Spontaneous decisions are often the best...Location looks well maintained both inside and out, clean and in the typical INDI style. Very friendly, fast service, a large selection of dishes and something for everyone. The taste of our meal was a real delight, next time we would like to try the “spicy Indian cuisine” even more intensively. All in all, an absolute recommendation for lovers of Indian cuisine. We'll definitely be back.

The restaurant was more of a chance find. I would actually have liked to sit outside in this weather, but everything was full. In the end it was very pleasant inside. The food was very tasty and plentiful, the service was friendly and quick. And very attentive: I asked my husband if he would "help" me with the ice cream and I promptly received 2 spoons with my order :) It's a real shame that we live so far away...

Great area, great ambience and the food is really delicious. We (2 people) each had spicy lamb and duck. Really well seasoned and the spiciness is pleasant. I was personally very impressed by the lamb, as I am actually very skeptical about the taste. However, I was proven wrong here - really tender and the taste was unique. I can really recommend it.

Very good, tasty food that is a bit different from the usual Indian food. Courteous service that answers questions in a friendly and patient manner. Well-kept ambience, both outdoors and indoors. We're looking forward to next time.

Underground, in every way! We were there with 40 (!) people as part of our office summer party and despite multiple arrangements and confirmations from the boss, nothing was prepared for us when we arrived at the agreed reservation time. We had agreed that the entire terrace or the interior would be prepared for our group and a previously arranged buffet, nothing of the sort was the case - on the contrary: the terrace was full of other people! Only after several questions and complaints on my part, also because we were under time pressure - I had also communicated this beforehand - did we slowly make moves to collect from the guests and somehow (chaotically) push tables together. After 45 minutes standing on the street with 40 people!!! We could then sit down. After waiting for over an hour, the food was ready, which in itself tasted good, the only plus point. There was not a single word of apology or even an acknowledgment from the boss and his team - on the contrary, I was attacked! So to sum up, I can only say that I don't recommend this restaurant to anyone and I'm really extremely disappointed and angry with how things turned out here.

The MASALA restaurant in the historic Sackpfeiffenmühle in the Lange Brücke district in Erfurt serves very fine Indian cuisine. Idyllically located by the river, you can enjoy the aromatic dishes in peace on the summer terrace. We were attracted by the oriental scents as we passed by and enjoyed ice-cold, homemade lemonade, tender chicken in an oriental herb sauce with spinach, chili, mint and very tender grilled lamb in masala sauce in a wonderfully relaxed manner and yet in the immediate vicinity of the cathedral. There was also fragrant basmati rice and spicy garlic bread. A visit during your lunch break is particularly worthwhile. From Tuesday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. there is an extensive selection of lunch specials including soup or salad at reasonable prices. Whether with or without meat - there is something for every taste here too. We received extremely friendly and courteous service and would love to come back.

It’s a great experience. The ambiance is very welcoming and charming. This cozy restaurant has left the best impressions! I have tried many Indian restaurants in Germany but this place hit differently I say this is my absolute favourite restaurant and the good thing about this place is you can ask them which style you need and they prepare. The food of India is better known for its spiciness and Masala has everything in itself.

Ordered food over the phone and picked it up. It was very quick and very tasty. We only chose vegetarian dishes and it was super varied. Recommendation!

The restaurant has delicious and diverse Indian food. Especially with the extra rice, you will definitely always be full. We had to wait 10 minutes for a table (it was a Friday evening and we hadn't made a reservation), but after a few minutes we were surprised with a free glass of sparkling wine. At the same time, the service was also super attentive 🙂‍↕️

Nice ambience with some traditional Indian touches. The eye eats right along with it. A large selection of different dishes to suit everyone. A 10 out of 10 in terms of taste. I can only recommend it to everyone. Looking forward to my next visit!

Food was excellent. We chose the place for a girls' night out. The decor is very pretty. Price/performance was right for us. The only thing we weren't entirely happy with was the payment (you couldn't pay individually, only the total bill). Still full marks because the food tasted really great.

Dear Masala Erfurt team, When we are out and about in the city of Erfurt and think about what we could eat, there is actually only one choice for us. We always choose your restaurant. It is not only the best Indian restaurant, but for us by far the only best! We always feel warmly welcome, almost like friends invited to a loving family. Even if we forget to make a reservation, we will still find a way to find space. Every employee is friendly, warm and accommodating, even on difficult days and times; you feel warmly welcomed every time you visit. The food is cooked with passion and served fresh. We wanted to write a review a long time ago, but it's difficult to find the right words for such delicious food, a cozy atmosphere and special, nice people. We will come more often in the future! In short: Price/performance doesn't fit (quite high prices, for a relatively small portion (see pictures). The number 64 on the menu is supposed to be tender lamb with an Indian sauce. The taste of the sauce was great, but the " "Lamb" tasted more like tender pork goulash. Picture number 2, is the starter 15. Indian chicken with various sauces. The chicken was only lukewarm and the consistency was almost indistinguishable from plain McNuggets. We had dinner there yesterday with a few friends. The restaurant looks great both from the outside and the inside. The ambience was right. However, eating, well... as described above. As far as service is concerned, everything was fine. However, there is room for improvement in the communication between the guests and the waitress (barriers to communication). The final billing was quite suspect. Despite repeatedly answering the question of how we would like to pay, we were constantly asked whether we would prefer to pay in cash rather than by card. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant. Since I consider the food to be the most important thing, that's 2.5/5 stars for me.

Very classy restaurant with a large selection of dishes but also a well-stocked bar. There are also vegetarian and vegan dishes. Appetizers came very quickly. The soup was to die for. We then had to wait almost an hour for the main courses, hence only 4 stars. But we were rewarded with excellent food. Everything fits, everything tastes good and spicy means spicy. Be sure to reserve... or wait at the bar.

Absolute warning!!! Contaminated food. My husband and I visited the restaurant for lunch on February 11, 2024. In the evening we were surprised with food poisoning. Vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, abdominal cramps. The emergency services have now taken him to the hospital; he could no longer stand.

Thanks to the wonderful food, serious food poisoning was diagnosed that night and I was allowed to spend 5 hours in the hospital. My daughter, my partner and a friend with the same complaints. Additionally very bad service! NEVER AGAIN! The visit will have legal consequences for you!

Very tasty and very nice owners

We were there spontaneously today based on the recommendation of a colleague. Even though the reservation book was full, they still found a table for us. As a drink we had the Indian non-alcoholic cocktail, which is highly recommended. The dish I ordered was a lentil dish (No. 112). A few years ago I was lucky enough to be able to enjoy an original Indian lentil dish with friends every now and then and this memory floated in my mind when I ordered here today. What can I say. It was fantastic, every spoonful was a delight. My companion's dish was also very tasty. For dessert there was cardamom ice cream, which was also excellent. I will definitely come back soon and often. But you should definitely make a reservation to be sure to get a table 😊

The food was really excellent. Only reserved tables should perhaps be marked with the time so that you don't have to wait at the bar even though you have reserved. It's common practice in other restaurants, so it shouldn't be a problem here either. Otherwise everything was great, the service was also very friendly.

A cozy restaurant with traditional furnishings. The food was very good! The only point of criticism in my opinion was that very rarely, if at all, a waiter came to the table to accept further requests; even with glasses and bottles that have been emptied for a long time.

Anyone who likes spices, spiciness and Indian cuisine will get their money's worth here. Vegetarian alternatives are also available with a sufficient selection. The starter mix plates were okay, the vegetarian snacks stood out here too, the rest met the standard. The Tandori dishes are highly recommended. The duck dishes were optimally grilled. The okra was the best we've had in a long time. For my part, I'm a sucker for the perfection of spicy Indian cuisine, so if you're one of those diehards, you should try Vindaloo dishes and have enough rice or bread ready because they'll make you sweat. Dessert mix was a very tasty rounding off of the whole thing. In summary, I can highly recommend the visit, I will definitely come back, but the German palate has to like Indian cuisine, enjoy it

Cocktail (not pictured) was good. The cheese Naan was pretty good, not as good as in some places but definitely itely better than others. Lamm biryani was really good, been here a few times now and love this restaurant overall. I love the Mango schnapps at the end!

Wenn du den authentischen Geschmack der indischen Küche erleben möchten, dann ist dies das beste indische Restaurant in Erfurt. Das Essen hier enttäuscht mich nie, es ist, als wäre ich wieder zu Hause in Indien. Tolles Essen und toller Service. Ich war schon mehrere Male hier und werde dies auch weiterhin tun!

Das Restaurant Masala entpuppte sich leider als das schlechteste indische Restaurant, welches wir bisher in Deutschland besuchten. Zunächst bekamen wir zwei vollkommen ungewürzte Gerichte und baten um Salz und Pfeffer. Kurz darauf bot uns der Kellner an beide Essen in der Küche nachwürzen zu lassen. Beide Essen verschwanden für ca. 5 Minuten in der Küche - danach war der Reis kalt und das Essen vollkommen ungenießbar, weil keine Gewürze sondern ausschließlich Chili nachgelegt wurde. Spannend war, dass nacheinander sämtliches Personal aus der Küche kam, um zu schauen, wie wir uns ver(hielten). Die indische Küche bietet so viele tolle Gewürze, die leider gar nicht angewendet wurden… Nicht zu empfehlen!

Wir sind eher durch Zufall hier gelandet. Es war Samstag Abend, aber trotzdem war es kein Problem hier einen Tisch zu bekommen, trotz kurzer Wartezeit weil es sehr voll war (lohnt sich aber definitiv). Das Essen war wirklich sehr lecker und authentisch und ich kann das Masala jedem weiterempfehlen. Meine Begleitung und ich waren durchweg begeistert. Super schneller, freundlicher Service, perfektes Essen und ein gemütliched Ambiente. Ich habe sehr selten so gut indisch gegessen und wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder! Das Erlebnis an dem Abend hat uns vom Anfang bis zum Ende abgeholt!

Took some of my colleagues for a dinner. The guys were nice enough to accommodate us even though we had not made any reservation. The food was ok, better than the many Indian restaurants I have been to in Europe. My colleagues liked it much more than I did.

Sehr gutes Restaurant mitten in der Stadt und doch etwas abseits vom großen Trubel gelegen. Das Essen ist sehr lecker, die Portionen ausreichend, die Preise angemessen. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und umsichtig. Ein Besuch ist sehr empfehlenswert.

War zum ersten mal mit Freundinnen hier, ich kann es unbedingt weiter empfehlen. Der Service ließ am Ende zu wünschen übrig, wir sollten einzeln nach vorn und bezahlen. Ich ging meiner Vorgängerin nach, da wurde ich gleich energisch angesprochen...EINZELN ... oh dachte ich und ging ein Schritt zurück. Aber alle Essen waren sehr lecker.Aber ich geh nicht mehr hin.

I loved it, we were 8 guys and we had lunch during October-fest, we all had great time. The ambience was nice and guess what they also had Somp (Fennel Seeds) 🔥.

Wer gerne indische Küche mag, ist hier an der richtigen Adresse. Die Portionen sind nicht nur reichhaltig sondern auch köstlich. Wenn man indisch scharf möchte, bekommt man es hier. Wir waren hier mit Freunden und haben von verschiedenen Gerichten probiert und ich muss sagen, es war alles richtig lecker. Wir waren schon in verschiedenen indischen Restaurants, aber dieses wird unser Favorit. Bedienung sehr freundlich. Nur bei den Getränken waren sie leider nicht so aufmerksam. Schade. Aber ansonsten auf jeden Fall zu empfehlen.

Kleine, fast winzige Portionen, fürstliche Preise. Qualitativ nichts besonderes. Salat aus der Tüte, Dressing aus der Flasche, rote Soße auch völlig gewöhnlich. Fleisch im Gericht 4 kleine Würfelchen. Kein indisches Flair. Ich staune über die hervorragenden Bewertungen.

Being a punjabi myself, i can definitely say the food tastes authentic and fresh. We often visit erfurt and whenever we do, Masala is always our go-to food outlet. The owner is very friendly and cooperative. The staff is also professional. The ambience is relaxed and not too loud and overwhelming. I would recommend everyone to visit here if you are in Erfurt.

Schönes authentisches Indisches Restaurant. Reservierung empfohlen. Parkplätze in der näheren Umgebung (Parkhaus oder ähnliches). Der Service war sehr freundlich & trotz vollem Lokal bemüht & es hat auch alles nicht lange gedauert. Geschmacklich gut + Preisleistung angemessen. Empfehlung geht raus + wir kommen gerne wieder...
