portionsgröße ist doch überschaubar und der aufgerufene Preis dann auch nicht durch die Qualität zu begründen.

Мило, вкусно. Самый центр города. В 100,200,500 метрах центральных достопримечательностей города. Вечерами до поздна глинтвейн. Атмосфера праздника в тёплых уютных пледах в компании друзей, с чашкой горячего глинтвейна. По-моему звучит неплохо 🙂

Völlig andere Speisekarte wie online. Die von uns bestellten Gerichte waren einfachster Art und viel zu teuer. Service war gut.

Das Essen war genießbar, schreit allerdings nicht nach einem 2. Besuch! Der Service war gut und das Ambiente und die Lage des Restaurants ist top!

Leider war das Essen nicht angenehm, der Salat schon längere Zeit angemacht und regelrecht vergilbt und „lätschig“! Unter einem warmen Essen verstehe ich wirklich sehr warm und nicht lau! Der Service war befriedigend. Es gibt keinen Grund, diese Lokalität erneut aufzusuchen. Definitiv keine Empfehlung!

Attraktive Speise- + Getränkekarte. Über Tag tolle Sitzmöglichleiten vor dem Restaurant. Parken an mehreren Stellen in Tiefgaragen gut möglich.
