My husband and I were visiting Leipzig and ate there twice, we liked it so much.😍👍🏻 Really highly recommended 🌟

We came in the evening with 6 people without a reservation and still got a place. We ate very well and plentifully at reasonable prices. Thank you very much for that and gladly again.

I liked how they served the food, different colorful dashes, everything simple and lovely.

Been here only once, with a friend. It is generally fine style-wise but also "off" in a way: looks old but is not. The service was fine and the food was fine. Nothing else, really. we tried one of their gigantic potatoes stuffed with cheese and creams and it was... well, fine!

We had ordered a specific table for 9 people for dinner with friends and were there to make the reservation. So that we could reserve exactly this, we even changed the day. When we got to the restaurant, we were given a completely different table. When we asked why, we received an unfriendly answer: We reserve seats, not tables! Unfortunately, after this disappointment, the food (cold pulled burger, carelessly prepared steak au four) and the overwhelmed service (forgotten request for additional avocado cream, etc.) could not change our minds. We won't be coming back.

During our weekend trip to Leipzig we stayed at the Topfohaus 1. Since there were mixed reviews about it online and you can't get a table in many other restaurants without making a reservation 3 weeks in advance, we wanted to give it a chance. Said in advance - never again! Firstly, we were disappointed by the number of potato dishes that were on the menu. In my opinion, you can't call yourself a potato house if there are three types of potato casserole and then only completely different dishes that have nothing to do with potatoes. When I asked what else I could order, we were recommended the extremely great schnitzel and as a side dish you get fries or croquettes and these can also be described as a potato product, thank you very much... We decided on two different schnitzels and had to wait a whopping 50 minutes! waiting for our food. And what came could have been prepared in a maximum of 10 minutes; a ready-made schnitzel lay carelessly on the plate and a tiny pile of French fries next to it. The schnitzel was a classic ready-made schnitzel with pressed meat and the fries were baked in old, smelly and burnt fat, as was the schnitzel. Everything tasted inedible and burnt. My girlfriend had almost everything returned. The ready-made schnitzel with a value of less than €1 cost €20. USURY and pure tourist fooling! I would advise anyone not to eat there!! When asked why you don't make the schnitzels yourself, the answer was that you wouldn't be able to do it in time. That may be the case, but I expect appropriate quality for €20, or sell your crap for cheap money, then you can't complain. I've never felt so ripped off. NEVER AGAIN!

Despite no reservation, we got a table and had delicious food, great service

I'm actually a fan of the potato house and think the idea is great. However, my last visit was a bit sobering. The burgers were placed on a plate that was much too large (we didn't know that you had to order fries separately) and served without any garnish. The spinach in the baked potato was very dry and not seasoned, as was the egg pressed into a mold on top. All in all a bit careless and not well done. It's a shame, especially since I used to really enjoy coming here.

The ambience has diminished, the food instead of chicken sticks was frozen nuggets, potato pancakes were so greasy that the oil could already be seen on the plate,

Unfortunately, the portions are really small for the price. If you're very hungry, you're unlikely to feel full.

Unfortunately, the sweet potato fries weren't tasty at all. For one thing, they weren't crispy, but soft and limp. On the other hand, they tasted purely like frying fat. The bowl was very small for the price and the sauce (mango curry) was obviously a ready-made sauce from the supermarket. In addition, the chicken, which according to the menu was supposed to come with crispy breading, was also not crispy. The service was okay, but new drinks could only be ordered upon request. The ambience is quite nice, but the toilets are less so and smell unpleasant. Overall, unfortunately not recommended.

Today we have lunch at the potato house No. 1 in Leipzig ordered, among other things, a steak au four. We received a loveless plate without salad with fries that were returned because they were still raw inside (see picture). Never again for €19.50. Only the service was very nice.

After the meal and about 45 minutes before closing time, it was made clear to us that the initially courteous service staff wanted to call it a day: tables were moved, lights were turned off, a few of the service staff had already changed, were sitting at the counter and hanging on theirs cell phones.

Solid cuisine, decent drinks, in short everything is ok. But everywhere the last bit is missing to be grand. The portion sizes were not suitable to completely fill the stomach. At the table we were informed that the next guests were expected in an hour. So completely rock solid.

I would like to share my extremely negative experience in this cafe. When I politely asked if there were free tables, I was told there weren't any. But shortly afterwards two women came into the café and suddenly there was a table available for them. (I asked if you had reserved, and They didn't) It was obvious to me that I was refused a table because I'm a foreigner. Such discriminatory behavior is completely unacceptable and disappointing. Customers should be treated equally regardless of their origin. I will definitely not recommend this cafe.

The service staff are really very accommodating and extremely friendly. The atmosphere is nice and old, but a bit cramped. I had the potato bowl with chicken fillet pieces (nuggets). In the bowl there was exactly one potato with some salad. I don't like the price-performance ratio when it comes to food. It tasted okay, nothing extraordinary. However, for €15 I would have expected something different to receive a bowl with 1 potato and 5 nuggets.

Very nice staff, the food was really tasty. We went there again the following evening. And 3 weeks later we went back to Leipzig and of course the first route took us straight back to the potato house. Simply delicious and keep it up.

Unfortunately it was not possible to get a seat with a child and stroller in an empty restaurant. Preferably at the side table, but just not at the window. A very bitter lady who wanted to show her power in allocating tables... Maybe wear a hat more often in the winter, then the character won't freeze so much.

But honestly, how am I supposed to know that as a guest? Because I ate half, I have to pay half. The fact that I didn't have that is now an open question. Customer loyalty is different. Unfortunately, the lady could only react to matter-of-factness in a cheeky way and was surprised that my tone also matched hers. A small excerpt from the specialist's comments that I should breathe and not talk so much, she is too old to be doing this to herself and has been in her job for too long, she is tired of it and I should just eat at home. When I picked up on her verbal lapses/models and mirrored her behavior, she felt attacked, even though they were her own words first chosen. I've never experienced anything like that in the catering industry. In addition, the toilets were contaminated with urine on the seat 30 minutes after opening. In a potato house I would have expected a totally delicious, high-quality baked potato and no convenience products. Or that it is at least mentioned. Too bad, not a nice experience.

Good food at a reasonable price. Please be patient, as the delivery of the food can take some time - depending on the number of guests. This is already on the menu. The portions are manageably large.

We got a table on Sunday evening without a reservation. The food was very good (potato soup and schnitzel with spiced meat / the fried potatoes ordered with it were great). Unfortunately there is no real local beer, only Paulaner Plörre from Munich, luckily you can switch to great non-alcoholic drinks!

With a rating of 4 stars, which should be closer to 3.5, there are a few points that stood out for us. The service was consistently friendly and attentive, which made the stay pleasant. Despite the low occupancy, the food was served quickly, which underlines the positive impression of the quick service. There is nothing to complain about here. The food itself was solid and down to earth. Tastes good, but without any special highlights. However, in relation to the price, it was rather overpriced, which clouds the price-performance ratio somewhat. For what was offered, one could have expected a little more. The ambience of the restaurant is certainly a matter of taste. It has a more traditional, simple charm, but that doesn't necessarily appeal to everyone. We found the background music to be inappropriate and not very pleasant, which unfortunately diminished the overall impression somewhat. All in all, a solid restaurant that has its strengths in friendly service, but still has room for improvement in terms of price-performance and ambience. Okay for an uncomplicated evening, but not a place you necessarily have to visit repeatedly.

Unfortunately, we (6 people) cannot fully share all of these positive reviews. Nice restaurant in a great location in the middle of Leipzig. That yes. Apparently the reputation is better than what was offered to us that day. The dishes were ALL very tasteless. As if these had not been seasoned. No garnish or attractive presentation of the food, just careless on the plate. Due to the language barrier (Vietnamese staff) there were incorrect orders for two meals and incorrect drinks. We suspect that criticism of the shift management is responded to very snidely (this or something similar has already been written in other reviews) and, in our opinion, unfriendly to the guests. Among other things, it was said that our service was 2nd year old and that we shouldn't behave like that. In retrospect, open communication and having our table served by a trainee would have been the better option. This would have been the !!nice!! It took a lot of pressure off of the trainees and gave us a lot more understanding. We feel very sorry for the trainees because we have no prejudices against nationality or level of training. The concept should be thought through here and the tables should perhaps be labeled as TRAINEE tables. Overall, unfortunately, the impression remains negative and we will no longer visit this restaurant.

Service and ambience are great, but because of the significantly small portion of food I give it 3 stars overall. For the price you would expect a different portion size. Stuffed baked potato with drink cost around €17-18, unfortunately I wasn't completely full at the end. It would be ideal for a small hunger/snack. Price-performance is not quite right.

You probably would have liked to do something other than work. In order not to be grumpy, you need to have a certain amount of joy in your job, which you noticed today. The food came after a short wait. The schnitzels were very well fried. You could taste a slight hint of clarified butter, the breading was crispy and the meat was still tender but well done. The fried potatoes were well seasoned. We both like to eat low salt so we were really happy about this. The boiled potatoes were also delicious. Unfortunately, only the gravy probably came from a bag or tetra pack. But let's be honest - where else would it come from if there are no roast dishes on the menu. Of course, you could cook a gallon a week in advance and then defrost it as needed or or or. But since it was served in a separate gravy boat, I could dose it myself or I could have left it alone. So I don't see it too narrowly. All in all, there is still a little bit of room for improvement, but I think it always is. Given the price of €28 per serving, one could of course be more critical. But we have a comparison to another restaurant in Leipzig that explicitly only advertises schnitzel dishes and that cannot do what the potato house did today for a similar price. The ambience is a matter of taste and anyone who decides to eat there will probably also like or at least tolerate the decor. In any case, the restaurant was clean, appeared tidy and offered enough space between the tables. For a delicious, home-style (lunch) meal, the potato house is definitely worth a visit.

Price performance is not right. After being welcomed by an unfriendly lady, she showed us the table 'not nice'. The waiter was nice but that was the highlight of the evening. Food and drink came quickly. Food wasn't special. The lady at the entrance was the first thing I would change.

I can't understand the positive reviews, at least not when it comes to the kitchen. We were in a larger group and the opinion was unanimous...the food was bad. It starts with the look: the food is carelessly slapped onto the plate. There is no vegetable side dish, at least not with the things we ordered. The meat was tough and bland, and there were no spices other than salt. I'm really not a gourmet, so I don't like it first. That was successful. So no recommendation from me, at least not if you want to eat something.

After we asked where our food was, the service became increasingly unfriendly and began to use our first names. I have never had anything so unfriendly in a restaurant in my life.

Tipping ripped off. We just wanted to eat a little something, not a huge dinner. That's why we decided on the potato soup. The shock: 1. small portion for 6.00+ €3 “grilled sausage” (it was a grilled Viennese) but 2. it didn’t taste good at all! I couldn't finish it... I found that extremely unfortunate. Still, we tipped. The shock at home: the amount I announced was not deducted from the account, but a few euros more! A look at the bill shows that the waitress tipped herself more than I promised her. It's not about the few euros, but about the principle of not ripping off customers... Will definitely not visit the restaurant again.

On a Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m., with a bit of luck, get a window seat. The service staff are attentive, friendly and quick. The food was served quite quickly, the portions were a bit sparse considering the price, but sufficient. We will consider visiting this restaurant again.

Wir können das Kartoffelhaus nur empfehlen. Wir euren mit 2 Erwachsenen 2 Jugendlichen und einem Hund da. Unser Hund bekam sofort einen Napf mit frischen Wasser. Getränke und Speisen wurden aufgenommen. Eine Allergene Karte die ich mir zuhause schon runter geladen hatte zeigt mir was genau ich essen könnte. Das Essen war heiß und sehr lecker. Ofenkartoffen mit Pulled Pork, Kaiserschmarrn und Currywurst Pommes .Sehr zu empfehlen.

Wir waren zu viert das Erstemal hier essen. Fazit wir kommen definitiv nicht noch einmal. Die Räumlichkeiten selber sind sehr rustikal und altbacken eingerichtet, dazu kommt sehr laut und unruhig, da viel zu viele Tische und vor allem zu nah bei einander vorhanden sind. Unser Termin wurde nach telefonischer Reservierung vergessen einzutragen dadurch wirkte die Servicekraft auch sehr unter Zug aber Sie war nicht unhöflich. Als Vorspeise hatten wir Würzfleisch und Salat mit Dressing und Baguette. Das Würzfleisch war ok der Salat war nicht hundertprozentig frisch und auch vom Geschmack fade. Als Hauptspeisen hatten wir zweimal Schnitzel mit Rahmchampignons und Kroketten dazu dunkle Soße. Außerdem hatten wir noch Schnitzel mit Ofengemüse und Bratkartoffeln und Currywurst mit Bratkartoffeln. Zusammenfassung ist zwei Schnitzel waren noch rot und mussten nochmal zurück. Die Rahmchampignons und die Soße war einfach nur Pampe viel zu sehr angedickt was man bei den Champis gar nicht brauch wenn man mit Sahne reduziert und die Bratkartoffeln waren überhaupt nicht knusprig und lasch vom Geschmack. Der Rest war auch nur höchstens ok. Abgerundet wurde das Ganze noch durch die für diese Qualität viel zu hohen Preise. Es erinnerte an Kantine aber nicht an Kochen. Schade da die Lage des Lokals sehr schön ist.

Schnitzel war geil, danach zum Leipzig vs Leverkusen Spiel gegangen und hatte kein Hunger. Sehr sättigend.

Leckeres Essen für jeden was dabei, zu jeder Zeit möglich. Preis Leistung ist in Ordnung
