Very friendly, attentive service staff. The food tasted good but was unfortunately cold.

Food was good, but I've had much better schnitzels and especially farmer's breakfasts...for a "potato house" all potato dishes should be excellent. Otherwise it's very cramped here, you have to make yourself small to eat, especially if there are four of you seated at a table for four that also has a heater on the wall. All in all it's ok here, but I don't necessarily have to go there again

Expensive and I've eaten better before. As a real Leipziger, I can't recommend this.

Great atmosphere, creative menu & simply delicious…that was my review a few years ago. During my visit yesterday (December 2024) I unfortunately noticed a deterioration in quality. Apparently the owner and/or the chef has changed here, because a lot of things have changed for the worse: we ordered spiced meat (€8), which was good, and the Jägerschnitzel at just under €20, which was fried in old oil and therefore tasted catastrophic It was also carelessly arranged. There used to be many dishes prepared in small pans and rustic bowls to suit the ambience, but now you have simple, carelessly arranged plates. The croquettes were frozen goods, which is a no go for a potato house. The price of the dish is in no way justified. The service did its job, but unfortunately we lacked friendliness. Conclusion: unfortunately no recommendation for a visit to Leipzig.

Very cute German interior design! Food was delicious and served fast, waiters were very attentive and polite and they offer a menu in English. There are good but limited vegetarian options.

My girlfriend and I dined here today (12/26/24). In general we were pleasantly surprised. A table was quickly found. Drinks and food arrived quickly. As you can see in the pictures there was a pulled pork bowl. This was changed slightly upon request without any complaints. And what can I say... It was simply delicious. My girlfriend had a chicken bowl and there was little to complain about here either. Only both bowls could have been a little bit bigger. For dessert we had an apple cake crumble with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. This was also just good, warm and a bit “crunchy” on top. That's how it should be. My girlfriend had the Kaiserschmarrn. There are deductions here because it tasted a little too much like dough or flour (something like that). Too bad it could be better. I found the atmosphere very good and comfortable. There was something to see and admire everywhere. Maybe just because of the Christmas, winter decorations. Unfortunately, the toilet lacks charm and you are rather happy to be out of here again. Ok, you also go there for the food. But the saying remains in your head... "If you want to know how the company runs its kitchen, go to the toilet first" Last but not least, we were greeted by a friendly and experienced waitress. We were welcomed professionally and asked quickly and appropriately about any further requests we had. No long waits and always a smile on your face. Unfortunately we didn't find out the name but the lady was the only one wearing a red top that evening. We'd love to come back. Thanks

Rustic (in a positive sense), cozy. Good service We had Schnitzel Jäger style, very tasty (could have been a little more), as well as the small salad. Only the apple crumble was a bit too sweet for me personally.

It's always really nice in the potato house, the prices are right and the food tastes really delicious. We were there spontaneously and without making a reservation and got a place. That was late afternoon. In the evening it is advisable to make a reservation. Super nice staff who are very attentive. A big thank you to the staff. We will come again.

We spontaneously went for a late lunch (2:30 p.m.). The three of us were assigned a table for 4 people (which is basically completely fine), even though the restaurant was pretty empty and everything at the window was free (even if there were tables for 6). Well, the tables are also very small for 4 people. The potato pancakes were out of the package. The fried potatoes are probably from the wholesale market too. The schnitzel was manageable. The duck leg alone from the special menu was good to very good. That saves the 3rd star. The drinks could be cheaper. Overall, the service was friendly. The atmosphere feels more like a beer bar.

Really small, almost cute to look at. Had to cut out a few places, tendon): . There wasn't that much left. Too bad for the animal. It was topped with 2 fried eggs. Not that great in terms of price. Somehow we also expected more from the name. Cheese for example... Unfortunately, the potato soup with grilled sausage (additional €€) wasn't convincing at all. Soup less hearty, rather lighter and green): . I was really looking forward to a good home-style soup. This was also rather bland in taste, with little feeling of potato. You looked for onions and bacon in vain. Grilled sausage... well... more like a bockwurst. Not again. The place was well filled. Volume accordingly. But we were still able to talk. Overall it wasn't that nice anymore. Quality and performance were significantly better. Very unfortunate. We wouldn't come back for these dishes.

Despite the Christmas market, we were allowed to dine without a reservation. This is certainly not a given. Super friendly service and really delicious food that comes quickly. Prices that are truly unbeatable. If we ever come to Leipzig again, we would definitely go there again. Keep it up

After our visit to the Christmas market we had dinner at the potato house, we really liked the atmosphere, the food was very tasty, the service was very friendly and attentive. A successful end to our visit to Leipzig.

We came in the evening with 6 people without a reservation and still got a place. We ate very well and plentifully at reasonable prices. Thank you very much for that and gladly again.

We had ordered a specific table for 9 people for dinner with friends and were there to make the reservation. So that we could reserve exactly this, we even changed the day. When we got to the restaurant, we were given a completely different table. When we asked why, we received an unfriendly answer: We reserve seats, not tables! Unfortunately, after this disappointment, the food (cold pulled burger, carelessly prepared steak au four) and the overwhelmed service (forgotten request for additional avocado cream, etc.) could not change our minds. We won't be coming back.

Been here only once, with a friend. It is generally fine style-wise but also "off" in a way: looks old but is not. The service was fine and the food was fine. Nothing else, really. we tried one of their gigantic potatoes stuffed with cheese and creams and it was... well, fine!

During our weekend trip to Leipzig we stayed at the Topfohaus 1. Since there were mixed reviews about it online and you can't get a table in many other restaurants without making a reservation 3 weeks in advance, we wanted to give it a chance. Said in advance - never again! Firstly, we were disappointed by the number of potato dishes that were on the menu. In my opinion, you can't call yourself a potato house if there are three types of potato casserole and then only completely different dishes that have nothing to do with potatoes. When I asked what else I could order, we were recommended the extremely great schnitzel and as a side dish you get fries or croquettes and these can also be described as a potato product, thank you very much... We decided on two different schnitzels and had to wait a whopping 50 minutes! waiting for our food. And what came could have been prepared in a maximum of 10 minutes; a ready-made schnitzel lay carelessly on the plate and a tiny pile of French fries next to it. The schnitzel was a classic ready-made schnitzel with pressed meat and the fries were baked in old, smelly and burnt fat, as was the schnitzel. Everything tasted inedible and burnt. My girlfriend had almost everything returned. The ready-made schnitzel with a value of less than €1 cost €20. USURY and pure tourist fooling! I would advise anyone not to eat there!! When asked why you don't make the schnitzels yourself, the answer was that you wouldn't be able to do it in time. That may be the case, but I expect appropriate quality for €20, or sell your crap for cheap money, then you can't complain. I've never felt so ripped off. NEVER AGAIN!

I'm actually a fan of the potato house and think the idea is great. However, my last visit was a bit sobering. The burgers were placed on a plate that was much too large (we didn't know that you had to order fries separately) and served without any garnish. The spinach in the baked potato was very dry and not seasoned, as was the egg pressed into a mold on top. All in all a bit careless and not well done. It's a shame, especially since I used to really enjoy coming here.

Unfortunately we were a bit disappointed. The burger was still quite tasty, even if the cottage cheese was very intense and certainly not to everyone's taste. Unfortunately, the sweet potato fries weren't tasty at all. For one thing, they weren't crispy, but soft and limp. On the other hand, they tasted purely like frying fat. The bowl was very small for the price and the sauce (mango curry) was obviously a ready-made sauce from the supermarket. In addition, the chicken, which according to the menu was supposed to come with crispy breading, was also not crispy. The service was okay, but new drinks could only be ordered upon request. The ambience is quite nice, but the toilets are less so and smell unpleasant. Overall, unfortunately not recommended.

Today we have lunch at the potato house No. 1 in Leipzig ordered, among other things, a steak au four. We received a loveless plate without salad with fries that were returned because they were still raw inside (see picture). Never again for €19.50. Only the service was very nice.

After the meal and about 45 minutes before closing time, it was made clear to us that the initially courteous service staff wanted to call it a day: tables were moved, lights were turned off, a few of the service staff had already changed, were sitting at the counter and hanging on theirs cell phones.

Solid cuisine, decent drinks, in short everything is ok. But everywhere the last bit is missing to be grand. The portion sizes were not suitable to completely fill the stomach. At the table we were informed that the next guests were expected in an hour. So completely rock solid.

We had to wait a long time to be served. We also didn't get a white wine spritzer, even though she had noted it down. The food was very good.

I would like to share my extremely negative experience in this cafe. When I politely asked if there were free tables, I was told there weren't any. But shortly afterwards two women came into the café and suddenly there was a table available for them. (I asked if you had reserved, and They didn't) It was obvious to me that I was refused a table because I'm a foreigner. Such discriminatory behavior is completely unacceptable and disappointing. Customers should be treated equally regardless of their origin. I will definitely not recommend this cafe.

The service staff are really very accommodating and extremely friendly. The atmosphere is nice and old, but a bit cramped. I had the potato bowl with chicken fillet pieces (nuggets). In the bowl there was exactly one potato with some salad. I don't like the price-performance ratio when it comes to food. It tasted okay, nothing extraordinary. However, for €15 I would have expected something different to receive a bowl with 1 potato and 5 nuggets.

Very nice staff, the food was really tasty. We went there again the following evening. And 3 weeks later we went back to Leipzig and of course the first route took us straight back to the potato house. Simply delicious and keep it up.

Which wouldn't be bad if I hadn't asked three times whether she understood my criticism of the food. Another professional told me I should have contacted her for clarification. But honestly, how am I supposed to know that as a guest? Because I ate half, I have to pay half. The fact that I didn't have that is now an open question. Customer loyalty is different. Unfortunately, the lady could only react to matter-of-factness in a cheeky way and was surprised that my tone also matched hers. A small excerpt from the specialist's comments that I should breathe and not talk so much, she is too old to be doing this to herself and has been in her job for too long, she is tired of it and I should just eat at home. When I picked up on her verbal lapses/models and mirrored her behavior, she felt attacked, even though they were her own words first chosen. I've never experienced anything like that in the catering industry. In addition, the toilets were contaminated with urine on the seat 30 minutes after opening. In a potato house I would have expected a totally delicious, high-quality baked potato and no convenience products. Or that it is at least mentioned. Too bad, not a nice experience.

Good food at a reasonable price. Please be patient, as the delivery of the food can take some time - depending on the number of guests. This is already on the menu. The portions are manageably large.

We got a table on Sunday evening without a reservation. The food was very good (potato soup and schnitzel with spiced meat / the fried potatoes ordered with it were great). Unfortunately there is no real local beer, only Paulaner Plörre from Munich, luckily you can switch to great non-alcoholic drinks!

With a rating of 4 stars, which should be closer to 3.5, there are a few points that stood out for us. The service was consistently friendly and attentive, which made the stay pleasant. Despite the low occupancy, the food was served quickly, which underlines the positive impression of the quick service. There is nothing to complain about here. The food itself was solid and down to earth. Tastes good, but without any special highlights. However, in relation to the price, it was rather overpriced, which clouds the price-performance ratio somewhat. For what was offered, one could have expected a little more. The ambience of the restaurant is certainly a matter of taste. It has a more traditional, simple charm, but that doesn't necessarily appeal to everyone. We found the background music to be inappropriate and not very pleasant, which unfortunately diminished the overall impression somewhat. All in all, a solid restaurant that has its strengths in friendly service, but still has room for improvement in terms of price-performance and ambience. Okay for an uncomplicated evening, but not a place you necessarily have to visit repeatedly.

Unfortunately, we (6 people) cannot fully share all of these positive reviews. Nice restaurant in a great location in the middle of Leipzig. That yes. Apparently the reputation is better than what was offered to us that day. The dishes were ALL very tasteless. As if these had not been seasoned. No garnish or attractive presentation of the food, just careless on the plate. Due to the language barrier (Vietnamese staff) there were incorrect orders for two meals and incorrect drinks. We suspect that criticism of the shift management is responded to very snidely (this or something similar has already been written in other reviews) and, in our opinion, unfriendly to the guests. Among other things, it was said that our service was 2nd year old and that we shouldn't behave like that. In retrospect, open communication and having our table served by a trainee would have been the better option. This would have been the !!nice!! It took a lot of pressure off of the trainees and gave us a lot more understanding. We feel very sorry for the trainees because we have no prejudices against nationality or level of training. The concept should be thought through here and the tables should perhaps be labeled as TRAINEE tables. Overall, unfortunately, the impression remains negative and we will no longer visit this restaurant.

Service and ambience are great, but because of the significantly small portion of food I give it 3 stars overall. For the price you would expect a different portion size. Stuffed baked potato with drink cost around €17-18, unfortunately I wasn't completely full at the end. It would be ideal for a small hunger/snack. Price-performance is not quite right.

Four of us had dinner there on Saturday evening and the reservation was made online without any problems. The food was delicious and the prices were commensurate with the service. The young man who served us was on his toes and the service was really great.
