Prager Hof in Hannover

We have been coming to the Prager Hof regularly for 10 years and have always been thrilled, never had any problems, but rather high-quality food and the best service. Unfortunately, it wasn't quite as nice on Good Friday 2025, but that wasn't the fault of the Prague Court: two gentlemen apparently wanted to show off in front of their girls and started insulting and threatening the operators of the Prague Court shortly before closing time. The subject of the dispute was a dish over the price of €16, which was graciously waived for the two figures after a short discussion. Nevertheless, the simultaneous request to go to another restaurant in the future felt such a violation of their honor that the gentlemen immediately promised to “flood Google with bad reviews in the next few weeks”. Before my companion and I could call the police after we ourselves were threatened by the guys, they left the restaurant very quickly. And lo and behold: as announced, negative reviews have been piling up here for the last three weeks. I am therefore happy to give my honest opinion about this restaurant, which has remained at 5 stars for decades, and I strongly urge you to critically question any negative criticism that was made here immediately after April 18, 2025. Based on what we were able to experience (for which there are various witnesses that I know personally), these are nothing more than malicious fake reviews.

We reserved a table for 4 and after 15 mins sitting down we were asked to move because a bigger party (which folks knows to the restaurant) had arrived and they needed our table to make a bigger one. When we ordered starters to share we were greeted with a condescending sneer and a “there won’t be much for you to share” comment, instead of an explanation of what the starters looked like. The food itself wasn’t bad but also not great. We took their signature dish but the sauce was way too sweet and overpowering. One of us had a spätzle dish and I would definitely take that over the dish I had. That being said I don’t think I would return. The vibe of the place screams “traditional” and guests and staff seemed to be side-eyeing us for not being locals and speaking English.

The food arrived lukewarm and seemed as if it had not been freshly prepared. Unfortunately the taste is also disappointing. Overall not a pleasant experience - we won't be back.

I only give the stars because it doesn't work without it. With the best will in the world, this restaurant can no longer be recommended. If the restaurant has a few more visitors, the service can no longer keep up. And all of the food is no longer edible. I know it very well and am just saying rubbish. I'm sorry for you, but take care of the freshness of the food - everything tastes good warmed up. I've known this place for 40 years. It's a shame.

We stopped there spontaneously after a long walk through the Herrenhausen Gardens. Without a reservation - but with a thirst for good things 🍺 we still got a place. The thirst was well quenched - even Becherovka on the house! Very nice staff - we felt welcome. Food met our expectations. Daily dish Lišková was really good and very tasty! (the sauce with chanterelles is finger-licking) 😋 and actually way too cheap.... Rostenka Budvar - rump steak was fried to a perfect medium 😋, the sauce was also very tasty, fried potatoes were good but the frozen vegetables would have been better fresh. If we're close again...risk of repeat! 😉

For Valentine's Day we had a small, cozy seating area in the Prager Hof where we could enjoy ourselves undisturbed. The ambience impresses with its old charm and the stylish interior, which creates a nostalgic atmosphere. We were particularly pleased with the old-school service - professional, unobtrusive and very accommodating. As starters we chose sausage salad and topinky. Both dishes were excellently prepared and tasted excellent. For the main course I chose the Pilsner goulash. The taste was very good and the portion was more than adequate for the price. The only thing I personally could have done without was the raw vegetable decoration - but that's purely a matter of taste. At the end we treated ourselves to Marlenka as dessert, which rounded off the evening perfectly. A successful conclusion to an all-round successful dinner. See you in the morning!

The food is really recommended. It tastes like it did when I was a child with Grandma and Grandpa. You can really taste the love in the food. I had potato soup with porcini mushrooms. Then I tried "Sviskova" as a main course. The soup was probably the best I've ever had, and the main course was just as delicious. The meat is perfect, the sauce is a taste experience and the Bohemian dumplings would be a treat in themselves. Anyone who likes Bohemian cuisine should definitely go there, and anyone who just likes delicious food will also be thrilled. I will definitely go again.

Absolute recommendation. Authentic Bohemian cuisine to feast on. It was so incredibly delicious. We ordered goulash (refined with beer) and bread dumplings, pork medallions with chanterelle sauce and bread dumplings as well as four types of meat with sauerkraut and fried potatoes. With drinks we paid €68. I think that's absolutely fair for the high quality of the ingredients. The service was also very friendly and gave us our table 30 minutes before our reservation. Another highlight was the homemade lemonade. I tried the elderberry variety, there were also raspberries and currants. Unfortunately we were already so full that we couldn't fit any more dessert - definitely next time. We'll definitely be back👍👍👍

We had a wonderful evening with good food and very courteous service. Both the soup as the main course, as well as the cheese spaetzle and the sliced ​​meat, came very quickly and tasted very tasty. The restaurant has a very cozy and rustic charm and the large mirror creates a successful spatial effect.

My husband and I spontaneously decided to eat there as we had to go to an event at a later date. Warm welcome and we actually spontaneously had a spot available, which we thought was really nice. The atmosphere itself is very cozy and clean. Regarding the service, courteous, friendly and attentive. Drinks came quickly. Employees always had a smile on their faces and you felt comfortable. After ordering the food, this dish also left the stage quickly, warm dishes, deliciously prepared and tasted really delicious 🤤. My husband was very enthusiastic about the food and I also found it very, very tasty. In terms of price, everything is also within reasonable limits and totally great. We felt comfortable and were really full. Recommendation guaranteed! !!! Big praise to the staff and the kitchen!!!

Great! I'm actually not a pork fan, but after the obviously very popular beer goulash was gone, I took the forester's plate, especially because of the pear with cranberries, and I didn't regret it. Everything here really came together in terms of taste. The grilled flavor from the pork steaks was great. Dumplings perfect. The Budweiser on tap was also very good. The service was very professional and warm.

It was a superlative dinner. The food is simply top class and the service leaves nothing to be desired. This restaurant is a real asset in Hanover's gastronomy. We will definitely come here again to experience pure enjoyment.

The Prager Hof impresses with its beautiful ambience. The staff was very friendly. But the service could have been a little better, perhaps a worker was missing. The two of them could hardly keep up and we had to wait quite a long time to take the orders. As for the food, you can say that the portions are more than adequate for the price. Taste is just a matter of taste.

It is one of the best restaurants serving Bohemian cuisine. The restaurant's interior is from the 70s (just as you would imagine). The food is above average and the draft beer is always perfect. The staff has been there for decades. Such a standard can hardly be achieved for decades. This is also noticeable with short-term table reservations. I was here for the first time in my mid-20s and I felt like I did 40 years ago.

Delicious food and very friendly service. You must bring cash, because Dutch bank cards are not accepted. Around the corner is a "shipping bank" where you can pay by card.

Prague pot and the starter soup were delicious. The seating is very comfortable and the service still had room for improvement in terms of friendliness and commitment. I'm going there again.

I've eaten at Prager Hof three times so far this year and it's always been delicious and the service has been friendly and attentive. All of this at moderate prices.

Positive: - easy reservation - friendly and fast service Negative: - Ordered apple juice according to the menu, got apple spritzer (without sparkling water) (price = apple juice) - Ordered espresso, received thin coffee in small cups - Pork fillet medallions are battered, cooked too long, hard - Sauces too floury - Waitress lets the sauce run off the plate when serving! - The toilet is an imposition! Conclusion: The first visit was the last.

We came across this restaurant by chance and were impressed on our first visit. Finding a restaurant open at lunchtime on a Sunday, and one near the zoo, is almost impossible. Despite calling at short notice to reserve a table, they made it possible for us (5 people). That was already great. In the middle of the residential area with a charming outdoor area, very appealing ambience, as well as indoors. The service was extremely attentive, attentive and friendly. The food was excellent (Bohemian cuisine), good selection of lunch dishes, the beef goulash was a dream. The portions are more than sufficient, great value for money. Since many larger groups had to be served at the same time that day, the food took a little longer, but the wait was worth it. And then finally a gift from the house because we had to be patient longer than usual. Simply great, it's fun to come back, we're already looking forward to the next time. In summer you can sit comfortably on the cozy terrace on a quiet street. The kitchen offers delicious Bohemian dumplings, spaetzle and boiled beef in generous portions. The service is friendly, small children are welcome.

Been going here for 40 years... menu almost unchanged... even the prices haven't changed with the times, just like the ambience, which hasn't changed over the years. But it tastes good! Twice a year is a MUST! And the Pilsener Urquell on tap is something...and the best thing of all is the garlic soup...

We were with friends at the Prager Hof. The food was once again very good, even if the Czech Bohemian cuisine is very hearty, but we enjoyed it. We can actually recommend everything but definitely the garlic bread as a starter. In the end, around 8 p.m., we were the only guests in the restaurant. Germany played in the European Championship and yet we still felt welcome. From our point of view, another big plus here is the owners/employees. Simply perfect service.

Good restaurant with attentive service and good Bohemian food. The bread dumplings immediately reminded me of my grandma. That's exactly how she made them. And the goulash with it, a poem. There was a small deduction for dessert. The mixed fruits with the pancakes were not fresh. They tasted musty like a refrigerator. But that was the only point of criticism. The Prague Court will certainly see us again.

A nice little restaurant in the List with an appealing, diverse selection of dishes. It's very cozy and quiet to sit in the beer garden between the hedges. Everyone was very happy with the food, the service was extremely friendly and quick.

Our little insider tip in Hanover. The most beautiful thing is the beer garden, small and rustic with lemon trees and small palm trees. The food is traditional, delicious and always fresh and the service is very good and super friendly.

The Prague Court!!! We laughed, enjoyed and felt at home in a way we had long forgotten. For the starter there was a tartare which first had to be brought to the plate in this way! Perfectly seasoned, it was served with bread grated with garlic. I could have cried with joy. Just the subtle and almost erotic smell that spread to our table when the plates arrived will sweeten my memory for a long time. It was delicious. Simple and yet highly complex. Then came the main course... We had schnitzel. Once with mushroom and pepper cream sauce, fried potatoes and a salad, and my wife had a chanterelle and cream schnitzel with Bohemian dumplings... It was just wonderful. It was like traveling back in time to this beautiful part of the world, without which German cuisine would be simply ridiculous. Silesian cuisine at its finest. I read all the reviews beforehand and didn't understand them. They write about Czech inn quality... and I'm seriously wondering? WHAT EXACTLY DO YOU EXPECT WHEN YOU GO TO A RESTAURANT CALLED “PRAGER HOF”??? It was spectacular for us. It was a journey back in time to a time long past when food was celebrated. It felt like they were all sitting at our table... The ancestors from Upper Silesia... My grandmother as a child, my great-grandmother, who never let go of her longing for her homeland... And I could almost hear her laughing with happiness. It was like a home that was hidden from me. It was great craftsmanship without any unnecessary chichi. It was honest, it was delicious, it was unexpected. It was wonderful The chanterelle cream sauce wasn't too heavy, the mushroom cream sauce was almost reserved, the schnitzels were subtly juicy in a crusty breading... Oh dear... I also ordered asparagus with hollandaise sauce AND melted butter. With a lot of bite, a perfect hollandaise... it had something refreshing, down-to-earth... we really enjoyed it. For dessert the lady had 2 scoops of ice cream. For me, a pancake with chocolate... When the food was brought to the table, a cloud of vanilla rose in our noses and we wanted to lick the plates at the end. I would also like to say something about the topic of “rudeness” by the service staff. If you act like an idiot, you shouldn't be surprised if you're treated like one. Here people cook and serve people who are completely behind the house and the food they serve to the guest. Anyone who comes in and waits for a red carpet just because he/she/it intends to buy/order something... Grandma hasn't slapped them often enough. Treat people with respect and you will get it. If I want to eat a vegan bread soup from the high mountains of Peru, then I won't do it in a Czech restaurant that is known for high-quality, down-to-earth cuisine. We experienced it ourselves as guests at the next table had to act out their personality disorder while reading the menu. Ruminating loudly about whether the menu is any good and then snapping at a waiter who proudly works in this establishment and loves his work... Is not only outrageous but presumptuous and not worthy of a guest. Our conclusion? Take your time. Bring your hunger, turn off your cell phones, and let yourself be transported to a time that has long passed. Forget how important you think you are for a moment and enjoy it. And try the tartare first (160 grams). In the end we paid just under 90 euros with drinks and our little feast, but we could have gotten by with half that. I thought it was too cheap, but we will DEFINITELY come back. At this point, thanks again to the kitchen and also to the service. From our point of view? ABSOLUTELY recommended

We were there with 6 people on a Thursday evening. Reservation is recommended. The restaurant was well attended. Of course, with the good food. We were all very excited. The employees are consistently friendly, relaxed and communicative. The atmosphere is, let's say, rustic... But very well maintained. It's just solid. I liked it (immediately felt decades younger😊). Seriously, we were very satisfied. Recommended. Gladly again!

The food was really good and just like I know from simple restaurants in Bohemia. The shop, the hotel is very rustic and the furnishings are a bit old, but very well maintained! The guests are mostly older. That doesn't detract from the charm. The service is friendly and accommodating. I really enjoyed the venison goulash!

Update: Easter 2024 We said yes, we would come back. And as always, it was a very good decision. The personal service is very courteous and you feel at home. There will most likely be a few more visits until next Easter. Thank you. Bohemian cuisine. Easter menu 8 different dishes with three courses and a children's dish. A dish for vegetarians. Very tasty and plentiful. Tastefully decorated. Small different levels within the locality. Unfortunately, the sanitary area is not barrier-free. But then the staff toilet was offered on the ground floor. Only recommended. We will be back.

We were here on Saturday around 5:30 p.m. with 5 people and had made a reservation. The restaurant had only recently opened and there was still little going on. We were assigned a quiet seat and after a short time the friendly waiter brought the menus and took our drink requests. I chose "Topinky" (four slices of garlic bread) as a starter and "Karlsbacher Topf with Spätzle" as my main course. For dessert there were pancakes with chocolate. Everything tasted very good and I think the price-performance ratio is reasonable. Everyone also enjoyed the other dishes such as venison gulach, schnitzel and turkey. The place is very cozy, but a bit dark. It's nice to sit outside in the summer... The only negative thing I found was that payment with credit card is not possible, only in cash or by EC card. Payment by credit card should now be standard. Overall, a lovely evening that will definitely be repeated soon.

Es wirkt etwas altbacken und könnte ruhig etwas moderner sein. Das Essen ist für den Preis fast etwas zu teuer. Das Fleisch beim Hauptgang war perfekt gebraten, Englisch so wie ich es mag, aber nur 1 Kartoffelrösti und 4 fast schon verbrannte Kroketten die nach TK Ware aussehen für 32,50€ ist dann doch schon echt happig wenn man in anderen Lokalen schon 3 Gänge für das gleiche Geld bekommen kann. Bei dem Dessert „ Gefüllte Pfannkuchen mit Pflaumenmus und Obst" gab es Sprühsahne aus der Dose anstatt frischer Schlagsahne. Mein Fazit: Im Sommer kann man den Außenbereich bei einem kalten frischen Tschechischen Bier wunderbar genießen aber das Essen hat mich persönlich eher mit einem „ok" als einem „ oh wie lecker hier muss ich öfter herkommen" zurück gelassen. Schade 🤷

Sehr leckeres essen, gute Atmosphäre

Essbar, nichts besonderes, es kommt anders auf den Tisch als in der Speisekarte. Budweiser und Pilsener Urquell bestellt, Alles Budweiser bekommen vom Kellner aber unterschiedlich deklariert. Fazit: einmalig gut, das heißt kein zweites Mal.

Wir sind regelmäßig dort und wurden nie enttäuscht! Sehr zu empfehlen.

Leider war unser Besuch dort sehr enttäuschend. Freundlichkeit ist hier unbekannt.

Ich war zum ersten Mal hier, mit einer Gruppe. Erst war ich skeptisch, weil ich Vegetarier bin und sehr viele Fleischgerichte auf der Karte sind. Aber ich habe leckere selbstgemachte Käsespätzle mit Salat bekommen und war zufrieden. Netter schneller Service, Kann mir gut vorstellen nochmal hinzugehen.

Würde und werde ich weiterempfehlen

Nach etlichen Jahren zufällig die Gelegenheit gehabt mal wieder das Essen genießen zu können. Absolut lecker, mal was anderes, deftig und reichlich! Wir waren sehr zufrieden und kommen gerne wieder.

Das Essen war sehr lecker, es war viel zu warm im Restaurant Die Knoblauchsuppe müsst ihr probieren.

Der Prager Hof ist das für mich das Beste Lokal in Hannover. Ambiente, Essen ist einfach wunderbar. Das Lokal ist nur zu empfehlen.

Sehr gutes Essen und super Service

Service absolut fehlerfrei und erstklassig - so fühlt man sich als Gast willkommen und gut aufgehoben. Speisenauswahl und Qualität... Sagenhaft... Der Tafelspitz war so zart, dass man ihn mit der Gabel zerteilen könnte. Dazu eine hervorragende Meerrettichsauce... Da werden Kindheitserinnerungen wach! Sehr gut besucht aber trotzdem fühlt man sich nicht "bedrängt" das Ambiente könnte ebenfalls perfekt sein... ABER Das Besteck passt sehr gut in eine Werkskantine, hat aber in einem gehobenen Restaurant nichts verloren. Keine zweite Chance für einen ersten Eindruck - die Pavillons vor dem Restaurant sind überfällig für eine Erneuerung. Aber Service und Speisen reißen das alles wieder raus! Ich komme SEHR gerne wieder!
