Radisson Blu Hotel, Karlsruhe in Ettlingen

My stay at the Radisson Blu in Karlsruhe, or more accurately in Ettlingen, was generally okay. As a VIP member, I unfortunately only received a fairly minor room upgrade. Unfortunately, in my first room, which was quite large, I could hear a constant humming of some kind of ventilation system. However, the very friendly staff at reception immediately arranged for me to be given a new room. Everything was fine there. I had chosen the hotel because of the sauna and wellness area, but unfortunately, this particular area was closed due to damage. That was a real disappointment, but it can happen. Unfortunately, the breakfast was also just standard fare and lacked a great deal of variety. Compared to the many other Radisson hotels I've stayed at in the last 12 months, there's definitely room for improvement in terms of VIP benefits and breakfast. What a shame!

It's a fine a hotel if you just want to survive the night and then continue your travels. We had a weird noise in the room which was a bit annoying, other than that the rooms are sufficient. Breakfast is expensive, you'd be better off getting something at a gas station.

Unfortunately, room service didn't arrive until 7 p.m. We'd just returned from a nearly 30-km hike... no, we didn't want any more. The little welcome gift (e.g., a bottle of water in the room) was also missing. When we pointed this out, there were many reasons... why... actually, it would have been enough to just hand us a bottle... and that's fine... what a shame... I stay at Radisson hotels a lot while traveling in Europe... and I'm used to much better.

Very slow service. It really took a long time to check in. You need to pay for the parking!! 17€ per day . Rooms are very beautiful and location is perfect as it is next to the highway and not far from Karlsruhe.

Clean and excellent for those going from Paris to Munich or Kaprun to relax in it. The receptionist, Sandy, was very polite.

I only slept here one night on my way to Spain, but everything was positive - a hotel right on the highway with a large private parking lot, 24-hour reception, nice rooms and a comfortable bed.

Positive aspects include the location, ample parking, and the staff. Less positive are the rooms, which are in need of renovation. In my experience, the showerhead in the bathroom was broken. The bathtub wouldn't drain. The pillows are very soft.

This hotel is unreachable by phone and doesn't respond to emails. That's not customer-friendly!

Check-in: An Evening Between Ghosting and Room Roulette Arrived at 10 p.m., the lobby: empty. No receptionist, no concierge, not even a dusty bellboy in sight. I almost started googling Marriott's hotline. After ten minutes of silence – I was about to check myself in – someone finally came out of the restaurant and said kindly, "Someone will be here soon." Aha. So it wasn't a ghost hotel after all. Then he came: a young man with a visible speech impediment. Friendly – ​​yes. Professional? More like an internship course. I mean, I used to work for a hotel chain myself – what happened here wouldn't even have survived the internal quality control process as a case study. Room 1: Me and the surprise guest already present Room 440. Key card unlocked, door opened... and who was sitting there? A completely perplexed hotel guest. He: "What are you doing in my room?" Me: "Oops – I'm wondering that too." I apologized (several times), left the scene, and trotted back to reception. If anyone's looking for me, I'm the one with the suitcase, already doing a lap of honor through the hotel. Room 2: Not ready for the big entrance yet Room 204. New hope, new door card, new luck? Not really. The cleaning lady obviously hadn't finished her coffee yet. The room was messy – as unprepared as my trust in the hotel. Room 3: Finally arrived… halfway Third attempt. And lo and behold: a room that was either unoccupied or in the process of being dismantled. I had officially arrived. Finally. And as I said – the coffee machine in the morning: a real highlight. Someone had thought about it. The coffee was good. Maybe too good compared to the rest of the stay. Small plus, big gaps The welcome drink was theoretically available – in practice, it was more like, "Is there something written there? Can I drink it?" The reception: Not staffed at all times. A VIP desk that seems to have only gathered VIP dust. Those who check out early in the morning leave the hotel like a ninja – unobserved and unattended. Conclusion: Radisson Club – it was nice. It used to be. I've spent many nights at Radisson. These days, I prefer to spend my time avoiding hotels called Radisson. Professional standards look different – ​​especially if you used to be part of the brand yourself and know how things should work. If I had come as a mystery checker, there would have been a hefty to-do list – with exclamation marks. My Radisson points are used up. And with them, my patience. I'm back with Marriott – not because they're perfect, but because they haven't forgotten what hospitality means.

It's a shame that when we returned, the Binder room wasn't ready at 5 p.m. We stayed there for two nights, and one of the most important tasks is to get the room ready before the guest returns. We left around 11 a.m. and asked specifically about the room cleaning. Reply from reception: Yes, of course. The results were the opposite. I wouldn't have expected that from the Radisson. It's completely unacceptable.

I stayed at the Radisson Blu Karlsruhe recently and while the hotel itself is generally well-maintained and the staff professional, I was extremely frustrated to discover that they do not accept cash under any circumstances. This policy is not only inconvenient, especially for travelers who prefer or rely on cash, but also raises concerns about inclusivity and personal freedom. For many, using cash is a deliberate choice- whether for privacy, budgeting, or simply out of habit. Forcing guests into a cashless system feels unnecessarily restrictive and frankly, a bit authoritarian. A hotel of this caliber should serve a wide range of guests, including those who expect the basic right to choose how they pay. Cash is still legal tender in Germany and Europe-refusing it entirely sends the wrong message! I sincerely hope the management reconsiders this approach and starts accommodating all forms of payment... Until then, I’ll be choosing more flexible hotels in the future!

Good highway access. Ample parking is available at the hotel and in the surrounding area. Public transport connections are available. Located away from the city centers of Ettlingen and Karlsruhe, it's ideal as a stopover on long-distance journeys.

I've been in the Karlsruhe-Ettlingen area frequently for work for the past six months. The Radisson Blu is my main stop. Very nice rooms, beds, and bathrooms. Breakfast is excellent. Radisson Blu membership offers great rates and benefits. Excellent access to the highway. Just a stone's throw from Karlsruhe. Highly recommended.

We arrived at 01.00. On booking.com there are still 7 rooms available. The receptionist insisted that he had no rooms available and did not want to help. Really very bad service

Great hotel room but totally ridiculous parking fee - 17 euros (per day)! Absurd for this location. So even if you are a hotel guest you have to pay this. Also not clearly indicated when entering the parking lot. Feels like a covert way to get more for an overnight stay.

Great hotel. It was 39 degrees here and the air conditioning couldn't handle it so very hot in the room. Otherwise everything a hotel room should have.

Location was great, just off the highway but in a quiet location. It was easy to check in and offload our luggage at the entrance. We were greeted warmly by the friendly staff at both the reception desk and bar/restaurant. Great service. Food and drink prices were decent. Appreciated the little things, like free peanut snacks during happy hour. Breakfast buffet was a terrific value, similar to the Radisson Blu we stayed at in Bruges in 2022. Always lots of delicious choices. Room was spacious and comfortable. Although we didn't use them, the sauna and exercise room were great benefits. It would have been nice to have a note card in our room to provide an orientation with a short description of available hotel benefits and services and their operating hours.

We were given a room that had water damage in the bathroom. We were immediately upgraded to a better category. This room had an unpleasant odor in the bathroom, and the snow-white pillow had dark stains. The receptionist at checkout wasn't impressed. The parking costs are also poorly or not at all disclosed. The sign at the entrance barrier is faded beyond recognition. In our case, the parking fee was €17 (late check-in and morning check-out). The receptionist was also unaffected: it would be listed "everywhere" online. Unfortunately, this isn't mentioned in the online booking, nor is there any further information under "Services" on the hotel's website, except that "parking" is generally offered. Unfortunately, there was no customer service on the day of check-out.

What a fantastic hotel! We had a training session there and it was simply wonderful. The food was absolutely fantastic. They served these little muffins – they were so delicious! 😀 The service always made sure we were well looked after and happy. Highly recommended.

I had an overall pleasant stay at the Radisson Blu Hotel Ettlingen. The hotel impresses with its modern design, clean and well-equipped rooms as well as a very friendly and helpful staff. I would particularly like to highlight the rich breakfast buffet with fresh, regional products - no wish is left unfulfilled! The location is ideal: quiet, but still central, with good connections to downtown Karlsruhe. There are also sufficient parking spaces. The wellness area with sauna and fitness room is a great extra for anyone who wants to relax after a long day. I can fully recommend the hotel – both for business trips and for a relaxing short vacation.

I liked the room, and the beds were comfortable. The only thing that was really annoying was the water in the bathroom, which constantly fluctuated between hot and cold. The room numbers on the carpet took some getting used to; it took a while to notice them and find the room. Breakfast was okay; nothing to complain about. The parking fee in the adjacent hotel parking lot was €17 from about 8:30 p.m. to 7:45 a.m....quite a hefty price for hotel guests outside of town.

I was recently here for business. Since my employer covered the costs, they are not included in the review. Positive: - The hotel looks nice from the inside - The room is quite large - There is a bar - The TV is quite large for a hotel, I'd say 42 inches, maybe even 48 inches - German TV is also available - There is an overhead shower in the shower - Shampoo is within easy reach - The Wi-Fi devices are isolated. I didn't find any other devices besides the gateway - There is an air conditioner - There is a closet with a mirror - The room light can be switched on from the bed Neutral: - Double bed with separate mattresses - Wi-Fi does not require authentication by name or room number - The internet speed test showed 130 down and 50 up in my case - The air conditioning controls are yellowed - The room has a carpet - Large mirror in the hallway area. Smaller mirrors in the room - Parking is available - The "no room cleaning" sign was on the bed, but the bracket was torn. The staff apparently didn't notice. - Toilet seat doesn't have a soft-close mechanism. - Duvet was tucked under the mattress in the French style. - The mattress was estimated to be a firmness level of 3. - Curtains had a different pattern. - The TV experience was limited. LCD TV with VA panel? Colors were rather pale. Significant backlight bleeding. The remote control showed clear signs of wear. However, since I'm not in the hotel to watch TV, this rating remains below neutral. Negative: - The hotel looks like a mess from the outside. Verdigris on the roof and under the windows shows clear signs of weathering. There's a need for action here, especially with the facade cleaning. - Shower has a half-open pane. So, you inevitably flood half the bathroom when you shower. A real nuisance. - The bar wasn't stocked. I'm always happy when there's water in it. That wasn't the case. - There's a device in the room that requires the room card to be inserted. It could work without it! - The light goes out immediately as soon as you swipe the card, leaving you in the dark.

Seriously... DON'T! We are Radisson members, and my husband stupidly paid €100 MORE for our two nights than we could have got on Booking.com without being members (Fri 28 Feb - Sun 2 Mar). There was no buffet restaurant as advertised. We were in room 449, and the WiFi which I rely on for work, was abysmal and constantly dropped out - costing me privately paid for data. There was nothing on the menu that I could eat (vegan), so had to compromise with the Steinpilz ravioli... Which was average and over €20! And I could not taste any hint of Steinpilz. The best was our waiter, Mehmud. He was so lovely. We wanted to leave a HUGE tip for him, but the overpriced and average food used up our budget. The room was spacious, neat and clean - there was water, soap, lovely lighting and a tv... but that is what I would expect when paying over €160 per night for a room. We could however hear the motorway traffic outside the window. Avoid chains! They pay their staff nothing and rely on our good will to subsidise the pay. Rather stay at a family run, privately owned business whose profits do not go to shareholders at the expense of underpaid staff.

Overall good stay. Nice room, a bit impersonal maybe but this is what you expect in such a large hotel "castle". Location was nice, too, as it is super close to the highways and thus good reachable, but overall rather a business-district, nothing nice to walk around. The only thing - service must be better. On-site it was ok, but I urgently needed the invoice being sent to me afterwards. I tried to reach them for a week(mail, multiple calls, via the broker website) - even reached out to the hotel manager. No response, no chance to reach them afterwards. Better don't forget anything otherwise you might need to show up in person again.

Overall, I can recommend the hotel! The reception staff is very friendly. It's just a shame that the bar isn't open until the evening (from 6 p.m.) and they don't even serve coffee (the coffee machine is open from 5 a.m. to 12 p.m.). Breakfast was great! There's a drinks machine, but the prices are rather expensive.

The hotel is showing its age. Otherwise, the rooms are okay. The TVs have very poor picture quality. The hotel's food is unfortunately poor. The breakfast buffet is poor and more reminiscent of a student cafeteria or youth hostel. Eating there in the evening is not recommended. Besides the extremely limited menu, the prices are unreasonable.

Stayed here on our way to Austria. Rooms were excellent, with super comfy beds and an excellent shower. Reception and restaurant staff were excellent. The only downside was our breakfast door tag wasn't collected so we didn't have breakfast delivered to our room so had to take our dogs to the restaurant (which we were trying to avoid). Breakfast was delicious, however!

Actually a perfect hotel with extremely friendly staff. But €17 for an unguarded outdoor parking space is simply not acceptable. There used to be free exit tickets, at least for direct bookers, but after a change in management, this bonus was canceled according to the lady at check-in. Maybe this is also the reason that breakfast has become so simple (no more salmon, just cheap sausage and cheese, etc.). Work on it, you have a great hotel.

Beautifully secluded on the edge of the forest. Very good facilities and nice service. The food was also very tasty.

The room facilities are great! Kettle with a selection of teas and instant coffee. There was also an ironing board and iron in the closet and a little gift from the hotel in the form of a few sweets! The breakfast is amazing, with everything you could want. I would love to come back!

Price/performance is unbeatable. We noticed the smell dispersed throughout the hotel unpleasantly. The hotel is a bit older. But it has been well renovated.

I stayed in the hotel for a 4-night short break and can only say it was a really great hotel. Rooms clean, breakfast lots of choice, everyone tried very hard and was extremely friendly and accommodating. What should be highlighted is the reception, especially Valerija, who always has a smile on her face and no wish remains unfulfilled.

I had a really nice stay at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Karlsruhe. The rooms were super nice, tidy and clean - really a fresh experience. The staff were professional and helpful, both in reception, bar and restaurant, which contributed to a positive atmosphere throughout the stay. The breakfast was good and contained a wide selection. However, it is a shame that the scrambled eggs were of the powder type, which lowered the overall impression somewhat. In summary, a really good hotel with a high standard, although the breakfast could have been a bit better. Would definitely recommend this hotel!

Prices in the restaurant are adjusted to the occupancy of the hotel. High occupancy = higher prices for the food!

Price/quality = perfect. Spacious parking, spacious beds. Friendly staff, easier to eat something in the evening. The room coffee machine malfunctions and we lost 50% of the pods. Too bad the shower glass doesn't have a silicone band at the bottom. Even with careful action, the toilet will flood. The extraction had also lacked thorough maintenance.

Basically an average Radisson as you know it, but the service here is at the worst level ever experienced. Unfortunately, as a guest with a VIP level, it wasn't the first time that the VIP counter was the only manned counter for faster check-in. So I waited in line for almost half an hour to check in. When asked, it was said that there were absences due to illness. This justification is given as standard and has already been received several times. Strangely, every time we arrive, there seems to be only one member of staff at check-in due to illness. What a coincidence... We wanted to use our early check-in as VIP guests and were given room xyz. Unfortunately our room was not ready. When we arrived we found HouseKeeping. The lady, who was obviously overwhelmed and irritated by the situation and spoke no German and hardly any English, asked us - equally surprised at the encounter - to wait another 15 minutes. There were about 20 of them, but the housekeeper was very friendly and helpful. She felt a little sorry for her after her description that the reception had told her that the room was now available, etc. About 15 minutes after we were able to move into the room, another lady from housekeeping burst into our room without knocking or anything like that. "Oh. Sorry. I was told to clean this room?". Overall, everything was very disorganized and, as usual, with excuses and hypocritical justifications from the reception. Good is different.

Brilliant hotel, really clean, spacious rooms, just off the motorway so a perfect place to go and carry straight on with our journey in the morning. First time at a Radisson Blue, would definitely use this chain again. Free coffee in the morning was an added bonus.

I have been calling the hotel for 6h after a luggage got forgotten in a room. Nobody picks up the phone except when calling the booking number who can’t do anything about it. Not sure how anyone can get any support like that.

Everything was almost perfect! We were supposed to stay 2 nights...but the quality of service (especially from Francesca!) encouraged us to extend for 2 more nights 🤩 Only the number of electrical terminals deserves to be reviewed: only 1 for the entire hotel, while many guests have electric vehicles!

Parking costs of 17 Euros per night should be added to the price when comparing hotels (no info at all from the hotel).

Rooms are no longer up to date and the air conditioning unfortunately did not work when the outside temperatures were high. If the windows are open, there is of course street noise due to the location. Booked directly via the Radisson Blu website stating the child's age (<1 year) and also asked for a baby bed in the comments. The lady at check-in allocated a room with an extra adult bed. She said that both the age of the child when making the reservation and the comment about the baby bed are usually not forwarded in the system. It would be better if I sent another email next time (in addition to stating the age and additional comments). Luckily, the colleague next door picked it up straight away and instead of discussing the system asked, “If you need a baby bed, we can organize that straight away”. The breakfast is ok. The beds are comfortable. Large parking lot in front of the door. Overall ok but nothing more than that.

Very bad experience. At 2 o'clock at night we were suddenly startled by other guests standing at our bedside. Then a discussion with the hotel staff about the fact that we are in the room in question. Please understand that a room is assigned incorrectly at check-in. However, hotel staff must understand that something like this is not a customer's problem and certainly not at 2 am. I experienced a similar situation two years ago. We have often spent the night here, but this is the last time.

Unfortunately too close to the road. You can't sleep here with the windows open. When the windows are closed you can't hear anything anymore. So you have to choose between convenient transport connections and peace and quiet.

Excellent and comfortable hotel with very friendly staff, right along the highway towards Stuttgart. I opted for a slightly more expensive room. It was spacious and comfortable with a good bed. There is ample (paid) parking.

We booked a superior room for two nights as we wanted comfort with small child. We arrived around 10 pm after a long ride and had to wait for 10-15 min to do the check in. I was already confused as the room didn't look big enough for a superior room, lacked towels or any amenities which usually provided for small children. I asked for towels which I got immediately. We were tired didn't check further. Today we wanted to come in the middle of the day to freshen up and to prepare the child. Our key didn't work, after 5-7 min of discussion and showing our booking details, we were hearing the same thing that we didn't show up! How could we have done no show when we already stayed overnight? we were finally allowed to come inside our room when we clearly pointed out that it was their mistake during our checking in the night before! Who has the energy to check these details at a standard hotel after 7/8 hours long ride! Guess what, when we entered the room,it wasn't prepared. This is not what I expected from this hotel.

The rooms could do with a renovation and some service policies may need to be reconsidered. Despite the cleanliness and friendly staff, the hotel unfortunately doesn't live up to its name.

We stayed one night at the Radisson Blu in Ettlingen. The rooms are contemporary and modern and there is a large parking lot so far so good. Unfortunately, we found that the staff seemed rather listless and unmotivated. It should be a matter of course, especially in a hotel chain like this, to greet guests and say goodbye accordingly, unfortunately that was not the case. When it comes to friendliness, staff training might also make sense. Breakfast was okay, it would have been nice if there had been fresh bread too. Since you can't give half stars, there are only 3 stars

One star 🌟 deducted - the room was too cold. The small radiator doesn't manage to warm the room! The room is a good size, the bed is very comfortable and the bathroom has a walk-in shower! Hotel is right on the highway. Sleeping at night with the window open is not possible. The location is of course very good for a transit, but very noisy! The smell in the hotel was so pungent that it gave me a headache. The reception apparently didn't know anything and didn't smell anything. Some fragrance is released into the air conditioning or ventilation, which was probably not dosed correctly. I've never experienced anything like this. Beds were extremely comfortable.

Perfect stay during the fair! We were in the hotel on business and didn't miss anything. The staff at check-in was very accommodating and the room was large and quiet. Breakfast was excellent and dinner in the restaurant was good. The service at both breakfast and dinner was without exception friendly and attentive - thank you very much!

Great hotel and even better breakfast!

Conveniently located with unfortunately only poor public transport connections to the city center of Ettlingen. Too remote for train travelers. Parking fees are probably €10/night, which I find expensive for the location. Room spacious and clean, sound insulation sufficient for me, but vehicle noises are clearly noticeable when the room is quiet. When you shower, you almost inevitably flood the bathroom with water and the extraction performance in the bathroom is rather poor. Even after an hour you feel like you're in the tropics.
