Porter House in Norderstedt

We were a nice group of seven at the Porterhouse and had a really lovely evening. The service was incredibly friendly and the staff had a great sense of humor – which created a wonderful atmosphere. The steak was cooked to perfection and tasted absolutely delicious. The wine was good and went well with the food. Overall, a pleasant evening in a comfortable setting – we would definitely go back.

Very friendly service. We sat outside and enjoyed the large outdoor area. Plenty of tables, mostly covered. The food was rather mediocre. We had a salad with chicken breast. The salad was very bland and nothing special. We would still come back, though. The steak is otherwise quite tasty.

The most beautiful restaurant in Norderstedt, with the option of dining outside in the sun in the beautiful garden. The planes are clearly visible and audible, but not at all disturbing.

The neck roast was pre-cooked by a system restaurant, but the salad was fresh and of very good quality.

A very nice interior, in my opinion. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The steaks were cooked to perfection. The fried potatoes, fries, and baked potatoes were excellent. The salad to start with was fresh and crispy. We'd be happy to come back.

The restaurant truly is a 10 out of 10 in every respect. I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say this is one of the best in Norderstedt and the surrounding area. The pepper steak is my favorite dish here. It does have a pepper crust, not a sauce, but that's exactly what makes it so unique and delicious. The service was friendly and quick, and the food arrived at the table within 15 minutes. Top-notch!

Super friendly and welcoming service. All the steaks are delicious. Beautiful garden with plenty of seating behind the building. Plus plenty of parking directly in front of the restaurant.

Unfortunately, the food was once again a complete disaster. The meat was stringy, the bread was like a sticky slice of toast, the fried potatoes were far too greasy and unseasoned, the baked potato was tasteless, and the croquettes were terrible. There was no side salad with the meat. It was massively overpriced for the poor quality of the food. It was definitely my last time at Porter House.

The service is fast and accurate. The ambiance outside is debatable. It's not my cup of tea, with the artificial turf and the crooked lamps... I didn't like the food at all. I searched in vain for a vegetarian dish on the menu. I then opted for prawns in oil with garlic. They were swimming in about half a liter of cheap cooking oil; bland and inedible. The baguette was also over-oiled, crispy on top but soaked with oil on the bottom. My companion had lamb, which was very dry. After I told the waitress this, there was no response. I didn't expect anything and didn't want a replacement. It's just a matter of principle when a customer is dissatisfied and how it's handled. Price-performance ratio isn't there for me. I wish the shop all the best, though, especially since it seems to be very popular with families.

Waiters made the evening, keeping our small kids entertained, ensuring we also had a careless dinner.

Oh man, I wanted to have a nightcap at 9 p.m. But they wouldn't let me in. Since they close at 10 p.m., they didn't want another customer drinking a beer, so they didn't! And I explicitly asked if I could have something else to drink. I didn't want anything to eat, and they clearly said no.

A truly beautiful garden where you can sit and eat. For me, that's the highlight. I'd give the food an 8/10.

The food is truly excellent, but the service is simply a solid 6. That evening, we had what felt like three different servers, and one of them was more unfriendly than the others. The wrong food and drinks were served. You constantly felt like you weren't being taken seriously. The staff shouted at each other, ruining the summer evening.

The steak and side dishes were okay, but nothing exceptional. Unfortunately, the prices are quite steep!

I have used it many times. I am always satisfied with the high quality of both the service and food. This time I had shrimp with garlic oil, and I heard it had a garlic flavor and it was very delicious. I went with a colleague who was visiting from Japan, and we were very pleased with what we received.

On average, we thought we would get an extra room as a group, but we were divided into two tables with around 30 people. Food was average at best, skewer was extremely small. Meat nothing special Service is annoying because tables were put together and suddenly two service staff wanted to be responsible and it was difficult for a couple sitting next to each other to be billed separately

Very tasty food. We were there with 18 people, spontaneously got a place and ate sticks and the like. Everything was very well prepared, cooked to perfection and very tasty, really tasty. Since we arrived so late (7:30 p.m.), it was very important that we leave the restaurant at 10:00 p.m. because that is also the end of the workday. We feel a bit rushed here because there was no waiting period. I would still come back for the food.

We go to the Porterhouse at least once every month. What we noticed today, as we did when we visited two weeks ago, is the fact that the food is served on cold plates. This would only be half as crazy if the steak were served hot straight after preparation. I mentioned this during my last visit, and the friendly waitress replied that the plates would then no longer be transportable. In other restaurants we always receive preheated plates. My steak today was ordered medium rare and came to the table more than medium. The first few sections were okay, but then the meat became more than medium rare. Since I was very hungry, I didn't complain, but, true to the motto "Hunger is the best cook," I ate the meat. Next time I visit I will cut up the steak and complain if necessary The dessert: egg pancakes with apple, cream and vanilla ice cream was excellent.

We had dinner there with several people. Everything took a very long time. The prices are set high. We ordered food for over €350. When I asked for an extra bowl of steak sauce, that's what I got. However, it was added to the bill, which I took as a personal insult given the quantity ordered and the cost of the meal! How stingy can a restaurant be? In addition, everything is quite carelessly furnished and the staff prefers to stand together and chat instead of offering service. The dishes could also be modernized. And if 3 people are still eating, you don't start clearing the remaining plates. This puts pressure on the guest who is still eating and is a no go! In any case, next time we will spend our money in another restaurant.

I ate there again after a long time. The staff were loudly insulting each other. The food wasn't that bad, but the atmosphere among the staff quickly ruined a nice evening. The ambiance wasn't great. Ordering and eating took 20 minutes together... I probably won't eat there again.

Good, solid steakhouse! Really great meat. BUT... lousy dishes, carelessly decorated, and presented without charm. Desserts were subpar (we sent back the Kaiserschmarrn, which was hard and dry, the crepes suzette were the thickness of a healthy pancake, and the whipped cream was disgusting). Our service was also poor: we asked for drinks with the menu, removed plates even though someone else was still eating, weren't there to take follow-up orders, and despite asking twice, we had to wait a full 25 minutes for "our" server to pay! PS: The place was empty! There were three people plus the manager standing and sitting around chatting. Once set up, the Porter House is probably only designed for mass processing. What a shame. Summer in the beer garden was much better! Weird!

Good restaurant with nice staff.

We were there for dinner. The food is delicious, but it is also quite expensive. 180 for 4 people and I still needed a sandwich at home. But otherwise everything is good.

The lamb was as gray as the Hamburg sky when it rains. It didn't taste good at all. The food was kindly returned without charge. Not again. Service was friendly, that's why it got the star

Went to the Porter House for the first time and we were very impressed. Otherwise they were always at the competitor around the corner. He won't see us again any time soon. Nice service, good food. Small suggestion: A slice of good bread with the lobster soup would be great

Our first impression was pleasant, there were nice places in the sun and in the shade without prior reservation. The waitresses were also friendly. However, when it came to the side dishes, we had the very strong impression that they were just convenience food, i.e. frozen bread, like it is served in the Blockhaus, and the sour cream, for example, tasted a lot like “bucket” to us in addition to the in The cream is pimped with fresh herbs (darker, finely chopped and very soft herbs). I had a strong feeling that I was tasting the taste of preservatives. As soon as I took the first bite I grimaced and my enjoyment of eating was gone. Also, why on earth is red wine served in such cheap glasses that are far too small to develop aroma? The white wine, on the other hand, was served in additional glasses. For us it was unique... So, we won't be coming back. The price-performance ratio was not justified for us. We weren't asked whether or how we liked it, but I would have liked to have answered directly.

We like to be here on Thursday for the farmer's breakfast! ONLY RECOMMEND! Now comes the BUT, we were there with friends this week, all of the dishes we ordered were so little that it was cheeky, an example: we got 5 croquettes. 5!! And that wasn't a child's plate! For the price, an absolute disgrace! And our young waitress, who was probably Asian, didn't feel like being in a good mood at the table either. Hospitality is different. Unfortunately, it was a bad experience! Half half that we will come back again. Too bad!

Update Dec 2024: Have been there several times now. It's very very good! Pan fish (now 28 euros) perfect, fried potatoes crispy and delicious, schnitzel great. The crispy garlic bread is also great now. A lot has also changed when it comes to dessert. Highly recommended. --- Old review: The service was very friendly! The children felt comfortable. The children's dish (turkey with fries) was really tasty, the panfish with fried potatoes was good and the Nuremberger with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes was very good. Unfortunately, the roasted bread wasn't good in contrast to other steakhouses. It's a shame that there is only ice cream or pancakes for dessert. This is nothing special in my opinion. I find the prices slightly too high (panfish at least 17 euros), but the overall atmosphere is really nice.

The food was super delicious. We both had the pepper steak with baked potato. The potato tasted very good, the curd cream was also very tasty, the meat was very good and the salad was super fresh. As 5+ stars from us. Always happy again.

Es sollte ein schönes gemeinsames Abendessen werden und wurde eine bittere Enttäuschung. Geworben wird mit „Das PORTER HOUSE zählt seit 1977 zu den besten gastronomischen Betrieben seiner Branche. Nicht zuletzt wegen seines in der Qualität gleichbelibenden Frischfleisches von ausschließlich jungen Freilandrindern.“ Eines unserer Gerichte war „KAUKASISCHER SPIESS - Steakfleisch, Filetspitzen und Speck, 220g, mit einer würzigen Garnitur, Pommes Frites oder Backkartoffel“ für 21,90€. Das Fleisch war eine Katastrophe – fast roh – für einen Spieß unmöglich und zum Teil nicht kaubar. Eine entsprechende Rückmeldung an die Bedienung wurde völlig emotionslos aufgenommen und blieb ohne weitere Reaktion. Insgesamt ist zu konstatieren, dass Preis und Leistung weitestgehend außer Verhältnis sind. Ein Alster 0,5 l für 6,30€ und der einfache kleine gemischte Salat für 6,90€

We were at the Porter House Norderstedt on a Saturday evening with four people. There are sufficient free parking spaces available on private property in front of the building. The reception was friendly and our reserved table was immediately available to us. The service was courteous and helpful at all times. The selection of dishes is large, everyone should find something here. The food was at the table quickly, freshly prepared and more than large enough. The range of drinks on offer is also impressive. The prices are reasonable for the quality offered. The restaurant itself is comfortably designed and invites you to relax and enjoy a delicious coffee after your meal. Overall, we were very impressed and will definitely stop by again on our next stay in the area.

Most of the steaks are okay, but the cooking points are often off. Cozy atmosphere, very large garden area, parking spaces are usually sufficient But there is little variation in the menu, it has been the same for years. Prices no longer appropriate for the service

For me number 5 in Norderstedt. It was more expensive than anywhere else, the steak was cold and over-seasoned. The doneness was just right and the taste was good. The garlic bread was cold and dry but crispy like rusks. The fries were soggy, very salty and cold. The salad had a sweet ready-made dressing called “Italian”, which the waitress referred to as vanaigrette. The obligatory shallot cubes and the obligatory Dijon mustard were missing. Instead, it was slightly thickened, like the stuff you can buy in bottles if you don't have any demands and don't want to cook. I should have ordered the salad without dressing. The light on my table stayed off because the battery wasn't charged. The service wasn't warm but courteous. Luckily she spared me the question of my satisfaction, which I rewarded with a 2.5% tip. I also liked that there were cloth napkins.

We ate very well here and were served absolutely courteously. The large summer terrace is absolutely great and very well maintained. Dogs are allowed outside. We'll definitely be back.

But not every day is the same and everyone can have a bad day. The food was average, which would be ok if the price was appropriate, but it was simply too expensive.

We specifically called and asked if dogs were allowed INDOORS. "Of course no problem". Today we are standing there with a reservation and it says “Dogs are not allowed inside”. Then turn to open-minded competition.

Dogs not welcome, definitely in Norderstedt. I ordered a table for my birthday dinner by phone and stated the number of people and mentioned our small dog (3.5 kg Bolonka). When we arrived we saw signs written in the parking lot: Dogs on a leash (absolutely okay and also in your own interest), and dog walks prohibited. Then the next sign on the door: Dogs must stay outside. We were already irritated. We were greeted inside: Reserved? - Yes. . Ah there, the table is outside. The dog is not allowed in here. In response to my objection, I specified the dog when making the reservation and nothing was said about dogs being banned inside and tables only outside, only it was not unusual. I can't agree with that, we often go to restaurants with our dog without any problems. After we left without eating, I called the Mendoza steakhouse and what a miracle, the dog wasn't a problem at all. We then spent a cozy evening there with delicious food. Mind you, there is no mention of a dog ban on the Porter House website either. And it is estimated that Mr. Seeler (whom I appreciated) would not have been turned away with a dog.
