The food was very good. The staff was a bit overwhelmed, and the wait times were long. On the first floor, you had to wait longer for a server because they served outside in the beer garden. He still managed to get upstairs because the kitchen was upstairs, but unfortunately, he was extremely focused on juggling the many plates. The service was abysmal. I ordered a hamburger without fries, but they came anyway, and I had to pay for them because they don't serve hamburgers without fries (???). A lot of things went wrong at the other tables, at least on this Friday (side salads arrived much later than the food, drinks were delivered that weren't ordered). You practically had to force your way into one of the four waiters to be noticed; they were chatting among themselves and with passersby.

The service was a total disaster. Friendliness isn't important, a smile costs nothing... They walk past the table, see empty dishes, and move on. You're not even asked if you'd like anything else. The food itself was good, but the Iberico steak was much thinner this time and cooked quite well... Nous étions venu en 2024 et avions super bien mangé. Nous y revenons donc cette année. Mais hormis la nourriture toujours aussi bonne, le service fu vraiment mauvais. Nous avons reçu nos plats alors que nous n avions pas encore eu notre aperl. Nous avons du attendre encore 10minutes de plus pour avoir à boire. We ate here several times during our Black Forest vacation in the outdoor area. The food was always absolutely delicious, whether it was salads, pasta, or schnitzel. The staff was super friendly and attentive. We felt very comfortable.

We had reserved a table for 25 people at Platzhirsch for dinner after our civil wedding, and it was the best decision we could have made. Everything, from the planning to the service and the food, was simply top-notch! The service was fantastic. The waitresses and especially our assigned waitress were incredibly friendly, very prompt, and accommodating. For example: The waitress always gave us, the bride and groom, plenty of notice when the salads, main course, and dessert would be served. And in less than five minutes, all 25 guests had their food on the table. I've never experienced anything like that before! The kitchen's timing was simply remarkable! The food itself was also very good! Everything was perfectly cooked, and the side dishes were also delicious. The portions were definitely generous. We had everything from Platzhirsch steak to onion roast beef to the vegetarian bowl – and everyone really enjoyed it! Our guests and we felt completely at home!

I took a leisurely, solo stop in the beer garden. I was served quickly. Drinks were cold. The sausage salad arrived at my table less than five minutes after ordering. The sausage salad was solidly flavorful.

I was there with friends and we sat in the beer garden. Unfortunately, the tables weren't particularly clean. I had the Wiener Schnitzel, which didn't impress me – but the positive thing was that the sauce and mayonnaise were included in the price. My friends, on the other hand, were very satisfied with their dishes. (Burger) (Spaetzle pan) The drinks were delicious. I especially recommend the elderflower spritzer – really refreshing and delicious! The lovely atmosphere and the great drinks made up for a lot.

Das Essen war soweit ok. Allerdings hatte ich ein Business-Essen mit 8 Personen und brauche eine Rechnung für die Spesenrechnung. Da versuche ich nun seit 5 Wochen eine Rechnung zu erhalten. Drei Anrufe mit "Ja wir kümmern uns" und drei E-Mails verlaufen im Sande. Da vergeht mir der Appetit.

Das Essen war sehr gut, wurde auch in einem angemessenen Zeitraum serviert nur am Ende wurde der Espresso vergessen, musste man wieder erinnern, Stühle auf der Terrasse für eine längere Bleibe etwas unangenehm, da die Terrasse genau an zwei Straßen liegt, ist der Straßenlärm hörbar aber nicht wirklich störend, sehr freundlicher Service, Preis ist angemessen an die Qualität der Speisen, werde wiederkommen

Unfortunately, very disappointed! The booking, including the request for decorations for a 60th birthday, was simply forgotten! The starter and main course were brought at the same time, plates weren't placed at the seats but simply placed in the middle, no apology, nothing... When I asked after 15 minutes if they could clear the plates, only half was taken away without comment, and no dessert was offered... unfortunately, really awful.

Home-style German cuisine is served here. The roast beef with onions was good and the portion was generous. The salad was included. The spaetzle and sauce could have been improved; they would have benefited from a bit more flavor. Otherwise, everything was quite good overall, but nothing that you haven't seen in other Swabian dishes.

Unfortunately, the veal schnitzel was cooked in a deep fryer. As a result, the meat was far too dry. Not recommended.

My recent visit to this restaurant was unfortunately a huge disappointment, and based on my experience, I cannot recommend it. Upon entering the restaurant, the run-down and worn-out ambiance was immediately noticeable. The decor seemed neglected and did not contribute to a pleasant atmosphere. The service was unfortunately not helpful, but rather disinterested. You didn't really feel welcome or well looked after, which further spoiled the overall impression. The food was at the level of a cafeteria, which is unacceptable for a restaurant. My schnitzel, in particular, was a disappointment: It tasted like frozen food, was far too dry, and the breading was extremely thick, while the meat was as tough as a shoe sole. A truly inferior dish. In summary, neither the ambiance, the service, nor the quality of the food were convincing. A visit that was unfortunately not worth it.

We were passing through and, based on the reviews, made a reservation over the phone. Unfortunately, we weren't informed on the phone that a large event was taking place in the dining room (a birthday party), which made it extremely loud, making it difficult to have a conversation. The music was playing very loudly, even though the waitress in our area had turned the loudspeaker off. The waitress even apologized. I wouldn't visit the restaurant again for this reason. A brief note when making the reservation over the phone would have been sufficient.

Delicious food. Unfortunately, the last time we were there it was very busy and you had to wait a long time to be served. Unfortunately the glass wasn't clean, but it was replaced.

Food was great, there was a long hair in my drink that wasn't mine or anyone else I was there with. When they said there was a hair in it, they meant I would get a new drink straight away. 20 minutes later there was still no new drink so we wanted to pay. Then we had to wait forever for the bill and finally went in and paid there. We said we wouldn't pay for the drink. Very unfortunate.

My review refers to the Platzhirsch Lauben. It's very nice to sit there on the Enz, the beer is good, cold and reasonably priced. But there is nothing to eat, just chips, peanuts or breadsticks. We took a small bowl of chips so that we didn't just drink and for that we had to pay a whopping 3.90 euros. That's really a disgrace.

One of my favorite shops in Pforzheim. We love being there with the kids and it's wonderful to be outside in the summer. Great cuisine, great staff, relaxed atmosphere. The price is also ok, especially the lunch menu.

Went there with my family and we went to the upper area. We wanted to sit on the benches but we were turned away because the tables still need to be cleaned even though the ones assigned to us were just as dirty. We were then told we should discuss it with the other waiter. We waited about 20 minutes for the drinks but the food came quite quickly. While waiting you could enjoy the cozy atmosphere. I had the Viennese style schnitzel, which I can't recommend because it was more breading than meat and the taste of the schnitzel itself wasn't worth it for the price. But the others were all enthusiastic about their food. However, the drinks were all very good and served very well. I had the elderberry and passion fruit spritzer, which I highly recommend. In general I am very satisfied, even if there are some things lacking.

We visited the top dog with a larger group. At the beginning we were taken to a table that was much too small. When we asked how we should eat there, we were at a loss as to how we could even ask such a thing. Especially since we reserved a month in advance. After a good 30 minutes, we were brought to a table that corresponded to our group size. The problem could have been prevented by sorting visitors correctly immediately. The service was okay for the size of our group. Food and drinks almost always arrived at the same time. Only empty glasses and plates were always cleared away upon request. The quality of the food is at a very high level. Anyone who gets upset about the prices here probably only eats in a fast food restaurant. Absolutely justified and within the really normal range. The ambience is great, but the music was a bit loud for us too. You had the feeling that it always had to be louder than the guests in the restaurant. Despite the deficiencies in service, we'll be back. Because we felt completely comfortable. Keep it up! Update April 2025: Service has deteriorated significantly. Bring plenty of time, as there are endless waiting times here.

Our visit to the Platzhirsch in Pforzheim was an absolute highlight! Despite the house being full, we received a very warm welcome and were even given a great table for five people - that alone deserves high praise. The service was consistently friendly, attentive and extremely accommodating. What was particularly nice was that we were immediately informed that the onion roast might take a little longer. In the end it came very quickly - as did all the other dishes - and that with a full restaurant! After about 30 minutes everything was at the table - completely acceptable to us and absolutely within limits. For food: We had the onion roast three times, cheese spaetzle once, Maultaschen and a wonderful spaetzle pan. Everything was excellently seasoned, the quality was top and the spaetzle was of course homemade - you can taste it straight away. Every dish was prepared with love and came to the table hot and attractively presented. The desserts were also a poem: the chocolate cake with a liquid center was a dream for chocolate lovers, the apple strudel was a classic in perfection. Overall, it was a thoroughly successful evening with a great atmosphere, great food and a team that knows what hospitality means. The top dog is definitely worth recommending – we would love to come back!

Once and never again. Service is very inexperienced and really not good. We wanted a seat with a bench, there were a few, but they were supposedly all reserved. During the course of the evening, some people simply sat down there and were allowed to remain seated. To eat. Starter came together with the main course which was very confusing. Drinks took a very long time. Chairs were very worn out.

We ordered spaghetti Bolognese and received carbonara. What a wonderful mistake! It was delicious!!!

Absolutely chaotic service, didn't seem particularly professional either. The food wasn't particularly good or the quality wasn't there for the prices. Fried potatoes weren't even remotely crispy and the food wasn't even really hot.

There were only a few tables occupied. Our table was still a bit sticky and a bit messy from the previous ones. We asked the employee to clean the table, which he did immediately. We ordered chicken schnitzel, Maultaschen and Linguíni Carbonara. My son would have preferred to order the latter from an Italian restaurant because it was more like linguíni with scrambled eggs and the crispy fried bacon was only warmed up briefly. Unfortunately, one of the chicken schnitzels was still raw. The rest was quite ok. Price-performance ratio is impressive. Als wir an diesem Donnerstagabend um ca. 22:45 Uhr das Lokal betreten, sind 3 männliche Servicekräfte in ihre Smartphones vertieft. Ich erkläre, dass wir gerne noch ein Glas trinken würden. Mit der Bemerkung „Wir haben geschlossen“ werden wir weggeschickt. Liebes Platzhirsch-Team, ich war selbst lange Jahre im Service, und wer hart arbeitet, hat seinen Feierabend mehr als verdient. Aber es ging nur um 3 Getränke. Nur aus der Flasche, nur Softdrinks, nur bis 23 Uhr… es hätte so viele Möglichkeiten gegeben, das Ganze für Gäste und Team befriedigend zu lösen. Ihr habt euch anders entscheiden, und deshalb habe ich mich (wie bereits vor Ort erwähnt) als umsatzwilliger Gast regelrecht ver*rscht gefühlt. Wenn ihr niemanden mehr bewirten wollt, wäre es fair, dass ihr dann auch die Tür abschließt. Service: 1 Stern Wiederbesuchs-Faktor: 1 Stern

The concert at the nearby CCP was great, and the three of us would like to have another nightcap. According to its website, the top dog is open until 11 p.m. When we entered the restaurant on this Thursday evening at around 10:45 p.m., three male service staff were engrossed in their smartphones. I explain that we would like to have another drink. We are sent away with the comment “We are closed”. Dear top dog team, I was in service myself for many years, and anyone who works hard more than deserves a day off. But it was only about 3 drinks. “Only from the bottle”, “only soft drinks”, “only until 11 p.m.”… there were so many ways to solve the whole thing in a way that was equally satisfying for guests and team. You decided differently, and that's why (as already mentioned on site) I felt like I was really being cheated as a guest who wanted to make a profit. If you don't want to entertain anyone anymore, it would be fair for you to lock the door too. Service: 1 star Revisit factor: 1 star

Portion-price taste of the cordon bleu with fries and cream sauce was great. Unfortunately my girlfriend's grilled vegetables with grilled salmon were very greasy, but the taste was okay. The service was great despite the stairs and quite a few guests. Very nice staff. I like the old-style ambience.

Hello, Today I ordered the top dog steak with grilled vegetables and a few spaetzle on the side. The food was very tasty and definitely recommended. The meat could have been seasoned a little more heartily but otherwise it was top top top. The young man who brought me food was very friendly and well dressed. In any case, plus point.

The dishes are mostly ready-made products. We ordered apple strudel as dessert and the accompanying fruit tasted like onions, which suggests a lack of hygiene in the kitchen. There was also no reaction from the service regarding the defect. How the restaurant has more than 4 stars is a mystery to me. Ambiance is good and enough space.
