The ambiance was a pleasant trip back to the 80s. The service was exceptionally friendly and the food was delicious. We'll be back! 🫶

Great Greek restaurant with good food. Often very crowded, which speaks volumes for its popularity. The ambiance isn't great. Even if you're familiar with beautiful, old-style tavernas, this one doesn't quite fit the bill. It feels a bit like a former inn with a small function room. But that doesn't detract from the food. Whenever I'm in Darmstadt, I almost always go there.

Here you'll find very friendly hospitality with Greek flair in a cozy restaurant atmosphere. The lunch menu is extensive and the dishes are authentically delicious. A clear recommendation from us!

We were here as a group. The atmosphere was definitely good. Although the place was very crowded, everything went quite smoothly. The food itself was okay, but nothing special.

We went there late in the evening with four people and a dog. The friendliness and good humor of all the waiters and waitresses were simply amazing... We had a lot of fun, especially with the ouzo. My trusted Greek restaurant for over 10 years! Whether with family, for birthdays, or other holidays. Or just for two with my husband or girlfriend, or even just ordering to take away. It's always a lovely and enjoyable evening! The food has always been delicious and of good quality since my first visit. The staff have also been familiar and very friendly for many years. This creates a pleasant, family-friendly atmosphere! For me, this is Darmstadt's best Greek restaurant!

You should definitely make a reservation in advance. Update 2024: reservations are no longer absolutely necessary. The food is still excellent. Update 2025: food is still excellent.

There aren't many Greek restaurants in Germany that serve Stifado. Here, they do, and it was absolutely delicious. It was a change from the usual grilled dishes. We also had a vegetarian main course, which is also rare, and it was also very good. Highly recommended.

He's trying to make fun of us, that's a no-go. Do your job, bring our food and leave, what's going on!!! Absolutely delicious & highly recommended! The food was truly delicious, fresh, well-seasoned, and authentically Greek. The grilled specialties and the appetizer platter were particularly special. The service was friendly, attentive, and immediately made you feel at home. We'd love to come back.

Authentic Greek food with a German twist

We visited Poseidon for the first time through the Schlemmerblock restaurant, and we were not disappointed: extremely friendly and attentive service, and excellent food (fish platter for two). We will definitely go back!

Poseiden has a beautifully decorated interior plus an outside area. The meals are well priced, particularly the lunch menu offering a wide selection from 11.50 € to 13.50 € for a small entrée sized salad and main course. The food quality is very good and the service is fast and friendly.

Compared to other Greek restaurants, the food here was lacking. They didn't offer a simple pita gyro, so we just ordered the gyro. Unfortunately, for the price (€14.50), it left a lot to be desired. Regarding the service: we had to wait a very long time to order and pay. The prices are also very high. You pay €0.50 for each change to the dish (we ordered fries with the gyro instead of rice—a decision I now regret). To change the salad, you had to pay €1.50, even though we only wanted tomatoes and onions instead of a full salad. It's also important to note that we weren't told that the dish already included onions. I don't understand that at all, since I made it very clear to the waitress that I didn't want a salad, just tomatoes and onions. So I don't understand what the problem is with giving me just tomatoes instead of a side salad!! They even included a slice of tomato in the salad! Despite everything, I have to say that we ordered very simple dishes (gyros), and the restaurant looked quite elegant. Perhaps our poor experience is simply due to the fact that the restaurant has other specialties and we know much better Greek food. As a relatively modest student, however, the restaurant is definitely not recommended.

We made a reservation for this evening for five people. The food and, above all, the staff were excellent. We were served by two young gentlemen and a lovely lady, top-notch staff! I can highly recommend it to everyone, and we'll be back. :)))

Maybe it was just too cold outside, but in my opinion the food wasn't served super hot and unfortunately got cold outside very quickly. The fried potatoes were like sliced ​​fries, but I would have slightly preferred the fries.

Randomly dropped in while in the area for business. Was just going to have a coffee & water. After seeing the lunch menu added a Mix-grill plate and a greek wine😇 Food was really good, I will be back with friends and family, for sure some evening and stay longer✌️🇮🇪/🇬🇷🏛️😎

The food was great. Really very tasty! The ambience, see picture, is very Greek, which is logical. The service staff were very nice and knew how to do their job. Unfortunately, we were often “overlooked” and then sat at the table without drinks. Asking someone to pay also proved difficult. We had to keep raising our hands to be noticed.

In jeder Beziehung volle Punktzahl! Schönes Lokal, freundliche schnelle Bedienung und v.a. ein ausgezeichnetes Essen. So ein fin gewürzte Bifteki habe ich wohl noch nie gegessen! Der Rhodos Teller ist echt empfehlenswert! Preise erfreulich moderat.

We were greeted very warmly and friendly by one of the employees and shown to our table. He was an attentive, slim and dark-haired young man. The other two, a man and a woman, carried out their job objectively, briefly and succinctly! Don't get me wrong...we weren't served badly...but not like in a restaurant, more like a parts issue at a car dealership ;-)). I wrote this paragraph to the owner purely for information!!!! The food was very good and plentiful!! We can really only recommend this!! THUMBS UP!! We had a gourmet block with us, unfortunately, as so often, we neglected to mention this when ordering. Unfortunately, the employee was unable to change it afterwards and we therefore had to pay the entire amount. Luckily we had enough money with us, otherwise we would have had to do the dishes ;-)))) Of course it was our fault!! So if you go there with a gourmet block, please be sure to specify this when ordering!!!!! Since it tasted so good, we want to go to this restaurant again!

The food was okay so far. Unfortunately the waiting times were very long, there may have been a lack of staff. Three quarters of an hour until the first drink and one and a half hours before eating. The salad was manageable and unfortunately the accompanying bread wasn't served to us at all.

Fresh, homemade dishes are their pride and joy. Taziki sauce and bread were to die for! Lamb was very tender. I also tried the Greek Naous wine, schnapps, and chocolate cake. Great space for small and larger gatherings; inviting atmosphere.

Wir waren schon unzählige Male in den letzten Jahren mit dem Schlemmerblock in diesem Lokal. Es war immer extrem lecker und ein herausragender Service. Wir haben noch nie länger als 20 Minuten auf den ersten Teil des Essens, meistens einen Salat, warten müssen. Und wir wurden immer sehr freundlich bedient. Man könnte auch per Karte zahlen, aber klar ist es für das Restaurant besser, wenn man bar zahlt, vor allem mit dem Schlemmerblock. Wir essen immer die Dorade und es gibt kein anderes Restaurant, das den Fisch so lecker zubereitet und es ist eine große Portion. Das Ganze mit tollen Kartoffeln, Grillgemüse und Salat.

Super delicious food. Good value for money. There are good offers, especially at lunchtime. I've been there a few times and never disappointed. There are some gluten-free options, but of course often with meat. I really enjoy coming here.

We were there relatively spontaneously (we only made a reservation that same morning). The restaurant was busy, so it would be difficult without a reservation. The wait staff was exceptionally attentive and friendly, the food was excellent and the waiting times were short. The price is also very reasonable. I would be happy to come back at any time.

Delicious and fresh. Not so easy for vegetarians, but there's still plenty to find on the menu! I had the salad and thought the dressing was really good and flavorful. My companion had a meat dish and generally loves this Greek dish. I thought it was nice that we got free bread. 5 out of 5 for the food (even though Greek cuisine isn't really my thing). The prices are okay. The portions aren't huge. The service is relatively friendly. Ouzo is offered at the end of the meal. I had the impression that it wasn't welcomed if you didn't want to drink the ouzo. I found that a bit unfortunate. But overall hospitable. Admittedly, the ambience wasn't quite to my taste. I didn't exactly feel comfortable, but it definitely fits the name "Poseidon" and the Greek, slightly more chic atmosphere. A good place to go for anyone who likes Greek food!

Waren heute seit längerem mal wieder hier. Aber leider hat sich nichts verändert. Einrichtung dreckig und veraltet, Stühle wackeln. Wände dreckig gelb statt weiß. Das Essen war auch nur durchschnittlich, kaum gewürzt. Mediterrane Küche Fehlanzeige. Personal sehr nett, aber bei Kleidergröße 46 minimum, Leggins muss nicht sein. Wir besuchen nächstes Mal einen anderen Griechen in Darmstadt, mal hat ja die Wahl, zum Glück.

Nun ja, am ehesten 4 oder gar schlechter. Die Beilagensalate waren unterirdisch. Vorspeise gut. Hauptgerichte eher klein, für das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis. Knapp über 100 Euro für drei Personen schon heftig. Auch möchte ich persönlich nicht direkt geduzt werden, als fast 60jährige Person. Sanitäre Anlagen okay, wobei die Papiertücher sehr dünn sind. Unser Favorit: Delphi in Hanau

Weil wir in der Nähe auf eine Messe gingen, aßen 2 Geschäftsfreunde ich am 5.11.24 im Poseidon Gerichte von der Mittagskarte. Ich hatte Lamm mit dicken Bohnen in Tomatensauce. Es war sehr lecker. Nicht zu viel. Dazu ein absolut trinkbares alkoholfreies "Bier" aus der Bügelverschlußflasche. Der Service war lieb und aufmerksam. Fühlt sich an, wie ein richtiger Familienbetrieb. Zentral gelegen. Ordentlich eingedeckte Tische. Würde wieder ins Poseidon gehen. Dann als Abendessen und mehr Gerichte von der Karte auswählen.

Even though it was a busy dinner service, we managed to find a table without a reservation. The food tasted great, with authentic flavors and nice presentation. It did take a little longer than expected to get the check at the end, but overall it was a pleasant dining experience

I was a bit shocked when I ordered a rump steak and then such thin meat came... I've been here a lot and the portions were always good. Unfortunately it has slowed down a lot.

Everything perfect. We go at least once a month and on special occasions. The food is very good and abundant, but the best thing is the friendly treatment of the staff, they are very approachable and attentive. Tido is delicious. We recommend the Gyros Special and the calamari :-)

Unfortunately, my visit to this establishment was extremely disappointing. The service left a lot to be desired as the waiting times were unbearably long. The staff seemed overwhelmed and not attentive, which significantly spoiled the overall impression. The food itself was of absolutely mediocre quality and was in no way convincing. The dishes were neither tasty nor particularly creatively prepared. However, the situation outside was particularly frightening. There we were observed by rats who were unabashedly hanging around the tables. This was not only extremely unpleasant, but also hygienically questionable. Overall, I cannot recommend this restaurant under any circumstances and hope that those responsible will take the necessary measures to remedy the above-mentioned grievances.

The Poseidon has been around for ages and over all these years the quality has remained consistently good, which is an achievement in itself. Starters and meat dishes are super tasty, the gyros are flawless, without gristle or fat, as is unfortunately often served elsewhere. The portions look small, but that's deceptive. Not exactly cheap in price, but definitely worth the money. Tip: Be sure to try the Galaktoboureko for dessert!

The two of us had dinner at Poseidon this evening, it was a fantastic evening. By the way, no problem with a wheelchair either. Starter Pikilia, very tasty platter of Corfu, real Greek mocha and dessert Chalwas, where else can you get that. Plus the best, attentive Greek service, and finally an ouzo on the house. There's no better way to enjoy a warm summer evening. Beautiful. Keep it up!

I visited the restaurant once again, expecting good food and professionalism as always. Unfortunately, this time I miscalculated :(. Waiting for the card for over 10 minutes, then again to be able to place an order. Appetizers and drinks were served efficiently. Main course with 3 portions, two people at one time, 3 after 5 minutes... No-Go for me. Of course, we waited for our friend to receive her meal - a cool meal... All guests received Ouzo, we didn't even ask if we wanted... Well, next time I will think about visiting this restaurant again. The food was tasty, the portions were sufficient... but there was a lot missing WOOW, I want to come back here.
