I recently had the opportunity to visit Pulpa Restaurant in Essen and overall it was a pleasant experience. The food was delicious and the wine selection was outstanding. However, the waitress who served us seemed a bit unsure and needed time to get her bearings. It seemed like it was her first day. Luckily the restaurant wasn't very busy, which meant she was able to focus on us. Despite this small challenge, we enjoyed our visit

The ambience was great. The service was also OK. But I wouldn't come back because the food was unfortunately not convincing. We felt it lacked flavors, was kind of overcooked, and we suspect it was more like convenience food.

Ambiance was nice, but that was it. We sat at the table for about 30 minutes before our order was taken after asking three times. After another 30 minutes the food was there, but part of the order was missing. Chicken skewers and albondingas were ok to tasty, but the latter was not enough for the price. Patatas bravas were just halved potatoes instead of the usual cubes and I didn't like them at all. As a drink I had a glass of sangria and of course my second glass was forgotten. However, after I saw the overpriced price of €9 for a glass on the bill, I was actually happy about it. Of course, the bill only came after repeated inquiries. Won't be coming back, my usual local has better prices, better service and most importantly, better food.

As soon as we entered the restaurant we noticed the cozy and chic atmosphere. The lighting, interior design and background music create a unique atmosphere. The selection and quality of the Spanish specialties was very good. We particularly recommend ordering lots of small tapas and trying them all together to experience a taste explosion. The wine selection is also excellent. We had a Spanish white wine (Marques De Riscal, “Pulpo’s Tipp”) with our dishes, which accompanied the food perfectly in terms of taste. The service was also very friendly, knowledgeable and quickly fulfilled our every culinary wish. We will definitely come back and can warmly recommend a visit to “Pulpo Tapas” to everyone.

Nice location but price performance just doesn't fit. The food was good, but prices like in star restaurants and service/ambience like McDonald's just don't fit. If I go out to eat with my wife for 150 euros, it just has to feel different 🙄

Yep, that was somehow very mixed. First the service, super nice and very accommodating... The highlight of the evening. There were two of us there (Monday, 6 p.m.), and there was another couple there besides us... But that was it. My wife ordered a Wildberry Lillet, which in terms of taste and color was made more with tonic water than with Schweppes Wildberry. We ordered various types of tapas and I had a main course. The tapas were okay, but there are better tapas in Rüttenscheid. We also had a salad, the dressing was delicious, but the salad had been in the saladette for a while because it was wilted, even the Frisian gave way on the fork of the soil. For the main course I had the Iberico cutlet. In terms of quantity, it was more like another tapa plate, the chop was extremely thin (5 mm), boneless and looked like the sole of a shoe, the mojo rojo indicated on the menu was completely missing. I didn't complain about that because there were still enough sauces from the tapas that could give the "chop" flavor. Repetition factor 50 percent.

Always worth a visit. We ate a paella that was from another planet. 😍 I have rarely seen staff in such a good mood. The wine recommendations are simply great!

Went there for dinner with five women. You will receive a very friendly welcome there and the service is always approachable and at the table often enough. Very attentive. The food was really tasty. We had different tapas and everything tasted great. The sangria and the freshly tapped San Miguel were also great! 👍 We will be back! 😋

Service was great and the employees were very friendly. The food tasted very good and the atmosphere was perfect. The only problem that can't really be criticized is the paper map, which seems a bit unstructured. The open kitchen impresses with the quality of the food prepared, the cleanliness of the shop and the freshness of the goods. I can recommend this restaurant to everyone with a clear conscience and hope you enjoy your meal.

We had a great team evening at Pulpos today. We ate our way through the tapas once. Everything was delicious, came quickly and was presented attractively. Unfortunately I only managed to photograph the dessert, which speaks for itself, I would say 😉 My highlight were the Albondigas. We will definitely come back again.

Good evening, We were really looking forward to visiting this restaurant. The ambience is beautiful. There were problems when placing the order because the waitress had problems communicating in both German and Spanish. We'll try Italian soon, ciao Bella :D The starter came with a main course. The second main course came after I had finished everything. Normally the main course is served to both people at the same time. Jamón de Cebo Ibérico was served to us as any jamón from the package. The real Jamón de Cebo is worlds apart here. To make matters worse, we were told that they probably wouldn't be able to meet our demands. How do you arrive at such an assessment of the claims? Que Pena! Oh and we also completely forgot that the wrong wine was brought. La vida is a world! It's a shame and very bad the owner's reaction to previous reviews. Zero criticism. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. I wanted to treat my wife to dinner on our wedding anniversary. We ordered aioli with bread and Jamon Iberico as a starter. The main course was the Parrillada de pescados y marisco with the patatas bravas and an ensalada variada pequena. Everything was brought together, even though we were told there would be a 30 minute wait for the fish platter, which we actually thought was good. So the entire order was on the table within a maximum of 5 minutes. The entire stay lasted 40 minutes (including using the toilet and paying). That's fast food level! Now about the quality and taste. Unfortunately the aioli was bought and tasted at a discounter level. Bread (baguette) was not fresh Unfortunately the jamon is not freshly cut from the whole ham, but pre-cut from the big pack. For €15 per portion I would have expected more. In terms of taste, the Iberico was a poor entry. If you've ever eaten jamon in Spain: hotel ham... unfortunately no more! Patatas Bravas were okay, but the sauce wasn't spicy, rather very bland! the salad was ice cold, the mustard-dill sauce has, in my opinion, absolutely nothing to do with Spain. The fish platter was the crowning glory. Not only was it not freshly prepared (the plate was probably left over from another table, otherwise why could it be brought about 3 minutes after we ordered?), the fish was lukewarm. The prawns were tough, the mini octopus were rubbery, and the octopus arm wasn't very tender either. My Greek makes it better! 1 octopus arm, 11 mini calamari, half sea bream fillet, half prawns for €29.90 (see photos) I think that everything was delivered at once due to the waitress's poor knowledge of German. We had said that we would like to have the starter and main course one after the other. Furthermore, our criticism was only dismissed with a tired smile. She probably didn't understand us properly. The food is real Spanish, expensive, yes, but delicious! We went for dinner and were very well served by a Honduran girl. What we didn't like was the pressure to order quickly and almost eat since they were closing. It didn't make us feel comfortable at all.

I'm a real fan of Pulpo! Since our visit yesterday I unfortunately have to limit my opinion because the service was really tiring and even disappointing. It started with the fact that the order for the individual tapas was not understood and that she said that she didn't speak Spanish. She had every dish on the menu shown to her. Then we got the wrong tapas three times, the kitchen would have made this mistake. No tapas came at all. In the end the calculation was also wrong. The service from the two girls simply doesn't do justice to this really beautiful and delicious restaurant. There is a lack of charm, empathy and linguistic expression. Unfortunately, you have lost me as a customer!

Overall, the food was very tasty, but the chrorizo ​​alone was a failure. Otherwise really tasty. The fish platter was great but overall a fairly manageable portion.

The PULPO Tapas Restaurant in Essen is an absolute must for all lovers of tapas and a first-class ambience! Or the aioli or the dates or… or, or, just everything! The ambience is as impressive as it is inviting. Service was very nice, but not optimally organized. Always had to remind people to order drinks. Then it came immediately. In terms of quality, the food is really nothing special. That's not right for the price/performance ratio.

Yesterday we were in a larger group on site. You find a very nice atmosphere and immediately feel very comfortable. The tapas selection is very large and very tasty. Warm baguette and delicious aioli underline the taste. The employees are highly motivated and you didn't have to wait too long for food and drinks, even though the restaurant was busy. When I'm in Essen again, I'll definitely stop by. A TOP address in Essen if you want to eat delicious food :-)

Food was okay but I didn't think the price-performance ratio was quite right. The portions could be a little larger for the prices and you can imagine something different in terms of taste for the price. The service was nice and dogs are also welcome here. I can't really recommend the shop for tapas - I didn't try a main course. Parking spaces are not so easy to find there.

Actually there is nothing wrong with it. Super fast, attentive service, delicious food and a nice, cozy atmosphere. There were two of us there. Reservation is absolutely necessary. It's such a thing with tables for a couple or a reservation for two. The tables are so close together in rows of two that you inevitably have to listen to the conversation of those sitting next to you, because you have no other choice. It feels like there are four of us there, because there is only about 20 cm between our two-seater table and the neighboring two-seater table. There is room for improvement! The food was delicious. The two of us ordered 6 tapas. What we didn't realize was that they were all "delivered" at once. So of course everything got cold pretty quickly. Hence the tip: Don't order the tapas all at once, but one after the other.

First of all, a very nice shop with good service but with wheat in children's size 0.3 My food itself was very tasty except for the beef from South America, which was very strict so I didn't eat it or only half of it but the shop can't do anything about it - that happens to the best people. Another minus point when it comes to eating goes to the steak knife, the recommendation: have the knives sharpened or buy damask knife sets. Still 5 stars and I would definitely come back when I'm in Essen

We went to Pulpo Tapas for the first time on Sunday. The atmosphere is really great and we felt very comfortable. Food was great and server was very accommodating. We would like to come again.

This was our second time at Pulpo Tapas. The food was again super tasty and the selection is very large!!! Unfortunately, the service is subpar...it's constantly cleared away, even half-full glasses are taken away, simple drinks are asked for several times, but then the wrong thing still comes. If you have a gin and tonic, you forget the tonic and when you ask, you get a "being made at the moment." Sorry, if you have high prices on the menu, you should also have the service available in this category.

The "Pulpo" restaurant offers an outstanding combination of exquisite pulpo dishes and delicious tapas. I was thrilled by the variety of tapas variations, from traditional classics to creative new creations. The delicately prepared pulpo was a highlight and reflected the excellent quality of the seafood. The relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff contributed to an all-round successful dining experience. An absolute must for pulp and tapas lovers!

Everything was great until we discovered the next day that the bill included a 5.50 euro tip without asking beforehand, even though we paid by card and gave the tip in cash. A pity.

Leider kann ich weder Essen noch Ambiente oder Service bewerten da nichts stattfand. Wir hatten eine bestätigte Reservierung direkt von Ihnen( Teburio)für den 31.12.2023,19:00. Als wir dort ankamen war das Restaurant geschlossen!! Super!! So sollte man nicht mit seinen Gästen umgehen. Eine Mitteilung das das Restaurant geschlossen ist wäre nett gewesen. Wir wünschen ein gutes, neues Jahr . Ich habe alle Mails gecheckt, leider keine Stornierung gefunden.

Wir waren zum Abendessen hier, es liegt etwas außerhalb des Zentrums, aber es ist machbar. Das Essen war gut. Sie erhalten lediglich einen QR-Code zur Ansicht Ihrer Rechnung. Dies war vor Ort nicht möglich, da der PIN-Code schwer zu erkennen war. Als wir uns später die Rechnung ansahen, stellte sich heraus, dass für das Geschirr 18 Euro zu viel berechnet worden waren. Vor drei Jahren war hier ein gutes vietnamesisches Restaurant im Flowers Hotel. Jetzt finden wir hier ein tolles spanisches Restaurant mit schönen Ambiente, leckerem Essen und guten Service. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Ein toller Abend mit leckerem Essen und ausgezeichnetem Service! Wir haben uns ab der ersten Minute wohl gefühlt und direkt das Gefühl gehabt willkommen zu sein! Es hat alles super geschmeckt, mein absoluter Favorit, karamellisierter Ziegenkäse mit Trüffel Honig.

Leckerste spanische Küche die ich ausserhalb Spaniens je gegessen habe. Besonders der karamelisierte Ziegenkäse mit Trüffelhonig ist unfassbar und lohnt schon die Anreise. Ambiente ist stylisch und gemütlich, das Personal ist aufmerksam, zuvorkommend und auf zack. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall so schnell wie möglich wieder und nehmen noch einen Ziegenkäse für später mit 😍

Sehr gemütliches mediterranes Ambiente mit leckerem Essen. Und nicht n u r lecker, sondern auch besonders. Der Service ist sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich, Wir kommen immer wieder gerne.

Das Angebot an spanischen Tapas war abwechslungsreich, hübsch angerichtet und sehr schmackhaft. Wir wurden schnell und freundlich bedient. Alle Tische waren besetzt, aber es war ausreichend Personal da, so dass wir weder auf die Getränke, noch auf das Essen lange warten mussten. Der Chef war präsent und charmant. Wir hatten einen sehr angenehmen Abend in einem außergewöhnlichen Ambiente.

Ladenlokal hat ein WOW Effekt sobald man reinkommt! Super Ambiente ultra nette Bedienung und ein sehr geselliger gut gelaunter Geschäftsführer, der sich bei allen Gästen einzeln bedankt und mit den Gästen den Kontakt pflegt... Wer auf Fisch und Fingerfoods steht ist absolut richtig, super lecker das Essen... Es lohnt sich definitiv

Sehr gute Tapas, wirklich tolle freundliche Bedienung seit langem nicht mehr gehabt, die Preise für Spirituosen im gehobenen Segment, was fehlt für eine Tapas Bar wären zwei oder drei Sherry. Noch einmal ein dickes Lob für die Mädels die die Gäste bedienen ihr hättet eigentlich ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ verdient.

Essen war gut aber nicht besonders. Auf dem Fischteller lag unangekündigt Thunfisch anstatt Oktopus und ein zwei mal geäußerter Extrawunsch wurde auch nicht berücksichtigt. Der Laden selbst ist schön eingerichtet.

Tolles Essen in einer super Atmosphäre. Die Bedienung war hervorragend und echt freundlich!! ….ist man ja fast gar nicht mehr gewohnt 😅 Eine echte Empfehlung 😁

Das Essen ist fantastisch und in hervorragender Qualität.

Das Restaurant bietet eine tolle spanische Küche an. Wir hatten verschiedene Tapas, die uns alle sehr gut geschmeckt haben. Die Küche ist offen, so dass man bei der Zubereitung zuschauen kann. Der Service ist sehr nett und aufmerksam. Das Ambiente ist ebenfalls gelungen. Auf jeden Fall weiterzuempfehlen!
