Portofino in Insel Poel

I'm still giving it full marks today, but I'd like to give the owner a small tip: It would be very helpful if the opening hours – both in and out of season – were updated. For example, today it was shown as open on a Tuesday, even though it's actually a closed day. This can quickly become a bit annoying for guests who have to travel a long way. It's certainly a small thing, but details like these make a big difference and contribute to the guests' good mood. Otherwise, a truly lovely restaurant that I'd happily recommend!

Super nice family-run restaurant. The pizzas are truly amazing. A small menu with thoughtful ingredients. The ice cream is also good. A mix of traditional (vanilla, chocolate, stracciatella), regional (sea buckthorn), and special (pistachio) ice cream flavors. Homemade, of course. Open seasonally from March to October

The children's portion of spaghetti was so ridiculously small for the high price that my three-year-old wanted to eat half of my pizza to feel full.

The island of Poel is very beautiful and the prices are still quite reasonable. We visited the restaurant two years ago on our last holiday, the prices have remained the same and the food still tastes just as good.

The ice cream here is simply the finest, and with a bit of luck, you can get it until the evening hours ;-). I highly recommend it and am already looking forward to my next visit.

Very poor service, unfriendly, rude, and completely lacking in customer service. Card payments don't work or the pizza dough is out. 😳 We're not vacationers and recommend you take a pizza to the beach from Pizza Poel in Kirchdorf. The quality is much better, and card payments work.

We went there spontaneously for dinner. The pizzas were very good, the size was fine for us. The waiter was medium-sized and friendly. Overcharged for one pizza 🧐 Neither the manager nor the waiter apologized 🥸 strange behavior if it was unintentional...

Another typical tourist dump...unfortunately... I still remember the classic German restaurants a few years ago. People loved going there. This Italian place has potential, too. My pizza was small, with a thick, dry crust and a strange-looking dough, lacking in taste and appearance. Italian restaurants in particular are rarely stingy with the size of their pizzas or offer a variety of sizes. It's far too hectic for that... Making money with takeaway pizza is all well and good, but this all seems very uncoordinated.

If someone could take pity on us and clean the restrooms...that was absolutely disgusting. Otherwise, the food was good, the location was great, and the service was attentive.

We celebrated a milestone birthday there and were very pleased. We were given a lovely table at the edge, which had been decorated a bit. Full marks in all categories! Very good food with top-notch service. And to top it all off, a huge, delicious spaghetti ice cream.

Horrid! We had to wait 45 minutes for our food, and they didn't bring us the food we ordered! My wife ordered a Margherita pizza with a garlic dip that was supposed to be served separately...and yet the dip was already on the pizza. My carpaccio was really only a poor 4 on a scale of 1-10. The spaghetti Bolognese tasted like canned pasta and was totally bland. We always enjoy coming back to Insel Poel, but this was the first and last time we ate there.

So, we were just there, and initially had mixed feelings after reading what was posted here. But it's good that we went anyway. It was delicious, the portions were generous, the taste was very good, and hey, the price was right too, considering we're on a holiday island. We'd love to come back 👍👍👍☺️

Portofino in Timmendorf has been one of our most popular restaurants on the island of Poel for years. We love the store 🥰…. The location is inviting, the service is friendly and funny. The food is always delicious and to our complete satisfaction. Dogs are also welcome at Portofino. Christian and Simone & Pino 🐶 P.S. We know firsthand that it is not true that Portofino will only be an ice cream parlor from next year. The restaurant business with pizza, salads and bruscetta remains; but without pasta and meat; From next season you will find these in the Vellas at the port of Timmendorf.

We decided to have dinner there. And were warmly welcomed. Staff was friendly, courteous, helpful. The menu was clear and well sorted. Food was great and was delicious. What wasn't so good is the men's toilet area, there was a broken vase with flowers on the shelf, holes and the walls (old drill holes) in general I'm sure the condition could be better👍🏻 all in all we were very satisfied, please keep it up☺️

Fresh seafood? 10 percent, the rest was surimi, not real seafood. The portion was small and tasteless. My husband's beef tenderloin was gristly and salty. But nobody is interested there either, the tourists are processed like they are on a conveyor belt. Definitely not recommended.

"Mini" Pizza Diavolo for 14.90 - underbaked and 2 slices of salami, "pizza rolls" - 4 teaspoon-sized mini flatbreads - the absolute impudence is the tiramisu - a mini cake with a dollop of cream - what's that? This restaurant has gone from top to absolute debacle in recent years.

Today we asked whether we could eat here with our dog this evening and spontaneously decided to have 2 limonchello cups on the terrace. Unfortunately, after eating the delicious Eisnecher, it was not possible to pay the €14.60 with an EC card. To do this I actually had to go to two EC card machines in town because the first machine was out of service. Result: 1. The waiter did not receive a tip. 2. Dinner will not take place at Portofino. ???? Where exactly is the purpose of the boss who ordered this according to the waiter's statement?????

I had dinner there today with my wife, we had beef carpaccio with rocket and parmesan as a starter, and a frutti di mare for the main course, the waitresses were all very nice and in the mood to joke, very pleasant! We were warmly welcomed, the orders were taken quickly and the food, both starter and main course, arrived quickly. It took a while to get the bill, but "Hey, I'm on vacation, you have time." The food was delicious, we would love to come here again.

The food is nothing special, but the prices are touristy. The staff is unfriendly. During three visits over three years, our order was forgotten once (even though it was paid), was burned once and this year it wasn't even taken because people who were there after us were given priority. The Fischbaud is better.

I ordered 4 pizzas to pick up. I know from other pizzerias that you are offered a grappa while you wait and are not rudely sent outside to wait. The size of the pizzas was a joke, even my children were still hungry afterwards. One pizza was almost burnt. And the quality wasn't good for a pizza from an Italian restaurant, I'm used to something different. Sorry, but not recommended.

Overall ok, not a bad restaurant. In terms of ambience it could be better, you sit outside close together and rather dark, between yapping dogs and smoking guests, a bit like being in a train station. Good for dog owners and smokers, but not for the majority of guests in my opinion. Dealing with a hair found in the food should have been more professional. The pizzas were extremely tasty, but topped sparingly.

We had takeaway pizzas and ate on the beach. Pizza tasted good, but was very small and had a thick crust, so even children weren't full after eating a whole pizza. The sizes of the pizzas were also different and one was in the oven a little too long. Price-performance definitely doesn't fit, you're paying primarily for the proximity to the beach.

We were there with 4 children. The people were very nice, even though it was full, they accommodated our every request and tried to serve us quickly. The food was very tasty and the price was completely okay.

Went there for dinner a few times. The restaurant is busy in the evenings and many people also order take-away. The two of us with a dog had no problems getting a place. The food is delicious, the service is friendly. The portion sizes are good. A tiny point of criticism, unfortunately our food didn't come to the table at the same time on our last visit. That can happen and it wasn't the case with the other tables. We'd love to come back.

We were there three times in total. The ice cream is delicious, but was comparatively very expensive (€1.80 per scoop, we only paid €1.50 everywhere else). You should definitely change the ice cream labels. They looked very worn and are not very inviting. We ordered the pizzas to go and they were ready on time. However, the price is also very high here, but the taste was still ok. I would warmly recommend that the owners put more love into the property. You won't find any ambience here and there's still a lot of room for improvement when it comes to hygiene.

My ice cream cafe didn't have any ice cream, just cream and jelly that tasted like stale coffee grounds water 🤢If you can't do it, you shouldn't offer it! My daughter's spaghetti ice cream was OK. That's why just 2*

We were there on a busy day. We got a table straight away and were served very nicely and quickly. We then had to wait about 30 minutes for the food. It tasted good. What we have to rate as negative is the cutlery. It was dull and cutting a pizza like that was almost impossible. Maybe you should add a pair of scissors. This is super quick.

You can't give this place a star, I've never had such a bad meal at an Italian restaurant. Pizza cold, garlic bread burnt and hard, gnocci soggy. And the ice cream seller wasn't in the mood for customers. Not recommended.

We were there for the farewell dinner on August 8, 2024 and had a very good meal, pizza ok, pike perch fillet good, tiramisu unfortunately was out (a shame), but the raspberry sundae with hot or warm raspberries was the crowning glory that evening. The service was attentive and friendly despite the high season. All in all, a good price-performance ratio under today's conditions.

Today we ordered 5 pizzas and bruschetta to go. We were supposed to come back in an hour, which was very sporty, but what was then presented to us was a disgrace Pizza consisted of dough and little toppings, everything was carelessly thrown onto the pizza and the toppings were also laughable. We've never had such a bad bruschetta either. Never this store again for us.

Once and never again. We often bought our daughter ice cream, which is fine. I found the visit to the restaurant itself rather unpleasant. We had a very pushy waiter. There were just 3 small slices on the salami pizza I ordered. In my opinion the whole thing had nothing to do with pepperoni pizza. Burnt edge. During our stay, an Italian compatriot loudly asked the manager whether he had treated himself to his Ferrari yet, so of course we had to save on the salami. Purely a tourist place, not for locals.

If you have children, you shouldn't eat here. The owner thinks he has to complain to children, even though they were just playing in a normal way while waiting for the food. Absolutely disrespectful. Actually strange, as the size of the pizza is more like a child's portion.

Our favorite Italian for years! We've probably already tasted our way through the entire menu. ;-) The ice cream is homemade and super delicious. Sometimes you have to wait quite a long time for the pizza. Especially when there is a lot going on. You can tell from the waitresses that they are uncomfortable keeping their guests waiting. I have no problem waiting. I'm on vacation after all... So far I've only ever had very good food. The staff is friendly and humorous. Unfortunately, I also get very stressed every now and then. All in all, I can recommend the Portofino. We'll definitely be back on our next vacation.

Atmospheric place, very polite service

I had the misfortune of visiting this pizzeria and it was a complete disappointment. The pizza was not only dry, but also slightly burnt around the edges. The wait was unbearably long, especially when I requested the bill. The atmosphere in the restaurant was so unpleasant that I was only happy when I was finally outside again. To make matters worse, I also had an upset stomach the next day. I definitely don't recommend this place.

Edit: A day later we had stomach problems which can be traced back to the visit!!! Pizza was very dry to my taste. The pizza was also a bit burnt, but that was limited. The ambience wasn't my thing, it was way too loud and very cramped inside, I can't say anything about the outside. The service was friendly, but ignored the fact that we wanted to pay and made us wait another 15 minutes. All in all it was okay but not necessarily worth a second visit. Since this is my opinion and impression, I ask you to respect that it can of course be an individual and better experience for everyone.

Everything seemed very chaotic and confused in the Portofino. The employees were stressed, but quite nice. We ate the pizza prosciutto and spaghetti alla siciliana. Unfortunately, the ham on the pizza wasn't enough for our taste, but we can highly recommend the spaghetti with pesto, goat cheese and lamb fillet tips. However, we had to wait almost an hour for our food.

We ordered 5 pizzas to take away on site. It was said that it would take about 15 minutes, but then it was 40 minutes, okay. the restaurant was very busy. In our opinion, the quality of the pizzas was poor, too little toppings, cut into quarters and cut into quarters. Another tip, get the bill.
