It was... okay. I found the dining room on the first floor a bit uncomfortable. Too many tables, so it felt cramped. Low ceiling, therefore very noisy. There's a doorway leading to a stairwell. I had cannelloni and bruschetta. The cannelloni was quite tasty, but I really didn't think the bruschetta was good for €8.50. For me, bruschetta needs crusty baguette, lots of garlic, good oil, and strong spices. The baguette was cold and untoasted, you couldn't taste the garlic, there was hardly any oil, and the flavor was just very bland. It was also a bit odd to see kitchen staff taking a break at the next table and eating their McDonald's order. The service was friendly, if a bit curt.

I know Düsseldorf isn't that progressive yet, but vegan cheese alternatives should have arrived here by now. They don't exist here. The only option is no cheese. The least you could do in this situation would be to reduce the price by omitting cheese (and thus saving money for the restaurant). Unfortunately, that's not happening here. A vegan pizza costs the same as a non-vegan pizza. Apart from that, the pizza is only average, so I can't even give it extra stars for taste. Conclusion: If you still can't offer decent vegan options in 2025 (even in Düsseldorf, the city that's lagging far behind), you'll get minimal stars. No criteria stands out enough to raise your ranking to 2 stars.

We stopped here for lunch on a whim and were not disappointed. An authentic Italian pizzeria. The crust is super delicious and thin, just like I'm used to from Italy. We haven't had such a good pizza in Germany in a long time. The prices are great.

Overly salty pizza, rude waiter, it's fine for people who want a late-night pizza after a few drinks. But don't go there expecting a good pizza. They think "Merlot" is an Italian wine. Nothing more to say.

The bill is steep, just like the food on offer. Nothing Italian except for the vague name of the restaurant. The server was rather nonchalant, even disrespectful. Move on by unless you can't find anything to eat after a few beers.

The feta cheese salad was a disgrace. Carelessly put together, with a tiny amount of feta cheese crumbled on top, and a single small slice of baguette on the side. The cannelloni was also a complete disappointment. The service was disinterested. We won't be going back.

After a thoroughly enjoyable evening, we wanted to end the day comfortably with a pizza. Instead, we were brought back down to earth with a rude jolt – by the employee who took our order. From the very first contact, it became clear: friendliness is clearly in short supply here. Although he greeted us, his tone was condescending, stressed, and incredibly rude. It almost seemed as if we were a nuisance to him – as if our mere presence were bothering him. He was clearly overwhelmed, but instead of dealing with it professionally, he took his frustration out on the guests. And in a way that truly spoils your appetite. One moment, one conversation, and the entire visit was ruined. It's simply incomprehensible that someone like that is on the front line and has customer contact. One thing is clear to us: We will definitely not be coming back. If you have to put up with this kind of treatment as a guest, you've definitely come to the wrong place.

We went to Pizzeria Matteo in the evening after the fair and unfortunately, it wasn't a good experience. The pizza had very poor toppings and tasted like bread. Maybe it was an exception, but the pizza there was among the top three worst pizzas I've ever had. On top of that, the man there seriously tried to sell me a burnt, returned pizza from a customer before. That was really cheeky. Well, I'll never be back.

We had Margheritas, they were good and very good value for money (only €7 for the pizza) very good value for money however I found the cheese used to be much too salty the pizza had a strong salty taste which reduces my rating to only 3 stars

There's nothing better than eating at Matteo's after a long day. Matteo is very friendly and customer-oriented. I go there every week; he doesn't have to say much; he sees me and knows exactly what I want. Highly recommended.

A very traditional pizzeria. The oldest in North Rhine-Westphalia. Italian dishes have been prepared here for over four generations. And you can taste it. Delicious food and attentive service, such as from Princé. Thank you to you. We'll be back.

The service is abysmal. We wrote down our order, but in the end, my husband didn't get his order and was left hungry. The man kept rushing us and didn't even want to listen properly. We don't know his name, but he had a bit of blond (red) hair on top, and his hair was dark with gray and middle-aged. Please take care of your staff so there aren't more problems like this.

Once – but never again. At first, I wanted to sit outside after ordering. But I was wrong: According to the waitress, you're only allowed to eat large pizzas outside. Small or medium? Forbidden. I was asked to go back inside, as if I were a student who had broken the rules. Even then, I had a bad feeling. Once inside, I waited for my pizza – and later wished I hadn't. What was served to me was an insult both visually and gustatorily: a wafer-thin, almost translucent crust, so sparsely topped that you'd think the cheese had been lost along the way. No aroma, no color, no life – this pizza looked as if it had been forgotten and then baked out of pity. The taste was just as disappointing: bland, unloving, nothing you'd want to remember – except the disappointment. Conclusion: Once and never again. I'd rather get a portion of fries at the corner – cheaper, more honest and, above all, without rules about who can sit where.

I only give 5 stars because there is no more👍 The pizza is incredibly tasty. Thin dough, crispy and the toppings are of high quality. Well-chosen ingredients create an incredible explosion of flavors😄 The price is very good considering both the quality and the liquor of the pizzeria. The two of us discovered the restaurant yesterday and spontaneously decided to grab a bite to eat. Each of us had a pasta dish – the food was really delicious, even if my portion was a bit small. What we were unfortunately less impressed with was the service: After being shown upstairs, we were assigned a table for two. Shortly after, a larger group (about 8 people) arrived, which arrived after us but was served much earlier. We had the impression that we had been forgotten at first. After we ordered, the food arrived promptly, and during our meal, we were also asked if everything was okay – which was pleasing. Another point that bothered us: At the neighboring table, a larger group of women had already started clearing their tables, even though not everyone had finished. It seemed as if they were trying to get the guests to leave quickly. When we were clearing the table and paying, we also had the feeling that they wanted to get us out as quickly as possible so that the table could be reassigned. Especially on a busy day like Japan Day in the Old Town, a little more serenity would have been welcome. Overall, the food was impressive, but the service unfortunately left a rather impersonal and rushed impression. It's a shame, because the ambiance and the cuisine definitely have potential.

The pizza was eaten, and it was nicely crispy and rather thin, but rather lightly seasoned. The price of €16 for a 26cm salami pizza was also high. The same goes for the almost €7 for a 0.4l drink. Due to the optimal location, there was a high turnover of customers, which affected the service. Finally, the closely spaced tables and chairs created a lack of ambiance, which, in the absence of music or similar, created a feeling of oppression and discomfort. Okay when there are lots of people, but otherwise there are better places away from the hustle and bustle.

Pizzeria Matteo – with a double T, and with good reason: an absolute institution in Düsseldorf for decades! Whether for a quick hunger in between, a late snack after an evening in the old town or a cozy meal in the restaurant - here you can find legendary pizza of consistently great quality. Wishes are always fulfilled: half salami, half tuna? No problem. Salami extra spicy? Anytime – whether midday, night, young or old. I still remember my 18th birthday over 20 years ago when I visited Matteo for the first time – an unforgettable moment. Now, 20 years later, back again: same taste, same enthusiasm. Simply: brilliant pizza. Great taste. I'll definitely be back!

Pizza Gamberetti, eine Portion Quattro-Formaggie und eine Flasche Wasser ohne Kohlensäure wurden bestellt. Nach 45Min. Wartezeit, wurde uns eine Pizza baby-Garnellen wässrig/matschig (Gamberetti war nirgendswo auf der Pizza zu finden), eine leblose Portion Pasta ohne Gorgonzola und altem Käse sowie abgefüllte Flasche Leitungswasser serviert. Dass die Pizza und die Nudeln stehen geblieben sind, hat dass den Service überhaupt nicht interessiert. Pizzeria Matteo- Düsseldorf/Old Town Not recommended at all, one star is even too much. We spontaneously decided to eat here (2 people). Pizza Gamberetti, a portion of Quattro formaggie and a bottle of non-carbonated water were ordered. After 45 minutes While waiting, we were served a watery/mushy baby shrimp pizza (Gamberetti was nowhere to be found on the pizza), a lifeless portion of pasta without Gorgonzola and old cheese and a bottled bottle of tap water (absolute impudence). The service wasn't at all interested in the fact that the pizza and pasta were left standing. We complained to service and the store manager, unfortunately ZERO response. Price/performance below all else. That was probably our last visit. Keep your hands off...

We spontaneously decided to eat here. Was a complete success. Don't let the rather spartan furnishings fool you. The food and service were first class. Pizza perfect, topped with fresh ingredients, thin and cross as you like it. The pasta was great, the portion was very large, unfortunately I couldn't eat it all, which I'm very sorry about. The shop is very well organized, the moment the waiter takes the order on his cell phone, the chef already has the instructions, so it usually works pretty quick. Something special: the dishes are always served with a bowl of fresh garlic in oil and one of hot peppers in oil. This means everyone can refine their dishes as they wish. The fact that the prices are moderate rounds the whole thing off positively. Clear recommendation to everyone who, like me, likes to read reviews beforehand.

Ich habe eine gemischte Pizza zusammen gestellt und probiert, und sie war einfach himmlisch! Der Teig war perfekt knusprig und die frischen Zutaten haben den Geschmack wirklich unterstrichen. Es gibt eine große Auswahl an Belägen, sodass für jeden Geschmack etwas dabei ist. Besonders hervorheben möchte ich den freundlichen Service. Das Personal war äußerst aufmerksam und hat sich wirklich um uns gekümmert. Man merkt, dass hier mit Leidenschaft gearbeitet wird. Ich kann die Pizzeria Matteo nur wärmstens empfehlen! I recently visited the Pizzeria Matteo in Düsseldorf and absolutely loved it! The atmosphere is simply wonderful – cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxing evening with friends or family. The pizzas are a real highlight. I put together a mixed pizza and tried it and it was to die for! The dough was perfectly crispy and the fresh ingredients really enhanced the flavor. There is a wide selection of toppings, so there is something for every taste. I would particularly like to emphasize the friendly service. The staff was extremely attentive and really looked after us. You can tell that people work here with passion. I can only warmly recommend Pizzeria Matteo! If you're looking for good pizza in Düsseldorf, you've come to the right place. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

I would like to leave an important feedback at this point. Unfortunately, the staff at this pizzeria, including the owner, are very unfriendly and seem extremely condescending towards the customers. No German is spoken and you get the impression that people are gossiping behind the guests' backs because people are constantly laughing. What struck me as particularly negative was that the owner, who often stands at the checkout, reaches into the ingredients with unwashed hands - including the container with tuna - and eats them in front of the customers. This behavior seems extremely unsavory and unprofessional. Another problem was that the Coca-Cola Zero I ordered was actually Pepsi. We were not informed about this in advance. In addition, a waitress ate her Burger King food directly in front of the guests during service, which also seemed unprofessional. The condition of the restaurant also left something to be desired. The tables were dirty, with crumbs, grease stains and napkins lying around. When I ordered a Pizza Tonno, which according to the menu is served with onions, the onions were completely missing. When asked, the owner explained that I had to pay €1.50 extra for the onions. After paying the additional fee, my pizza was "reworked" - however, it ended up having more onion than tuna on it. Because of these experiences, I will no longer visit this restaurant. The quality of the food, service and cleanliness were disappointing. An absolute failure!

Hello, we were there yesterday on a busy Friday evening. We ordered 2 pizzas, spinach and Hawaii. I have to say, wow, delicious pizza, great satisfaction. Very thin, delicious base, well topped, all the ingredients tasted good, so it was great, and pizza is so enjoyable to eat with just your hands, so we. We ate outside, enjoyed the atmosphere, watched it being prepared, that was quite something. I can't say anything mega-positive because it's the little things that make it so attractive. We'd love to come back.

The taste is simply great 🙌🏽 for me the best pizza in Düsseldorf! But it makes a huge difference whether you are there on the weekend or, for example, on a Tuesday evening at 10 p.m.

TO RUN AWAY! Very thin pizza with minimal toppings. We had barely finished eating when we were almost thrown out even though people in our group had been served well after the others and had not finished eating. Price much too high for what it is, especially since the waiter forces us to leave a tip (despite a €285 ticket). Very cold welcome, we had the impression of being disturbed as soon as we asked something.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend the restaurant to anyone. The food is not good for the prices. We wanted to sit upstairs since we were sitting right by the door in cold temperatures. Hat uns niemand gesagt. Nie eine Menukarte gesehen Im imbissbereich in dem ein Stuhl fehlte? Visited this restaurant while visiting the Christmas market. It is very noisy which is not pleasant. We ordered apple juice but got a different drink. After we told them about it, they did not want to bring the ordered apple juice and claimed that we had ordered something else. Too bad about this. The cheese was too overpowering with the lasagna. By the way, the food was good and tasty.

Absolute impudence on the part of the store. At first we were greeted with a “not keen attitude” (there were 3 people). Then no waiter came to take the drinks for ages. In the meantime, a new group arrived and sat down at the next table. These were served immediately. When we asked if we could order, the answer was an angry yes. When the pizzas came, the garlic was forgotten, but it was added without any problems. However, it was taken away from us pretty quickly; the garlic was probably needed somewhere else. However, nothing was taken from the next table. While paying, the waiter came and wanted to get started. When I started, the waiter puts the equipment on the table and starts clearing everything from the next table and taking new orders. After what felt like an eternity he came back and wanted to settle accounts. I told him my pizza and beer. He began, I had a spritzer. This is where the discussion started, 3 people, 3 meals, 3 drinks (2x white wine spritzer, 1x beer) and the waiter didn't let the fact that I had a beer dissuade me. After 10 minutes of discussion, I paid for the pizza (Quattroformaggie €17, beer €6) without a tip. He charged my friends for a pizza and an apple spritzer and grumbled at me that I hadn't paid for everything. We often said that we had 2x white wine spritzer and a beer, he charged 2x apple spritzer and 1x beer. After minutes of discussion, the waiter realizes he did something wrong and says I didn't pay enough. Then I showed him the card and my transaction and still said I had to pay something more, then I got up and walked away from the table. My 2 friends paid the difference between the apple spritzer and the white wine spritzer. The service is terrible, no respect for the customer, can't remember 2 orders (pizza, beer) when paying and yells at the customer. Pizza was nothing special for a takeaway restaurant, but paying €17 for it is an outrage, but the much bigger outrage is the service

Absolute disgrace, I would advise anyone not to enter this store!!! We wanted to eat a pizza and asked if it could be packed in a box even though we were eating on site. We were there with our son and just wanted to eat a piece and take the rest with us. When we were sitting upstairs, a waiter came up to us and shouted at us that you weren't allowed to sit there with cardboard. We then pointed out to him that we had specifically asked the boss. After a minute the boss came and literally shouted at us that we only wanted to eat one piece. I didn't even manage to eat a piece. That's really not how you treat customers. Pizza also tasted better once, it was definitely the last time there. Avoid this “restaurant”!!!

Away from beautiful views and a lot of tram...... This is about the best pizza I've ever had the pleasure of eating!!

It's nicely done like an Italian restaurant. So far good. But I wouldn't go there for good food. After you've had a drink you can take a pizza to go, but it's way too overpriced for sitting down. The pizza was ok. Very thin dough and more crunchy than nice and fluffy with high hydration. And probably the most outrageous thing is that the 0.7l bottled water costs €7 if you fill it yourself. Unbelievable.

Ordered pasta with Gorgonzola and received pasta with a tasteless cream sauce. When I complained, I was given salt and pepper and two spoonfuls of parmesan cheese by a visibly annoyed waiter. Unfortunately not recommended.

Fantastic Italian restaurant. Gladly again.

Pizza que se sentía auténtica y cocinada con pasión. Los precios eran razonables y tres de nosotros comimos dos platos por 100 euros. Muy buena elección de comida y un menú de bar razonable también. Buen acceso a las principales líneas de metro y en el corazón del casco antiguo.
