Punjab Grill & Bar in München

The Punjab Grill has closed. What an immense shame and what a great loss for the neighborhood. Where will the friendly staff go, and where will the talented chef cook?

What can I say? The Punjab is unfortunately closed. What a shame. But there's a real alternative not far away, just a few minutes' walk away on Ganghoferstrasse at the corner of Ganghofer Brücke. Luckily, they serve Ayurveda – it's now one of my absolute favorite restaurants. Delicious dishes... Malai Kofta, Nilgiri Paneer, eggplant, and various lentil dishes... Vegetarians are also very well catered for here, and I could really tuck into the sauces.

The restaurant has been permanently closed since the beginning of July 2025.

Beautifully decorated restaurant with high ceilings and plenty of outdoor seating! The food is delicious, including vegetarian options (one page on the menu). Service is okay (it used to be better with a different staff). The chef now conjures up dishes just the way I like them 😊 The price/performance ratio is really good for Munich standards. It's very commendable that the chef drives to Erding once a week to a local farmer and buys around 150 liters of fresh cow's milk, which he then processes in the restaurant!! Yesterday I had another delicious meal. "My" chef now modifies my orders the way I like them best 😊 Very good as always! The chef worked his magic again and created a special menu for me, very, very tasty 😋 As always, good service and a special menu received from the chef, thank you 😊 It's unbelievable what our chef conjures up 😊 Another great meal! We'll be back! In my opinion, it's unbeatable in Munich with just one chef! Always happy to come back! Ate pasta with shrimp and chicken in a special sauce again today 😊 Didn't feel like leaving the house today! So, I ordered delivery! Everything was great, my chef even made me the special noodles with beef and chicken, really 😋 Ate at the restaurant today and was spoiled by the chef 😊 With delicious pasta with shrimp and chicken special! You are the best chef!!!!!! I told the chef to make something delicious like you make at home. It was simply delicious, thank you so much 😊 Our chef is driving me crazy! Punjabi duck, Jheenga Biryani, and special noodles with spicy chicken 😇 Taking advantage of the last few days and eating delicious food 😀🙃 He's really closing the shop 😢 but we had another delicious meal today 😊 I'm opening an Indian restaurant in Almaty (Kazakhstan) and taking our head chef with me 😀 Celebrated my birthday here today, and our chef cooked us some delicious dishes again 😊 Unfortunately, today is our head chef's last day! On Wednesday evening, May 21, 2025, the Panjab was sparsely attended. The ambiance was pleasant. The service was rather bored. The masala chai was not seasoned and only worked on the second attempt. The lamb thali consisted of vindaloo (good) and paneer (boring), yogurt, and salad (drenched in dressing). The total was €19. Price/performance was just about OK.

Anyone who's ever been to a decent Indian restaurant can tell you that this place isn't good. The dishes are sometimes extremely watery and sometimes much spicier than usual, and the naan isn't fresh either. I can't understand where all the good reviews are coming from.

Waiter was super rude - looked like he was forced to work there - you need to up your game!

Our favorite Indian restaurant in Munich. It tastes a little different every time, but always excellent. The Kulcha Naan and the Dal Makhni are especially great!

Food ordered from punjab grill has absolutely poor quality. The curry sause for chilli paneer was nothing but just water added on top. I would not recommend the restaurant.

The food was very tasty, lunch prices are very moderate. Service was also very nice and responded to requests.🙃

Liked the vibes, however, the Indian Pop music was neither my favorite nor makes me feel comfy. It suits couples and friends. Tackled with a spicy appetizer: special naan accompanied with three different sauces. Then, they brought us a warmer and put two spicy stews on it. Lamb Vindaloo and Dahl Goshi were so delicious, like a rainbow of flavors, highly recommended. But there is a huge Negative side: two forks were dirty! it is not acceptable.

My favorite Indian. The location is simple, spacious and doesn't smell like spices when you come in from outside. The food is a 10/10.

The food is good , but on Lieferando there is a bug which doesnt let me order from the Mittagsmenu. (It keeps saying "nicht verfügbar for every dish on the mittagsmenu)

We spontaneously had dinner here. Wasn't busy as it was only 5pm. The waiter was nice and it was somehow funny - with Indian roots and Bavarian dialect. Had a mixed starter for two which was fine. For the main course we ordered a chicken masala and shared it - it was more than enough for us. All in all we were very satisfied.

The food is excellent. Great flavors, good prices, very easy-going. Maybe not the fastest service but waiters are nice. Food was so good we came back twice. Great location close to Harras UBahn station We were not sure at first because the restaurant is very large and it was almost empty. It is the best kept secret or we were there too early for dinner.

Unfortunately the waiters weren't attentive at all, you felt completely ignored. The food wasn't particularly tasty either.

Nice atmosphere in the restaurant and very good service. The staff was always helpful and always friendly. The food was excellent and the portions were just right so that you fill up well and yet there were hardly any leftovers.

I ate here several times and everything went fantastically. Special requests were fulfilled without any ifs and buts. The store is very nice and clean, the service is friendly and attentive. For me one of the best Indians in Munich

Not recommended!!!!!!! Really now? I've been ordering there quite often for half a year now. Once I want to give food back because it was old and I don't get any money back or new food, he didn't even want to talk to me and he tells me that I've never ordered anything before and that's why I'm unlucky? It's outrageous to no end. Is delivery still possible in Munich? Sorry, I've had enough, never again. I have all the screenshots if anyone wants to see how many times I ordered. It was late in the night, still the food was very delicious. Ordered Punjabi thal and was so good. Highly recommended if you want to have a dessi food. The people are also very friendly and nice.

The food is really good. Fresh herbs and numerous spices ensure the typical Indian taste. The portions are plenty enough even on the cheaper lunch menu. Rice can be refilled upon request. So very good price/performance ratio. The generally friendly waiters often seem a bit unmotivated or absent-minded. They are usually deep in conversation while standing at the bar. This means that you have great difficulty getting a second drink or the bill, even when there is little occupancy. Nevertheless, I have enjoyed going to Punjab several times a month for many years.

Very bad experience. Food doesn't taste good, especially palak paneer tastes very watery, butter naan is not made from fresh dough. It's overpriced and the staff won't leave you alone as a girl. You're stared at and can't eat in peace. If you wanted to take food with you, the half plate of rice was not packed and kept secret. It is probably served to other guests in order to save money. But never let me pay the full price for it again ;)

Unfortunately I'm very disappointed today. I have eaten there regularly for three years and know the dishes. Apparently the chef has changed because, on the one hand, it tastes completely different than usual and not at all tasty!!! Unfortunately really inedible. When I called them they just said everything was as usual...that was definitely a lie. There were four of us and we all had the same opinion. That's really a pity!!!

I ordered butter chicken and vegetable pakoras, samosa. The quality of chicken used was not good. it was too solid , kids were not able to eat or chew. Feels like chicken was not fully cooked. And vegitable pakora and samosa. I think we can make better samosa at home. The outer layer of samosa was very thin and chew instead of being crispy. simply boiled potato filled and fried with flour. The lunch menu looks very reasonable. Most dishes with soup or salad for <10€. My menu was really tasty and the portion size was good too. The staff was friendly and the location is also very nice and well maintained.

Bester Inder in München! Immer top, wir gehen hier seit Jahren gerne essen.

No recommendation. We ordered there today and got both dishes without sauce. It doesn't help much when, after a complaint, the sauces are delivered about an hour later without an apology... I can expect better for 40 euros

Can't fault the food here, both dishes were superb, Chicken Tikka and Lamb with Spinach, and the garlic naan was lovely. One of the nicest curries I have had, would recommend

Wolt delivered the food very fast, so that's good. But the food was absolutely lousy. A bland and uniform sauce with no flavor.

Opened our takeway order at home and saw completely other dishes. They were so spicy we couldn't eat them. 35 Euro wasted and Friday dinner ruined.

Ordered there on Sunday evening. Unfortunately it just tasted really bad. Butter chicken was way too sweet. Palak Paneer just without any spices or anything. A bit like frozen spinach with cheese, the other dish is way too spicy. I like food spicy but it can also taste like something else. What a shame about the money.

Der Punjab Grill ist ein recht großes und gemütliches indisches Restaurant in Sendling. Es gibt Mittagsgerichte und einige vegane Optionen. 🌱 Allerdings muss man hier etwas aufpassen und am besten nochmal sagen, dass man eine vegane Variante möchte, da der Koch/die Köchin am Ende gerne noch Butter dazu gibt. Auch die Allergene auf der Speisekarte stimmen nicht immer mit den veganen Kennzeichnungen überein. Ich hatte das Dal Makhni (ohne Butter), welches wirklich super lecker war! Die Bedienung war auch sehr nett und das Essen war schnell am Tisch. Service 4/5 Ambiente 4/5 vegane Auswahl 3.5/5 Geschmack 4.5/5 Preis 4.5/5

The food here has been consistently bad! I've tried different dishes 4-5 times and that are unbearable. My friends and I never waste food but we wasted 2 orders because it was so sweet even though it was a savoury dish. The roti was too hard to tear into smaller pieces. Overall expensive too. I really do not recommend this place.

Wir gehen zum Punjab Grill, seit das Restaurant eröffnet hat, bestellen dort auch. Mit der Zeit wurde die einst hohe Qualität der Speisen immer durchschnittlicher, die Portionen kleiner. Wir waren letzten Freitag mal wieder dort, was dieses Urteil bestätigte. Hinzu kam, dass der Service sehr langsam gelangweilt und unaufmerksam war.

We are Not happy about this. Munich tap water is the best water and no customers have to pay so much for it. A reasonable charge for 2 glasses would make sense but Eur 7 for 2 glasses? Sorry, not accepted

Nicht mehr das was er einst war. Wir waren über eine sehr lange Zeit treue Stammgäste. Bedauerlicherweise hat sich die Qualität der Speisen zunehmend verschlechtert. Zusätzlich werden Sonderwünsche, wie beispielsweise die Bitte um weniger Schärfe, überhaupt nicht mehr berücksichtigt. Obwohl ich als Gast das Essen aufgrund dessen nicht verzehren konnte und dies auch kommuniziert habe, wurde dennoch die volle Rechnung ausgestellt.

The food was ok. Tandoori was not spicy even though requested. A small portion of Butter Chicken was served with a platter of rice. Do not see the logic there as the curry will not be enough for the rice. Staff were friendly.

Sehr leckeres Essen, Mittags auch günstig. Es sind viele Inder aus aus der Umgebung am Wochenende dort, was ja ein gutes Zeichen ist. Schneller und freundlicher Service.

Ambience was great. But service was average. Food was just OK. For the size of the restaurant and the ambience, the expectations were high but was disappointing. Paneer chilli was quite not good. Roti and breads were very good.

Das Ambiente ist sehr angenehm. Die Inhaber sind auch Inder. Das macht das Ganze noch mal mehr authentisch. Das Essen dort ist sehr lecker. Die Mango Ente ist für mich der Knaller und mein Favorit!

Wir essen sehr oft indisch. Hier hat das Essen leider überhaupt nicht geschmeckt! Alles schmeckte tomatig und fad.

Dass Restaurant ist groß, der Service schnell und freundlich. Ich habe in München noch kein besseres Butter Chicken gegessen, wirklich sehr sehr lecker. Die Speisekarte ist sehr reichhaltig, ich kann auch noch das Roti empfehlen. Eine klare Empfehlung für alle Fans des indischen Essens. Ich komme gerne wieder.

Authentische indische Küche. Hier wird auch zwischen Pefferschärfe und Chilischärfe unterschieden, da pfefferscharfe Gerichte scheinbar keine Kennzeichnung als scharfes Gericht mittels roter Chili haben, obwohl im Text auf die sehr scharfe Sauce hingewiesen wird.

大きな窓の明るい素敵なAltbauの店内で、美味しく、コスパの良いランチが食べられる。カルダモンの効いたチャイがおいしい。 In schönem Altebau mit grossen Fenstern kann man gut und günstig zu Mittag essen. Chai mit Kardamom schmeckt gut !

das essen war ok aber irgendwas fehlte im geschmack. authentisch würde ich es nicht nennen. die kellner waren freundlich aber schauten sich nie um, um zu sehen ob wir noch was wollten und ich musste aufstehen um nach etwas zu fragen oder für die rechnung.

Wir waren zum ersten Mal im "Punjab Grill", aber ganz sicher nicht zum letzten Mal (Samstag, 14 h). Das Ambiente ist hell, sauber und etwas indisch angehaucht, aber nicht kitschig. Freundlicher Empfang und Bedienung. Sehr frisches Essen (dauert ca. 25 Min. - gutes Zeichen) wir hatten Lammlende in Minz-Beize sowie Hähnchenbrustfilets und Lammhackröllchen, beides mit Pfannengemüse und Reis. Die Portionen waren sehr groß und kaum zu schaffen. Super Preis-/Leistungs-Verhältnis und eines der besten Restaurants. Steht ab sofort auf unserer Liste der besten Münchner Lokale!

Sehr gutes solides Essen, schnell und freundlich geliefert. Ich würde wieder dort bestellen. Ich habe palak paneer und gebackene Bananen, die Bananen frisch und kross, hab mich richtig gefreut.

Netter Mitarbeiter des Restaurants, der uns das Essen brachte und mit einem freundlichen Lächeln übergab.
