We ate here a few weeks ago with friends. We were very surprised by the quality and variety of the food. The service was very friendly, and we didn't have to wait too long for our food. Everything seemed freshly prepared. You can eat in peace and quiet at this restaurant. The atmosphere is pleasant.

We have only ever ordered so far, but we are very satisfied every time.

Feeling ripped off: Have eaten in this place before. Last, a couple of years ago. Since I have a doctor around the corner, I rediscovered this place and its terrace, but had only coffee and cake & the occasional beer. Always paid in cash. Since they always have lunch specials, and we were in the area, we decided to stop by. On the board it said Schnitzel (calf) with fried Potatoes and a drink for 7.50 Euro. Assuming a small sized portion and a drink lunch special, I thought what a great deal and ordered it. Well, to my surprise I got a regular sized meal and knew something was not right. "7.50€" referred to the drink only, I was told, the meal was 21 €. The waiter said that I wasn't the first who was "falling" for the sign. (Please look at the board, it doesn't say anywhere 21 € for the meal, only 7.50 € at the bottom.) This is wrong advertisement.But ok, a bit peed off, I accepted the ordered plate and agreed to pay triple the price. When we asked for our check, it came to 48 € for the 2 of us. I elected to pay with CC with and added 4€ Tip. But instead of 52€, he charged me 54.04€, telling me that the 2.04€ are the CC fee. I am so pissed! I just read up on it. Under European law, no merchant/ restaurant is allowed to charge their customers a fee for paying by CC. When I mentioned my disappointment, the waiter just played dumb and didnt even attempt to rectify the situation. The only thing he said, that he could cancel the CC transaction and I could pay cash. UN FREAKING BELIEVAVLE. I dont blame the waiter, but the owner that obviously goes for the gutso. Never ever will I eat there again. At most will I have a cup of coffee and pay in cash. What a shame! Food & location are great. But I feel so taken and ripped off!

The restaurant is located in front of a square with a fountain, which creates a more pleasant and interesting atmosphere. Very pleasant and respectful service. Delicious food and relatively large portions, and of course satisfying. Although it is defined as an Albanian restaurant, everyone will find a dish for themselves.

Revise: I gave it a second chance. They got my order correct this time, and compensated me with a side fries. Original Comment: I recently placed an order through Uber Eats which included two large portions of borscht. However, upon delivery, I received one large and one small portion instead. I reached out to support, but was told a partial refund could not be issued. I find this disappointing, as I paid for two large portions and did not receive what I ordered. I’ll really appreciate it if we can work out a resolution.

July 2025: I've known this restaurant for a while and I think it's deteriorated considerably. My impression: More and more convenience food for a high price (food 1 star), our waiter smelled strongly of sweat (service 0 stars), and the restrooms were dirty and in need of renovation (ambience 1 star). I was very disappointed :-( and won't be coming back anytime soon.

Unfortunately, we were hoping for more Russian cuisine. The name promises more than the place delivers. It's nice to sit on the terrace and drink a beer. But if you're looking for Russian food, you won't get your money's worth.

We've been there several times for breakfast with our two small children and can only say good things about it. The food and drinks were always excellent, the service was exemplary and went far beyond what one would expect. The treatment of the children was particularly accommodating, so we'll definitely be coming back next time we're in Berlin.

Great atmosphere! Alexander recommended a very tasty wine! It was very atmospheric and nice to spend time and it was so unexpected that in Berlin you can get such a pleasant impression of the service and my friend from Barcelona noted that we should definitely come back! ❤️

An evening full of flavor – Russian cuisine with heart What a wonderful experience! At Potemkin, hospitality is still a top priority – the service was warm, attentive, and yet pleasantly unobtrusive. The food was a real highlight. We were particularly impressed by the Beef Stroganoff: tender meat, perfectly seasoned, in a wonderfully creamy sauce – a true soul food! We've rarely had such an authentic and lovingly prepared dish. The rest of the menu also impresses with authentic Russian home cooking that not only fills you up but also makes you happy. And as if that weren't enough, the meal concludes with ice cream from a small factory – a dream! Fine, aromatic, exceptional – you can taste the quality with every spoonful. A place where you'll enjoy lingering and leave with a smile. We'll be back – no question.

A nice place to sit and have a coffee. Nestled between Wilmersdorf and Schöneberg. Pleasant surroundings. Truly relaxing.

We were here in March. Very tasty pancakes and potato pancakes, fresh vegetables and greens in salads. The staff is pleasant, the atmosphere is very cozy and calm.

A pleasant place with a lovely terrace. The food isn't great, and the prices are a bit high, but the cakes are delicious—especially the Napoleon.

A cozy, quiet restaurant in the middle of Berlin. You don't notice that you're in the middle of the city because the restaurant is on a side street. The service was great. The young waiter was very nice and accommodating. The food, brunch, was very good. The vanilla curd with fruit is highly recommended. We'll definitely be back.

Authentic Ukrainian Borsch and excellent Pelmeni! Very cool waiter!

I have been to this restaurant twice and would like to come again. A Russian-speaking waiter is very nice. I ate bruschetta, Julien, Napoleon (very tasty) and chicken schnitzel. The prices are ok, but for Vareniki and Blinys they are a little too high in my opinion.

It’s unlikely that an establishment can be considered a Russian restaurant (that’s how it’s googled) if borscht is served with BEANS. It would be much more honest to call it not borscht, but soup with beans and beets. The taste is very average. The atmosphere around seemed to be more like an Arabic restaurant. The staff did not want to remove the empty plate for a long time. I asked for tea and they stupidly brought me water with mint and a bag of cheap honey. Many thanks to the waiter for refilling the water. “Tea” cost 4.8 euros. Julienne also tastes average. I regretted that I came, next time I will go to German cuisine establishments and cook borscht at home)

There were four of us traveling through. Got a table spontaneously, good selection of Russian/Ukrainian dishes. Decent portions, you'll feel full. Service was friendly and attentive, and special requests were also implemented immediately. We also really enjoyed the delicious dessert (Napoleon).

It was a very nice atmosphere. In winter there is a heat light here so that it doesn't get cold. The food was good and I can recommend it, which I have written down below. It's ok.

I have seen a lot in my life. But Indian people running a Russian restaurant is clearly going too far, I can't do any of that anymore. (The operator has changed, the restaurant is now run by Indians). If you're into it, have fun.

The WORST place I have ever been to. First of all, there’s no slavic authenticity. As far as I read from another review here, it’s run by the owner of the Indian restaurant nearby. So the staff, the music playing and everything are absolutely not what you expect from this restaurant’s name. And yeah, they don’t speak Russian or Ukrainian. The menu is so random. It has 2-3 dishes from Russian/Ukrainian cuisine and that’s it. And also the staff are rude and behave outrageous.

I was here four times. My order was forgotten once and I had to wait 1.15 hours instead of 30 minutes. The second time we got the wrong food, the third time we paid twice, today we ordered Vareniki and got mashed potatoes. The waiter said four meals were made at the same time, the kitchen was overwhelmed and the waiter had nothing to do with the food. He doesn't check every order. What a shame! Bad staff, bad service!

Absolute bullshit! Called this evening to pick up food - dish costs €14.50 (online menu on the restaurant's website) - with a side dish included - as stated in the description of the dish. So I call and order and am asked what kind of side dish I would like, which also suggests that it is included. I pick up the food and have to pay €19.40. The waiter then laughs cheekily and says: 'Yes, all the prices online are wrong' and side dishes have to be paid extra. He really relies on ripping off customers and thinks it's funny and grins cheekily in my face. About the food: It doesn't taste typical of the country and I certainly wouldn't have been so harsh in my rating if it had been tasty at least for €20. Price/performance - 0/5 Service - -10/5 Food 2/5

I liked the restaurant. We ordered borscht, mashed potatoes with mushroom sauce and chicken. Everything was very tasty! The portions are huge and the prices are quite reasonable for the capital. We will definitely come back and recommend a visit.

The cuisine is mainly Russian (the decor is all Soviet - hence name Potemkin) but they are trying to position themselves as Ukrainian friendly (they have borsch soup on their menu). Overall, the food was really great and hearty. The place was very empty though - perhaps it was due to the rain on Monday evening.

Unfortunately the place has little to do with Russian or Ukrainian cuisine. Kiev cutlet is served with sweet and sour sauce... And then it is not prepared as usual. Don't get me wrong, the service staff are friendly and the food itself was good. But unfortunately the cuisine at this restaurant is not authentic. The ambience is not reminiscent of a Russian/Ukrainian restaurant, the dishes are not prepared according to the correct cuisine (someone who grew up with Russian/Ukrainian cuisine notices this immediately) and you lose the romance there. You can tell from the entire concept of this restaurant that they're just trying to imitate the cuisine, but the owner himself probably comes from a different area and unfortunately can't get that across correctly. Going for a delicious meal if the ambience isn't important to you? Happy to go here - as I said, very nice service staff. But if you are looking for authentic Russian/Ukrainian cuisine and an atmosphere to go with it, then you will be disappointed.

Good location, nice terrace and good food

The restaurant is in a great location on the square and close to the metro. As for “Russian cuisine” and atmosphere, this is not the case here. There are no Russian-speaking staff, the dishes are rather simply European cuisine with a slight bias towards dumplings. Not cheap, but the portions are very large. From what I tried - pasta, beef stroganoff, cutlets - everything was quite tasty. Interior, etc. The decor looks tired.

Great Russian cuisine! I was here with my son We had a borsch and a solyanka soup. The waiter was very nice (Ali). He even bought us two pieces of cake and a schnapps. The five stars are only thanks to him.

Great location, great idea I've been living next door for a year and finally decided to stop by for lunch for the first time. I specially chose the day, only 2 occupied tables, service in Berlin is a creative thing, but it always seemed like there shouldn’t be a problem with this in my native places. Based only on the fact that the restaurant positions itself as the worst one from those very villages As a result, there is no menu in Russian, I couldn’t quickly find dumplings/dumplings with meat, the employees speak broken German/Turkish, there was no dialogue - the waiter was too cold to wait to order, they left... very sad Probably just bad luck

Just beautiful. Well-kept food with the sound of the fountain from Victoria Luise Platz, super nice, attentive waiter, something on the menu for everyone - Vareniki, pasta, fish, vegetables, salad... A feel-good place.

We’ve been going there for years. You can’t beat the peaceful and beautiful location right next to the gorgeous Viktoria-Luise-Platz in Schöneberg. A wide variety of great food and very generous portions. Wines and other drinks a generously poured and the service is very friendly and attentive. Best place in Schöneberg for a delicious, casual, stress free and comfortable meal. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Disgraceful service. When I asked if I could speak to the owner, I was told "he is the owner". A guy who behaved outrageously towards my wife. A pure chauvinist!!! You should definitely avoid this place!

At the end of the day, a restaurant review should focus on service and atmosphere, and then food quality, of course. The food is good, it’s not the best Russian food in Berlin. However, the service and chill atmosphere have convinced me to give this place a 5-star rating. Special thanks to Sharif for making my experience special and memorable. Great patio with huge umbrellas to protect yourself from the sun. Friendly and speedy service. We stopped by a few times during our stay in Berlin to have e a drink during the evening Euro Cup soccer matches. The Napoleon tart was excellent! Sitting outside is so nice until a cigarette or pipe smoker lights up. :-(

For a couple of years that was my favourite restaurant in the area. The food was always great and the service felt like home. However, the last 2 times I visited the place some things changed. First of all, there are no more russian-speaking waiters. Potemkin is run by the same business as the next door indian-restaurant, so all the waiters are from there now. I see no problem with that, they do their job. But the authenticity is completely lost. The food quality became way worse. Before, any time I went there, eveything was super fresh and delicious. The last time I felt that the deep-fried dishes were cooked in overused oil. The smell was very characteristic. Next, a Mojito we ordered was without sugar, super sour. We had to add sugar ourselves, and that a "cocktail" for 9 euros! We spent there 1 hour and there was no one ordering cocktails. I believe, with such a demand they could put more attention to making the drink. Besides that the waiters didn't put enough efforts to get a correct order. Even when I was pointing on the item in menu. Perhaps, it wa late and everyone is tired, understandable. Anyway, be careful and ask to repeat your order, I am quite disappointed with this place. It doesn't cost its price anymore. P.S.: Oh yeah, another thing! The toilets, both for man and women are dirty, small and smelly! P.P.S.: I just received a complaint from Potemkin, that this review is not true and that I was never there. It's a lie. I lived close to the restaurant and went there several times with my wife. I believe, the bank payment statements will be a proof. So, Potemkin's owner or whoever has created a complaint, don't even try to get rid of this review, but make your employees to provide at least as good service as it was years ago.

We visited the Potemkin on Easter Sunday evening and still had the opportunity to get a place. The large and partly covered terrace invites you to relax and unwind. But the restaurant is also beautifully decorated, so you feel comfortable there even when the weather is bad. Our food (borsch and vareniki with hearty filling) was brought quickly and we enjoyed it. The selection of food is quite large and perhaps not 100 percent authentic (for example, there were beans in the borsch). Nevertheless, we enjoyed it and would come back. In addition to driving (limited parking in the surrounding streets), you can also easily reach the restaurant by subway. The Viktoria-Luise-Platz stop is just a stone's throw away.

Terrible service! Don’t recommend or waste your time if you don’t want to be stressed. They said a side dish was included in the plate price, and at the end they charged me 3.50€ more and said I had to pay. The waiter was very disrespectful, they don’t know how to treat a client.

My partner had the deep-fried mushroom dumplings and beef stroganoff with dill potatoes. We've regularly eaten Ukrainian food at the storied Veselka in New York City. Potemkin's borscht and varenyky rate very well. Highly recommend. We'll definitely return.

Dear comrades and comrades! If you want to eat the most tasteless dumplings with mushrooms, come here! This is a masterpiece without words, we already took some ice cream with us. I admit honestly, I thought if they didn’t let me lie down at the door and set up a nativity scene. But the restaurant is excellent and they took pity on them. In general, everything that we ordered was delicious, the atmosphere and service were very friendly and tasted like home. Bon appetit friends, I highly recommend it.

Overall very good: The chicken soup we ordered was great, very tasty, everything was fresh, very strong and intense taste. The pelmeni in the soup seemed fishy to me and had good seasoning Fries were ok, as was the mushroom cream sauce. The delivery was quick. I can't say much about the ambience since I ordered and wasn't in the restaurant. Verdict: Great chicken soup, gladly again.
