Always closed even though the internet says it's open. Too bad

The food is delicious when it's open. Don't count on it. This is the second time we wanted to eat there, but it was closed (Friday at 6 p.m.).

Opening times are incorrect. Officially until 10 p.m., the door was already closed at 8 p.m.

That was our last visit to Lo Stivala. The first thing we noticed were the "napkins," which were actually just a tear-off sheet from a paper towel roll. Where do you find something like that? The pizza served didn't have the promised toppings either. The bottled beer tasted pretty stale. Then there was the not-so-friendly service. Nope, I don't need to put up with that again!

Extremely unreliable! You have to be extremely lucky to get a pizza during the advertised opening hours. It's almost impossible to reach them by phone. If you get lucky once out of five times, the pizza is excellent! It's a shame, but after the last promise that I could pick up some pizzas that evening for a larger group, I couldn't reach anyone by phone, and then there was a handwritten note on the door: "Sorry, we're closed, open again tomorrow from 5 p.m.", this was unfortunately our last failed visit to this pizzeria. Impossible!

I don't speak any German and I am respectful that I am in a country where I don't speak the language and am embarrassed that I have to ask in English. I need not have worried here. The staff were so kind and helpful that we ended up visiting almost every day of our stay in Monschau. Sometimes I came in with my family and a couple of times I came on my own for a coffee and pastry whilst they were all still sleeping. I felt equally welcome each time. The staff were very kind and helpful. I particularly enjoyed sitting with my coffee and pastry and watching the world go by from their window seats. We also called in to get sandwiches to take away with us on the day we drove to visit the Nurburgring and we were so glad we did as they were delicious.

One of the best pizzas I've ever eaten.

Note in advance: The restaurant changed management in June 2023, and many older and positive reviews still refer to the old (presumably very good) operator – we were, of course, with the current operator (June 2024). First of all, the ambiance: The back room has the charm of a train station concourse – and was similarly cool (not cozy in cool outside temperatures). The front room – right by the counter and the oven – was what you'd expect from a pizza delivery/kebab shop. However, the music is louder and has a powerful bass. We had a Diavolo (labeled "spicy" on the menu, with salami, onions, and peppers) and a Speziale (with tuna and onions). Visually, they both looked identical – drenched in cheese (some kind of cheese) and topped with three slices of salami (cut in half to make the six half slices look like more). The Diavolo was tasteless (apart from the salami)—I've truly never had such a neutral pizza in my mouth. It wasn't just that it wasn't spicy; the sauce was completely tasteless, and the dough was as delicious as a communion wafer in church. The consistency was okay, but what's the point when you're chewing on salami like cotton balls? The few strips of canned peppers only occasionally attempted to combat the lack of flavor. We'll say that the salami tasted good where my fork managed to pick up a bit—but it was still hopeless. Spices... largely nonexistent. The black pepper (thanks to Lidl—that's what it said on the disposable grinder) saved it somewhat, which we sprinkled on more than generously. The tuna pizza wasn't any better. The tuna did have a certain flavor of its own, and here too, the salami (and the pepper from the Lidl mill) were a desperate savior, but not even the onions had any bite or flavor. The drinks... I'd say I haven't seen such cute glasses in ages. You have to hunt for the Coke in a 0.2-liter glass for €2.50 on the table, and the non-alcoholic wheat beer in a slim 0.33-liter glass for €3.00 was also kind of cute. The service was almost nonexistent. The young woman who took our order only spoke Italian – neither German nor English. But that was excusable; who knows what the reasons are, so no rating here. I would like to acknowledge that, despite the many employees in the room, no one noticed us waving (for pepper). The empty dishes remained on the table, and I went to the counter to pay. There's no question about how delicious it was – neither during the meal nor afterward. (The plates were empty because we were simply hungry, and the pizza's consistency was edible—not to mention enjoyable, of course.) We didn't complain to the restaurant, by the way, because the dish was so tasteless that fundamental changes to the recipe would have been necessary—that can't be easily done in a flash. So, all in all, absolutely no recommendation! (However, we now appreciate the quality of our Italian restaurant at home again ;-) )

Tasty pizzas. Service is okay, nothing special. It is a typical takeaway Pizzeria, but you can also eat local. The chairs are very comfortable.

We are on holiday in town and have ordered two pizzas to pick up. After 30 minutes we were able to pick up everything. Both pizzas were delicious. Crispy dough and fresh toppings. The fresh pizza rolls were also simply great. We would like to recommend the pizzaria to anyone who is on holiday or comes by here!!!!

Very atmospheric place, tasty dishes in a wide range, fabulous location.

We tried pizza, pasta and salad, the pizza was convincing, with the pasta dishes and salad we chose we would have been able to handle a little more flavor and seasoning, both were too defensive for our (!) taste. Visually everything is great, subtle table decoration, the lamps are also good and there is neither kitsch nor oak rustic charm. Seems to be a young team, so a great starting point and all the best!

The pizza dough has definitely improved and the topping is not too thin ;) Prices for pizza are also okay.

The tastiest pizza we've eaten in a long time! Service was also very friendly and accommodating! If we lived here, this would be our regular pizzeria ☝🏻🤩

A good restaurant with good food. The waitress had a few problems communicating, but the rest is good. Friendly service, good food. Ambience is nice, but not the best. Basically there is a little criticism to be made but overall a good restaurant

We only bought tea and coffee here. It was OK. They did charge us the price of tea for another cup of hot water. I guess the staff just follow rules so they counted that as tea.

Leider muss ich meine Empfehlung für LoStivale zurück nehmen. Seit einiger Zeit hat leider der Betreiber Roberto G. die Pizzeria aufgegeben. Schade für die Kalterherberger und auch für Feriengäste. Ein neuer Betreiber. Die Entwicklung ist leider sehr ungünstig. Die Räumlichkeiten wirken sehr verwahrlost, zumindest der hintere Gastraum und die Toiletten. Sichtbarer Schimmel im hinteren Gastraum geht garnicht und müsste sofort gemeldet/geschlossen werden. Massig SpinnenWeben in der Garderobe und ungeputze Toiletten , die völlig veraltet und renovierungsbedürftig sind. Das Vertrauen in die Hygiene ist sichtbar verloren. Das Essen ist leider auch nicht mehr zu empfehlen. Wir waren mehrfach noch zu Gast in den letzten Wochen. Die Pizzen sind labberig, die Antipasti Platte sah gut aus, war leider unverträglich , und bescherte meiner Frau einen Abend auf dem Klo. Die Fleischgerichte halten nicht das, was sie versprechen. Insgesamt ist LoStivale nicht mehr zu empfehlen und ist aus meiner Liste der Empfehlungen, für meine Feriengäste, entfernt worden. Ich habe letztes Wochenende 100€ da gelassen und hätte das Geld besser wegschmeißen können. Es tut mir echt leid, denn ich bin seinerzeit, zu Robertos Zeit, ein regelmäßiger Gast gewesen. Kalterherberg hat eine Empfehlung im gastronomischen Bereich verloren. LG Antonio

Heerlijke pasta en pizza gegen voor een mooie prijs. Leuke sfeer. Schoon toilet en goede service.

Ich weiß wirklich nicht, wo eure zwei Sterne herkommen, aber Bewertungen werden ja oft gesteuert. Wir waren jetzt zweimal bei euch und sehr zufrieden. Essen und Service einwandfrei. Wenn ich ansonsten die Monschauer Schnitzellandschaft mit den Einheitssoßen so betrachte, kann ich deren positiven Kritiken auch nicht nachvollziehen. Lasst euch nicht unterkriegen und macht weiter so.

Wir waren mit 10 Personen dort. Das Essen ist passabel. Der Service ist unterirdisch. Der Wasserschaden an der Decke und die durchhängenden Gardinenstangen, trüben das Ambiente.

Eten was goed, maar bediening en hygiëne toiletten zeer slecht en voor cappuccino moet je hier ook niet zijn.

Prima pizza en snelle bediening! Het is er schoon van binnen en de prijzen zijn van een goed niveau.

Schönes Ambiente. Man kann auf dem Marktplatz sitzen oder im Café. Sehr freundliche Bedienung und gute Frühstücksauswahl.

Bakkerij die denken dat ze een ontbijtcafe zijn… Gewoon een bakkerijtje die bakkerij had moeten blijven. In plaats daarvan hebben ze twee sjagerijnige vrouwen achter de toonbank gezet die al met één klant in de stress raken. Onvriendelijk, snauwerig, zelf supersnel praten en als je zelf te snel bent met je bestelling je tot bedaren sust. Echt ongelofelijk. Koffie is net Thee, broodjes zijn er als je vroeg bent amper en ze kijken je nog net niet weg. Oh en als je cash betaald moet je gepast betalen want de zwaarste van het stel kan niet rekenen.

We are an English group in the lovely medieval town of Monschau. I tried to order some coffee and cakes from this establishment, and was met with the most unfriendly and RUDE staff I have ever come across!! After 2 or 3 minutes of being polite with her behaviour, I then decided not to tolerate it any further and told her to forget the order. This cafe is not worthy of my custom or money! Avoid!!!

Located right next to a church. The lasagna we ordered can be better if it is less salty. My friend ordered tuna pizza. It is also a little on the salty side for our liking. Aglio olio taste is okay.

Wir sind angenehm überrascht von diesem Lokal. Hier stimmte bei unserem Besuch heute Abend einfach alles. Vom super freundlichem Service über angenehmes Ambiente bis hin zum echt leckerem Essen. Bei einem fast vollem Lokal muss man halt bei der Wartezeit Abstriche machen. Diese waren trotz vielen Leuten mehr als erträglich. Schaut Euch die Bilder an, siehe vorher und nachher. Sie sagen einfach alles zum Essen.

Die leckerste Pizza, die ich seit langem gegessen habe!! Auch die Vorspeise war der Hammer. Zusätzlich gab es noch einen kleinen Gruß aus der Küche. Die Preise stimmen auch absolut! Man kann schön dort sitzen und sich wohlfühlen. Wie ich gesehen habe, slnd auch Hunde willkommen! Der Service ist nicht perfekt, mitunter dauert es etwas und wirkt leicht chaotisch aber dafür dass die Besitzer so junge Leute sind, die das ganze mit absolutem Herzblut und Freundlichkeit betreiben, kann man darüber gerne hinwegsehen, finde ich :) Wir werden sicher nochmal wiederkommen. Macht weiter so!

Das Essen ist super lecker, ob bestellt nach Hause oder vor Ort 👍. Die Pizza, Hammer, der Boden die Soße, einfach top. Wenn eine Margarita schmeckt, dann weiß man, die Pizza ist gut ☺️ Vor Ort sind Hunde erlaubt, absoluter Pluspunkt. Abgesehen davon, netter Service, gute Küche. Ein lächeln auf den Lippen und Aufmerksam, dem Gast gegenüber. Hier nimmt man gerne auch was Wartezeit in Kauf, wenn es voll ist, es lohnt sich. Immer wieder gerne🌸

Lo Stivale war unsere Rettung auf der Durchreise, als sonst nix geöffnet war, freundlicher Service, leckeres Essen.

Beste Pizza und das Personal super freundlich.. da hol ich mir öfters mein Essen.

Heerlijk steenoven gebakken pizza's. Goede bodem, nergens zwart. Dik belegd met heerlijke ingrediënten. We hadden de een pizza met spinazie en een quatro frommagio, beide heel lekker! De bediening was heel vriendelijk en snel.

Essen war super. Gute Qualität und große Portionen zu angemessenen Preisen. Wir waren zu einer großen Gruppe da und es wurde versucht das wir alle gleichzeitig das essen bekommen. Leider hat dies zu über 2 Stunden Wartezeit geführt. Bei der Bezahlung wurde es dann auch wieder etwas chaotisch....was jedoch verständlich ist bei so vielen Leuten.

Super Essen, von außen sieht es nicht ganz so toll aus dafür innen um Welten besser, service könnte zwischen durch etwas aufmerksamer sein aber immer freundlich

Super Küche, von Pizza über Penne bis Salat alles zu empfehlen. Wenn wir wieder hier sind wissen wir wo es gutes Essen.

Wir waren grade dort essen . Einfach nur genial und super lecker. Service sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Wenn wir wieder in Kalterherberge sind werden wir wieder dort essen gehen.

Sehr leckere Pizza. Von außen leider sehr unscheinbar. Wir haben das Essen bestellt und mitgenommen. Hätten wir gewusst, wie schön es drinnen aussieht, hätten wir uns auch reingesetzt. Hunde sind auch erlaubt. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich!
